Chargrilled oysters are the best ever. I guess being from New Orleans I can really appreciate this atmosphere....

I've been to the New Orleans location & thoroughly enjoyed the food, although the service wasn't too pleasing... Recently visited the Jackson MS location for the first time & it was the complete opposite of N.O. The service was excellent, but the food wasn't so good. The gumbo was too rich (highly seasoned) and wasn't warm at all, & they only give you a couple spoonfuls in a gigantic bowl; the bread was too tough & chewy (you would need alligator teeth just to chew it). On the other hand, my mom had catfish & it was fresh & hot & lightly seasoned. I think the Jackson team need a little more training in the kitchen!

Drago's is known for their char grilled oysters, which I have enjoyed at their New Orleans location. Once they opened in Jackson I made a commitment to try them out. I was not disappointed. Two of us, so we ordered two dozen of the char grilled oysters, and they were delicious. I tried not to embarrass myself by licking the shells, they were so tasty. The location is huge, much larger than I expected from outside. Could easily handle large groups. I have no idea about the rest of their menu, and am in no hurry to find out. I will continue to partake of the oysters as long as I can.

Not a fan - although I don't eat oysters! Recently had dinner here with friends. They were out of everyday house brands of liquor and some of their appetizers. The only thing great about the meal was the house salad. Great chopped salad with an Italian dressing. I had the fried shrimp platter and was very disappointed. The fries were terrible. They had to be frozen and even gave frozen fries a bad name. The fried shrimp were just ok. I will not spend that type of money again and mediocre food.

If you go don't miss the great oysters. I have found the entrees to be a mixed bag, some good some not so good. The thing I find most disconcerting is how loud the restaurant can get depending on where you sit and what time you go. Not a bad place just not one of my favorites either.

Went there in a Tuesday night at 6pm and it was busy. We walked there as we are staying at Jackson Hilton hotel next door. The only reason for 2 stars vs 1 star was the charbroiled oysters were excellent. The rest of our food was below average at best. The salad is a joke ..the servers never cleared our plates even after asking several times. The lobster Mac and cheese was borderline inedible it tasted like a full brick of generic cheese was used. I would definitely skip this one next time.

Drago's showed up in Jackson around the same time Seafood R'evolution was coming - with much less fanfare. Overall this restaurant is fine, but uninspiring. There are some good dishes but most of the menu feels and tastes like chain seafood that tried a little harder. If you want really good, creative food, you're going to have to go somewhere Downtown or Fondren. The atmosphere is nice and the service is pretty attentive, but I have not been when they are packed. The location is fine, even though it is County Line road, it is right by the interstate, making it pretty easy to get in and out. The restaurant shares a parking lot with the Hilton, which can get busy sometimes. They have, however, recently annexed part of a parking lot next door which should alleviate some trouble. The first time I went everything seemed too rich. There was too much salt and spice on everything and too much butter (guys, it is hard to do have much butter but they did it). The oysters they had were unremarkable. The dishes were fine, but again, it was not anything special. High points on the menu may be lunch - I had a great crab salad and gumbo combo once. Though the crab salad was just some pretty good crab set atop what looked like a caesar salad - fine, but not terribly well thought out. Overall this is a fine restaurant if it is one of your only options. There are some good dishes you might get into and they do have generally fresh seafood. Just don't get too excited about it. If you want oysters, go to Saltine.

This is my second time at this Drago's. I do like the way they prepare their charbroiled oysters. However today they seemed to have a bit more oil this go round. The salad was kinda pitiful (basic bagged salad mix), but I do like the house dressing. It was like a tangy ceasar. I chose the shrimp linguini for my entree. The sauce was good. The shrimp were a medium size. The lunch portion was more than enough. Overall I'm not pressed to come back. With so many competing restaurants in Jackson, this isn't even in the top ten. The food is meh. The servers were really nice though.

While we're on the road from tx to Georgia and decided to stop at this restaurant based on other reviews. The food was phenomenal our waiter Brian was fantastic and very efficient! I had a cup of the shrimp and corn bisque and my daughter the Gumbo, both amazing!!! I have my other half was with me, who is the pickiest of picky and who also doesn't eat seafood and they made him a custom dish!!! Portions were large! Loved this place!!!

