So me and sis decided to go to dinner so, we could catch up. So I suggested that we go to a restaurant that was closest to my apartment Lou Full Serv Neighborhood Kitchen . As we walked we greeted immediately and we're seated and with beverages in less than a minute. It didn't take long for us to order since I already looked up the menu online. I had the short rib with mushroom risotto and my sister had the shrimp and grits. I must say the short rib was extremely tinder and very tasty with the sauce, however I did which they would have included more of the sauce that would have probably brought the dish over the top. My sisters shrimp and grits were delicious and included MASSIVE pieces of shrimp, It's not the best in the world but for Jackson it's has to be at the top. However all that aside I have to give the winner of last night dinner to the tirusumu with was the best I've ever tasted. Its was absolutely divine. So ala and all I'd give this a B+ in food A+ in service. I would extremely recommend it.

This has quickly become a new neighborhood favorite for lunch or dinner. Service is quick and friendly, and every dish I've had has been delicious and excellently prepared and presented. The cocktails are great too, and they've got a decent beer selection. The atmosphere is laid back, but still super classy. It's a great place to go with friends for a relaxing night.

Had the beef and spinach salad for lunch. Awesomeness! So much flavor. I wanted to lick the plates. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Very impressed with the portion sizes. Most places that are pricey, have a great atmosphere and great flavors have tiny portions. Will definitely come back. So glad to see this in belhaven.

Great service and delicious food! It was very busy on a Friday night, but we got a table pretty quick. I will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu. I had the crawfish fondue and a steak salad.

Man!!! This place is awesome. The ambiance is very lovely and chill. The music is soothing, and is catering to any crowd. I had the intentions of ordering the fettuccini pasta but the burgers seemed a bit more appealing to me. So i ordered the No.9 burger cooked medium. Good thing I requested for the burger to be cut in half because after eating only half of it and a few fries I became very well fulfilled in taste & serving. I can tell even with the bacon on the burger the chefs care about the quality of food. The bacon pieces were thick, preserved with juiciness, and just all around yummy. I can def see myself returning.

Wow, did this place have our number. - First, the food was phenomenal. Second, the decor had both old-school qualities (wood, steam-punk lighting) along with sleek modernism. Third, did I mention the food? - I was kinda hungry but not super hungry. I ate like a pig here. - We saddled up to the bar for a late lunch. The place has this clean yet retro vibe to it. The bar has old wooden elements to it - an old post office window behind the liquors, etc - but a hip feel. I ordered the Bolognese and it floored me! I ate the whole darn thing and it was worth every belly ache afterwards!!! So good!! - I talked to the owner/manager for a bit, which was nice. He really cares about the place, and it shows. - You HAVE to go here if you live in the area. It's a MUST!!!

It took me a while to consider whether or not I should write a review. However, due to the poor experience I had here, I decide I should. Let me be clear, the food tasted amazing. My main course was the Teres Major. So, you are probably asking yourself," Why did this douche give 2 stars to this restaurant?" Well my fellow food lovers, I was thoroughly unimpressed with the customer service. The wait staff was friendly, however their lack of initiative was a huge killer for me, especially after paying $90 for my wife and I to eat. I consistently had an empty glass and my wife had to ask for them to fill up 3 more glasses of water just so she wouldn't run out during our dining experience. Another bummer to this place is, their portions were extremely small. Normally with portion size, my rule of thumb is, you get what you pay for...but most dishes here range from $16 to $30 and for that I expect a decent size plate of food. The single reason why the price to food ratio could be justified in this circumstance is, they use local produce/farmer products with the endorsement of the ingredients being non-GMO; this may even be the case, but it is not stated anywhere on the menu, so I highly doubt it. So my friends, if you want to pay a lot of money for mediocre service and small portions, then Lou's is the place for you.

Get the No. 7 burger. Forget whatever diet you're attempting (or even succeeding at) and eat this. Thank me later. The staff is also great.

Well, The Manship has some competition! Small group of us went to Lou's and loooved everything. Seared tuna over shaved fennel and grapefruit was fresh and bright. The smoked salmon dip was the best I have ever tasted. Steak and spinach salad was perfectly dressed and the candied bacon pieces were little flavor packed nuggets of fun. The pork chop was Flintstone sized and tender - the bean cassoulet that accompanied the chop was a perfect accompaniment. Finally, the seared redfish was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. I can't wait to go back again and try other menu items.

Well did not expect such decadent food from a tavern. Was trying to be healthy and it wasn't hard. No.7 burger with no bun and Caesar salad was perfect. Crawfish cake was light and tasty; Shrimp and grits was cooked perfectly. Even the drinks. I had the Full-serv Tea which is bartender Bobby Thornton's version of a Long Island Iced Tea and its dangerously good.

