A good, albeit slightly over-priced place in Oxford. The food is pretty good and the portion sizes are fair. The beer selection is okay, and reasonably priced. The menu is rather diverse which is a plus, so you can go regularly and try something new, or if you have a group of people hungry for a variety of different tastes. Bathrooms are very clean, but the stall door in the men's room has a hook latch that you'd normally see on a hotel room door, which is very weird.

Extremely slow service.. I'm sitting at the bar with an empty drink for at least 10-15 mins, second time I've been waiting this long today.

Good atmosphere. Outside patio available. Live entertainment sometimes. But personally, the pizzas are all just too greasy. If you go there, be sure to order extra napkins for blotting.

I love the atmosphere including this places predecessors but the poor service and food overshadowed the atmosphere. To be clear, my server was very nice however, it seemed that this place was short handed, even on a Sunday at 4pm. I ordered a beer that arrived in a chipped glass. This is quite possibly my biggest pet peeve at any service establishment. If your bartender is worth is weight, he should be ensuring that your glass is clean and worthy of pouring a pint. I brought this to my servers attention and after 7 minutes, I decided to retrieve me pint that was sitting on the bar while the bartender and manager watched tv. As for the food, coming from a family known for its pizza, I can be a harsh critic. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza and it seemed to be missing marinara. My calzone was fine but we both discussed how light and flaky the thick crust was. Maybe it was an off day but we were very disappointed. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the server really apologized for the poor service.

After an 8 hour car ride this has become our first stop the last couple years. My kids love the Abita Rootbeer and pizza. If you want your everyday pizza toppings go for it but if you feel a little adventuresome then this is the place. They offer a great twist on the same ole boring pie.

Honestly, Oxford has a shortage of great pizza joints, but Soulshine Pizza is easily the best. The live music, patio seating, and location on the Square add to the overall exceptional ambiance. Though it is a chain, the food is authentic-tasting and this place will be here for a long while.

I can't believe this place has bad marks. We were in from South MS for state soccer tournament. The manager accepted a party of 44 at closing time. The food was great, the beer was cold, and the service fantastic. Thanks Chelsea

Casual bar atmosphere. On the famous "square" down the street from the main drag. College place for sure-a little seedy. Nachos were okay. Big enough-the chili was not to my liking. If you try one thing-try the crayfish bisque. Very flavorful with a touch of sherry. My husband ordered it , I tasted it ,and ordered my own bowl! The service was a little slow. Full bar but, if you want to drink wine-I wouldn't recommend it here! Not a big selection unless you like cheaper wines.

Big screen T.V.'s and outdoor seating are all that stand out at this very blah pizza joint.

Great service and great pizza! Lots of toppings and made to order pizzas. Love the bbq nachos! I get them every time

Very causal place- pretty pricy for super greasy food. I know people who swear by their pizza and love this place. However, I do not.. I gave my pizza away to my friends. I felt sick after.

Expensive for what you get. Pizza is good. How hard is it to make a calzone though? I've ordered a calzone three different times and the cheeses are always separated and balled up. You'll eat a whole bite of pepperoni and then a wad of mozzarella. It can't be that difficult. I'd rather go to Papa Johns. It's an ok place to sit at the bar though.

Still waiting... I know it's football season, and in the SEC, but this is ridiculous. This place will tell you the wait is 30 to 45 minutes... But 3hrs later (not a joke) we're still waiting. Shame on us. It's like a dawgone Seinfeld episode. Hotty toddy! Great Pizza! Get the Jacksonian

This place is... not very good. It's pricey for what you get, the atmosphere is poor, and the servers are hit-and-miss. If you go here expecting a mellow mushroom type place, you'll be sorely disappointed. At night, it's impossible to hear anything, and beer is served in shitty teeny plastic cups (for full price!!). The lunch specials also aren't very good. The last time I went (during lunch), our server overcharged us by $6.00.

My wife and I found this pizza place a couple of years ago and we love it. It is an open concept with an almost sports bar feel. There are tvs along one wall playing sports. I highly recommend getting the nachos as an appetizer---amazing! They make their own and put some delicious barbecue, cheese, and sauce on them. However, the pizza is the main attraction. It isn't thin crust. It isn't Chicago-style deep dish. But, it is delicious! There are a lot of unique toppings from which to choose. They offer a traditional white crust, but I believe they have a wheat crust, also. If you're in Oxford, you would do yourself a favor to stop by Soulshine Pizza Factor.