De-lici-ous. Fantastic! I went here for lunch, and that has to be the best time to go. Their lunch menu includes a whole Maine lobster for $20. The hubby was so happy he wanted to come back and eat here every single day until we left Jackson. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine. The sauce was deliciously creamy, and not oily at all. We ordered a dozen raw oysters on the half shell that were tasty. Also ordered at the table was the half lobster topped with crab stuffing and that person refused to share so I think it was good! Our server was on point and very very good at his job. I wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. Will very likely eat here again when I'm in Jackson in the future.

Food was amazing. Great portions on the pasta dishes. The char grilled oysters are to die for.

My husband is from New Orleans so we were pretty excited to see this place open up. He is a huge fan of their charbroiled oysters. I am from Mobile, so I am always up for creole food, too. We had the charbroiled oysters as an appetizer, he had the catch of the day, and I had the shrimp and grits. First off, I found it amusing that the waitress described the catch of the day - drum - as a "black red fish". Lol. Anyways, the oysters are really great. I personally prefer my oysters raw or Bienville, but charbroiled is very good. However, I found them incredibly salty. One was enough for me, which was a shame because the other flavors of the seasoning were fantastic. Our salads were delicious! My shrimp and grits were good; the shrimp were large and the andouille and tomatoes stewed within were also pretty delicious. I found the grits to be seemingly flavorless, but paired with the sauce it really didn't matter. I just prefer Gouda grits ;). I do recommend this plate if you're trying to decide what to eat. However, be prepared to drink about 2 glasses of water with it. SO SALTY! My husband ordered the fish Cajun style, and said it was almost inedibly salty. He knows and loves Cajun food, so for him to say this you know there's something not right about this. His corn maque choux (which is corn, spices, bell peppers, etc) was also almost inedibly salty. With America's health state the way it is, it should be a crime to salt the food the way they do. Salt is supposed to subtly enhance food's flavor, not to be the flavor. I hope the manager takes this review seriously because the food has such wonderful potential and qualities. Furthermore, the ambience is wonderful and promotes an enjoyable experience. The wine list was great too. I really want to give this Drago's 4 stars, but I simply can't because of how incredibly salty the food is.

Charboiled Oysters were great! They were cooked perfectly. Fried Shrimp Platter had 10 shrimp, my husband enjoyed it.
(5)R.W. W.
Gabrien was great, service was great. Food was great but don't expect a Maine lobster if you order one. Great location next to the Hilton good drinks. I have a feeling their creole menu is top shelf
(4)Big E E.
Raw and charbroiled oyster are always good. Lobster Marco is great as well. Really good food for jackson mississippi!!!
(3)Melissa M.
Had a group dinner here tonight. A couple of us had the shrimp pasta based on the server's rec - a boatload of pasta and cream sauce with 8-9 medium shrimp and some small crab pieces. It was good if you can take full on cream/butter/cheese. It came with a salad (not listed on menu) which was "meh". Service was fine. Waiter took the order and another crew brought it and called out dishes for us to claim. Everything was slow - took two hours to order and eat. We shared two desserts. One was a scoop of ice cream covered in a cool whip type concoction and choc syrup. Bleh. The other was a scoop of cheesecake on choc crumbs with a fruit drizzle - it was very good. Lighter than normal cheesecake but delicious. It was the best thing I've had here.
(4)Gabe C.
Ate with my fam, and everyone was TOTALLY satisfied. The kids loved the Lobster Mac & Cheese, the oysters were the best I've ever had, and the service was great.
(5)Ken K.
THE MOST DISAPPOINTING MEAL I HAVE HAD THIS YEAR!! I was unimpressed with the food. The famous baked oysters were expensive and all right but not worth the price. The lobster mac and cheese would have been better if it actually contained some lobster. The seafood gumbo was an utter disappointment. The catfish was not even as good as cracker barrel's. I also had a $13.00 long island ice tea that didn't even give me a buzz. Very expensive. Very underwhelming.

