I stopped by here last month with my wife for dinner after getting a recommendation from my boss. It was dark whenever we arrived and so we couldn't really see too much of the reservoir but from what I could tell, I'd bet the view is awesome during the day. Whenever we entered Cock of the Walk I was surprised by how huge the inside of this place actually was. There were numerous dining rooms and we were led to one in the back and sat at a window seat along the water. The decor and feel of this place was comforting and rustic with lots of exposed wood. Whenever we sat down to order I was surprised to only see two entree items on the menu, chicken and catfish. Of course I would rather have two items that are made really well than a huge number of items made poorly. I ended up going with the chicken while my wife went with the catfish with the full intention that we would share our meals. These entrees also came with with sides of white pickled onion, cole slaw, hush puppies, fries and jalapeno cornbread. The cornbread comes out first in a skillet and is flipped high up into the air by the server. Unfortunately our server missed ours (I did see her catch 3 others) and so we had to wait for a while until a new one was made for us. Once it did finally arrive both my wife and I enjoyed it. Shortly after we dug into our cornbread our meal came to the table. Both the chicken and the catfish were excellent and I really enjoyed them both. Each was hot and moist and the breading had a good flavor to it. However the sides that were served with my meal fell flat. They were fairly cold and as I am sure that you all know, cold fries and cold hush puppies are not very appealing. The bottom line for me is that I might be back in the future. While the chicken and the catfish were excellent and would make a compelling reason to head back here, the cold sides would not.

We go to Cock of the Walk every time we are in Jackson, it is quite the experience and the food is really good! I really can't think of anything I don't like there - their fried pickles, collards, hush puppies and corn bread is particularly good! Remember to feed the ducks after you eat!

Disappointed by the small dinner menu but the catfish was good. The volume of fries we were given for four people could have fed 12 and when we walked out people were feeding the Canadian Geese fries and their left over fish. Much too much food - the place could've come out better with folks like us and the ones next to us that left fish and fries to give us all you can eat and not waste it. Also put some machines outside with corn in them so the ducks at least get a healthy meal and you can charge a quarter turn for food - ask Game & Fish!!

Hot cornbread served in a cast iron skillet, Hushed puppies cooked to perfection, attentive service, hot fried catfish - yummy and so much food 3 of us had leftovers. I even loved the picked onions. Great place to eat, great service and really good down home fresh food

Best Catfish period. Their Cole Slaw has to have crack cocain in it. Awesome fried pickles - not greasy. Good corn bread. Cool rustic atmosphere. Take the kids outside by the reservoir and let them feed the Ducks and geese.

This is the place for great catfish!! Also great atmosphere! Go on an empty stomach, because you will leave full. Catfish, cornbread, fried pickles, hush puppies, and sweet tea! What more can you ask for. Oh, and they even toss the cornbread up in the air at your table. Save your left overs and feed the ducks behind the place afterwards.

If your looking for a place to experience some good ole southern cooking, this is where you want to go. If you have family in from out of town, COTW is the answer. I've never tasted fried fish this good. If you go with a big party, you'll get a large platter for everyone to pick from. Fries, fish, chicken, and hushpuppies are what you crave when you come here. Tea as sweet as it gets. Welcome to Mississippi.

I cannot go to Mississippi without visiting Cock of the Walk. Fried catfish, cornbread, fried pickles, greens, fries, cole slaw..... All the best we've ever eaten.

If you LOVE fried chicken or fried catfish - this is your place! Why? Because the only entrees you can get are either fried chicken or fried catfish. The beauty of them only serving two main dishes is that they cook them perfectly every single time. Of course, you have a wide variety of vegetables and other sides to choose from to go with your fried chicken or catfish - so don't worry there. Service is always friendly and excellent.

I was completely un-impressed with this restaurant. Didn't know it was possible to serve only TWO entrées. The service was horrible, had to ask for a drink three times before I got it. The chicken tasted like it was old and had be warmed up. We just moved to Mississippi and we've only had catfish one other time here and that place blew this place out of the water. Then on our way out not one of the five servers standing by the door said "thank you for coming" or anything for that matter which I have NEVER had happen at a restaurant. Will absolutely not be returning to this over-priced, over-rated restaurant and would not recommend anyone else going either.

