The manager says to eat elsewhere. We had just flown in from the east coast and were hungry. We approached the desk, and the host- an older gentleman, who looked like the manger- was there. He informed us that they didn't serve dinner until 5:30. I asked what options were available to to weary travelers who had jut flown in from the east coast. In a condescending tone, he told us to "eat on the plane". We left, still hungry, and believing that airline food was better than this place.

Yummy Elk The service was wonderful and the restaurant has a wonderrful location right near the base of the mountain. I loved the twin elk chops. They were absolutely delicious. Make sure to order them when you first arrive because they almost ran out the night we were there.

Been coming to Big Sky all my life, Bernie (the owner) is awesome. Love the food, THE SIDE SALAD, the burgers, the hummer shots, excellent.

I had lunch here today. It was OK. I had their special soup and sandwich. It was as advertised, but nothing special. The service was good, particularly considering the number of people who descended on it all at once. The place needs to be spruced up. Its advantage is its location and pricing. I would not avoid it, if I am back, but it is no my first choice. Decent sandwich for a decent price.

Food and service are excellent and has the best MT atmosphere anywhere on the mountain. Due to that it gets busy at times but well worth relaxing and talking to the great mixture of tourists and locals!

When ever visiting the mountain, be it summer or winter, we try and stop in for lunch. Great place to warm up while skiing or relax while playing on the mountain. For years the food has been consistently good and the atmosphere almost unchanged. (I do miss seeing people board the gondola through the window). Service isn't always the fastest, but the reason for being on the hill is to relax and slow down, anyway. Right?

This place was laughably terrible. I wanted to give our server the benefit of the doubt because we had a group of about 10. But not only was the service terrible, but the food was mediocre and overpriced for iceberg lettuce. My husband asked what side options were available if he ordered a burger. French fries or onion rings. No vegetables, side salads, or other options. Fried onions or fried potatoes. So he ordered a salad that was nothing more than soggy iceberg lettuce and lunch meat turkey. I wasn't that hungry but knew I was going to be hungry later while on the slopes. There were no healthy side options...so I asked if I could order the child's cheese and crackers even though I wasn't a child. The waitress nods yes, and winks at me. This was listed for $2 on the menu. This plate appears (should have taken a picture)....2 packets of saltines and 1 slice of velveeta cheese (pre-sliced processed cheese) cut in half. I almost laughed out loud. THEN....our check appears and I'm charged $5.95 for this!!!! Most restaurants give saltine crackers for free! You're charging me $6 for 1 slice of processed cheese?! We pointed this out to the waitress who responded, "Yes, that's what the menu says, you asked for it, I'll show you." She then retrieves a menu to be only be proven wrong and agrees to adjust this to $2 (which, come on, is still a racket). The only thing that was acceptable a about the meal was my mimosa-which was probably because they handed me the mini bottle to open myself (I didn't screw it up).

We ate here after skiing and found it to be adequate, nothing more....just adequate. The food was satisfactory; the service was worthy of Denny's. Bottom line: If you are going to pay Big Sky prices for dinner, go somewhere else, like a place where the staff knows to serve main dishes with entree facing the diner. And, with a more upscale crowd.

I was on the mountain and a local from Bozeman recommended Hummers. The location is very convenient to the lifts...in the corner of the mall underneath the cafeteria. It was after 1pm and I had to wait about 5 minutes for a spot at the bar. I ordered a buffalo burger with swiss & mushrooms and a cold smoke ale. Great combination. Chatted for a bit with folks at the bar and went back to the mountain. Good burger, and the entire order cost me less than the chili & salad bar I had two days before at the cafeteria. Service was good. Nice place to stop for a burger and beer.

Awesome dive-ski bar. Great food, awesome service. Our waiter was quick, and funny! Try the ribs, they're tasty.

This place is in a great location in the center of the mountain village. The dress is casual but the food is very upscale! We loved the rustic atmosphere! We had the shrimp stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and they were very good! For dinner I had the 1/2 rack of Baby Back Ribs and my husband had the Pecan crusted Walleye. Both of them were fabulous! The half rack was plenty of food for me and the flavor and tenderness was amazing. I tried the Walleye and it was fantastic! Both dinners had size salad and a choice of sides to choose from. Both were well worth the money! We will be back when we return to Big Sky!

I was at a conference in Big Sky and had only a few minutes for lunch. I wandered into the mall and found this little hidden gem. The place was busy for lunch, but the owner greeted me himself and sat me at the bar. He quickly took my order (buffalo burger with cheddar) and made me feel very comfortable. As the seats filled in around me, more than one person knew him, and he called them by name. So obviously a favorite with the locals. The burger was juicy. He brought me sides upon request, and I was able to pile on the toppings of my choice. The fries were fresh and crisp. I had water since I had a meeting to get back to so I couldn't sample the line of brews on tap, but I will have to next time. Let's get down to brass tacks: it's a pub joint. No high class food here, but a good solid meal with great views of the mountain and a local neighborhood bar attitude. I'd definitely come back here.

