Good food, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Tasty food. The fried chicken sliders were awesome (super juciy). The shrimp that came with the appetizer sampler had a little kick that made them great. The tilapia fish tacos were also very good. The menu needs to be updated. Other than that what a great place.

Love it. I would have been 5 stars, but it seems to take longer than usual to get your food. I can't get enough of the "AL Capone" sandwich.

I stopped in for a casual dinner. I just ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. I was a little disappointed with the breast portion. It was a little on the small side. The side salad was fresh and the raspberry vinaigrette was really good. My server was very nice and friendly. I would come back if ever in the area again.

This place has a very casual ambience and two room - the bar has plenty of tvs to watch various games and the dinning room is more quiet with both booth and table seating. The appetizers seem to be more for the bar area rather than an Italian restaurant, nothing bad, nothing great but certainly not Italian. The pizzas are meh but the pastas are where it's at. Although the portions are smaller than Italian the value is in the flavor - this is easily my favorite Alfredo. All pastas come with a salad which makes the meal fully satisfying. I have yet to have one but the sandwiches I've seen go to other tables look plentiful and yummy. I've yet to try dessert. Service has always been good on my multiple visits and the place is kept incredibly clean. A couple will leave here with a tab under $35 and full bellies!

I had never been to a Windy City before so I thought I'd try a Chef Salad. MISTAKE! I did take out and called in my order. I entered the place and two young ladies were moving tables around and cleaning I'm assuming. They looked straight at me and didn't offer a smile, a greeting or anything. I made my way to the bar after stopping another employee to ask where I pick up an order. It's a bar atmosphere for sure. Dark and dingy is my impression of the place. My order came soon and I left. I got home and opened the container and low and behold it's a large salad. The problem was it had a freaking 1/2 a pound of ham and turkey deli type slices crammed on top of the ice burg lettuce. I swear I wish I had taken a picture! It was Walmart deli type meat dumped a mile high. I pulled all of that cheap meat from the salad and fed it to my dog. Seriously! I then threw the rest in the trash. What a joke! No presentation of the darn salad and it was nasty to see a pile of sliced deli type meat piled up in a heap. I thought it would be a nice salad of mixed greens with sliced up meats arranged with tomatoes, cheeses, etc. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY unless you enjoy dumping a package of Oscar Meyer turkey/ham on top of ice burg lettuce and paying triple for it.

The service here was wonderful. Our drinks were always full and the server was patient and answered all our questions. The food was good, yet not authentic "Chicago style" as advertised.

Wonderful restaurant on the historic square in Hernando. Wonderful menu selection, tasty food, excellent service, and great atmosphere. One of my favorite places to eat in DeSoto county!

Pizza is better than you'd expect, and everything else I've gotten on the menu is pretty good. Service is mediocre.

Since moving to Memphis, I've had a difficult time finding a solid Italian food establishment. I've heard good things about Windy City, but have been pushing it off due to distance. Finally, the girlfriend and I bit the bullet and made the drive down to Hernando; aren't we glad we did! We walked in to this establishment and it had a sports-bar type feel to it, which honestly surprised me a little bit as I was expecting the typical "frills" of an Italian restaurant. However, I am a huge fan of the sports-bar type of environment so I kept an open mind. I took a look at the menu and was greatly pleased with the affordable prices of all the entrees. After we had a hard time determining what appetizer we want, we decided to indulge and get the appetizer sampler. In addition, I got the chicken parmigiana over spaghetti and marinara and the girlfriend got fettuccine alfredo. We got the sampler and were amazed at the hearty portion of food presented. A couple notable items off of the sampler were the onion rings and buffalo shrimp; everything was quite tasty but these two items really stood out for us. I didn't notice until after the fact that they sell $5 pitchers of domestic pitchers on Sundays (as well as $1 off appetizers, bonus!) so these would be a fantastic starter for Sunday Football when it comes around. The salads came out and was your run-of-the-mill side salad. There was nothing special about it, although the bleu cheese was chunky which was nice (not a fan of a runny bleu cheese dressing). Then the entrees came out, and a smile came over my face when I saw the gorgeous presentation of the chicken parmigiana; it had a great deal of promise based upon appearances alone. I took my first bite, and immediately realized that I had found a place to call an Italian food home. The marinara sauce was thick and flavorful, the portions were generous, and the chicken was perfectly crisp on the outside and moist within. I tried a bite of my girlfriends fettuccine alfredo and it also was rich in flavor; this is exceptionally noteworthy as I find most alfredo pastas to be rather bland. This one was rich in flavor and did not shy away from the garlic, which I am a huge fan of. The only significant drawback of the place was the wait between ordering and actually receiving any food, hence why I'm docking this place a star. However, they were very attentive on refilling our drinks and were exceptionally friendly throughout. Not only did the server ask how everything was with each course, but the manager was sure to come around to ask how everything was on a couple occasions. This to me is one of the primary touches of a place that serves Italian; a friendly manager or owner who truly cares about customer service and isn't too proud to hit the floor themselves to make you feel welcome. The server was also conversational which was a huge plus. The meal came out to be slightly above $40 with tip and everything, which was a TREMENDOUS deal. Realistically, a typical couple could probably eat here on around $30 (we went over the top with this visit). I look forward to coming back here time and time again to try other things on their menu!

