I've been waiting to review this place and now after my 3rd trip, the time has come. Let me preface with that I have only sat in the bar section of this restaurant, but the food is the same and I imagine the wait staff should be pretty similar. The beer - their selection of local and craft beer is impressive for any standards. An incredible selection that forces one to have at least one too many to ensure you try all that looking appealing. The food - I had a cup of Gumbo Ya Ya and a blackened chicken sandwich with fruit (this time). The gumbo is stellar and the sandwich is a perfect companion for several beverages. Fired jalapeños dress a perfectly spicy sandwich and the fruit is fresh and sweet. The rest - the wait staff is knowledgable and the ambiance is ultra welcoming. I've only been to Hattiesburg 3 times, but come here every time I'm in town and have never been disappointed. This place rates on my "Highly Recommended" list.
This place is great! The white chocolate bread pudding is my absolute favorite here. The only thing I didn't like is the food selection. The menu is pretty limited. They do have seasonal menus so that's when I mainly visit here. I love shrimptember "shrimp in September" I think that's what it's called but they have shrimp spinach dip that's to die for. Great atmosphere and perfect for date nights!

Just passing thru, road trip with the family, saw this on Yelp, plus close to our Hotel, so we gave it a try. The menu for this place is pretty big, wanted to try all of it, but the wife and I and the kiddos, went fried, I had the Oyster and Shrimp Po boy, loads of shrimp and oysters, big huge bun, pickles and onions, also had the sweet potato fries. I liked my Po boy overall, just wish the shrimp we're larger, the shrimp seemed small, just a bit bigger than cocktail shrimp, the oysters on the other hand we're huge, nice taste, not fishy. It also had fried jalapeños for a good kick. The wife had the Shrimp Po boy, again she said tasty, but shrimp small, loads of shrimp also. Kiddos also had kids fried shrimp, and guess what? Same small shrimp, kids meal was loaded with choice of 2 sides, and ice cream dessert., they loved it. The wife and I had the Hot apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, this hit the spot, the wife took command of the plate and that was the last time I saw my dessert, all and a very good place, thanks Hattiesburg. We had a great waiter.

Crescent City serves some of the best food around Hattiesburg...period! I recently had the shrimp calzone from September's special shrimp menu. It was absolutely delicious! Crescent City has food down to a science. With that being said, the noise level inside Crescent City is often uncomfortable and even painful! Using an app on my phone, I recorded the inside noise topping 100 dB! That's the equivalent noise that a loud motorcycle or blender puts out. After our meal, my family and I went outside and we commented about our ears hurting! I think it would pay for Crescent City to do some remodeling to dampen the noise level. All in all, the food is great at Crescent City, but the atmosphere is terribly noisy and stressful.

Cho! Co! Dat be some dang good food! Ok sorry, my inner Cajun was coming out but this place has some great food and cocktails. Wish it was closer, we would be regulars. The Crescent City Crab Cakes with Orleans Topping was incredible as was the Lobster & Shrimp Pasta. Wurlitzer Prize is a fantastic cocktail to go along with the meal. Go, you won't be sorry.

Although not spectacular, this was the best part of our stay at this Sheraton. But for the purposes of this review, I'll stick to the restaurant located therein. We had a breakfast buffet here that included plenty of fruit, excellent biscuits and gravy, well cooked bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. Everything was up to a typical breakfast buffet standard, the waiter was great, and they have a few pastries and cold cereal as well. Pricey for what you get, but I'd request a free voucher at the front desk.

Since moving to Marietta, GA Crescent City has been the one restaurant I've missed most! Crescent City is a taste of the south and New Orleans with a spin on their own dishes. First, appetizers are a must- during crawfish season they have crawfish pie which is a creamy cheese sauce full of crawfish wrapped in puff pastry but during off season they offer Shrimp Pie which is amazing too The nachos, crab wontons, and oysters are great choices too! Second, they offer a large variety of entrees but, my favorite has to be the Swamp Thing Sandwich which fried shrimp, fried jalapeños, grilled onions, remoulade sauce on a hoagie roll. I've eaten my way through the Bayou Favorites Entrees and the Cajun Enchiladas similar to the crawfish or shrimp pie except with tortillas and severed with dirty rice, seafood crepes, shrimp carnival and shrimp and grits are all so tasty!! The Mardi Grad Pasta is shrimp with a spicy cream sauce that's sooooo good And save room for dessert because their bread puddling melts in your mouth!!!! I could eat a whole pan of the bread puddling! Crescent city also has a great selection of house cocktails and a great bar inside the restaurant called Mahogany Bar that's great to have drinks and appetizers with friends after hours!

Scott was our server. He knew the menu. He kept our drinks full. The service. The atmosphere. The background music. Intimate or casual, this will take care of all your needs.

Went here this weekend for girls night out while visiting. I had the Shrimp Po Boy, and a cup of Seafood Gumbo/top it off with a Moscow Mule.... The food was very delicious, and it was very fresh. The inside of restaurant the tables were a bit close, but the music made me feel just like I was on Bourbon Street... I love the setting, will surely go back

The food is amazing here. The service is hit and miss. But be ready to wait unless u get there sometime there is no wait, which is rare.