My husband and I who are "Yankee" northerners stopped in here on a Sunday night. We sat at the bar because it was the only place we could get a decent view of a large screen tv, and apparently other than being the only miscegenating couple in the place (which appears to be shocking in Oxford MS), we were also the only ones who wanted to watch the NBA finals play offs. Finally one of the world's mysteries was revealed to me--there is a place where people watch College Baseball and it is in this Southern college town that laments the loss of the war of Northern Aggression. But that aside, this review is really for my non-local compadres and p.o.c's who might be yelping to find where to go in such a town as this. The pizza was tasty enough and you can make your own. The crust is pretty unique--almost like a pita but with the kind of texture that would work with a pizza. Trust me, I know my food. The only cheese they seem to put on pizzas is mozzarella, which I don't get, but ok, I'll go with it. You can apparently put shrimp on anything There are vegetarian options a plenty and even an option for wheat crust. There is a good selection of local beers and indeed the beers come in more shades of brown than you will actually find in the restaurant, where the clientele is mostly dudebro and genteel white lady and GRITS types (Girls Raised in the South--I know my shit!) We stayed through half time of the game because it is kind of redonk to go to a place with 8 large screens with sports and have no ability to hear the game. The bartender on Saturday was sweet as can be and overworked to the max. But overall, decentish food, good beer and hey--its open on Sunday! So the rundown: safe for brown people, not the greatest food but okay. Just be prepared for everyone to stare at you and to have mozz. on your pizza. It's really like riding in the Delorean back to 1985.

Great pizza! Went at lunch time - ate carnivorous pizza (meat lovers)! The large fed 4 people easily!

Most pizza fans prefer New York thin crust pizza or Chicago deep dish. I don't. Thankfully, neither do the folks at Soulshine. Their menu includes gourmet pizzas with unique toppings and combinations. Have the Bob Marley, the CCR, or my personal favorite the Mississippian. The beer and alcohol selection is among the best for an off-square establishment. They offer the seasonal beers from Abita and from Lazy Magnolia, the local brew from Kiln, Mississippi. Yes, I consider Soulshine an off-square restaurant because they are literally off the main square. They should be because the clientele they attract don't harbor the sorts of pretentions one might find on-the-square. One should mention that there are plenty of televisions in the restaurant and above the bar to satisfy the sports fan on any given night. Bartenders and the wait-staff are eager to appease your sports fetish, no matter how bizarre it might be. On one evening, I visited asking to watch the jai alai tournament in Tampa. They turned it on for me! Hooray! This is a cool place and I urge even the snobbiest pizza connoisseur to give Soulshine a try.

Great food and atmosphere! Plenty of televisions to keep up with the game. Lots of different styles of pizza to try. They also have good salads and sandwiches. If you order spaghetti and meatballs, it is a HUGE portion! Enjoy!

Ordered the crayfish and andouille sausage calzone. The calzone was huge for what it cost, but it was really truly awful. Being a calzone, I expected it to be doughy, but there was absolutely too much and it was thick, bland, and unappetizing. The crayfish in the calzone was chewy and tasted frozen. Being a Northerner, I've never been much for crayfish but there's no excuse for crayfish tasting that bad in Mississippi. The sausage was overly spicy and totally threw off the flavor of the entire dish. I ended up basically eating around it, leaving a pile of sausage on my plate. The sauce was unremarkable. Probably the worst part of my evening, however, was the ambience (or lack thereof) of the restaurant. There was mic'd live music playing (in a pizza joint? can I ask why?) and the place was pretty much packed with loud Oxonians, so it was near impossible to hear my companion. I had to lean across the table to make decent conversation. Not to mention the live music was super generic country-folk. I will definitely not be coming back. I've yet to visit the other pizza places in town, but one can only hope they're better than this.

I'm dairy and gluten-free and I don't live anywhere near Oxford and yet I manage to get the first review for a pizza place there? OK... I was in town for a long holiday weekend and, do you know who Jeremy Lin is? Well, do you?!? Because I lived in New York City for 17 years and never cared for basketball (well, men's, anyway) but all of a sudden, the Knicks are a big deal because of this cat. And Sunday was the first nationally broadcast Knicks game I had a chance to see since the Linsanity began. So even though we just drove from Memphis to Clarksdale for lunch at Abe's, we had a couple of hours to kill before the cabin was available to check in to so we went to the square in search of a sports bar. Did you know that most everything food and alcohol-related in the square is closed on Sundays? Probably you did know that. But Soulshine was open and they had - count 'em - 6 TVs broadcasting the Knicks/Mavericks game so we sat at the bar and, with a full bar in front of us that could not pour a drop and a table of kids having a birthday party behind us, we drank our root beers and ate half a pizza (dietary restrictions and a gut full of Abe's ribs be damned), and watched Jeremy Lin make 28 points and 13 assists, or something like that. I still don't really care about basketball. But, oh yeah, the pizza was pretty good. Very thin and crisp crust (not a foldable slice), long on stringy cheese, light on sauce, and a good variety of toppings to add.

Had to go back for seconds on the cream crayfish soup ... If you like shell fish don't be afraid to try crayfish! Going to be my first stop next time I am in town!

Went here on the second day of a visit to Oxford. With so many great restaurants on the square, I felt a little sad for how poor Soulshine was. The atmosphere is casual, the dining area is large and open. Service was prompt and friendly. Lots of tables during a weekday lunch. We had the jerk chicken po-boy, a bowl of chili, and the red beans and rice. The sandwich was bland, chicken over-cooked, bread stale. The chili was absurdly greasy, served with homemade tortilla "chips", which were translucent with grease. The red beans and rice were decently presented, but had a strange, sweet, "several days old but we'll just cover that up" sort of flavor. Very poor, we didn't eat much of anything.
