I must admit I had mixed reviews about this restaurant, reading other reviews. Well I can honestly say the food and the atmosphere was really good. The waitresses were friendly and the food was great. The Cole Slaw is to die for. I tried to get their homemade recipe but they wouldn't give it to me lol. I recommend this place highly.

Worth the visit if you're in the Gulfport area. Great view of the Mississippi sound. Menu is somewhat typical of a coast seafood restaurant. I had the grilled oysters and they were very tasty. Has a bar area with nice size TVs if you heading out during a big game and want the option of watching or checking in on the game. The grilled red fish special r is a nice fish option, although I wasn't impressed with the sauce that came with it. One in our party had the fried oysters and they were very tasty as I managed to take a few! The potatoes and creamy cole slaw are good choices for sides. The bread budding is a must. Service was good the two times I ate there on my recent visit, the ladies were very attentive and pleasant.

Stopped in for a quick beer and bite on my way through to New Orleans. The view of the Gulf is spectacular, the grilled oysters are excellent, and staff is friendly and helpful. Apparently, the restaurant gets first pick of the catch in the morning, and the oysters are HUGE! Great place to stop for a bite if you're traveling along the Gulf Coast Highway.

We are visiting from out of town and wanted some seafood. Despite the look of the building, the food was really good. Our waitress, Monica, was excellent. We will be going back.
(5)Xiaoyue W.
A gentleman in welcome center recommended us this restaurant. It has the ocean view, so beautiful! The waitress is nice. We ordered a red fish and fried shrimp. The fried shrimp with tartar sauce is so nice!

I'll admit I was completely inebriated from a long day at the Golden Nugget pool club H2O by the time I arrived here for dinner but here is what I remember... We went on a Sunday night and it was completely empty. We ordered some sort of sampler dish to share and I remember enjoying the food. Seemed a bit expensive for what it was though. But hey, I was able to dine there in my pool gear and I didn't have to pay for it. Thank you southern gentleman. I could get used to this.

Stopped by for lunch while driving through Gulfport. We had the oysters which were shucked fresh upon ordering. They were big and juicy and hands down in my top 5 of raw oysters ever consumed- absolutely excellent. We all had different types of po boys and each was delicious. Bread was soft and fresh. French fries were also freshly made. A hands down delicious lunch. For dessert we had the bread pudding and it hit the spot. The food is great, you will not be disappointed. The view is also beautiful. Right on the beach and Gulf as far as the eye can see. Would be a great place to take a date for dinner during sunset. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely stop by again.

We stopped in on Labor Day for lunch before heading north from the coast. My husband had the shrimp poor boy and raved about it. Lots of tender juicy shrimp with generous dressing and veggies. Fries where good and crisp. I had the lunch portion of fried shrimp. Also quite good. I chose the house salad instead of slaw. I don't usually like restaurant slaw. My husband does, so he went with it. My sample of his slaw was impressive - crispy and very flavorful and not drowning in accumulated juice. They make all their dressings in house and I can say the thousand island was subtle and fresh. The only thing I would really complain about was the lack of real butter in the cracker basket. We went for the bread pudding for dessert. It was DELICIOUS!!! Made with French bread and doused with a generous amount of caramely pecan sauce, it was plenty big enough to share. Our waitress was old-time southern friendly. Add the terrific gulf view and you've got the recipe for a terrific seaside lunch.