My first legit southern meal and I think I have a newfound love for mustard greens. I walked away pleasantly full, enjoyed everything I ate and having experienced real southern hospitality. I was here for work and as a lunch request asked for a southern Mississippi meal. We dined during lunch which had a simple menu - fried chicken or catfish with your choice of sides. The waiter, realizing it was my first time in the south, provided stellar customer service and offered the cornbread flipping show/experience despite that usually being something done during dinner time only. He also brought mustard greens to share - something I am now a fan of! If you get there when lunch first starts, there shouldn't be a wait but did become fairly full within the hour. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better first time southern meal experience. I'd definitely go back should I return to the area.

Restaurant is on my "must visit list" every time I return to Jackson, MS since my departure in 1999. This is the only place I will eat catfish because it tastes "clean" and is fried properly. As usual, coleslaw & pickled onions were great. They've added jalapenos to the cornbread since the last time I ate it and it was good. Greens were much anticipated but lacked a bit in flavor. Hush puppies big and maybe a bit overfried but good. Fries...limp. So I just ate more coleslaw. Service was...lacking. I'm inclined to believe our waiter was still in training since he was obviously having trouble keeping up with the tables he was being sat. Drink refills were a distant dream, had to ask for to go boxes 3 times and fried pickles were admittedly given to another table, so the replacement came out after the meal was served but were taken off our bill. I'll be back for the food and hopefully by then our waiter will be trained. :)

  • Backdoc ..

Good quality but overpriced. I was extremely disappointed with the portions of the fried onion rings. We ordered a large onion ring for $4.95. There were only 8 rings. 8 rings!! Can you imagine? For $5? What are they thinking?

  • Donna N.

We have been coming here for years, but I have not been here in over a year. The catfish pieces have gotten smaller. We usually order a keel a boat with a couple of sides and eat it family style. However, we were about to go to war over the small pieces of catfish. Our waiter was disorganized as he was trying to do too much at one time. He brought out drinks and dinner for two tables and got everything mixed up. Both tables had to repeat the orders because he was so mixed up. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I know they are capable of doing better.

Fried catfish and fried chicken. Nuff said... (Honestly, that is the only two main courses they have on the menu.) It is all good. and I do allow myself a bit of fried food once a year or so. When the fried hankering starts a calling, I think of Cock of the Walk. It is located out on the Reservoir. Ask to be seated 'downstairs' and you'll have good views of the water while you eat. Your meal will include a round of tasty corn bread and cole slaw and you can order a pot of greens. There are other appetizers as well like fried pickles and onion rings. All very tasty and all very unhealthy. If you go at lunch on a weekday you can order a catfish or chicken plate that comes with two sides of vegetables. Also, when friends and family want to go and I don't want to eat fried food, I'll order a vegetable plate which is good. The only problem is that my hand starts venturing over to fetch a piece of fried catfish off of someone's keel boat special. It is too hard to resist -- I want the catfish but also want someone to slap my hand back with the wooden spoon from the pot of greens.

Catfish or chicken.. Only two options here. Fish was pretty good, but im a hard judge on catfish, being from the deep south. Coleslaw, hush puppies, and all the other fixings were pretty good. Cornbread served in a cast iron skillet. Place is huge on the banks of the reservoir in ridgeland. But it is always packed. Parking is pretty bad. Very loud, great for groups not dates.

  • Kyra W.

So I'll give the good/decent first since hopefully our incident is not a common occurrence (although I doubt it): This place is great for large groups -- the inside is huge and the menu is simple, so there's not a lot of turmoil over what to order and mistakes can't really happen. We had a party of 26 and were not out of place. The fried pickles are the best I've ever had! Seriously. The catfish, coleslaw, fries and greens were all pretty good, but didn't seem to leave anyone blown away. The servers were decently nice and seemed use to handling the chaos of large groups and children. They also served all the kids drinks in styrofoam cups with lids which was very nice and a relief. The not so great: There are only two entree options and everything is fried. (This restaurant definitely helps explain the obesity rate in Mississippi.) Unfortunately, the hush puppies left a lot to be desired and the chicken was just mediocre. The tables are very close together and just too small overall for the number of people they try to sit at them. Getting up from the table was an absolute pain and you were constantly bumping elbows. Now for the bad: COCKROACHES!!! We were seated at a table with 10 people, all of whom had plates, plus three platters of food, a plate of appetizers and all the pots from the sides on the table and a cockroach still had the balls to run across our table! The fact that it wasn't scared to be on our table when it was so busy along with the fact that it looked adolescent in size tells me that there are probably a lot more that call this restaurant home and are use to running across counters with activity. Due to the fact that we were in such a large group and I didn't want to create a huge mess or freak the kids out, we just smashed it and did not bring the issue up to management. So I can't say how they handled the situation or what there reaction was. To make a long story short, we will not be back.