I loved everything I ate here! I had corn and crab bisque and Basin Street Chicken. The service was good. A little dark and kind of hard to find, but this hole-in-the wall is worth a try.
My husband and I came here for a post-Valentines dinner and we were very impressed. Jennifer was our waitress and she was super and very attentive!!!

Again oysters were good, a little on the small size so they thru a couple extra on there! Shrimp Carnival awesome!

It has been quite a while since I was at Crescent City and from the looks of it, the decor has not changed in 20 years. But with the younger crowd, not sure it is a big deal but goes with the theme of the menu as well. Most of the same stuff as before and nothing really innovative to try. Nonetheless, I had the jumbo shrimp with sweet potato fries and a cup of gumbo. Hopeful this was a can't miss order, I was right. The lightly breaded shrimp were great as were the sweet potato fries, though they skimped on the fries part. The gumbo was itself quite tasty, though I still haven't figured out why put the crab claw on top. I suppose its a great visual garnish, but I love crab and would like to eat that. You really can't since you have nothing to break it and your fingers just get messy. So why taunt me like that. Overall, it is the same grill I came to when I was in school there. Some things don't change and at least they have been consistent which I suppose is a good thing.

Our experience at The Crescent City Grill has been phenomenal!!! Last night we had Mardi Gras Pasta had the absolute best flavor. Along with Shrimp Carnival that was to die for! Today we had the red beans & rice and jumbo fried shrimp which are awesome as well. We highly recommend if you are in Hattiesburg, MS, to stop by and enjoy an absolutely tasty meal!!! Well worth a wait if there is one!!! Prices are very reasonable too.

My first visit and I wasn't disappointed. Great place for Creole and seafood. I had seafood gumbo and shrimp etouffee, both were delicious with just the right kick. Staff is friendly and service is fast and good. I was here on a Friday night and it was crowded. be prepared to wait (about 30 minutes when I was there) for a table in the dining room or do what I did and get a table in the bar-first come basis. I will return next time I'm in town.

Passing thru Hattiesburg and stopped at Crescent City Grill on the recommendation from a friend. Had a taste for oysters on the half shell. What a treat! I didn't ask what the extra dipping sauce was, a light vinaigrette taste, but it was great. I like the horseradish on the side do you can mix your own sauce. I always put it all in there. The crab cakes were also perfect, prepared to perfection and absolutely delicious! I sat at the bar, as I was alone, had polite conversation with the staff and people around me. Great atmosphere! I don't usually take the time for reviews. As I travel or pass thru, Crescent City Grill will be the place I stop to eat and reco during my trip. Flexman gives the A+ thumbs up!

My mother and I stopped there for dinner in Hattiesburg. What a surprise! Everything tasted great, including the sweet tea, sensation salad (with white wine vinaigrette and parmesan cheese), and the pasta jambalaya. All three were perfectly prepared, and are all delicious. This is an excellent atmosphere, and if you're passing through Hattiesburg or spending the night there, this is a great recommendation. That's why I rate this five stars.

I had the flounder blackened with steamed veggies. It was amazing! Wish I didn't live so far away I would love to try more of the menu. Great service, huge beer selection nice decor. If your looking for good seafood you won't be disappointed.

Very good variety of Cajun, and southern foods. Some spicier than others. Some foods can be on the pricey end but definitely worth stopping in to try if you're in the are. If you enjoy Cajun then hit this spot up.

Friendly and attentive staff in a clean and upscale atmosphere without breaking the bank. Oh....and if you like burgers...theirs are cooked to order, full flavored and juicy.

Fish was prepared nicely though it lacked a bit of heat. Fun atmosphere & a decent selection of regional craft beers. Definitely a place to go for a meal when visiting Hattiesburg.

I liked the setting, they try to mimic New Orleans. It's not quite the same, but it was nice. The service was good. The Shrimp Nachos were delicious. I was extremely disappointed in my shrimp and lobster Pasta dish. The lobster was far from fresh, and smelled like moth balls. I didn't eat a quarter of my entree. I've heard great things about this place. So for my first time I was overall disappointed.

One of the best meals I've had in the south, and we just left Mardi Gras. Better grilled oysters than Acme or Felixes. The crab and corn bisque was great. I loved the blackened trout Orleans over pasta. Rich, creamy, a little spicy. Perfect.

Great wine and beer selection with low to high price points. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, it was just ok. We also had the rice and beans that comes with a smokey sausage that was very good

Great place for a taste of some Cajun food. The service was great and the place well kept. The price is slightly above avg but they don't hold back on their portions. Highly recommend eating here.
Family and I stopped in per request of a friend on are way to Gulf Shores, AL. The outside had you wondering what lies inside, on the other side of the door was a welcoming staff ( all dressed in black )with a spacious clean atmosphere. Food was served hot with hungry man's appetite. Will stop on are way back home.

I looked this place up on Yelp before traveling to Hattiesburg and the reviews were dead on. Great food, great service, and an awesome selection of beers - locals, domestics, and foreign. Highly recommend the Crab Cakes! Definitely worth eating here!