Lou's is a LOVELY little restaurant in Belhaven. The location is actually pretty convenient - easy access to the interstate via Fortification and of course walkable from the neighborhood. It is never at the top of my mind though, and I worry that might be a problem for them. Dinner prices seem a little high, which is what pulled it down to a 4 star rating. The food is top notch, on par with the Manship or Parlor Market. The atmosphere is great, "full service gas station" themed, but just avoiding being kitschy. Service is always great here as well. As with many nice Jackson restaurants, the lunch menu gets you a great taste of what the kitchen has to offer without the dinner price tag. The lunch menu has a good selection of tasty sandwiches and of course a daily blue plate special for $12 including salad and drink. Dinner is more pricey, but they do have excellent fish options (those can be very hit or miss in Jackson). I highly recommend the Salmon dip appetizer. There is an great outdoor deck. It is fairly well shaded in the afternoon and on the quiet side of the building. Check that out on a breezy day! They have a nice little bar too. Cocktails are mostly served in pint glasses - so you do get good value for your money. This is a fine place for a drink, but if you want a little more more creative and dedicated bar nearby, I would recommend the Manship (who also has a great happy hour!).

My first stop while visiting in Jackson - and it was a homerun! I just shared a couple of plates - but both of them were great! The salmon dip was probably my favorite of the two. Two scoops of salmon dip and strips of crispy bread. The dip was great - I can't put my finger on what all it had in it, but it was delicious. Not too fishy. With a hard boiled egg on top! The mushroom toasts were also delicious. They were a little messy to eat, but super tasty. They had a nice sauce on them, cheese and mushrooms over a thick cut toast (crunchy). Also had a cocktail - Can't remember the name right now but, it was sweet and snuck up on you. I didn't taste the alcohol at all, but I felt it a while later. Also got a local beer from Lucky City! Crisp and refreshing. Pretty good beer selection. The service was great! I didn't get our servers name but he was awesome. Checked in on us from time to time, always smiling...super nice and personable. Overall, a great experience. I'm going to try and come back to try one of the full dishes soon.

My husband and I enjoyed a celebratory evening at Lou's with the best meal I have eaten in the metro area in a long time. The service was prompt and friendly without being intrusive. I can't imagine how any part of the dining experience could have been better. For my meal I had the crab cake on the starter list. Crab cakes are my go to item to try at places I haven't been before. That sets the standard for me. This was by far the best crab cake I have ever eaten. My husband ordered the short rib and risotto which was cooked to perfection. Before going we had been told to save room for dessert, which we didn't do but got some anyway. We shared an order of bread pudding....YUM! If you are looking for a superb meal this is your place.

OK, the time has finally come that Jackson Chef Louis Larose has his own restaurant. As some of you that follow my reviews know, I got to know Lou when he was at the end of his 10-year run with Bravo! as the executive chef. From there, he helped Derek Emerson start Local 463. He left Local 463 and spent time as the Chef at the MS Museum of Art. Now, he has his own place in Jackson and it is every bit as cool as I thought it would be! Lou is just a damn good cook. He knows what to do with food, how to present it and how to make it taste GOOD! There has been a recent surge of new places in Jackson. Some are good, some, not so much. It seems there is a big emphasis on making the menus "edgy" and the vibe in the restaurant equally "edgy" or "trendy" but the portions are small and the plates are expensive and the food is just "ok" Enter Lou's Full-Serv....stage left. Located on the south edge of Belhaven, this place sports a one-of-a-kind menu and feel. My family rolled in there last night in T-Shirt's and shorts and had a fabulous meal of Shrimp, Salmon, Pork Chops and Cheeseburgers. The feel of the place is comfortable with top-notch food. Menu items range from $15-35 at night. They have 6 local brews on tap and a BIG patio. I can't wait to try it all. This place lands square into my top Jackson Hamburger list as well as my top Jackson fine dining lists. Go, you will love it.

Excellent service. Wonderful food. I had the margarita which was one of the best margaritas I've had. The jumbo gulf shrimp with grits is a true southern delight. The red fish is also excellent. If you're getting dessert the blueberry cobbler is the best. We came with our dog and sat on the patio. For such a relaxed place, this is an excellent restaurant that gives attention to every detail. If you are looking for a good meal, friendly staff, and a wonderful experience this is the place for you.

Decent all around. We went here at 11:30AM for lunch on a weekday. We were promptly seated because it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the plate lunch special, which was pork chop that day. The server was nice. The only issue we had was it took nearly an hour to get our food after we ordered. We ordered before a few parties who ended up getting their food first. So, I'm not sure if our server just didn't put our order in or if there was an issue in the kitchen. The food was great, so of course we scarfed it down. Will give this place another try soon.

I enjoyed Lou's the one time I visited a couple months ago. I can't remember exactly what I had, it was pasta. I do however remember the service was spectacular and the environment is nice

It kills me to write this review, since I like to compliment restaurants with great food. The food was delicious, but I left very disappointed after ordering the seared scallops. I felt like I received "a taste" of a dish before deciding to order it and have an actual dish brought out to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but THREE scallops is cutting it pretty slim...with three, maybe four asparagus halves. To top it off, the waiter told us he was proud of us upon finishing our entrees. I felt as if that must be an ongoing joke meant to create an illusion that the servings were massive. I am never one to expect to feel disgustingly full after leaving an establishment, but to feel "satisfied" is a must. We stopped for something else to eat afterwards because we left hungry. Again, the food was great, but should you really be able to get away with a $28 dish that skimpy?

