invited to a business dinner there tonight. Previewed the extensive menu the night before. Waitress was friendly and explained the menu and said she had tasted everything on the menu. Service was somewhat slow. ( total meal took 2 1/2 hours). We ordered the charbroiled oysters and crab beignets. The oysters were small and short on flavor. The crab beignets were pretty good. Our host ordered the caviar staircase. Impressive presentation with 4 different caviars. It was fun to taste the different ones and was probably the best part of the meal. The oyster salad was average at best. The oysters were again small. The beet salad was good. I had the wood grilled redfish with truffle lobster cream sauce. The redfish was very small with a small amount of sauce. The fish appeared to have been under a warmer. The redfish was also highly salted and peppered. Overall the average person may be impressed but this restaurant serves average fish at best. The menu is too large. They should downsize it and improve on what they are doing. There's other seafood places in town that are better. Seating is crowded and it feels like eating in a cafeteria. All items are a la carte so it's very pricey so be warned.

Biscuits before the meal were the best thing SR had going for it. The cocktails were fine, but slow to come out. Fish on a plate was pricey, overcooked and lonely without any accompaniments. The space is lovely!

My sisters and I tried this place out for lunch. Like a previous reviewer stated, the staff that seated us and took our orders acted like they would rather be anywhere but there and it took forever to get our beverages. Our appetizers were well plated but lukewarm. The flavor was good, and if the service had been better, and quicker, I would give a better review. The food took way too long to get to us and we were about to leave when it finally came. We had burgers and sandwiches. I've had much better for a lot less elsewhere. The staff mixed up the tickets and were very rude when we pointed it out to them. We won't be going back.

I've been really bothered by the location of this place. It's in a glorified strip mall, so it seems. Superficial on my part? Absolutely. I just couldn't imagine it could be that great on the inside. Oh, judgy people are almost always wrong! We entered, I think my arms were crossed--the way in which one does when they're uncomfortable. Much to my surprise, you step into a huge space that actually resembled (without trying too hard), a place you'd find in New Orleans. The decor was outstanding in my opinion. So was the energy of the place--open, airy, simple, yet definitely southern. It's also huge. Many of our friends recommended that we sit at the bar. I was prepared to sit there if we had to, but since they honored our reservation, they took us back to an unexpected area--another huge dining area--also open, airy, simple and southern. I am pregnant, so of course I sat right next to the wine cellar of what appeared to be a remarkable collection of wines and champagnes. It was painful to be in that spot. My husband, who refused to drink in solidarity, drooled over the champagne menu. We ordered the crab deviled eggs appetizer. Both of us found them to be too salty. One test for a good restaurant is if you are water-logged the next day. Most restaurants add so much salt to the food to make up for taste. I was hoping the rest of the food wouldn't be so salty. The salt was overpowering and we could hardly taste the rest of the dish. My pregnancy craving led me to the side creamed spinach dish. My husband isn't a fan of creamed spinach, but he took a bite and I was so happy he wanted more. We ended up splitting that as an appetizer. I really didn't want to order from the pasta menu, but we were told that the sheep ricotta gnocchi was worth every carb. It turned out not to be pasta, which is great! It literally melted in our mouths. Usually recommendations create expectation and they are not lived up to. Not in this case. I'd highly recommend this dish. We also ordered the seared scallops and foie gras. I don't eat foie gras, but my husband took a bite and said it was pretty good. The scallops were done well--maybe just a hint of too much salt for our taste. With a few kinks to work out, this place is still one of the top three places in Jackson. Is it Restaurant R'evolution? No way. But, for Jackson, it's on par.

For the price, this is a must miss. The best thing we ate were the biscuits. Staff was friendly, although when I asked if they had any of their craft beers on draft, the waiter said, "no, but I can pour it in a glass for you." Shrimp and grits was sub par. Shrimp were overly salty, over cooked and rubbery. The dish was very incomplete, with a one dimensional profile. The fish on a plate with the Acadian sauce was also overly salty, the sauce was weak at best and the fish was over cooked. For a meal of this price, skip this place. There are several other restaurants within 5 miles that are truly excellent. If you know good (sea)food you'll be glad you went elsewhere.