Probably the most over priced place on the coast. Raw oysters at $18.95/dz. the only place you would pay more would be a high end restaurant in one of the local casinos. So to completely insult the customers they tell you that you can't get a poboy after 5. But if you order a fried soft shell crab sandwich, it comes out on a poboy roll. WTF?! Now to mention the flavor of this insulting concoction. It tasted like it was fried in old grease. The one star is for the bottled coors lite. No matter how hard they may try, they can't screw that up. Follow-up: When we paid at the register and I told the hostess about the food quality and my other complaint, she argued that was the manager's policy. No offer to credit me for poorly cooked food.
(1)Jose P.
This place sucked. Shrimp were so small you couldn't call them shrimp and oysters were small as well. Drinks watered down. I gave them another shot but they just disappointed me again to the rune of 70 bucks. Never again
(1)Tont H.
Oysters on the half shell fresh and quiet good. The oyster poboy was very fresh one of the bet I had. My mom had fish sandwich she stayed one of best she had. Service was above average for the coast.
(4)Abby T.
We visit White Cap every year on our family vacation for our first dinner together. This visit, we found it to be a little mediocre. The amount of food for each menu item is pretty good. I would even recommend sharing if you are planning on getting an appetizer. We visited in July and the oysters were excellent. We were only concerned with their description of lump crab meat as one of our orders turned out to be basically fish dressing with no crab meat involved- would've been nice to know that when we asked if it was, in fact, lump crab meat or not. The waitress was patient with our younger guests- who spilled an entire drink on the floor. The atmosphere is great for families or large groups.
(2)Dean H.
this is a family owned restaurant. Everything is freshly made all the way to the salad dressings and sauces. This is the most outstanding seafood restaurant on the coast
(5)Karin B.
Nice atmosphere and great food. We had the crab cakes and crabmeat poboy. Nice view of the gulf
(5)Rebecca L.
I was very impressed with their menu. Everything sounded wonderful. Eating it...well that's a different story. If I had one word to describe this restaurant it would be mediocre. I got the blackened ahi tuna and spicy shrimp creole. The tuna was very bland and over cooked. I ordered it medium rare. The shrimp creole tasted like a can of chef boyardee with shrimp and rice in it. Husband ordered the catfish and fries. He said it was very bland and just tolerable. Daughter got the country fried steak...same thing. Son got the chicken nuggets, they were a hit. Go figure! Another thing, their salad dressings which our waitress said were all made fresh and on site...they had no flavor! I was really disappointed. Service was decent and the atmosphere was good, but unfortunately it's not enough for my family and I to venture back in there. And just FYI...no military discount.
(2)Christopher M.
I love this place! Not too expensive and the service is always terrific! I never thought I would be heavy into Hush Puppies but I am now. I always love getting the Rip Eye Steak and I'll tell you this - I never leave this place with an empty stomach, I feel downright bloated everything I leave the place. Keep up the good work
(5)Glenn M.
Whitecap is one of those places everyone who visits wants to go. It's not bad but it's not great. The staff is outstanding and several of them have been there for many years. The decor is nice, the restaurant is clean and the view makes up for a lot. A little overpriced for what you get but the oysters are fresh and the beer is cold.
(3)Lorri H.
This restaurant is accommodating with food allergies. The server was very good about checking with the chef. I had the oysters on the half shell and they were quite good. The catch of the day, a white fish was cooked in garlic butter. Not enough garlic to taste though. It was cooked nicely though. The fries were not hot. Overall they did a fair job.
(3)Bill F.
Yankees love this place. Go in any time of day and at least half the clients are snowbirds. Personally, I found most of the food to be on the bland side and a tad bit over priced. Also, service tends to be iffy. It's a good place to get held hostage during your lunch hour and then get in trouble with the boss. You'd do much better going a few miles down the road to Steve's Marina in Long Beach.
(2)Cee L.
The only thing good about this place is the view! Great view, comfortable chairs and nice breeze. The food however was NOT good! It was bland and tasteless.
(2)Sam M.
On a trip down here and my Captain said he remembered this place was good, so we stopped in for lunch. We were seated quick and the waitress came over and brought us our drinks. She said she would give us a minute to look over the menus and be back. Well we waited for 20 minutes and watched her walk by 10 times. She never acknowledged us again...so we got up and left...and will never return.
(1)Remy O.
Maybe this is just a staple of living on the Coast or just a reminder of how people on the Coast like bland and fried food. BUt it stays crowded during lunch with the who's who of geriatric residents of MS. The three times I was here I felt cheated by how much I was paying for subpar fried food. On my last visit I had the fried oyster po'boy (* star) and was extremely disappointed. the oil they were using must have been old and slightly burnt because both the fries and oysters had that burnt taste. Everyone raves about the seafood but its all fried?!? Fish should be baked or broiled not batter and fried. Leave that for the bottom feeders (catfish) On two of my three visits the waitress came to take our order, but never came back. One glass of tea just does not quench my thirst. There are much better views and choices in this price range.
(2)James W.
