In a span of 12 days I've come to Mahogany Bar three times. Each time I've been alone and sat at the bar. The bartender, Cody, was very friendly and took the time to not only talk to me about the food and beers but to just shoot the breeze even with a fairly busy bar on a Saturday night. The food is all extremely good! I've gotten the corn and crab bisque everytime as an appetizer, I thought that was the best appetizer they had but was suprised when the crawfish and boudine fritters surpassed the corn and crab bisque delicious flavor. So, great food and great barkeep. This place would be great just for those two qualities, but the beer selection, mixed drink quality, and knowledge of them all put this place even higher on the "gotta come here" list. You won't be disappointed when you decide to make the trip here. I recommend this place to everyone and have no hesitation rating this place 5 full stars!

Great selection of cold beer. I had two appetizers. Both were very good. The staff was very friendly. If you stop in Hattiesburg stop here for some food and drinks.

My family from all over the county visited Hattiesburg for a football game. Mahogany Bar is a happening spot, so I didn't expect the food and service to be so good. This is a MUST DO, if you're in Hattiesburg and want to go to a late night place with a group of grownup friends.

After reading so many rave reviews I decided to try Mahogany Bar for dinner. I was alone so I sat at the bar. Unfortunately, the entire experience was disappointing. I've never given a bad review before. Usually, if I can't give a good one I don't give one at all. To begin, I was ignored for an unreasonable amount of time. When I was finally asked what I wanted I asked for a wine recommendation. Neither of the two bartenders could offer a suggestion. They had no knowledge of the wine they served. Once I was finally able to get their attention AGAIN I asked AGAIN for a recommendation. I should have paid my tab and left then. Instead I had a mediocre, very dry catfish dinner complete with a relentless neighbor who wouldn't leave me alone to the point I left with half a glass of wine on the bar and $50 less in my pocket.

Really like crescent city so i have to like Mahogany bar. Thier late night menu is very condensed but it gets the job done on those late drinking nights.

Great beer. And bartenders. This place has a good din, solid for background noise but not overwhelming. A really nice outdoor patio that I did not sit in, but it was gorgeous and also similarly active but friendly.

Great bar. Lots of beers on tap and the bartenders are nice guys and can mix a drink too. I'll hit this up again.

Ate here on a business trip while in the area. Was traveling with a pescatarian colleague and the place worked well for us. Good vibes, quick and attentive service. The pasta was to die for, I never wanted to stop eating it. A little harder to find since its in a building with multiple restaurants - but is a can't miss.

I am a sucker for a nice courtyard. I have been frequenting Mahogany Bar for about 15 years. Its my go to spot when i'm in the Burg. The inside is narrow and cozy but I always find a spot in the courtyard to sit and relax. The drinks are decently priced. The only reason I knocked off a star is for their customer service. My last visit was so atrocious that I couldn't make it 5 stars. Besides my last visit, I dont remember the service being so poor so dont let that keep you away. Its a bonus that the food is pretty decent too.

Having heard about the Mahogany Bar, we made a point of stopping here for a quick bite to eat on the way home and it didn't disappoint. Although it shares a building with a restaurant (same owners), it is a classic craft beer bar with good pub eats. To enter, you pass by a restaurant (Crescent City Grill) and walk through a nice courtyard with trees and ivy covering the stone walls. I'm sure it's a great place to hang out in the warmer months. The inside of the bar makes you think of an English pub with a Southern twist. A large chalkboard serving as the beer menu covers the entire back wall. They have all the local craft beers as well as from neighboring states. The lunch menu had hearty courses including sandwiches, burgers, and more complex dishes (unfortunately, only their late night menu is available on the Internet). Many of the sandwiches are served with sweet potato fries. The dishes were creative and well thought out, and the ingredients were very fresh, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. The po-boy I ordered was made with a great French bread - good flavor and crispy crust. I'd recommend the po-boy and I'll definitely be returning to the Mahogany Bar next time I'm in town. Meal: lunch, weekday Order: Seafood/shrimp po-boy and Crooked Letter Mystery Romp Porter Ratings: (1=terrible, 2=pretty bad, 3=bad, 4=just okay, 5=good, 6=very good, 7=excellent) Food: taste-5; presentation-6 Service: speed-6; friendliness-6; attentiveness-6 Ambiance: comfort-6; look-6 Price: 6 Overall: 6

The patio area is pretty comfortable even on hot days. Most of all, they have Fat Tire

While sipping my chai on the patio @ starbucks I spotted Mahogany Bar and thought that it looked safe -- as it was the only bar in Hattiesburg that was spelled corectly and had permanent signage on the bulding. I loved the courtyard, it is covered in vines and there's a little water fountain full of wishes, it was so cozy. I loved this place! The staff was so friendly to us :). Double rum and coke for $3.75 during Happy hour. It looks like an old brauthel or something. speaking of spelling g2g ;)

It's not all that big, but the food is always great, the drinks are good. The crowd ranges from 21-60 years old. The bartenders are friendly. The court yard is pleasant. You'll feel comfortable in your business clothes after work or dressed casual.

There have been many a great nights spent here with my friend Sunny and I. The food was great and the drinks were always good. That may be because Sunny knew most of the bartenders. A great place to hang out on a weekend. The minus one star is for the inside seating that is lacking ventilation. The second hand smoke gets to you.

Love it!!

The Mahogany Bar is in the same building (and set between) two of the best restaurants in Hattiesburg - The Crescent City Grill (casual and family-oriented) and the Purple Parrot Cafe (a little more intimate). I think they all share the same kitchen, but the chefs are different. It's got a great bar menu and a full selection of wine and bar. There is seating inside, but it's really nice to sit outside. It's right on a very busy street and not at all the place where I'd normally consider sitting outside. But there's a very tall privacy hedge which dampens the noise and provides a more intimate setting. There are several fans mounted from the overhead - which really help in this climate.

Nothing happy about happy hour. Almost $20 for 3 beers. They said its happy hour but did not volunteer what that meant. A simple beer list would be helpful. It's neat seeing a full wall of beers listed, but not all that practical. I got the fish special and it was superb. Unbelievably good. I got mixed vegetables on the side. I didn't want a side but got one as part of the deal. I regret trying them as they were cold. Not cool, but cold like somebody forgot to cook them. Even though I didn't want them, it still bothered me that they served it under done. On my next trip I got a half dozen oysters on the half shell. They were tasty but I got only two packs of broken crackers. The bar tenders were pretty distracted by the cute waitresses/hostesses.

The Mahogany Bar is the bar for the Crescent City Grill and you can order their food here if you want to avoid the frequent lines to eat in the restaurant. They typically have a lively happy hour that seems to draw an older crowd and then they get a bit of a younger crowd at night. There is a nice courtyard area and they have servers to take your order inside and outside. This is probably the nicest bar to enjoy yourself in the area.

...it really is all about the happy hour though. Our table is always FULL of queued-up two-for-one drinks. It's dangerous. Don't take 4th street on your way home...you might hit a roadblock. The cocktail waitresses are pretty good too...but that might be because I'm always sitting with a regular.