This is one of my favorite places to dine! I love seafood and their corn and crab bisque is really good. The staff are very friendly and food is consistently good. My only complaint would be that on Friday nights when the house is packed, the food maybe a little less than hot. My husband and I avoid that by going during the week!
(4)

Food is excellent. Waiters/waitresses range from genuinely nice to alright. Never had a horrible waiter/waitress. I've ate at a lot of places and I must say that CCG has the most consistent food.(Hot and good)

I'm in Hattiesburg for work and decided that I wanted some good Cajun food! Considering I was in Louisiana for work a couple of weeks ago, it's hard to give this place 5 stars. The service was wonderful, seriously ... My waitress was so nice. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was just ok. The shrimp were those really tiny shrimp. I would have preferred fewer shrimp, but larger. I did order an apple cobbler and that was excellent. I will probably give it another shot if I'm back in town and order something else. I have a feeling they can do better! At the end of the day ... I'm sure it is one of the better restaurants here!

Nice local place with good variety of food and nice ambiance. Not too formal but plenty of ladies in dresses if one's in the mood. Glad we found this place on our way down to the beach instead of another chain restaurant.

Crescent City Grill was simply heaven!!! The Seafood Crepes were absolutely the best. Will dine there from now on when I have to visit Hattiesburg or anywhere remotely close. It's worth the trip. Hattiesburg's best kept secret!

I ordered the Cajun Enchilada for lunch with side salad. The salad was fresh and light. The enchilada turned out to be mostly sauce. While having a good flavor, it contained very little discernible seafood. My date ordered red beans and rice. It was pretty average. Both dishes were served luke warm. We left thinking we would try it again but not the same dishes. So far, like Tabella best.

Not so impressed with the food, but very impressed with the service. Our server, Curry, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My husband had eaten here once before, and said that Curry was his server then as well, and was just as helpful. Their beer menu is extensive. They had a great local selection, and a lot of different choices. A "beer connoisseur" would love this place. I had a Riesling, and thought it was a great choice. We started with the fried green tomatoes... Not bad but not great. The tomatoes themselves were tasty and cooked just right, but we were not fans of the topping. It was good, just not what we thought we were getting. My husband got the tuna and I got the fish of the day. My dish was extremely salty, and this is from someone who loves salt. My side order of fresh vegetables was very fresh, but I think they could have used a little more seasoning. I ended up mixing together everything on my plate, and that turned out pretty well. My husband ordered the tuna, rare. When it arrived, it was definitely not rare. Because I wasn't feeling well, my husband decided not to say anything. However, about halfway through our menu, Curry came by our table and said he noticed the tuna wasn't cooked correctly. We told him it was okay, not to say anything to the kitchen. He brought us our ticket, and we gave him our credit card, but when he came back, it had been removed! And then the manager came by to apologize. We will visit here again when I am feeling better, but sitting in Curry's section is a must!!

Grilled Oysters were good, but poor presentation. Shrimp po-boy was OK. Bisque must not have been prepared as the one others have reviewed, it was not good. Staff was adequate. Facility was clean. Crawfish topped portobello was flavorful but overpriced and ours was not hot. Shrimp and grits had a stronger mushroom flavor than many would expect, it wasn't bad, just seemed "off" when on the grits. Since we had such a variety of dishes, we won't likely return. There are many other good options in town...better price points as well.

The interior is well decorated with low lighting, but casual enough that I was comfortable wearing jeans and a t-shirt. We waited half an hour for seating, and at least an hour for our food to arrive. So very worth the wait. I've never had better pasta in my life! The chicken fettuccine nearly melted in my mouth. I tried some shrimp from my friend's plate, also well cooked and delicious. Definitely recommend, and definitely worth the wait. The prices are also reasonable, though portions are a little on the small side. Overall, delicious!

Love, love, love this place (our first visit)! We were enroute back from the beach and wanted our last "fix" of fresh fish and oysters. We stopped for lunch and had grilled mahi mahi, selection of 4 vegetables (grilled asparagus, snap sweet peas, mixed steamed vegetables, and steamed broccoli), a dozen raw oysters, and Ya-Ya gumbo. Many thanks to Nicole for serving our order quickly so we could get back on the road. We will be back EVERY time.

Recently, my wife and I went to Crescent City Grill for lunch. The meal was by far one of the worst we have had there. We both ordered a cup of soup before our meal. She had Gumbo Yaya and I had Corn and Crab Chowder. The Chowder was excellent but the Yaya was Yahorrible. It was very evident the roux was burnt. My mom's side of the family is cajun so this wasn't my first go around with it. The waiter, albeit nice, said they make their roux very dark and that some people don't like it. Nope, it was burnt. For our main course I had BBQ Shrimp ($20.00) and Jess had Catfish Plaqumines. Her catfish was friend excellent and the shrimp topping was just a good, but mine was not worth $20.00. The broth was very well balanced, but the 6 medium sized shrimp was a turn off. We both were ready to leave, so we paid our tab and left. We are both fans of RSJ and his establishments, but today...quality was not there. We will be back though.

Found this place on Yelp. It was a good choice for a great dinner. The service was impeccable. The beer list is huge. The food has a Cajun flair. Mrs Eva had the crab stuffed crab cakes. I had the seafood sampler which consisted mostly of Cajun shrimp dishes. The food was excellent. I could eat here frequently and I hope to return.

