God it pains me to give these guys three stars - but Memphis is only a 191 miles away from Jackson and the wing businesses up there are tough, every time I go there - a new business opens and you just know they are not going to give you a good wing like Crumpy's or Mister P's - then they deliver a good wing! In Jackson - there really are not, if not at all, mom & pop fast food places, or wing joints, that makes wings like they do in Memphis!? Of course you have Wing Stop and BW3's, but those are franchise businesses and places like Crumpy's and Mister P's just deliver a better wing, with a true hot wing sauce. I would say the closest would be American Deli in Metrocenter and Northpark Malls. But back to The Chicken Den - place was clean, staff was really nice. I ordered the Drummettes only - which was 10 wings (flats and drums) it was $7.50, $8.03 with tax. For the size of the wing, I felt like I should have received the 15 piece special for that price. The wings were really small, the sauce was good - I ordered hot - they had Hot, Honey BBQ, or Lemon Pepper - but they really didn't impress me on the portion end - that's why my review dropped down to 3 - Stars. When I do a review on a restaurant, portions and taste account for 75% of that review - cleanliness, ambiance and courtesy account for the other 25%. They really didn't do anything to pull my business away from Wing Stop and BW3's - considering the Jackson Market. I'm glad there is a place on this side of town offering that kind of grub, I just wish the portions were bigger - considering the prices they are charging. If you live in North Jackson and you want some wings and your headed home from work, its in a convenient location - just hope they improve their portions in the future.