This is nothing like the one in NOLA. Food isn't good, prices are too high, what more can I say? I ordered the crawfish étouffée and they gave me a small amount with Chinese shrimp (small ones even though we're in season) and my brothers lobster was also sad. Will not be coming back. The charbroiled oysters were good and the staff was friendly, other than that, this place is dead in the water.
(2)Anissa F.
The oysters and po'boys are delicious! Cant wait to come back.
(4)Peter C.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. I had a cup of Seafood Gumbo, a dozen charbroiled oysters, and bread pudding. It was perfect! Looking forward to the regular menu which is coming in January: Shucky-Ducky is one of my favorites.
(5)AnaMaria B.
Great food and atmosphere. We had the catfish platter, their famous grilled oysters and mac & cheese with lobster (wish there were a couple more pieces of lobster). Food was delish!
(5)Heather N.
Best and biggest oysters I've ever had. Their raw oysters are amazing, but so are the grilled. You can't go wrong here. Will be going back very soon!
(5)Julie K.
It was very good. I had the seafood gumbo and lump crabmeat salad. Next time I'd ask for dressing in the side as it was a bit heavy. Friendly staff who seem to enjoy their job. I was here at lunch and it seemed very busy and regularly enjoyed by locals.
(4)Angela E.
I have dined in Dragos quite a few times since they have opened. Today, I experienced poor quality of food and not such great customer service. It was during lunchtime and the restaurant wasn't extremely busy. The waiter didn't seem genuine, but did the basic service. The food took over 30 minutes to get to the table and when it did, it was like warm. The only thing that was good were the oysters. The Chargrilled oysters are absolutely, all hands down....AWESOME!!! The staff should be trained on table etiquettes and sanitation!!!!
(3)T S.
I was here on a business trip and stayed next door. Good selection of beers. Get the grilled oysters, not the raw. Much better. Good variety of lobster dishes. Great bar tends. Waitresses need to look happy. Side salad tasted like it came out of a bag a week old. I would come back. Get the alligator nuggets with a draft IPA. Great bar service.
(4)David C.
The raw oysters were huge! I had to cut them in half and they still covered my cracker. The fried shrimp was a let down. They were way over breaded .
(4)Jerry E.
Went here for dinner, so disappointed. As a customer of the original I was sadly disappointed. The lobster was so over cook it was rubbery, the sauce was good but the shrimp were overlooked and mushy and the vein was not removed. Nasty. Will not be returning, prices way to high for low quality.
(2)M B.
Fantastic place to eat, service was good also. We had charbroiled oysters and gumbo. Really, really good! Nice dark roux, and meat (chicken, sausage) was plentiful. Then we had the raspberry cheesecake, wow was that ever good!... We will return!
(5)Jordan E.
This place is wonderful. Great atmosphere, great people. Amazing food!! I was slightly underwhelmed when receiving my stuffed lobster, not as much meat as other places, but it was good nonetheless. Our server, Jenifer, was helpful and gave us suggestions for lunch and dessert. My godfather and my dad got the Hot brownie a la mode, I got the creme brulee. The creme brulee was delicious, had a nice shell on top, absolutely covered in whipped cream. The brownie, oh man, was covered in a mountain of whipped cream, a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a delicious warm brownie. We will be coming back.
(5)Keith B.
Very bad service. Took 2 hours to get food after we ordered and the order was not correct. We will not return. Food was average.
(2)Dawne S.
The food and service was 5 stars however the amount of food for the price was a little crazy! And whatever you do, DO NOT order a double Crown and Coke - $17 is totally outrageous!!
(3)Allen T.
Great wait staff. Fantastic oysters. No problems. Don't order a steak. Never order a steak at a seafood restaurant.
(5)Pat J.
Not good. Had the spinach dip and it taste like it was made with can cream of spinach. For my next item I had the shrimp and corn bisque. The bisque was very thin, soupy seemed to be made with canned corn and very small not fresh shrimp. Last I had the catfish platter. The fish was fried in FLOUR. This is Mississippi. Since when do we cook in flour? Awful. No seasoning. Soggy fries. I now live out of state and was so glad to be coming home for a good meal. This was not it. The meal was sooooo over priced. I had a Popeyes size meal without the flavor for $25. Don't waste your time and money
(1)Steve S.
Great service. Great food. We had Chelsea for our server and she was awesome. Great job. Food was hot and seasoned perfect. At the table, BBQ shrimp PoBoy, drum fish special, seafood pasta, and a oyster PoBoy tossed in rémoulade sauce. Moved afterward to the bar with Jeff and Shane for a very cold draft.
(5)Atlanta F.
Sat at the bar for lunch. Had baked red fish with collard greens and salad. Great service and attention. Would happily return when in town again.