Crescent city grill is one of my all time favorite places to eat in one I my favorite small cities on the planet. I love the shrimp po boy, which I get regularly. It's my favorite! I never come here without getting the white chocolate bread pudding! It's to die for with its driZzle of raspberry sauce. Mmmmm...... The wait staff is awesome and attentive. Love love this place!

One of the best and classic places in hattiesburg! I love eating out on the patio! Great food and environment. The one place you must visit in this town!
A very competent kitchen. Enjoyed a very well executed grilled flounder. Sensation salad was also pleasant, if not exactly creative or different in any way. Service was attentive and helpful. In short, they do what they do well, buy what they do isn't terribly creative or inventive. It's a chain, albeit a good incarnation of one. Enjoyed my cocktail.

Yum! Long wait when I came here on a Friday evening, but pretty worth it. The crab stuffed portobello with Parmesan spinach was amazing. Nice beer selection. I got this infamous white chocolate bread pudding thing, but I didn't love it - I found it to be kind of tasteless weird sponge, nothing like bread pudding I've had before.

This is probably one of the best places to eat in Hattiesburg. It is set up in a strange way in the same building with their bar, The Mahogany Bar, and another restaurant, The Purple Parrot. The food is New Orleans style and they get most things right other than they don't use real NOLA French bread. They also have some nice looking raw oysters and they have a shucker that knows what he's doing. Unfortunately the interior of the place reminds me a bit of an Applebee's. This spot pretty much contains the main destinations for anyone who loves great food to eat in Hattiesburg as the Crescent City and Purple Parrot are pretty much the best places to eat at in the area.

We started with the shrimp pie. It was essentially a shrimp gumbo turnover. I only got a few bites in Chris was hungry and devoured most of it. I ordered the ribeye medium rare with Au gratin potatoes and spinach. The steak had an excellent char on the outside was a nice dark pink on the inside, just warmed through. I was a little worried about ordering a steak in not a steak house but they really did a wonderful job. The potatoes were more like chunky loaded mashed potatoes. the spinach was fine although I wish I would have known they had hard boiled egg on them. Chris ordered the shrimp and lobster angel hair pasta and OH MY GOODNESS! I was so jealous! A perfect meat to pasta ratio, the sauce was exceptional and in good proportion to the pasta. Angel hair pasta if often over boiled however this dish was cooked al dente which complemented the soft meat very nicely. They were all out of the brownie sundae we ordered for dessert so we went across the parking lot to Tabella for dessert.

We are new to town and have been eating at Crescent regularly. Love it! Management makes its rounds and always asks for feedback. I love the friendliness of the waitstaff. I would like to see more sweets on the menu but the bread pudding is to die for. Staff is always glad to assist in my beer selection as there are too many to mention.

As a native New Orleanian, this place is spot on. I love everything from their funny sayings on the walls to the seafood on the menu. The bisque is awesome! Every time I visit Hattiesburg, I stop here first. And I also tell anyone else visiting the area that this is one of the best places to go.

I love this place. Great food. Worth the 30 minute wait to get in. I no longer dislike prime rib thanks to this restaurant. They did it right YUM! I will be going back very soon.
I live in Pittsburgh now, and every time I come home to Hattiesburg, I have *at least* one dinner at Crescent City (and usually several drinks at The Hog). The food is straight up delicious, service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Chef Noffke cranks out some great food! Some of my favorite dishes are the pan seared tuna app, the seafood sampler, & the grilled catch of the day Pontchartrain. You really cant go wrong here; I've been eating here for over 10 years now, and I've had maybe one or two mediocre experiences. I also like that the atmosphere is comfortable, but nice. You could fit in at CCG in nice jeans or a dress, and I'm having a flashback right now of actually eating Senior Prom dinner there too!

We heard a lot of great compliments for this place, so we finally tried it after being here for slightly over a year. And...we thought it was alright but not great like what we were told. The burger my wife ordered as "medium" turned out to be rare. My special (fried soft shell crab) was a small dish for $20. Their salad has the cheap powder Parmesan cheese was disappointing! The garlic bread was mediocre at best! Fried green tomatoes (3 slices with frozen shrimp) was not that good. All-in-all, this is not the better Cajun restaurant in H'burg! I would recommend Walnut Circle Grill, Brownstone, or 206 Front (all in downtown) are MUCH better than Crescent City. Just my opinion. We will not be returning.

I had a gig in Hattiesburg so I got there early just so I could eat at Crescent City. That's how much I love this place. As one reviewer put it, "The decor is Applebee-ish", but the food definitely is not. Crescent City has a wide selection of creole seafood cuisine at a fairly wide price-point. The accompanying Mahogany Bar is also one of the nicest places to get a drink. Some highlights from this visit - the blackened shrimp pie; gumbo ya-ya; the Swamp Thing po-boy; Southern Gold beer on tap. I have a tendency to stick with what I know is really good, and the Swamp Thing is really good. Slap yo momma good. And what better place to drink Southern Gold ale than in Hattiesburg - home to Southern Miss (SMTTT!).