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating at Seafood R'evolution last night and it was truly one of the finest restaurants we had been to in a while. Then entire service team made it a pleasurable visit and that's before talking about the food. Our waiter Simon was terrific and really knew the menu well. Now there was a hiccup or two in our visit, but I'll get to that in a moment. My wife had the redfish and corn and crab cappacino and was very pleased. I tasted both and the flavors were great. I had the lamb loin special served over greens and the baby beet salad. Both had complex flavor profiles and were beyond delicious. For desert we both had the key lime pie which did not disappoint. Now for the hiccups, my wife finished her meal first and asked to have her lefovers boxed up. I hadn't quite stopped working yet but asked for the same about 5 minutes later. The server assigned to that did not understand that I had wanted my food boxed up ad discarded it. I asked about it and when I found out I wasn't angry and said I understood but Simon and the manager on duty Patrick had a new entree prepared for me to take home at no charge. That was above and beyond. The other small hiccup was that our coffee was served cold, but it was immediately fixed and we had new coffee within 2 minutes. My point here is everyone makes mistakes but it takes special service to correct them so readily and so perfectly. Bravo. The bottom line is that Seafood R'evolution is a fine addition to the Jackson metro area and we will most definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Won't honor your reservation or do anything to correct the situation. Hostess less than understanding or helpful. Good luck.

I got the redfish la plonche. I tried sides of creamed spinach, greens, and sprouts. I also tried a couple of appetizers, crab beignets and fried oysters. This place came highly recommended as long as I got the redfish. As a person that isn't a big seafood eater, I was hesitant. It was very very very good. I ate every last bight of it and that is definitely saying something. I had the crawfish étouffée to top it and I couldn't have picked anything better. The creamed spinach was exactly what I was looking for. It was light and airy, but had tremendous flavor. I thought the greens were pretty good. It is hard to beat greasy, home cooked, soul greens you can get elsewhere, but I enjoyed them. The sprouts were ok, but I'm not a sprout guy. The apps were definitely a highlight. I hate...hate...oysters. These were unreal good. So good I almost had a second, but then I remembered it was an oyster. The crab beignets are a must get. Don't miss out or go cheap on these. They are cooked to perfection and bring everything you love about crab and beignets into one. A co-worker of mine mentioned that the service was too good. At the time I laughed, but we really were rarely left alone. It wasn't any fault of theirs though, we had a big table. The service was on point, but could be a little overbearing at times. I will also give a word of advice: don't expect to walk in here and drop Chilis money. This place will run your bank account dry in a minute, but you're eating great so who cares. I definitely wouldn't mind going back. Great job crew!

Terrible name, great restaurant. I had the privilege of coming here for a pharm event, and the service and the food were top notch, not a single complaint. I'm the guy that ordered the steak at a seafood restaurant, and couldn't be more satisfied. Some colleagues got the gulf fish and were less than pleased but my steak was meticulously prepared, suckers! The ambience and décor of the restaurant, the maritime theme, you can tell a great deal of thought went into even the smallest of details. Just check out the WC, the porthole on the doors: magnifique! Now, mind you, I had no idea how much the food cost, but from the generous and professional service and the well prepared appetizers and main dish, it was easily the best restaurant I've been to so far in MS. Shine your shoes, wear a blazer, strut on down.

This place has several positives right up front: the atmosphere is very fancy and clean, and well decorated. The food is fantastic- I tried turtle soup, crab cakes, charbroiled oysters, and a fried oyster salad. The chefs are amazing with the flavors and plating presentation. I was asked for my last name before I was seated, and when my server approached me for the first time, I was addressed by name- I thought that was a nice personal touch. The only negatives I have would be the speed of service; everyone walks slow and takes their time, and there was too much time waiting for food and the check. They were overly nice, almost too nice, but I can't give them less than 5 stars because I love seafood and they delivered. I wanted to try more, like escargot and lobster, crab claws, etc., but the lunch menu is much more limited than the dinner menu. I was told they are not prepped to do lots of dishes at lunch. They would have made more money had they been able to offer more options at lunch!
(5)Hunter B.
Absolutely fantastic lunch experience! Food was phenomenal, service was outstanding, and great atmosphere. Make sure to try the pimento cheese and the crab beignets -- 5/5 stars!
(5)Angela R.
We went here because we read about the red velvet cornbread, but it was just weird. Everything else was excellent, especially the crab beignets.
(5)Trish F.
Crab beignets and lobster gnocchi are unbelievable!!!!! And the bone in filet is the best steak that I have ever put in my mouth!!!!! Our server, Jay, made the best recommendations! Looking forward to our next dinner at your restaurant.
(5)Chris P.
Just a great place, my wife and I live it. I love the deco type styling and being able to actually see you food being prepared. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. This was our second visit and so far we haven't been disappointed!
(5)Nathan B.
For the price it should've been much better. Food was ok. Service was below average and I don't know why... They had more people working there than ants in a mound.