Poor, processed food with a great view of the beach. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp creole, it was a handful of rice covered with an entire jar of plain spaghetti sauce and they added 5 shrimp to the mix. No creole influence or seasoning on this dish whatsoever- such an overload of thin, flavorless sauce that it eats like a soup rather than an entree. I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta , it was angelhair pasta drowned in lemon juice with 4 shrimp placed on top. We had about 6 bites of our dishes before we couldn't stand anymore. We were so disappointed with our food that we couldn't finish our dishes and decided to pick at the kid's chicken tenders so we wouldn't leave hungry. Way overpriced for what tastes like canned/processed food from Applebee's. None of the food tastes fresh, we left with 80% of our food left over and didn't even bother getting a doggy bag (not sure a dog would eat this) . The service was great despite the absolutely horrible food and overly steep pricing.
(1)Suzanne G.
Terrible service, very slow. Food was cold by the time we got it. Too expensive, too crowded & waited way too long for cold food. Won't go back
(1)Michelle J.
We come to White Cap every time we visit Gulfport. The shrimp dishes and oysters are amazingly fresh. Worth the price and the view is amazing.
(5)Amanda W.
I've eaten here twice, both times we were seated immediately despite it being very busy. The view is beautiful. The food was amazing (I love the seafood platter!!) No complaints at all. Love it.
(5)Scott S.
I was disappointed on my last visit (my third time) Tuna was dry and tasteless. Not sure how fresh it was. The soup tasted like catchup. Was there for lunch. My wife loves it. I'll suggest someplace else next time.
(2)Sue M.
Wonderful dinner this evening. We were celebrating an anniversary, (58th), but did not share it with the staff. Angela was our waitress. Some of us had eaten here before, but not all. Angela was very kind to the newcomers, explaining choices, giving samples, and helping steer us to a choice that we would like best. We tried the crab cakes. They were excellent. Angela brought out different sauces for us to try with them. No one had tried the bisque before. She brought out samples for us to try. We highly recommend both the bisque and the gumbo. Our entrées were all wonderful. Angela had recommended the catch of the day. It was excellent. Our evening was delicious and memorable. We highly recommend this homey restaurant and it's delicious foods. Thank you!
(5)Lynn B.
I've been there a couple of times & got the same thing - grilled Oysters. Anytime I'm on the Coast it's a oyster feast. First, the place is clean & seems to be a solid restaurant. Good service, clean, friendly staff. The Oysters are good but small both times I there. I think it's a little overpriced but most seafood is. I don't you can go wrong here
(4)David W.
Very nice place. Clean. Great view of the Gulf. The service was quick and friendly. The menu consists of basic seafood dishes. A lot of the dishes are fried but you can get things like grilled shrimp and Mahi Mahi. Don't miss the homemade ranch dressing and the red potatoes. Both are outstanding. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit steep, but that's to be expected at a restaurant located squarely in a vacation destination.
(4)Kimberly P.
Clearly anyone who is giving this place a good review does not know what good seafood is. Me and my husband used to go to the white cap all the time before Katrina and always enjoyed the food but the last time we went was his birthday and it was so disgusting!! My 8 year old ordered boiled shrimp , he's a picky Eater and my 12 year old son ordered the ettouffe I ordered shrimp pasta and my husband ordered the seafood platter. The ettouffe looked and tasted like some one poured a bottle of ketchup on sone rice and put some canned shrimp on it, my 8 year Olds boiled shrimp was boiled so long that when we tried to pull the heads off the whole piece of shrimp turned to mush my shrimp pasta was swimming in some weird white cream sauce I mean it was so much sauce I literally tipped the side of my bowl and it just poured on to a plate. My husband's seafood platter was just ok. When the waitress came to our table and asked us how it was I told her all about it and even showed her. It was horrible. All she said was I'm sorry brought us the check for 125.00 and sent us on our way, when we went to pay the girl at the register she asked again how our meal was and my husband was so mad that he picked this place to have his birthday dinner with his family and we were all leaving disappointed he told her it was awful and we will never be coming back he proceeded to tell her that we had been coming to the white cap for over 15 years and never had an issue with the food and he was saddened to see what it had come to. The decor is tacky, they bring you crackers and butter before your meal , I mean really !! The only thing worth going to this restaurant for is maybe the salt water fish tank at the entrance. But other than that Do Not a waste your time or your money on this place!!! And yes ,we did end up paying for this horrible dinner!
(1)Mindy W.
If you go here for the view, don't sit on the outside patio. Unless you enjoy watching, hearing, and smelling traffic zooming by the four lane highway between you and the beach. The fish tank at the entrance is the best part of this place. It is simply beautiful. The food, meh. First, a germophobe who takes a table on the outside patio would have a stroke. Dishes are put down right onto the table that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in quite awhile. Placemats would be a huge improvement. I had the shrimp creole. The shrimp was plentiful but small and tasteless. The dish was lukewarm. My husband had a pasta crawfish in white sauce and it was very good. Stop hear if your are starving. If not, find another option.