Our local watering hole.. Bar staff is always awesome. Food is pretty good. I like the catfish sliders (no cheese) and their giant salads are delicious. Hot wings are great, the sausage platter is perfect for pickin', and the prices are good.

The chicken Alfredo is not that good. The pasta and sauce were fine but they put CANNED CHICKEN CHUNKS in it too and it's hella awful. The hail Caesar salad was a fool too. The one in Como, Ms is AWESOME though! I'd recommend that one for sure.

Stopped in while driving thru from Memphis to Biloxi on a Sunday. Front of menu states daily lunch specials for Monday through Friday and on the other side states daily blue plate lunch specials. I guess Sunday is not daily. Disappointed. Ordered hamburgers and service was crazy slow. Took about 30 minutes to get our food and was not that busy. Burger was delicious but way over cooked (ordered medium well and got well with burn on the edges). Nice atmosphere. I would recommend as long as you're not in a hurry.

Great food every time I have been, love the cocktails too! Give it a shot! You'll be pleasantly surprised by the variety! The service was fine too but it was not a busy night...

The food is not good at all. Have given this place a lot of chances and tried different things but it all taste pre made and microwaved. However the bar here is really nice they have trivia and karaoke nights which are always fun. So, eat before then head here for drinks or trivia.

The food is not good here, just look at the pictures. The bar is fun on certain nights and the people working are very nice but service can be spotty. The two stars is for the bar on trivia and karaoke nights. They have some good drink specials on certain nights.

We have ate here probably a handful of times. Pizza was good, and the rest of the food is just average. Biggest problem is service and time to it takes to eat. We've actually sat down in there before and sat at a table for 15 minutes and nobody came by our table. So we got up and never came back to Windy City Grill again. Other times it has taken 1.5 hours to eat. Until they fix the service issues, I will pass.

I am not impressed at all with the Windy City Grille. My family and I tried to eat there for lunch and waited forever to be seated. They were not busy and had waitresses walking around. We tried to get one of the them to stop but she just ignored us. So we went somewhere else. Later that same day, some friends wanted to eat there and ranted and raved over the place saying it was just a fluke and they had never had bad service, so we tried it again. To sum it up, the service was very poor, the food was not good, and the price was very high for what you get. We will not be going back. There are better places to eat, with better food and service, and much lower prices.

I really wanted this place to be fantastic, but it was just okay. People are nice, but my meals haven't been anything to write home about. They do however make a mean salad. They charge waaaay too much for desert. They should change who they get their deserts from. There are options around town in Hernando for upping the quality of their desert menu.

The past few visits have been sub par and I will not be going back after this last visit. The last visit - whose review seems to have disappeared - was horrid. I was there in May 2012. The fried portabellos were just unpalatable. I'd have sent them back, but my waiter disappeared. The couple seated after me, and in the booth next to me, had prompt service. Alas, they sent food back. The sauce for the mushrooms was just ranch dressing - not horseradish - which is what I was told they had. The calzone - ordered with garlic, mushroom, sausage, and cheese - was just bland and icky. The cheese tasted old, the garlic appeared MIA, and pastry part was not good. It was inedible. Again, I'd have sent it back but my waiter was gone. I should have taken the 10 minute wait for a drink order or to be acknowledged, on a not busy night, as an omen. it is a shame because the Windy City Grill in Como, MS is pretty good. And this one used to be but just don't see myself going back.

I eat here weekly. The Miracle Mile chopped salad is my favorite. A small order is plenty. Spaghetti and meatballs are good. Barque pizza is yum. Kareoke on Wednesday nights.

I love this place. There have been a few restaurants at this location that have crashed and burned, and I hope that doesn't happen here. We used to drive to the one in Como and we were thrilled when they opened the Hernando location. We've been there at least a dozen times and had wonderful service and food. My favorite dish is the broccoli pasta, and my husband loves the meatball pizza. Delicious food, wonderful wait staff and quick service. We need more businesses like this in Hernando.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