I was so excited to look out the window in my hotel room to see a Drago's next door! I had been to the one in New Orleans and didn't even know it was a chain. I don't even like oysters but was convinced to try the chargrilled ones in New Orleans and I've been craving them ever since. I marched right on over and ordered them on my first night in Jackson. They were exactly as I remembered.....to die for! We also ordered spinach and collard greens on the side. The first order of sides were small so we ordered another. The second order came out bigger. Needless to say, they tasted great. Our server was great in the bar. I wish I could remember his name. I felt I needed to give this place 5 stars because it's definitely not a 3.5 star kind of place! I'm going back tonight and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
(5)Marie L.
The food was delicious. The steak was so tender. The oysters were great. Atmosphere was ok.
(5)Deb W.
Fabulous food and service. Charbroiled oyster and oyster chowder and empire lobster. Tabby is an excellent server and met Alison the GM. Outstanding and could not find a better way to end a great vacation. Brought home oyster chowder since they are 3 hours away. Yum
(5)Colleen H.
Over seasoned food and a very rude waitress. Our drinks were never refilled and she made a fuss about my infant child being with us in a carseat.
(3)James S.
My first visit here. I am hoping that this was an anomaly. I will try again and my hopes are for the staff to get it together. The food was great, the ambience was OK. The service staff was horrible and the management didn't seem to care. The servers need more training and should focus on customer satisfaction. Accuracy, timeliness and attentiveness are things they should focus on. The cooks do an outstanding job. The management needs to manage, a Friday night during a grand opening cannot be on auto pilot.
(2)Kellie B.
We were here about a week after the opening during my holiday visit with my family. There was no wait at 6pm on a Friday, but it was filling up fast. Having been to the NOLA locations many times over the years, I was hoping this would live up to that level of service and food quality. It simply did not. Charred oysters were our appetizer and they were overcooked, the bread was way too tough, too. I've had numerous plates of these over the years, these did not live up to the standard. My redfish entree, severely overcooked. My Dad had the seafood pasta and the sauce was a tasteless watery mess. I'm not the type to send food back, and even if I would have, our server was so in the weeds at that point, it just wasn't worth the hassle. Overall, the dinner was a bust and I was severely disappointed. I really hope this location can get it together. I love the fact that every time I visit this is a dining option, but if it keeps up this way, I doubt it will be my first choice ever again when in Jackson. I'll stick to Crechale's or Mayflower.
(2)J S.
A lunch time business lunch....service extremely slow. Food was good, not great. Turnip greens served with entree, but no pepper sauce in the whole place! Who doesn't put pepper sauce on turnip greens?
(3)Berry G.
I was so happy to visit Jackson for Christmas and see that this place just opened there. I fell in love with the one in New Orleans last summer. I had the fried shrimp po boy and it was AMAZING!!!!! The seafood pasta is good too. Now we need a Drago's in Atlanta!!!!!
(5)Daniel P.
The food was great, unfortunately was clouded by a really slow service and we had to wait for a waiter for 10 minutes just to get our drinks.
(4)Jordan T.
Great food!! Chargrilled oysters are a must. Ordered the shrimp and grits with tasso and it was delicious. Service was quick and servers were friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone who likes seafood or wants some true Louisiana cuisine.
(5)mary e.
It is really nice inside, and the wait staff very attentive. What we ate was good, BUT if feel that it is overpriced. And there is not much of a lunch menu. It is extremely difficult to eat a healthy lunch. All the fish items at lunch were fried. There is an extensive menu, but more of a dinner place.