How I miss living here and getting to enjoy the amazing food here often! We were back in town visiting and had to stop to devour their amazing catfish, skillet jalepeno cornbread and coleslaw. I have to mention, I DO NOT eat coleslaw but theirs...I don't know what's in it but it's killer! Don't forget to order sweet tea to swallow it all down with!

This is one of the Jackson area's two 5-star catfish places. First of all, this is an absolute must for any visitors not from the South. Catfish is a southern staple and they do it just right here. If you have a visitor come in, take them here for the experience. The views from the large windows right on the Ross Barnett Reservoir are spectacular (particularly at sunset), the "theme" of the restaurant adds a nice flair, and the food is great. They fry fish, hush puppies, fried dill pickles and fries as well as anyone. The Cole-slaw is tasty. If you like greens, I understand these are good, I guess I'm just not THAT Southern! The jalapeno cornbread is delicious and you get the treat of them throwing it in the air to flip it at the table! Tin plates, tin cups, waiters dressed like boatman from the riverfront in Natchez all make this a unique place. I thing to note: There are only two main course menu options - Fried Catfish or Fried Chicken. If you don't want one of those, this is not the place to go!

If you are looking for southern cooking, fresh seafood and great atmosphere- then head to "Cock of the Walk". On a recent trip to Jackson, I stopped in for dinner here. I ordered the fried pickles/onion rings (they let you split a basket if you want to do half/half) and the catfish dinner. The fried pickle chips were great! The batter was the right consistency- not too salty and not too thick. The catfish was amazing! Fresh tasting and again they were "spot on" with the batter. The homemade tartar sauce is also great - not too salty and just the right amount of 'tang'. The french fries did not disappoint either. Actually, none of the food disappoints. I'm not a fan of coleslaw and I enjoyed theirs. It's not too heavy with mayo- which I loved. If you are in the area and enjoy catfish- definitely give them a try. For lunch they offer fried green tomatoes and various other sides that are not available at dinner. That might be my only complaint- I love fried green tomatoes but they are not available during dinner.

A very interesting place, indeed. Comfortable and fun for a group. Initially, you receive cole slaw, which was good. Ask for more and more you shall have! As an appetizer you can get fried pickles, onion rings, turnip greens, or fries. The menu is either Catfish OR Chicken. We had 5 people order catfish and 2 order chicken. They bring you a large platter of each that I assume cover the amount of people who ordered it. The catfish was wonderful and disappeared quickly, as did the chicken. We were left with two large platters of french fries. They could really cut back on the amount of fries... The cornbread, flipped by the waiter, was spicy and not sweet, which I prefer sweet. I see the restaurant as a kind of a spectator attraction, but I wouldn't go there because I'm hungry. It was a fun experience, though, and great for a large party of people to get together.

  • Calvin M.

Everything we had was good. Fried catfish, cole slaw, cornbread, etc. the pickled onions were the best. And they kept bringing the side dishes out. They even gave us cups to take some home. The only thing I would do differently is add smoked hamhock in the greens. I would totally come back.

  • J J.

Always a great experience. The catfish is great and portions large. As busy as it is, we have never had to wait very long for a table. Try to get a table where you can view the reservoir. It adds to the experience.

  • Letia S.

Pretty descent. I'm from LA and saw reviews on Yelp so I decided to try it. I would come back again. Note: (for all you onion & corn haters) there are onions in the hush puppies and corn in the cornbread. I went with someone who just couldn't believe there would be real corn in CORNbread smh. Other than that the food and reservoir scenery was good. Enjoy!