We are now a party of 5 sitting at a different restaurant in Big Sky after having been ignored at M R Hummers. We waited for 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and upon her arrival, she immediately announced that the kitchen was backed up and that our food would "be awhile". She refused to tell us what "awhile" was, and was clearly irritated that we had even bothered to take a seat. We ordered and got drinks, and since our dinners came with salads, we thought that would get us by until "awhile" happened. 25 minutes later, no salad, and no visit to our table to even see if we needed drinks. We flagged her down for more soda, and she begrudgingly complied. Between delivering orders, I watched her being her own bartender, making and delivering drinks and even cleaning dishes before handling plates full of food! At 40 minutes, I approached the hostess (who had seated a few tables, but largely remained at her empty podium leaning against it with her back turned to the dining room instead of helping guests), and asked to at least be served our salads. She said our waitress was very busy, and I said "Well, right now she is bartending". She approached her and a few employees huddled together (none of them ever entering the kitchen), and the hostess came back to our table and said that the kitchen doesn't even have the salads up yet. The waitress arrived right behind her and said there was nothing they could do and that we were welcome to leave. Clearly our business was not welcome or required. This is not just a rogue staff missing it's boss for an evening. This is a systemic failure from the top down when the staff feels that it's OK to ask guests to leave when they are under-staffed and lazy. I looked around to see if Chef Ramsey was there "shutting the f-ing place down", but alas, it was just us being shown the door because we were silly enough to expect at least minimal service. MR Hummers may think that just because they are up on the mountain that they will just automatically get customers, but there are plenty of other places to eat up there, and you are not that special. Bad service will eventually shut you down, and take your precious uptight staff with you.

Ok. Facts you should know.... 1: It is a bar/restaurant at the bottom of a ski hill - Not a Michelin star establishment. 2: It is the only NON-corporate owned eating establishment at the base of the mountain. 3: for reasons one and two, it is a local - very popular with locals, and tends to cater to locals. The food is decent, the best experience to be had is to come in, sit at the bar, and talk to your fellow skiers. Have a drink, have a meal. enjoy the ambiance and fellowship. It also works well for families - come on in, have a meal and enjoy. Remember, it's vacation. Relax, smile, talk to the waitress, I guarantee you'll have a great experience.

I was 0 for 2 in Big Sky. Mediocre, overpriced food. Horrific service. If bitchiness was money, their waitresses would be Bill Gates. The only way this place stays in business is a captive audience from the resort, who obviously don't track Yelp. Eat at the burger bar out in the courtyard.

Worst service I have encountered in a very long time. The menu offers limited options unless you are a fan of deep fried,cheese-laden food. The restaurant was half empty and we waited almost 30 minutes for a bag of lettuce salad with Chinese noodles and cheese strewn across the top. The grocery store is a better choice!

This was a big disappointment. I can't believe this high-dollar establishment makes claims of quality cuisine. Not only did the bartender give us the impression he hated his job, but my burger was virtually uncooked and my buddy's ribs were bone dry. I'm sure this is an ok place if you're a local, you're only drinking and you know the staff. If that's not you, I'd suggest you find someplace else to go. I suspect the staff would say the same thing.

I had dinner here our first night in Big Sky. This is a no frills kind of place so set your expectations accordingly. We both had a great time here. We started with the smoked trout which was a whole filet of smoked fish. Probably the best smoked trout Ive ever had. Green salads came with our meal. Iceberg lettuce with tomato, cucumber, cheddar cheese, and crispy chow mein noodles. Im not a fan of iceberg and the chow mein noodles were kind of a random but the salad was actually pretty good. I had the nut crusted Walleye and my partner had the elk chops, both of which were flavorful and cooked perfectly. We couldnt complain about our dinner at all. Our server was nice and our food was good. The best part of our dinner trip to Mr. Hummers was the golden retriever who was waiting by the front door for his owner - probably at the bar. So adorable. We came in for lunch during our stay and had soup, salad, and sandwiches which were also good.

I spend time here every winter, and I'm impressed with the consistently good service and cheap prices...never have I eaten this cheap at a ski resort!

I came here with my friend's family and we were frequent visitors here during our stay, which was great! I really liked everything I had here - especially their side salad that comes with the entrees. I'm not sure what it is about that salad, but I could seriously eat one everyday - they were perfect! The only downside is that a few items seemed a little overpriced, and it's a pretty dim restaurant. Overall, Hummers is a quality restaurant that's definitely worth a visit :)

I would give this place negative stars if I could. A group of ten of us walk in for dinner and they sit us at a six top and say we can't split the group up. After some rude comments, we figured it out and ate dinner. The food was ok but way over priced and the service sucked. The owner was blacked out drunk and the waitresses were very rude. After we ate and paid the bill that was wrong, we were told to get out and to never come back again. Worst place ever!!!!!!

Overall experience here was awful. Walked in with a party of 11 and was told they could sit us as a group but didn't have enough tables together to accommodate that large of a group, so we split the party to 2 tables separated by a short wall. The waitress at my table tried to take our order 3 times despite being told each time we didn't have menus. The food was not great-the salad was a wedge of iceberg with some crunchy "things" on top, the entrees were like frozen dinners, the only good thing here was the ranch dressing. When the bill came (both tables had separate checks) there was an 18% gratuity included. When questioned the waitress said its added on for parties of 7 or more. We didn't agree with that since our party was divided AND we were on 2 different checks. When asked to speak with a manager we were told that he didn't want to talk to us, turns out he was drinking at the bar and was wasted. We paid the bill and were told to never come back. Don't worry we wont!!

Food was average at best. Certainly not worth the price. Service was very good. Whiskey Jacks is good alternative.
