Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I used to here often when living in Hattiesburg. Good food and service. I have always had the friendliest waiters unlike some places in this town. Reasonably priced.

I came here on a Wednesday with my GF who lives in Hattiesburg. I live in Nola and I'm accustomed to the Cucu's there on the Westbank which is a good spot to eat at. My GF hasn't been there in awhile. When we got in to the place it smelled like 1970's old carpet. The A/C didnt feel like it was working properly it felt stuffy in there. There were flies in the place. It didn't feel clean in there. The servers seemed anti social and disgruntled. Right away this black waitress sat us without saying a word. No greeting, No "Hi my name is ______ and I'll be your server" nope all we got was a finger gesture of "this way". My GF and I looked at each other in the "WTF" face. We asked about the Wednesday Drink specials which apparently you have to be seated on the other side of the restaurant to get. So we got reseated by the bar. The bartender apparently was our server now. I asked her does she know how to make an Amarillo Sour and she didn't so that pretty much sums up her bar tending knowledge because that's a simple popular drink elsewhere. Nevermind I'll have a beer instead. We got the tacos that were on sale on Wednesday. The Chips and salsa were not up to par. The Chips seemed stale. When I got my tacos hey seemed over stuffed with lettuce and just not good at all. I got tired of fighting the flies and we left. When we left we went around the store and boy there was a surprise back there. I went there to see a stray cat but behind the store on the fences were rags, the kind they use to clean the place, hung up to dry. Apparently Cuco's hang drys their washing rags outside on the fences. I took pictures on my phone in amazement. As I was taking pictures the Tatted up manager stepped outside to smoke her cigarette and saw us. She started talking about the cat we saw out there how the cat scares the rats away. And they feed it. I was grossed out and we left. Do not go to this place. Hopefully it'll lose enough business so that a different management group can take over. This place was a 100% failure.

Come here for their "feet cheese" enchiladas! Cucos in Hattiesburg will go down in history as one of my worst dining experiences EVER. I ordered cheese enchiladas with refried beans and rice, and iced tea to drink. I won't forgive that the tea was old and sour, but the real horror were the cheese enchiladas. The cheese smelled like dirty socks. What the h*ll is that about? Apparently the cheese was old and moldy - you know how expired cheese stinks when it starts to turn to slime in a bag? Yeah, that's what it smelled like. It was as if I had crammed a sour dish cloth, covered in enchilada sauce, in my mouth. Even writing about the experience makes me gag. Obviously I did not finish my dinner, and I wasn't interested in a replacement. I left, and will never darken their door again.

Sux ! Horrible, take a dump in your hand, then slam it in your mouth! That's what the food taste like and there zero Mexicans in this Mexican restaurant only meth addicts. This place belongs in the heart of a trailor park

OMG! What a GROSS place! The food was unreal! I ordered chicken fajitas. How hard is that? The onions were the only item worth eating. The chicken, bell pepper and tomato were not cooked with the onions? I received a slice of bell pepper and a quarter slice of tomato on top of the onions and they were raw! The restroom - YUCK! Toliet brush visible under the sink, exhaust fan covered in dust, soap scum dripping down the walls, dirty walls, dirty signs telling staff to wash their hands! If you have to remind your staff to wash their hands upon leaving the restroom, they NEED TO BE FIRED! That is just common hygiene! When I see these signs in a restaurant restroom, I do not return! Returning to my table, I glanced down the hall of what I presumed to be the kitchen. A little soap and water would not hurt! Update this joint! This place needs to have it's franchise revolked! And the Health Dept gives them a B - really? They need to be shut down! This place makes the top of the list for Restaurant Rescue! I took pics and have filed a complaint with the Health Dept.

There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the service, and the food was hot (temperature-wise). However, the food was just so bad. It tasted like the only seasoning was black pepper. Even the queso was tasteless. We got the appetizer sampler, steak fajitas, and beef tacos. It was all pretty bad. But if you're a huge fan of black pepper, you might love this place. I'm sorry to give such a bad review, but Taco Bell has better Mexican food than Cuco's. :-(

Food was only edible, not good. The wait staff was friendly. The carpet was so dirty my shoe stuck to it. The bathroom was deplorable and if I had seen it first I wouldn't have eaten here!!! Some kind of black goo going up the walls, like mold maybe. The food service laws in Mississippi must be very tolerant. Just gross.

We live on the MS Gulf Coast and went monthly to Cucos. We almost always picked it for the place to eat our birthday dinner. While driving back home through Hattiesburg we stopped in to try it. It was 1 in the afternoon on a Sunday so we weren't concerned that there was only one other table. We stood at the hostess stand for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes before the manager showed us to our table. We waited for a minute for our server. Knowing exactly what we wanted, we ordered when the server came back, but she lost her pencil and had to find it before she could take our order. She asked if I wanted dressing for my taco salad and seemed confused when I said no pico on my bean soup that I was going to share with my son. She did come back once to give us more chips and salsa (which was very watered down) and to refill my husbands tea. The food came and my taco salad had beef instead chicken and the black bean soup was so watered down that I didn't even try it. My son said his taco was nasty and the only thing good about it was the beef. (He was right... I tried it) We sent back my food and we all ate off of my husbands macho nachos (which were just as we remembered them). The manager came out with her meth mouth and told us that they took the black bean soup off of the menu because it was not selling but the people started asking about it so they brought back an old menu with it on there. She said the salsa was the same recipe from 1983 and that people have grown to love it. She said that each restaurant is a little different and she would give us a fried ice cream on her. She also said that it was the exact same as the one from Biloxi. Boy was that a disappointment too... All in all... We will NEVER be back... Yuck!

I'll be fair with new places. Everyone has their off days. I thought this when I got my food there the first time. Bland. Unidentifiable. Everything tasted like it came from a can and was high in sodium. The only way to tell things apart was by the shades of brown it came in. You'd think I'd avoid it after that impression, but oh no. I tried it not once but twice more. I ordered different things each time. I ordered based off what the waiter or companions recommended. I'm sad to report it was the same food each time. Mushy food somewhat akin to baby food, pickling my insides with salt and horrifying my mouth with the flavors. Not even the chips and salsa saved it.