Great catfish & greens in an atmosphere on the water. This restaurant is in one of the safest areas in Jackson metro. When you combine this with true Southern cooking, this makes this place a unique place to bring your significant other. Some places have good food for take out, but others not only give you good grub, but a great dine-in experience alongside it!

    (5)
  • Frank A.

Really it's 2-1/2 stars. Atmosphere was great but the catfish was heavily breaded to the point that you count taste the fish. A little over priced at 13.99 a person for only 2 pieces of fish each.

I'm not used to a having dinner on a waterfront restaurant with only two choices on the menu. Cock on the Walk only has catfish or chicken strips. They come with more fried accoutrements- fries & hush puppies. It also comes with coleslaw and cornbread. My guy enjoyed the buttery cornbread. I am not a fan. Every cornbread I've had has been dry and this was no exception. Maybe that's just how it is? We also ordered collared greens. Good not salty as I've had elsewhere. Could've used some bacon though. The meal was fine if you're in the mood for fried food, a lot of fried food w/not a lot of seasoning. I wish the dish came w/ other sides besides fries like rice and veggies or baked beans. The catfish came w/ blah tartar sauce (no lemon wedges or maybe malt vinegar?). The chicken came w/ blah honey mustard sauce. Everyone complains about the tiny tin cups but they kept mine full with refills and the tin actually kept my drink very cold! Overall, the service here was prompt and friendly which was great. Nice relaxed atmosphere near the water. I still don't know what the Cock of the Walk means except that the staff dresses like a pirates? I don't know what that has anything to do w/catfish and chicken strips. lol. I'm just a tourist. Don't hate.

During my trip to Mississippi, I wanted to try some good fried catfish, so naturally, I came here. I walked in to find a large restaurant area which overlooked the Reservoir. It was beautiful, so I was instantly impressed. The menu is short and sweet as you have the choice of fried catfish or fried chicken. Each person at the table orders and they bring the food out on a big platter with hushpuppies and french fries. They start out with cornbread and coleslaw. The cornbread with the seasoned onions on it were my absolute favorite (after the server tossed it in the air). The coleslaw was average. The catfish was amazing as was the chicken. I could not choose between the two. The hushpuppies were blah and french fries were standard. In terms of the food, I was impressed overall and would definitely go back the next time I'm in Mississippi. The best part of my experience here was taking the leftover french fries and hushpuppies and feeding the ducks that were walking around by the water. I LOVED doing this. So much fun. Make sure to save some food (or order extra) for the ducks!

  • Sweet O.

Still good after all these years, though our "big" order of onions rings had only SIX onion rings! The catfish and fixings are all tasty. Sometimes it is so crowded with large groups of family, you feel like you might be at a school/church dinner - not exactly a romantic evening, but still fun!

Went there yesterday. Lovely place beautiful water view. Lot of room to sit. Food was yummy. Best hush puppies and awesome fresh corn bread I have ever tasted in my life. Really good food. There are only 2 choices chicken or fish. We went with fish and had fried pickles which were really tasty and their sweet tea. Loved the meal and it was fresh and tasty. Will definitely be going back here again.

Whenever I get to Mississippi, this is at the top of my "must do" lists. Amazing fried catfish and chicken, traditional Southern sides, iced cold tea (sweet and not). All served in metal tableware. Located on the Ross Barnett Reservoir, this place offers views and loads of charm. Fast, friendly service.

Cock of the Walk is my favorite restaurant for catfish (juicy on the inside and non-oily on the outside) and jalapeno cornbread in MS! YUM! If you come in the daytime, you can enjoy the lunch specials along with a beautiful view of the reservoir while dining. They serve all your meals on tin/metal, reenacting the old Southern times. The servers are dressed cute, wearing long black hats to match the theme of the restaurant. They serve the jalapeno cornbread on a skillet that they flip in the air next to your table before serving, which I always enjoy watching! I also like their fried pickles. Their meal proportions are good, and comes with catfish/chicken, hush puppies, fries, coleslaw, onion rings, and pickled onions (really good!). The sides are refillable as well! After your meal, you can walk out to the dock and enjoy some fresh air and the vast waters. Be careful when you walk out of your car because if you're unlucky you might just step on... duck poo! ;)