Growing up in Gulfport, the White Cap has been a staple in good seafood for many, many years. This weekend was my first time eating at their newest location on Hwy 90 in Gulfport (between Courthouse Rd. and Cowan Rd.) We chose to eat on the patio and it was a great choice. Great view of the beach - definitely a great, casual place to take out-of-town guests. Our waitress was very nice and we enjoyed raw oysters, crawfish po-boy, shrimp po-boy and the boiled shrimp plates. Everyone enjoyed their food. I especially enjoyed the fried shrimp. Great portions as well.
(4)Logan F.
It is like visiting the cafeteria in a nursing home! Old folks as far as the eye can see! Food is just plain awful! Small plates and the sides are like hospital foods! One of the worst seafood restaurants I have ever visited! You are better off hitting long johns silvers for better seafood!!
(1)Larry T.
Great view and food is usually great. I get the big mixed plate which will give you a nice sample of gulf coast seafood.
(4)Native A.
Terrible quality food & very overpriced for a Gulf Coast Seafood place. Everything tasted frozen and old. We dined outside back in July and the waitress appeared to keep forgetting about us although there were several other people dining outside too. We won't return.
(1)Kay P.
A nice relaxing place on the beachfront with good food and nice staff. I especially liked the place because we forgot what time it was just sitting there enjoying dinner while the sun went down over the ocean. A good place for a relaxing dinner!
(4)Isabel L.
This restaurant has a wonderful view, but food was not good at all. I ordered grilled fish (catch of the day, which was grouper) and the fish was seasoned too salty as if I was eating SALT! I felt bad but I had no choice but to ask them to remake it. After they made a new one it wasn't as salty but I found a HAIR in my potato salad and they forgot to put hush puppies b/c it was on my plate the first time. At that point I didn't send the dish back again but I should have. My bf ordered crab cake pasta and that was just bland tasting. It wasn't salty enough and didn't really have a taste to it. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this restaurant b/c food is overpriced and not worth it.
(2)Lan D.
A co-worker suggested this place for lunch. Apparently prior to Katrina this place used to be located on a pier somewhere out on the water. The hurricane destroyed it however and now it has rebuilt a bit further inland, though still close to the water. I think this place is definitely worth checking out, if only for the spectacular view. The side of the restaurant facing the ocean has essentially one long glass window, which provides a wonderful frame for a spectacular view. Grabbing a table by the window sometime when there is still light out should make for an excellent dining setting. The food however, leaves something to be desired. I'm a fan of fried oysters, so I had the oyster po'boy. Frankly, I've had better, which disappointed me because when I came in there was a gentleman at the bar shucking fresh oysters and they seemed so delicious. And maybe the fresh ones are, but I just didn't like how they fried them, or the quality of their oysters when fried (not sure if there really is an art to frying oysters.) I will say though, that I don't like coleslaw, but I thought their slaw was better than most places. The po'boy came with coleslaw and fries, but I barely touched the fries as they were kind of bland. Our waitress came to take our order, but never came back to check up on us. When we wanted to pay we had to walk up to the register because nobody noticed that we were done with our meal. This place is worth a look though, if only for the view.
(2)renee b.
Most amazing crawfish chowder I have ever had! This place was well priced and the food was very good, the staff was friendly and the place is clean. It's worth checking out.
(5)Sugar L.
I was visiting the Coast again and dined here three times during my stay. I had the jumbo shrimp lunch special, $8.95, twice and I had the shrimp poboy and fries on a Saturday, $10.95. The shrimp were always fresh! On my first return visit, Kesha was my server and she was very prompt and nice. I also ordered a margarita and it was quickly brought out. It was simple, but refreshing. I must say one of the things I loved about White Cap was the garden salad and dressing. I think I went back as much for the salad as the seafood. All in all, three more nice visits. Twice, I sat in the bar and still had a nice time without any complaints. My only little quibble was the woman (manager, I guess) calling out assigned tables audibly to the waitresses and the whole dining room, but other than that, I will be back! Also, this place opens at 11:30 am and is closed I believe on Tuesday. Call ahead to make sure.