Lou's has the most flavorful food I have ever had in my life. Their Fettechini Alfredo dish is amazing! And their deserts will blow your mind.

Best new restaurant in Jackson! Lou's Full-Serve is a fantastic combination of delicious food, superb service, and upscale casual decor. Jeremy is an excellent bartender whether you want a libation with alcohol or without, and their burger will soon be voted the best in town, possible the state! The onion rings are perfectly crispy, the crab cakes are no-filler, and the desserts are to-die-for!!!

The no.7 burger is amazing, a must try!! The service was wonderful, very polite, attentive and helpful. Their grilled fish sandwich was also very good.

So I will say I've know Louis for a while. But his new place off Fortification next to McDade's is fantastic. I have had the Red Fish twice and my wife has had the fish special. Both times the food was great and the service was great as well. Good beers on tap and a tv in the bar to watch the game. Kid friendly and the place has a great feel to it. Laid back, not pretentious. Just good food served by good people. Louis and his staff are doing great things. Go and enjoy!

This may very well be my favorite new restaurant in the metro area. You will feel comfortable in shorts or a tux. The ambiance is simple elegance. The food is also simply elegant. Don't look for a huge menu just good food. The staff is friendly and prices are good for the portion you receive. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped for lunch and had their raved about hamburger Ordered it medium rare but served rare Service was poor as my server was tending bar as well as me and was more interested in bar keeping Burger was below average in taste as well as dry?? ( rare should have been juicy not NOT) Atmosphere nice but I can not eat that All in all $11.00 for a burger and $2.75 for tea too darn high for what I was served

I ordered scallops at Lou's. They were delicious and flavorful, but overpriced. The desserts were amazing. Great spot for a fancy date.

Great food and friendly wait staff. Crawfish fondue was a good appetizer choice, and I also recommend the redfish. Will be back.

I ordered the pork and beans and the blueberry cake cobbler with buttermilk ice cream and vanilla sauce. The chop was cooked to perfection and the braised greens and beans complimented it well. The cobbler was out of this world! I can't wait to return and try other items on the menu, the Teres Major looked like it would be delicious.

The food was 5 stars but the service was awful. My server was a tall blonde girl and she was rude and expressionless. If I walked in and saw her again I would leave or ask for a different server. The chairs were quite uncomfortable. Overall I would eat there again but get it to go. The chef/owner shouldn't have to suffer based on poor servers but they need to get a handle on it.

Had a great girls night out dinner. Five of us shared three of the #9 hamburgers. We weren't sure if it would be a full meal, but a half for each was MORE than enough and we like to eat, lol. The hamburger was huge and delicious - thick bacon and more. The onion rings were perfection. French fries reminded us of "potato logs" done right. We split tiramisu - it was good but very non-traditional. It was more pralines and cream than tiramisu but if you like praline flavor it is great. Great service, also. I want to go back for the artichoke bottom appetizer, for sure.

Went for lunch today. By far the best burger in Jackson, maybe the best I've ever had. I had the No. 7 with candied bacon, white cheddar, grilled green tomato and onions, and a smoked tomato-bacon (I think) aioli. Fries were very good too. Can't wait until I can go for dinner.

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. I had the short ribs which were tender and perfect. My girlfriend ate the burger. It is to absolutely delicious. The service was attentive. I wholly recommend eating here.

I had the teres major and my boyfriend had the short ribs! Both were great! Coming from the west coast, my taste buds maybe a little different, the sauce was very good just very very flavorful to my perfect likings. Everything overall service, ambience, and food was great! I will definitely be back to try something different. We ended our night with some tiramisu. That was fluffy and delicious as well, flavor was not overpowering.

Really the best place in the metro area to eat. My favorite for birthday, anniversary or any occasion. Every. Single. Thing. I've eaten here has been perfection!

The restaurant is hidden away in a shopping strip, but don't give up on your search! It is so worth it. Excellent scallops on risotto and superb shrimp on angel hair pasta with artichokes and spinach. And the sauces, I can't describe them!!! Bread pudding coming up.

Wonderful meal. I had the short rib and my wife had the red fish. Both were delicious. We split the apple torte for desert and it was great. This was our first visit to Lou's. Nice atmosphere and good service. We will be back.

Went here for Dinner a few weeks ago and lunch recently. The chicken carbonara pasta was good. The meatloaf sandwich was good but I got a taste of the "b.e.l.t. Sandwich and damn, was it good. The check situation was bad both times with mixing peoples foods and drinks and amounts but they'll figure all that out soon. Belhaven has another good Resturant. Way to go!