A+++ Service and Drinks! Very popular place for the after work crowd.

My friend and I had an early reservation last night. We ordered the snapper and redfish with lemon beurre blanc and shrimp. It was terrific- mine wood grilled and hers blackened. We shared a generous side of grilled asparagus served with a tasty Parmesan sauce. My only regret was not ordering the crab beignets. The service was excellent and the place was packed. I foresee this one as a lasting favorite among many good choices for fresh seafood in our area. So glad to have another go-to restaurant in Madison County. I will definitely return.

My husband and I had really high hopes for this place. We made a reservation for a Saturday night and arrived to a packed restaurant. Just walking through the door we loved the decor and atmosphere. We checked in and then waited for our table, probably around 10-15 minutes. No big deal, it's a busy Saturday night. Once we were seated after a few minutes someone came to set up our table and apologized for the lateness and for the table not being ready. Still not a big deal. Service was ok at first, although the servers had a lot of trouble answering a simple question about whether a type of seafood was available or not. We ordered the deviled eggs which were waaaaay too salty. I love salty food and these were just too salty. We also got the red velvet cornbread which basically tasted like jiffy cornbread but the honey cream cheese butter was delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits (super rich as to be expected, delicious but also a tad too salty) and my husband got the mushroom risotto which he didn't even eat because it was so bland and unappetizing. He also ordered a side dish that was incorrect and also not good. This is where things really went south. The waiter came to our table to check on us, saw it was wrong, said "that's not the right thing" then walked off and did nothing further! I also asked for another glass of wine that was never delivered. Pretty disappointing considering the wine was the best part of a really disappointing meal. At the end of the meal when one of our servers delivered our check he apologized for the bad service then forced us to shake his hand! It was really awkward and uncomfortable. We saw him doing it with the other tables as well. We eat out with some frequency (and I used to wait) and I've never had a server force me to shake their hand or shaken a patron's hand, especially a customer that the server had absolutely zero rapport with and had given subpar service. Just, no. We are still going to give this place a chance but not for a while. Tl;dr-bad food, bad service and servers that force their customers to awkwardly shake their hand

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here. Great paintings in the restaurant and fantastic food - even the bathrooms are cool! I thoroughly enjoyed the blackened snapper, crab beignets, mashed potatoes, and red velvet cornbread! Service was great too - no complaints!

Love love love this place. The chargrilled oysters are nothing short of spiritual. So much butter. Pastry is genius. Sensory overload is the only way to describe what you see when you walk in: chandeliers, a packed, gorgeous, sophisticated bar, exposed, bright kitchen, wood-beamed ceilings. Perfect for sharing appetizers and drinks with friends in the bar or enjoying a lengthy, multi-course meal in the main dining room. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable, well-spoken, and professional. I'm going back and getting the charcuterie board all for myself. :)

Best restaurant in town. Get the charbroiled oysters. Service is great. We enjoyed stuffed flounder and asparagus. We've had the gumbo and crab beignets and other items. All great .

I ate in the bar area at R'evolution for lunch today and I give it a C+ / B-. When my wife and I arrived, the restaurant was very slow. We were barely greeted when we walked in by two ladies that acted as if they would rather be doing something else today than working. The wait staff in the bar area was brutal. Not attentive at all. It took forever for someone to come take our drink orders and once drinks were delivered, it took forever to give someone our food orders. The gentleman that came to take our food orders wrote nothing down. Why do restaurants do this, it is not impressive and you usually screw it up. Ah yes, the order did get screwed up. My wife and I ordered one app, two entrees and the waiter messed it up. Of course when the items came out, no one knew who had ordered what....WRITE IT DOWN. We ordered the crab beignets as a starter. The flavor was great but they were borderline under cook. One of the beignets had a room temperature center with a rather soft crust. Not too sure if this one was from an older batch or was pulled a little too early. But like I said, the flavor was outstanding but the execution was a little lacking. My wife ordered the fish tacos and she said they were just ok. I tried some of her entree and I would give it a little higher score than ok but not much. The fish is fried and I believe it is catfish. The taco stuffings that are provided are good. Having had these, I think we prefer the grilled variety of fish tacos instead of fried. I had the oyster po-boy and it was average at best. Disclaimer: I am from New Orleans and I take my po-boys very seriously. The oysters were good but there just were not enough of them. I did have one oyster that was over cooked and one end of bread was hard which makes me think the bread was left over from yesterday. With tax and tip, our bill was in the $70 range for lunch which I do not mind paying if you knock my socks. Unfortunately, my socks are still on. Maybe they are still working the kinks out but they need to hurry. Too many little mistakes that are adding up to poor execution. I was very excited to hear this place was opening but I walked out of there today a little disappointed. Especially with the crew they have in the kitchen. I am also concerned about how long this place will be able to stay in this area. I really hope it is here for a long time but I am not too sure if this town can support a restaurant that is cranking out meals at these prices. I will try this place for dinner to see if the service is better but I may wait a while to do so. If I have a better experience, I will definitely update or write a new review.