Kirk L, who says that perceptions of Crescent City are skewed by Hattiesburg's limited options, is right on. However, I believe Yelp reviews should be, by definition, relative to what else is available in the area and in the same mode of cuisine. But I still can't give Crescent City four stars. I've never met with a surprise here. The restaurant fails to deliver the little twists and turns on traditional plates that makes good dishes excellent. It seems like a vague gripe, this lack of somethingness. But I also think Crescent City is pricey enough to expect a little somethingness. The food is competent and consistent, the kitchen, service, and management is professional. Everything is made from scratch, but then everything is also some combination of pasta/cream sauce/fried seafood. It's guaranteed to be crowd-pleasin' as long as it comes out hot. The best entree here is the crabcakes. You can get them Orleans, which means topped with a sauce with crawfish and mushrooms or something. The extra stuff on top sounds tantalizing on the menu, but it's still gravy at the end of the day. If anything it tends to sog out the crunch and smother the seasoning. Stick with just crabcakes, and if you must have the gravy, get it on the side. Big fish, small pond. Although that goes double for 206 Front, which someone mentioned here. 206 is a far worse offender in this regard than Crescent City. Mere competence plus a ludicrous price tag does not make a restaurant "upscale." If anyone around me ever mentions going to 206, they'll see me laughing all the way to Po Boy Express.

Good, but could be better. When they first opened, they offered some of the best fried cheese I've ever had. They were big triangles of high quality cheese, battered, and deep fried. It was served with a tasty marinara sauce. Excellent. That item is no longer on the menu. The last time i was there, they had fried cheese balls, and they weren't good at all. I'm not sure if they still offer those, but if so, I don't recommend them. Crescent City's bottomless house salad was also delicious. It was a giant bowl of fresh salad - lettuce, tomato, home-made croutons and a bit of cheese. The honey mustard dressing was absolutely fabulous. I don't think they've offered this salad for quite some time either. In general, this is a vegetarian unfriendly restaurant. Even most of their pastas use seafood in the sauce. If I were rating Cresent City when they first opened, I'd give them 5 stars. Giving them 3 stars now seems generous. Good iced tea though, and friendly service.

First visit to hattiesburg Mississippi. Do not get the fried crab claws they are tiny and do not have much flavor really. The crab stuffed crab cakes with green peppers fried eggplant and Brie cheese is amazing though and the potatoes au gratin are the best side to go with it! The best part though was the blueberry blitz cobbler desert. Was so fresh and was just amazing. Service was great tons of servers very family and kid friendly!

Great place to watch a game and enjoy some incredible New Orleans style food! Better than any I've had so far in NOLA - try the stuffed mushrooms, and the shrimp crepes are to DIE FOR. You'll love it!

First time to try this restaurant, and really enjoyed it. I had the catch of the day, black drum, blackened. My wife had the grilled chicken breast and vegetables and liked it also. Very tasty. Service was prompt and attentive. Will definitely return.

First off, I hope my girlfriend doesn't read this because she thinks Crescent City is about the best place on the planet. That said, I think how someone rates this restaurant really depends on their frame of reference. With all due respect to Hattiesburg, it probably is one of the best restaurants in the city. But if it were located in a city like Atlanta, New Orleans, etc, it would be pretty average. I got to try a lot of things, so here's a rundown: Started with the appetizer sampler. The fried wontons were delicious, but pretty standard. The stuffed mushrooms were OK - they were undercooked (mushrooms were not close to cooked through), and I wasn't a fan of the cornmeal batter. The cheese dip was a basic Velveeta base - nothing special, but tasty (and the fried Jalapeños were a nice touch). Also tried the Corn and Crab bisque, which was excellent and definitely worth getting. I had the Crab Stuffed Crab Cakes as an appetizer, and while I LOVE the concept, the end result was shockingly bland. I mean, it was good, but I expected just a whirlwind of flavor with crab on crab cakes, covered with Swiss and Brie, and Parmesan breadcrumbs with a Chardonnay Lemon butter sauce (all on top of fried eggplant). But it just wasn't there. I enjoyed it, and I ate it, but I thought my crab cakes (that I've only made a couple times) were better. On the flip side, the Au Gratin potatoes were quite simply the best I've ever had. Not something I would have ordered if my gf hadn't told me I had to, but very glad I did. My gf had the grilled catch of the day...as I write this, I'm drawing a blank on what the catch of the day was, but it was good - nicely cooked, good flavor, but not "stand-out". A friend's Big Easy burger looked amazing (and he said it tasted just as good) so if I ever make it back there, I definitely want to try that. Love the patio - even on a 95 degree afternoon, the shade and fans made it a great place to hang out, and I was a big fan of the 2 for one happy hour from 2-7 (Saturday, not sure about other days).

I had the crab stuffed crab cakes, they were yummy. The menu made them sound like they would be more flavorful and I just didn't find that to be true. I couldn't taste the brie or the sauce that was on top. It could of been prepared better with the list of ingredients it includes. We were seated quickly on a seemingly busy night. Service was decent, food took little longer than expected. Order an easy appetizer to hold you over till your meal comes.

This used to be a great place and not bad value for money but it has gone down hill quite rapidly. I think the owner has taken his eye of the ball. The menu needs revamping and if you complain the server did not really care. We wont go back there are much better places in Hattiesburg to eat now.

