Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

There are actually more Mexican restaurants than I ever thought in Hattiesburg. This place is an authentic Mexican place except they don't serve sopes (BOOOO!). We tried their enchiladas, burritos, and tacos and were very tasty. They also have 2-for-1 margaritas that were stronger than most place (major plus!). We'll definitely go back after we have tried every Mexican place in the city.

Great Mexican food, fairly authentic. Nice and cheap ;)

After Del Sol, La-fiesta is my favorite Tex-Mex place in the 'berg. Nachos Don Chuy ftw.

Don Chuy Especial was very big my wife and I split it and it was plenty of food for us. Their margaritas are really good at this location because they New Orleans style drink machines from the previous restaurant are still being used. Would definitely recommend and its straight across from campus.

I adore this place. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is casual, the people are nice, the service is very good, the prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic! I always order the queso dip. It is a really good white cheese dip, completely different from the salty orange cheese dip you find in Texas, where I currently live. The chips are very good, and usually served warm. The salsa is the type I like; it definitely has lots of tomatoes, maybe some garlic and a few other spices. I don't think there is cilantro in it, and thankfully it's not the watery stuff with chunks that some restaurants serve. I like their salsa so much, that my husband spent weeks trying to duplicate their recipe. They have a vegetarian section on their menu. Yay, I love that! They also have a nice little kids' menu. For the little ones you can get tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, chicken fingers, pasta, or pizza. All or most come with rice and beans or French fries. Kids should find something they like without any problem, and the prices are reasonable, around $3.25 each. I like their cheese enchiladas (made with white cheese - hooray!), chalupas, and bean and cheese burritos. The sauce they use on their enchiladas is tasty, but I sometimes put extra salsa on it anyway. Their refried beans are quite good, always smooth and never pasty. The kids LOVE the rice and beans. My husband says the vegetarian fajitas are good, but not amazing. His favorite is the Vegetarian D plate - which consists of a cheese enchilada, a bean burrito, and rice and beans. I usually get Vegetarian A, which consists of a cheese enchilada, a bean and cheese chapula, served with rice and beans. I order iced tea to drink, and it's always fresh and never too weak. They are really good about refilling your glass too. They have a lunch menu with many options at reduced prices and take-out is available. Put it this way, I love this place so much that when my family from Mississippi comes to visit me in Houston, I ask them to stop by and get some some takeout from La Fiesta. Do I care that the food sits in the car for about 8 hours on its way to me? Not at all. I still like it better than the Mexican restaurants in our area. I miss that place, so go eat there!

The waiter was awesome, my friends burrito was good and the chips/salsa is incredible. Just don't order the Chile Relleno.... I don't know what that was but it was not a chile. The beef was off and the whole thing was encrusted in some severely hard baked shell. I don't know what it was but it was hard. Really hard... I took a couple bites and just couldn't do it. This is officially the first place in quite some time that I haven't finished the food at. Ah well. Based on my friends reactions to his food I'll give it three stars and likely give it anther chance in the future.

This place would have gotten two stars if I'd have written it three years back when I was a student at Southern. This was also when they were at their old location, which was grimey, disgusting, and the food was just alright. The decor used to have primary colored-booths, which is how this place earned the nickname "La Fiesta Daycare." But oh how times have changed. As more and more competing Mexican restaurants came up in the Hattiesburg market, La Fiesta really had to up their game. They've moved into newer, cleaner locations, and even expanded the menu a little bit. Though not the most authentic, I have to admit they've gotten closer to their authentic roots, and La Fiesta Brava is really a decent dining experience.

We have eat here several times in the past. We went on Super Bowl Sunday. They were charging $25 each to sit outside or in the bar area. Needless to say we didn't pay that. I don't know what management was thinking. Lol! There was only a handful of people in those areas. Actually there were very few people in the entire place & we found out why. The frozen lime margaritas were Far TOO Sweet with very little alcohol. Not to mention they were served in a disposable plastic cup, like Solo. Besides being tacky, the drinks melted quite fast in those frat party cups. The steak & shrimp fajitas were bland. The beef was tough & dry. The shrimp were tiny, penny size, flavorless, rubbery salad shrimp. Worst fajitas ever. I will go to Guadalajara in Columbia next time I want Mexican

The food is sometimes meh, but the drink specials make up for it tenfold.

Prices were decent... Service was excellent... Food was awesome... Waiter was ontop of refills especially on the nachos! A+

Great food at good prices, portions big enough to share.