Outstanding seafood, over the top Scotch selection. If in Jackson, a must visit. Be prepared to pay though, but I think it is worth it.

I was in town to get my car serviced. A fraternity brother of mine recommended this restaurant. I'm glad that I tried it. I had the gumbo and the shrimp plate. Both were great. I'll be the family next time I'm in town. My kids love great seafood.

I went to dinner with a group for my first visit. The atmosphere is great - they really transformed a mall location into something that feels upscale. We sat in the front room at a large round table. We began with drinks, which were decent. The wine pours were pretty small for the price, though. We shared crab beignets. They were hot puffs of crab and were very good. For dinner, I ordered the redfish with lemon beurre blanc and creamed spinach. Since this is a seafood place primarily, I wanted to try something basic and simple. The redfish arrived with very little sauce. For $23 I got probably a 6 oz filet with a drizzle on top. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. The creamed spinach was awful. No flavor at all - just tasted like spinach and cream mixed together. I eat this often and I've never had worse. Several in our party ordered the fried platters (go figure) and were not happy with them. The hush puppies were literally raw inside. Sent em back, and the next batch was also doughy. For dessert I tried the white chocolate bread pudding. It tasted nothing like white chocolate or bread pudding and I left it unfinished. Service was ok, but not up to the standard for fine dining. It took 2 hours start to finish and we were ordering as soon as we had the chance. We had two waiters, one was really trying to please the other could not have cared less. I would say this is due to being new, but they really should have been able to get the service (and food) down by now. I doubt we will go back as there was really no redeeming attribute that would cause us to return.
(3)Jaye B.
I found my meal to be quite satisfying. Though my shrimp po boy was not overflowing with shrimp, I was pleased with the size of the jumbo shrimp that came on it. My dining companions had gumbo and an oyster po boy. No complaints from them about those. The waitstaff was attentive. The ambiance was great. The dining area was full. The fact that they take reservations is good. People weren't gathered in the door waiting for you to finish your meal and leave. I will definitely go back.
(4)Rachelle R.
Best overall dining experience I've had in a while. Food is great, service is excellent and it was very comfortable.
(5)Jonathan H.
This would be 4.5 for the food but the service was disorganized and therefore erratic. Confusion between various waitstaff as to who had done what and lack of follow-up. For example, our server never asked whether we wanted side dishes. The check was presented by another server but no one had asked about dessert or coffee. That being said, the food is excellent. Beautiful presentation and imaginative combinations -- gumbo in and around a quail! Fix the service and this will be a great spot.
(3)Keith F.
Horrible place. The worst 3 hours I have ever had in a restaurant. Yes...3 hours. Was placed at a high top table, with very uncomfortable seating. Very high prices for very poor food. I predict this place will have a for rent sign on it soon.
(1)George H W.
AN excellent dining experience! Definitely a place to go to reward yourself. The wait was very knowledgeable and proficient. The dining experience was just that, the libation list was provided on an iPad, it was definitely a conversation piece. I was surprisated at how busy the place was on such a cold and wet. It was to apparent to me tha t I would have to dine there on a number of occasions to. appreciate the entrées. Why , because of the number of ways you can select to have, your entree prepared. Now it is definitely is not a casual decision because it is rather pricey. An appetizer, entree, drink, and desert for two is going to be north of $100.
(4)Roger L.
They did a great job with this space. The look and feel of the bar and dining room are second to none. Service was very deliberate and paced well for a nice dinner with appetizers and cocktails. Food was great, and though portions were moderate the quality of the ingredients was second to none.
(5)George M.
Very overpriced. Good food. Indifferent service. Won't be back. A lot of other places in the area that actually appreciate their customers.