Great atmosphere in the bar and patio and great fresh fish. Sticky tables and an uneasy dirty feeling belies the fact that this place delivers on their promise of same-day fresh seafood. Gumbo is greasy with non-existent roux...but it had good flavor overall. Grilled catch o' the day Pontchartrain style exceeded expectations and the steamed veggies were actually fresh and the not soggy-ass frozen crap. If the place was a little cleaner I would have thrown down 4 stars.

This is perhaps the best New Orleans style restaurants in Hattiesburg. While there are a few dishes people dont find are that great, once you find the ones you like, you will rarely get anything else. And if you ask to have it extra spicy they will comply. You may want to try one of the sampler dishes like the Bayou Combo so you can try and find the ones you like. My favorite dish is not on their menu any more...the Cajun Pasta Jambalaya (extra spicy)...a mix of shrimp, chicken & sausage with Fettuccini in a Creole Cream sauce.

We found this place through yelp while traveling, thanks! It was a fantastic find. I had the shrimp and grits, it was amazing, more shrimp than grits and a marvelous flavor. My husband had eggplant with shrimp and crabmeat, also really delicious. Prices were great, portions large. Next time we're getting their homemade desserts too. We'll have to plan our route so we pass through Hattiesburg again.

Well I went here for lunch the other day, I really like the menu options- I had a Cajun chicken pasta with shrimp- it was light, the chicken was sliced great & it was perfectly grilled. The whole dish I had was good. after talking with my waiter (who was a very good waiter & friendly- which is very rare in this town. i would prefer a waitress because im a guy, lol still he dis a good job.) he brought me a to-go menu & pointed out the crab stuffed crab cakes- which I will try the next time I go, gonna get that over pasta with shrimp. It has good decor, a full bar. it is an all around cozy, comfortable place with wine bottles throughout. The iced tea was very well crafted which is important. the service was great, smart & helpful- went out of his way to check on me as well. this is a great & relaxing lunch place, I recommend that u try it @ least once. I'll write another review when I try other dishes.

We went to Crescent City last week for my husband's birthday and it was excellent. At the moment they have a seasonal crawfish menu that is delicious. If you like crawfish, make your way to Crescent City before the season is over!

Had some good food here when living in Mississippi. I specially their blackened chicken sandwich. They put deep friend jalapeo peppers on it. Awesome!!! Drinks are good. A nice place, overall!!

This place is one of my favorite eats in town. Their signature salad dressings and their famous desserts always get my mouth watering. This is my top choice for eating in Hattiesburg. I always love the great New Orleans style grill.

We dropped our daughter off to start grad school at Southern Miss and ate at CCG twice (we wanted to try as much of the "Crab Jubilee" menu as we could). Corn and Crab bisque is outstanding -- delicate, creamy, sweet. The blackened drum was amazingly fresh tasting, and nicely juicy. Desserts were fabulous as well, especially the buttered pecan pie with ice cream. Service was really fast and servers were friendly and knowledgeable. We were very impressed.

Some of the best food in town and NOT a chain. Most of their things are made fresh daily. Their pasta is obviously made from scratch. There's a wide variety of dishes - many of them Southern in origin. The Crescent City Grill is in the same building with the Mahogany Bar and the Purple Parrot Cafe. The food is great at all three. The Crescent City is rather relaxed and casual. It's a great place to go with family and friends. For a date, my choice is the Purple Parrot.

Good food, great service. A little pricey, but worth it if your looking for food cooked right.

Nice place, good menu, good beer selection, looks like the wine selection is awesome. Had the Jambalaya, it was real good. Definitely will return . Thanks

While the menu is somewhat creative and the specials look good, the food is edible and average at best. The large portions were luke warm and the presentation was nothing to write home about for the price. The furniture is in need of repair and the carpet a good cleaning. This place appears to be a favorite amoungst the locals and is connected to a bar and another restaurant called the Purple Parrot ($$$$) It appears they share the same kitchen. In closing this review out this place is far from what the real Cresent City has to offer. Take a two hour drive south and enjoy the real thing!

We had dinner in the Mahogany Grill. Delicious! Stopping here from Fl on our way to Dancing Rabbit in Mississippi. Loved it soo much stopped there on the way home too! 3 Restaurants to choose from--We ate in the bar for immediate seating and of course, football on Saturday! This a college town!

Awesome crab cakes! Fast service & great food at a great price.

EXCELLENT FOOD! Their wine list CANNOT be beat. Every time I come here, I am blown away by the fcuisine offered. I'm from the Sacramento/San Francisco area, so I am pretty picky. I would come here no matter the locale.

Wow! We were just passing through. Yelp reviews lead us here. Awesome service. Great food. Good prices. Got the nachos & the sloppy roast beef po boy. Left feeling stuffed, loved, and happy. Spent $37.50 and that included two beers each (just hubby & I). We would go again.

We were in Hattiesburg, MS visiting some friends and they took us to this great little restaurant. We started off with some delicious cocktails then went on to order off their August Crab Menu. Awsome dishes all creation of Chef Robert St. John.

