Damn Good BBQ! Passing through for work and asked the hotel staff where to get some good local BBQ. I was very happy with their suggestion of coming here. I saw the review that it was closed forever but it is NOT CLOSED and was packed when I came for lunch. The brisket was a little soggy after sitting in the serving tray for awhile but the pulled pork was awesome. Also here I finally found some fried ocra that was actually delicious and not just deepfried mush. If you're around the area and hungry, stop in here!

The Chimneyville pulled pork barbecue sandwich has got to be the best in the world . Perfection in the lightly sweet bbq sauce and I take mine with their great slaw atop the q sauce and then cut the stuffed bun in half then fourths . Yahee ! Way Wonderful ! Jane H

We landed in Jackson, and headed straight to this place. I'm originally from Texas, but I live in New England so my goal is to find some BBQ upon arrival. We weren't disappointed at all. I had BBQ chicken and my wife had pulled pork sandwich. Delicious! I drank two glasses full of sweet tea. You choose your sides (mashed potatoes and lima beans). When we went to another town in MS, they asked us if we had gone here. Good sign!

Great ma and pa southern food restaurant. 7 dollars gets you a big sandwich (pork/brisket) with 2 big sides. Enjoy!

Tasty sandwich--plenty of meat, nice smoke flavoring with light sauce (not thick or catsup-y/ tomato-y). Fresh bun. Coleslaw similarly lightly dressed, crisp. Flavors perceptible and not overwhelmed by sauce or spices. Used drive-thru for Saturday lunch. Prompt, pleasant service. No other customer in sight (why?) Good value for money, but they could be more generous with napkins...a bit messy!

Every once in a while I feel lucky. Not like, "I'm going to play the lottery" lucky, but more like, "wow, what did I do to deserve this?" lucky. May 23 was one of those days. On our once in a lifetime road trip vacation, we rolled into Jackson at 2:30 pm. Since the BF was on a BBQ tour along the banks of the Mississippi River, we needed some BBQ stat. The sign said "Fried Catfish Special Today," which is perfect for me, so we went to park the car. But Uh Oh. Chimneyville closes at 2 pm. The nice ladies getting off their shift couldn't think of any open barbecue joint on par in quality that might also serve fish. As we were getting ready to leave, Z, who I presume is the owner, came out and offered to feed us even though they were closed. YAY!!! The place was adorable with great signage, red gingham table cloths, and a large dining room. My BF said the pulled pork was out of this world. The potato salad was the best I've ever had. (Don't tell my grandmother!) And my catfish was cornmeal breaded crunchy deliciousness! The sauce is thin, spicy, and not too sweet. I don't believe the meat comes pre-sauced (sorry for not being in the know as I have not eaten poultry or red meat in 25 years.) Our meal was fabulous and we were very appreciative of Z's hospitality. He really didn't have to do that at all, but he did and boy are we lucky!

Last meal in MS. The braised brisket and mac n cheese with sweet tea satisfied my BBQ buffet kick. Yum. Price was cheap or decent.

Being a Yankee (Red Sox variety) who seeks out good BBQ all over the South, I just love this place. The food is on par with some of the out-of-the-way back-roads places. I love the pulled pork, the ribs, the chicken, all the sides.... I think I put on a quick 10 pounds for the week I was in Jackson...all of it @ Chimneyville. What is it with the 'sweet tea' y'all drink? It would seem impossible to actually get that much sugar to dissolve in water, but I guess thats how its done. I love BBQ and when I am in Jackson, this is my must-hit place and if they served it for breakfast, I'd be there too. Thanks Chimneyville!

Chimneyville has a nice location on High Street right across from the State fairgrounds. You order at a service counter (like at a cafeteria), pay and you take the food and sit down at a table. They specialize in pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked chicken--you can get individual items or combo dinners--since I was new and wanted to try out as much as possible I opted for a 2 meat combo with 2 sides. I had chicken, pork, collared greens, mac & cheese, and jalapeño cornbread. The chicken was a little dry (could have been that I was there at the tail-end of lunch), but the pork was fantastic and stealing the show was the jalapeno cornbread--absolutely amazing. This is a great option for lunch in Jackson.

I could have sworn I reviewed this already! Anywho. This was once our go to lunch place, but we started to branch out after a while. I can't say there is anything wrong with this for a really fast, blue plate (so to speak), lunch place. The food is generally pretty good, consistent if nothing else. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm a fan. BBQ wise, not the best by any means, but again, very good for what you get!