Each time I visit the area , just have to go to white cap for lunch.Really good seafood , great view of the gulf. Jim S. ----- Wilmington NC
(4)Daniel G.
During both of my stays in Biloxi, I've driven down the shore to get to White Cap and I will keep coming back! White Cap has a big salt water tank full of colorful creatures near the entrance. You can eat inside or on the patio. The view of the ocean is a great touch. Ordering only an entree shouldn't leave you hungry at all. In my most recent trip, I loved the Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp entree. My father ordered the Seafood Platter and was very satisfied as well. All and all, they had a very friendly staff, a great environment, and great food both times that I've visited.
(5)Stephen N.
We went Saturday evening 3/16/13. We were seated quickly, the view of the Gulf was beautiful. The seafood platter was ok, nothing to write home about. The oysters were small and the scallops were rubbery. My wife ordered the stuffed flounder which she thought was just "ok". We had great service and were served our entree in less than 15 min. I wish we would have went to the Blow Fly Inn.
(2)Shanon S.
Great gulf view! Lots to choose from on the menu. Gumbo was good, large portions, friendly staff.
(4)E L.
Pretty damn good Redfish, and the crawfish Anthony is kick-ass. This is the best seafood on the coast; that really isn't saying much for Biloxi/Gulf Port, but this restaurant is really good and the price is very reasonable. Our waitress was probably the best waitress I have ever had-wonderful service!
(4)TexasGranny L.
I'm from Dallas and I stopped here yesterday with a friend who is a local. She said she really liked this restaurant but hadn't been back since they relocated post Katrina. We were seated promptly with a view of the Gulf and our drinks order was made immediately. I made my usual spiel to the waitress . . . "I'm from out of town and may never be in this area again. What is Unique to your restaurant that I absolutely MUST try before I leave?" . . . she recommended their Crab Cake Pontchartrain and Grilled Red fish. . . We ordered both and shared it all with a small order of grilled oysters as an appetizer I don't care for oysters but am willing to try most anything. I was no more impressed by the taste of grilled oysters (wasn't as good as Escargot) than I was about raw oysters. However, I loved the Red fish & found the Crab Cake Pontchartrain superb! We were too full to order desert so I have no idea about that selection. We did get a homemade Praline to share as we left. It was soft and tender & melt in your mouth good. I wish I had taken my camera.
(4)Lisa H.
Good food!! Amazing gulf-view! Friendly service! Nautical decor! And ....out-of-this world bread pudding!!!!
(5)Sydney H.
We were just visiting and had White Cap recommend from some locals we bumped into. The service was good, atmosphere great, and grilled oysters were super. Only complaint was that is was freezing in the there so bring a coat.
(4)Jerry E.
I have been a 20 year customer of the White Cap, so it is with a sad heart I have to write this review. I went here for dinner with excitement and anticipation of a great meal, but was horribly disappointed. The fish and shrimp were overcook, the parsley potatoes were overcooked to the point of being semi mashed potatoes and had a burned taste to them. The food was so bad, that I will NEVER return to this once great place. Save yourself 75% and go to Captain D's or Long John Silvers and you will get a far superior meal for a lot less money.
(1)Re H.
After a long day at the Children's Museum, it was time to fuel up. White Cap is located across the street from the beach here in Gulfport. The parking lot was packed which is always a good sign. Decor was kitchy Marine decor and coming from California where so many oldtime restaurants have the same, it brought back some happy memories. We were seated right away and the waitress took our drink orders and reminded us that it was busy and there might be a wait. I liked that, right up front.....it worked out well because John spent time at the big aquarium and I outside on the patio facing the gulf. I was in heaven soaking in the views. I started with a 1/2 dozen oysters, which were smallish, but delicious. Then the fish and chips for John an ample serving for a seven year old. I ordered the Shrimp platter, grilled. Which came with salad or slaw, fries or small red potatoes and a hush puppy. The meal was great, the atomshpere was wonderful and I can't wait to return with my husband in tow....