This place offers many great dishes, but this review will focus on one of my favorite lunch items: The Backened Chicken Sandwich. For 8 or 9 bucks you get a succulent chicken breast blackened with cajun spices, smothered in pepper jack cheese and topped with fried jalapeño slices and tobacco onion straws between a fresh-baked bun. I add bacon to complete the masterpiece. Along with a side, you get enough food for lunch and dinner!

I'm new to the whole Cajun style of food, always lived in the north my whole life, but this is the one place I take people who visit Hattiesburg. Always has fresh fish and special menu items every day that are excellent. I'm a huge fan of the cajun enchilada and the shrimp and grits. Definitely have to check it out at least once.

Great cajun dishes at good prices. Whenever I have visitors from out of town this is one of the first places I take them. The blackened chicken sandwich is one of my favorite meals in Hattiesburg, and the mashed potatoes are the best I have ever had....ever!

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff in Hattiesburg. My husband had the Etoufee and I had the Swamp Thing. The food, service, and prices were excellent. I highlly recommend to all.

This place has a good reputation so I went there for lunch and had one of the lunch specials which was chicken empanda, Coleslaw slaw and a cup of tortilla soup. The slaw was good and freshly made, the tortilla soup was also very good but the chicken em panda was a bust. It was over cooked so the dough was like cutting stainless steel with a plastic fork and really not much filling so all you tasted was the tough dough.

I don't live in Hattiesburg anymore, and don't know when I'll be back again, but I have such fond memories of Crescent City Grill. If I do remember correctly I used to order the Dixie Chicken sandwich which had chicken breast, a slice of pineapple, and a few pieces of deli ham on it. I loved it. The service was always perfectly sweet and accommodating. I do miss it! If I go back around that way, I'll be sure to go here again.

Came in for a to-go order. We waited about 15 minutes since we didn't call ahead, which was not too long. However it would have been nice to have been offered a water while we waited. Not a big deal though. We asked for to-go waters after our boxes arrived. Just FYI, their soups are only in bowl sizes to-go. My boyfriend got the shrimp étouffée which was spicy and didn't have much flavor other than that, but it at least looked good. I got the pasta jambalaya, which was alright. I wish the sauce had a little more richness in the cream. Otherwise it's a decent place to try out.
(3)SiNiTiKa B.
(4)Andria Y.
ITS CRAWFISH SEASON!!! Need I say more? I guess so...... It was VERY GOOD. Try the crawfish portobello and a crawfish taco. Banana split cheese cake yeah
(5)Felipe L.
(4)Emans E.
(3)Robert D.
Cho!
(5)Damon B.