Locals pointed me to Cock of the Walk for fried catfish. Solid dinner with a view of the reservoir. And you hear the ducks that apparently everyone feeds their riverfries to. Didn't actually see the birds, but I imagine they are ginormous from all the fries over the years. Menu basically has two choices, chicken or catfish. Of course, we went with the latter and it was an interesting contrast with the fish filets I had elsewhere. A lot more of a dark meat (if that's possible) taste to the fish, and less of the flaky butteriness I expected. Ton of food and we even added a small order of fried pickles and a pot o' collard greens. The cole slaw was great, as were the pickled onions. Cornbread was forgettable, but it did come in a little pan that the waitress flips high in the air tableside. I asked if she missed sometimes. Drinks in pairs of little tin cups since they're so little.

I went to the cock of walk by the reservoir. The fish was fishy tasting or fresh --- too fresh. It was oily as well. The black eye peas and greens were okay. I won't be back

It's been years (ok, maybe decades) since I've been here but for a Southern boy, it's heaven. Yes, they only have 2 things on the menu (catfish and chicken) and just about everything's fried so you Yankees may not understand that, but for those of us raised south of the Mason Dixon line, we get it. Some of the best fish, coleslaw, cornbread, collard greens and sweet tea ever. This is the place I'm heading to first if I ever get back to the Ross Barnett! Oh - and for those of you who don't know, the "Cock of the Walk" was a title given to the biggest, baddest keelboat captain on the river - a keelboat being a type of riverboat back in the 1800's that carried cargo and was propelled by a pole or oar. I've looked far and wide but haven't found a better catfish house yet - hopefully things haven't changed but I'm giving it 5 stars based on my recollection of how it was back in the day.

Let's see - if you want to eat some pretty good catfish, at a sit down restaurant, in the metro area - you have in no particular order: 1. Cock of the Walk 2. Sal and Phil's 3. Bo Don's 4. Jerry's 5. Berry's 6. Country Fisherman Cock of the walk is pretty darn good and tough to compete with in that group. Someone was gripping about the silverware in another review and I think that is just being too darn touchy in regards to the actual grub! Good catfish, with some excellent tarter sauce, They make a pretty mean cole slaw, the mustard greens are so/so. Fried pickles and onion rings I like. But the tarter sauce with their catfish, is orgasmic! I have eaten' catfish in Memphis, New Orleans, and Mobile - Cock of the Walk can hang with the best of them. Highly recommend them! The divertsity of the crowd, is proof of the cooking!

I am a big fan of cock. I have been lucky enough to get to enjoy big city cock as well small town cock like here in Ridgeland. And I am gonna be honest, this is some of the finest cock my lips have ever touched. The taters were good and so was the slaw. It's a bit weird they only got cock and catfish on the menu. I am glad I saw that big beautiful cock out front, that got my juices flowing. This is a great place to stop by and pick up some yummy yummy cock. I wish they would add a lil somethin like hot dogs.Every now and then I crave a good wiener. cocks and wieners, think about it.. If you are South of the Mason Dixon line, go get you some cock.

This restaurant is great. Lots of folks on a Friday night but food came out fast. Great service. Great atmosphere as we sat near a window and could look out over reservoir. Fish filet dinner was huge along with cole slaw, corn bread, and pickled onions as appetizer. All for around $31 for two people. Highly recommend!!!

Definitely the best catfish restaurant in MS! My husband and I make a visit out to the this "must try" restaurant at least once during our annual visit to MS. This year was the first time we actually had to wait 1/2 hour to be seated for dinner. May be it was because it was memorial day weekend. The wait wasn't bad and their we had no trouble hearing our name called over their PA system. I thought it was an "all you can eat" catfish before, but now it's a plate of about 4 large pieces of catfish along with tons of fries, hush puppies, pickled onions and freshly made cornbread that your server will flip high in the air at your table side. The fried catfish is definitely their specialty. It 's flaky and just melts in your mouth. It doesn't taste oily or smell fishy at all.

My second attempt after moving to this state to try this restaurant. :(. This time it was just a take out order and I felt like it was the biggest ordeal. Very rushed and rude in tone. I made the mistake to ask for total at the end and I thought the girl was going to flip her lid. 2 out of 2 times I have received poor customer service. Very disappointed.