I came here for a going away get together with a few friends. The service here was terrible. Normally I would let it fly, but our server consistently kept mixing up our drinks and food every time we ordered (there were only 5 of us). Then, I ordered the ahi tuna cooked medium, and it came out well done. One of the other people I was with also ordered the ahi tuna cooked medium rare, and his came out medium well. Not only was it not cooked to our liking, but it was also very fishy tasting. It tasted like it had been left out for the day. The manager was notified and stated "nobody else has complained about the ahi tuna, and it's all from the same batch." They did nothing to compensate for our terrible food. Everyone else had fried shrimp and they were pleased with their food, but I would not recommend this place to anyone.

As a new orlenian I have a standard of what I expect at aseafood restaurant. While there I order the crawfish Anthony. I asked the waitress how it was. She informed me that many had order and only one client sent it back. The dish was perfect!! The sauce was something that butter makers dream of being apart of. The noodle were aldente. The dish was warm and filling yet not heavy enough to make one want a nap. The portion size for the price was outstanding. Far bigger than I expected. Don't miss this restaurant if your planning on eating on the coast. Also when you arrive ask for a table by the gulf side windows, the view of the gulf from their 360 degree windows around the restaurant are breathtaking on clear night. White cap a must see!
(4)Mike M.
I went here last night only because I was hungry for seafood and there was a truck show going on in biloxi. The police were already out in force to handle the thugs so traffic was backed up. I decided, being new here, to try this place. It looked busy which usually means a good restaurant. Because the line was long I decided to just eat at the bar. Despite there only being about five people at the bar it took about 10 minutes to get a beer and a menu. I was disappointed with the menu but decided on the grilled jumbo gulf shrimp, which came with fries and a salad. The salad was mediocre but the shrimp and fries were pretty good. Unfortunately, not for the $15. I could do better at a Red Lobster.
(2)Miriah B.
Loved the old White Cap as a kid but now I'm not so sure. Was ignored for 20 mins before anyone stop by to ask if we would like something to drink. Too many fried seafood and not a option to ask for it to be broiled. Asked if certain fish had bones and was told "No, the cooks take it out." Well, sorry it was the whole fish, bones and all. I don't mind that if it was cheaper but it was over $20 and was hoping it did not have bones. Not in the mood to choke. Little over priced for my liking.
(2)Miranda H.
As a Gulf Coast resident, I have a certain standard for local cuisine. The view is beautiful & the service was superb. I love to support local fare so that too is a bonus. My dining companion complained of the menu. It is limited & not very discriptive. I ordered stuff shrimp, as I have done at many locations & received my stuffed shrimp fried :(, which is not what I'm used to. As a matter of fact, a large portion of the menu is fried. I must say though, if po boys & fried food are your thing than I'd definitely recommend.
(3)Katherine H.
Went here in June 2010-people in hazard vests were policing for tar balls. There aren't a lot of dining options after Katrina so settled for here based on the motel desk clerks recommendation. The options are mostly fried. It was pretty basic food- a senic Long John Silver's or Captain D's.