(5)Shannon E.
Scott was our server. He knew the menu. He kept our drinks full. The service. The atmosphere. The background music. Intimate or casual, this will take care of all your needs.
(5)Cornethia J.
I love the setting, will surely go back
(5)Ryan T.
The food is amazing here. The service is hit and miss. But be ready to wait unless u get there sometime there is no wait, which is rare.
(4)Molly B.
I loved everything I ate here! I had corn and crab bisque and Basin Street Chicken. The service was good. A little dark and kind of hard to find, but this hole-in-the wall is worth a try.
(5)Anne C.
We were driving through and needed a good lunch. Food and service was fabulous! Crawfish étouffée was outstanding and service by Matthew was top drawer! Key lime pie was light and refreshing also.
(5)Tonya G.
My husband and I came here for a post-Valentines dinner and we were very impressed. Jennifer was our waitress and she was super and very attentive!!!
(5)Chris B.
Again oysters were good, a little on the small size so they thru a couple extra on there! Shrimp Carnival awesome!
(4)Mark A.
(3)Larry L.
(5)Kelly H.
(4)Felix S.
(5)Michelle G.
Great food and great staff! We had a wonderful meal and the service was great! Crab cakes, oysters, enchiladas, gumbo, and kids meals were delicious! Beer was cold!
(5)Adam S.
(5)Ben L.
I had the flounder blackened with steamed veggies. It was amazing! Wish I didn't live so far away I would love to try more of the menu. Great service, huge beer selection nice decor. If your looking for good seafood you won't be disappointed.
(5)Robert A.
Very good variety of Cajun, and southern foods. Some spicier than others. Some foods can be on the pricey end but definitely worth stopping in to try if you're in the are. If you enjoy Cajun then hit this spot up.
(4)John B.
Friendly and attentive staff in a clean and upscale atmosphere without breaking the bank. Oh....and if you like burgers...theirs are cooked to order, full flavored and juicy.
(4)Flip B.
Fish was prepared nicely though it lacked a bit of heat. Fun atmosphere & a decent selection of regional craft beers. Definitely a place to go for a meal when visiting Hattiesburg.
(4)James D.
(1)Vincent G.
One of the best meals I've had in the south, and we just left Mardi Gras. Better grilled oysters than Acme or Felixes. The crab and corn bisque was great. I loved the blackened trout Orleans over pasta. Rich, creamy, a little spicy. Perfect.
(5)Mark t.
Great wine and beer selection with low to high price points. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, it was just ok. We also had the rice and beans that comes with a smokey sausage that was very good
(4)Jeff P.
Great place for a taste of some Cajun food. The service was great and the place well kept. The price is slightly above avg but they don't hold back on their portions. Highly recommend eating here.
(5)David U.
On a recent business trip to Hattiesburg we stopped in for dinner at the Purple Parrot Café, we were unaware there were three restaurants in one, we decided to eat at the Crescent City Grill, and I'm glad we did the sautéed speckle trout I had was delicious, I only wish there was just a little more crab meat on top. My friend had braised short ribs, he enjoyed them very much. The atmosphere was nice and the server was polite and knowledgeable of the food and wine menu.
(4)Stuart R.
(4)M C.
I looked this place up on Yelp before traveling to Hattiesburg and the reviews were dead on. Great food, great service, and an awesome selection of beers - locals, domestics, and foreign. Highly recommend the Crab Cakes! Definitely worth eating here!
(5)Cee L.
This is one of my favorite places to dine! I love seafood and their corn and crab bisque is really good. The staff are very friendly and food is consistently good. My only complaint would be that on Friday nights when the house is packed, the food maybe a little less than hot. My husband and I avoid that by going during the week!
(4)Nguyen L.
Food is excellent. Waiters/waitresses range from genuinely nice to alright. Never had a horrible waiter/waitress. I've ate at a lot of places and I must say that CCG has the most consistent food.(Hot and good)
(5)Michelle S.
(3)Chrissy J.
Excellent food, and the staff is always fantastic! All of Robert St. Johns's restaurants are the best in the Burg, hands down.
(5)New To Bentonville C.
Nice local place with good variety of food and nice ambiance. Not too formal but plenty of ladies in dresses if one's in the mood. Glad we found this place on our way down to the beach instead of another chain restaurant.
(4)DBlk M.
Crescent City Grill was simply heaven!!! The Seafood Crepes were absolutely the best. Will dine there from now on when I have to visit Hattiesburg or anywhere remotely close. It's worth the trip. Hattiesburg's best kept secret!
(5)Andrea B.
(3)Samantha D.
(4)Michael W.
(2)Elizabeth C.
(5)Chocolate L.
(5)Matthew M.
(3)Garen M.
(4)James S.
This place had outstanding service, the manager stopped by the table to ensure our large group was having a good experience, and the food was amazing!
(5)Jennifer T.
(5)Cee G.
One of the best and classic places in hattiesburg! I love eating out on the patio! Great food and environment. The one place you must visit in this town!
(5)Cath M.
In from out of town and went here due to Yelp rating and was in the mood for Cajun. The wait staff was very good and very friendly. The food was a disappointment however. I ordered gumbo and my husband ordered shrimp étouffée. My gumbo was too salty so I mixed in a side of rice. The étouffée and gumbo tasted exactly the same which they shouldn't and the shrimp was tiny and way too plentiful. I cannot recommend the dishes we had.
(2)Gaz H.
(3)Alison L.
(4)Shannon S.
(4)Joe G.
What more can I say - great food and service. A Hattiesburg gem.
(4)Gwen J.
Delicious food, a wide variety of exciting dishes to choose from . Great service promises a satisfying experience every time you go. Often you will seen the creator of these local restaurants, Robert St. John , mingling with his guests.
(5)Julie K.
Had corn and crab bisque .was great . Seafood pasta good. Best restaurant in hattiesburg, great service .
(5)Chris And Christina S.

Stopped in here on the basis of Yelp reviews, and I would give it 3 1/2 stars. It was crawfish season, and at noon on a Thursday the place was packed. Not wanting to wait in line, we jumped at the chance to be seated in the courtyard alleviating a short wait. Loved the ambience there, but we still had to wait to be served. The good: Crawfish étouffée contained freshest mudbugs I can ever recall being served. Very tasty! Hubby's shrimp and grits also were very good. The bad: the sensation salad was nowhere near sensational, don't know why they call it that :/ very mediocre at best...

Absolutely love this place. The food is always top notch.

Great service and very nice decor. That being said I thought the food was average. If I lived here I would give it another try. Not sure when I'll be back though. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant.

Great food, excellent bar, superior service and management. Never a bad experience!

(5)William L.

(3)Sarah C.

(1)Daniel S.

(5)Krsna V.
Had some good food here when living in Mississippi. I specially their blackened chicken sandwich. They put deep friend jalapeo peppers on it. Awesome!!! Drinks are good. A nice place, overall!!
(4)William B.
This place is one of my favorite eats in town. Their signature salad dressings and their famous desserts always get my mouth watering. This is my top choice for eating in Hattiesburg. I always love the great New Orleans style grill.
(5)Greg B.

(5)Gretchen A.
Good food, great service. A little pricey, but worth it if your looking for food cooked right.
(4)J T.
Nice place, good menu, good beer selection, looks like the wine selection is awesome. Had the Jambalaya, it was real good. Definitely will return . Thanks
(4)Harold S.

(5)Kat V.
Awesome crab cakes! Fast service & great food at a great price.
(5)Laura M.
EXCELLENT FOOD! Their wine list CANNOT be beat. Every time I come here, I am blown away by the fcuisine offered. I'm from the Sacramento/San Francisco area, so I am pretty picky. I would come here no matter the locale.
(5)Ron S.

(4)Dustin K.
(4)Bobby C.

(5)Billy T.
(2)Kendra M.