Some good some bad. I went in because I had heard such excellent things and I was really excited to hear the chefs were from New Orleans (I'm a Louisiana girl) The atmosphere was amazing and I had really high hopes for the meal. My dad and I started with a half dozen raw and a half dozen chargrilled oysters. In the end the raw ended up costing more than the chargrilled! I found that bizarre. They were pretty good but not my favorite. Then it took nearly 45 minutes after that course to get out soups. I had the quail gumbo. It had a full quail stuffed with the sausage and rice. Amazing presentation and sounds awesome, until you dig in to eat it. Cutting up a fully boned quail with a knife and a fork inside of my steaming hot gumbo bowl just wasn't ideal. But the flavor was pretty good. The entrees hit almost immediately after the food. My father and I both got fish. Without sides the fish was already around 22 dollars and it was just alright. My dad hated his étouffée on top and he had paid extra for that. The sides were actually great though. We had mashed potatoes and greens. By the end of it all though my dad was just frustrated and ready to go. It took nearly two hours for us to get in and out. The waiter didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. We weren't going to wait anyway but it's always nice to ask if a table needs anything else before dropping the check. I feel like the price did not reflect the quality. Disappointed for sure. Maybe if I go back and try some different menu items I'll have a different experience.

If you have the bank, they have THE dining experience for any style. Wow. Love, seriously love that dining at this level is available in Jxn. We had never been to a R'ev (even to the NOLA location) so we (the hubby & I) ordered to get some menu coverage. Started with 1/2 dozen raw R'ev style oysters as advertised by menu -- whoa. Best. Raw. Oysters. Ever. Pretty firm (none of the snot feel) clean (no grit!! #score!) and the crunchy cracker, cocktail sauce, and some other R'ev special sauce were each out of this world--even by themselves much less all together. So that was pre-course...amazing. Then, I had the sommelier match my courses for the night. He paired champagne with my appetizer (have I finally found the sommelier of my dreams?!?) Appetizers: hubby had the seafood gumbo and I had the escargot. Hubby's was so delish, mine not so much. Kinda game-y kinda chewy, definitely clarified butter (hello, taking the fat out of butter takes the taste out of butter)...not as good as Shapley's. But why the 5 star even with a negative??? Excellent, beyond excellent service. I felt like a movie star. Plus every other dish they set on our table exploded with flavor. Can you believe that the quality and experience made up for the disappointment? I know it isn't usual, but man did they ever. If I could get return on my investments as strong as this I wouldn't be living in Jxn. (See Ya at the beach in Grand Caymen!!). My main course was the lobster gnocchi. It was breath taking. Light lemony, buttery, lobstery (pretty sure I made that word up) flavor that I savored -- I know it sounds crazy but think lemon cookies (not quite as sweet) and lobster made a really awesome love child. I also scored when I added fried oysters to the side of the dish as cutting the fried with the lemon rich freshness was great. Then I topped it all with their bread pudding/creme brûlée love child. Yes! I seriously have a high bar set (by Ruth's Chris) for my favorite all time creme brûlée and I'm saying this dessert is exceptional. Of course, I had to be difficult and request just a couple fresh strawberries on the side. (No reason to break the bank if they can't scramble, right?). Standing ovation from this girl, hope I can afford to do it again soon bc I am sold!
(5)Melissa M.
I love love love everything about this place! Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was fantastic as well! I recommend trying the crab grilled cheese. I've never had anything like it! My favorite item on the menu is the red velvet cornbread. Yes...RED VELVET cornbread!! Make sure to top it with the cream cheese whipped butter! YUM!!
(5)Shelby H.
Had lunch here a couple weeks ago - incredible dining experience! Highly recommend the Crab Beignets. Ordered the Red Snapper and Jambalaya, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Had a great time with fantastic service. Will definitely be coming back, adding this to my list of favorite restaurants in Jackson!

Our first visit to Seafood R'evolution was a pleasant surprise. Our friends had given it high marks and they were not wrong. The appearance and décor is New Orleans and very relaxing. We had made reservations in advance and upon entering, were greeting with smiles and pleasantries from the hostesses. Amazingly, this is not the norm for the Jackson area. We were promptly seated and given the wine and cocktail list, which was on a tablet. My wife and I ordered cocktails while we scanned the impressive wine list, deciding to stay with cocktails. The martinis were well done. For starters we ordered the Seafood Gumbo and the Charbroiled Oysters. The Seafood Gumbo would make New Orleans proud and the Charbroiled Oyster were excellent. Moving on to the main courses, we had the Crawfish Stuffed Flounder Napoleon and Prime Eye of Rib Eye. Both were delicious, but my wife was not expecting puréed crawfish but whole crawfish in the Flounder Napoleon. The Prime Eye of Rib Eye was prepared just as I had requested and very flavorful. Our side dishes were equally tasty. Service was excellent throughout our dining experience. We will return - soon.