Low carb dieters stay away, but for all others, this place was pretty darn good. Chicken Tenders or Fried Catfish are your two main dishes, but we started off with some delicious fried pickles. Cole slaw and fresh jalapeno corn bread are served as sides, and the plate comes up with heaping piles of french fries and a couple hush puppies. Bring an appetite!

    (4)
  • Nicole W.

The metal dishes are fun. The wait staff outfits add to the environment. I LOVED the fried chicken, hush puppies, and french fries. I could have eaten myself sick on the fried pickles. GREAT for groups. When the weather's nice, you can go out on the water.

  • Ron P.

It doesn't get much better than this! Although service sometimes slacks, the food is awesome. I know that they are attempting to keep the decor, but they need to invest in some Mason Jars or something like that to drink out of- instead of the little tin cups that could be used for a child's tea party. Lunch specials are better than dinner- with more food! I love going to this place- sometimes, I will just drop by to buy a cake of corn bread... it's only a $1.50, and is great with anything!

  • Eric B.

Food was average at best...nothing special. The views were very nice, and not too noisy for the amount of patrons on a Friday night. The cornbread was very dry and overlooked, the fries were not very good. The catfish was okay, but the chicken (strips by the way) were WAY over cooked and dry. Won't be back. The owners should invest in a trip to Aunt Jenny's in Ocean Springs and try and replicate their menu. A lot of potential here...and as a restaurant owner myself, a few changes could take this place to another level. Ducks and scenery only go so far.

If the fryolator goes out, this place will close. Fried chicken strips and catfish, fried hush puppies, fried pickles, fried onion rings, fried french fries. There are only two choices on the menu. I was a little disappointed in that, but the fish and chicken were nicely cooked, so although they don't have much choice, they do good with what they serve. And there is entertainment when the waitress flips the cornbread. If you want fried fish or chicken, you could do worse. If you want a variety, the keep looking. The waitress was very helpful and attentive. Tea comes in tins, food is served on tins. There is a nice view of the reservoir which is pleasant. Oh, and if you want craft beer, forget it. Bud products and lite beer only.

This is a great place to eat. You have a choice of chicken or catfish with sides. The chicken and catfish are delicious as for the coleslaw it is the best I have ever had.

  • Veda M.

Very nice place to dine. I'm sure it would've been much better if we had of eaten here in the daytime not much of a view at night. The fish was great so were the greens and cornbread. The coleslaw was amazing! I really loved the pickled onions they served with the greens and cornbread. The tarter sauce was not worth trying in my opinion. I kept wishing I had some Kraft tarter sauce instead. (Maybe it was just that particular night) The onion rings were just okay. Everyone that worked here was overly nice and helpful which is always a plus. Yes, the menu is very limited that's why I would only eat here when I had a craving for fish or chicken strips with those delicious sides. It's not a place for deep variety and I can deal with that. Also, don't expect to get your thirst quenched quickly. All drinks are served in the small tin cups 2 at a time. I think this just makes more work for the servers. By the time we left I couldn't count how many of those cups were on our table. All in all, this is a really nice place and I do put it at the top of my list.

WOW - The ceiling had so much dust. The dust was hanging down several inches. They would toss the corn bread up into the air, we saw several that hit the dust! How nasty. Only two items on the menu! The employees are very rude. Took over 45 minutes to get one of only two items to the table. Chicken was cooked properly but did not have much flavor. I have had better chicken from McDonald's. It was chicken tenders as well! Wow can't even learn how to cook real fried chicken. The view overlooking the lake is amazing. This restaurant has so much potential but lacks in management, customer service, cleanliness (still grossed out) and good food! After hearing how amazing this place was I am do let down. Will never return!

Loved the Fried Pickles. Collared Greens also very good. Fun to watch them flip the corn bread. Fun to watch when it sometimes hits the floor. Schadenfreude! Catfish was good. Chicken just okay. Hush Puppies and fries just okay. Sits on a reservoir and the views out the window are great. Had to chuckle when I got to enter 'cock' into my GPS so I could find the place.

I ate at Cock of the Walk on New Years Eve. If you don't like catfish, then don't go here. However I do like catfish and Cock of the Walk out did themselves last time I ate there. I love greens and cornbread and the greens were off the chain. So delicious! The cornbread tasted really good. I would have liked to have had a little more rise on the cornbread, but it was good regardless. The catfish fillets were crisp, clean, and flaky white. I do not normally eat tartar sauce, but Cock of the Walk makes a homemade tartar sauce that is so good that I just have to eat it. ha! I could make a meal out of greens and cornbread. Good hushpuppies! Great cornbread! Excellent, clean, cripsy crusted catfish, served pipin' hot! Yum! Our service was good too, and if you have little kids, you can go outside and feed the ducks on the water. Cock of the Walk is a unique experience. Totally southern!

The good thing about Cock of the Walk is the thin crispy strips of catfish fillets which are pretty good (not great), that the restaurant overlooks the water & when they flip the frying pan of kind of greasy cornbread it entertains the kids. The bad thing about them is the limited menu: all they have is fried catfish fillets, fried chicken strips, cole slaw, greens, french fries, corn bread, hush puppies & fried pickles. Period. And they do not carry ranch dressing for the pickles. I'm confident they hear people ask for a ranch dipping sauce for the pickles DAILY, and still they do not carry it. For lunch they offer vegetable sides with the 2 strip lunch special. it would be nice if they offered veggies other than greens at night. Jerry's Catfish in Florence is superior in my opinion.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Nice, cold sweet tea in a metal cup. Catfish was great, and served in classic metal pie plates. The greens were excellent, and the pups were great. And the most FANTASTIC service I've gotten. Great waterfront location, plus the prices are very reasonable! Well worth the drive!

Chicken fingers or Catfish? Those are the choices here at this place. Comes with fries, excellent cole slaw, hushpuppies and pickled onions. We also ordered some onion rings, fried pickles and greens. all was pretty good but my co-worker was disappointed in the greens. He wanted collard and these were turnip. Apparently there is a difference in them. I do not care for greens so i am just repeating what he said. If i have time may go back next week but Jackson is full of other fried food establishments that i want to try.

Small portions at the one in Pocahontas. four small pieces of fish is not worth 12.99. Good food, service decent. just a bit high for what you get.

Catfish or Chicken? It is as good as it gets in the Reservoir area. Great atmosphere right on the water. They have very unique rituals at this restaurant. A must see for anyone coming to the area. Great for the family. Two thumbs up (me and the wife).

All those memories of sultry summer nights on the reservoir, scarfing down fried catfish, hush puppies and gulping sweet tea. I grew up down the street from this restaurant. How could I not be a little biased? All those peppery, fried catfish filets. Creamy and sweet coleslaw (nobody does it better), french fries with the skins still on. Fried dill pickles, big pots o' greens and skillet jalapeno corn bread flipped in front of your very eyes by handsome, strong-armed good ole boys all in a Mark Twain-riverboat themed log cabin. Fast forward 30 years: the catfish is still great (better even, says my Mom), the pickles are still fresh out of the fryer and the tea is still sweet. The french fries have lost their skins, but hey the boys are still cute and the log cabin hasn't changed much. If you get tired of waiting for the food, check out the deck out back overlooking the reservoir. Don't forget to add your business card to the thousands already stapled in the entry room. And grab an Andes mint on the way out, riverboat captain.

If you want to eat on metal plates and sip tea out of a tin prison cup, then this is your dream come true. The food was edible, but the ducks outside are fed well.

Not a bad spot for a first date. You can get a lovely seat overlooking the reservoir. The waitstaff is very unusual with their outfits, but not in a bad way. They have this classic look to them including a huge hat with a feather in it. One of the traditions of the place is when you order cornbread, they bring it out in a small skillet. The waiter then stands on one leg and flips it high in the air and catches it back in the skillet. It's different for a signature item, but is entertaining. The food itself is good, but not as great as it use to be in my opinion. I'm not sure if they changed distributors or not, but the chicken doesn't taste the same to me. Basically, you get a choice of chicken tenders or catfish strips along with veggies or fries. So, don't go there looking for anything other than that. The food is expensive. You can easily be out $30 and you'll wonder what you paid for after you've eaten. Again, nice first date and decent food. I'd recommend it to someone, but I wouldn't build their hopes up.
