Wonderful! A friend told me about this place, so I took several buses to get here and it was great! I had the margherita pizza and mozzarella sticks. The waitress was wonderful and meal was amazing! Thanks Tony's!

I absolutely have to stop here when I am in the local area. Hell, even if it's not all that local I will drive well out of my way for those mozzarella sticks! The ambiance and the wait staff are both calm and warm. I love the closeness of the restaurant which is odd because that is something I would normally complain about. Maybe it's the smell from the oven or the soft lighting but it just feels like dinner with the folks. That is if they could cook half this well (sorry Ma!). I'll jump right in at the top. The fried mozzarella is some of the best I have ever had. With my Air Force fitness test coming up I am very careful to watch my waistline but I'm telling you, if someone dropped a double order of these at the starting line, I would scoop up a handful and mange a mile and a half. They are large and crispy and the marinara is slightly sweet and very tangy. The pizza is excellent but then it's virtually impossible to jack up a wood fired pizza as long as you get the dough pretty close to right. I am a cheese and pepperoni guy and it's always been spot on. I love this place! If you are in the south of Mississippi this should be at the top of your to eat list.

A group of us went... The pizzas were delicious. The crust was just about perfect! I had a taste of the lasagna, which was good. I had a taste of the antipasti skewers that were drizzled with some kind of pesto-y dressing that was VERY good! One of my friends got bread sticks with that same dressing. The service was a bit slow. It took our waitress a while to get to us - Maybe ten minutes. After we ordered two pizzas, spaghetti and meatballs, and a lasagna, it took 30+ minutes for our food to arrive. Two of my friends (regulars) commented that it didn't usually take this long. The place was jammed by the time we left. I enjoyed the visit and the food!

Pizzas are good with nice crisp edges and thin crust bottoms. Good brick oven. Good brick oven. Toppings are in the correct proportion to avoid soggy crust with good quality cheeses too. I wish the pizza sauce had a bit more tang... that's my taste. Lunch lasagna comes in a six inch ceramic oval dish bubbling hot. I didn't see or taste any ricotta and I wish there were more herbs. My taste. I like this place and go often. U go 2.

Fantastic pizza and wonderful atmosphere. A real wood fired brick pizza oven and fresh ingredients make for a great pie.

Delicious! The pizzas were so good and the meatballs were homemade. We had to order a second order of them because everyone enjoyed them so much. My daughter loved watching our pizzas being made!

Pizza is good but not "wow". I have had some really amazing pizza so I know I am biased. I had the margarita and upon the first bite I can tell that the motzarella cheese does not stretch as expected (I even asked for extra cheese but couldn't really tell). But the crust was nice and crunchy, just not amazing. Sauce was tasty and basil had a fresh flavor and smell. I would go again, but next time I might try one of there specials or pasta dishes. Definitely a good find in Gulfport.

As a frequent visitor to the Gulf Coast, I am thrilled that so many small, non-chain restaurants are coming back to the coast after Katrina did so much damage! My co-foodies got the vegetarian pizza. Tony's pizzas are cooked in a high-heat, brick oven...with the slightly blackened (NOT burned!), bubbled crust that a good brick oven gives. The pizza included squash, asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, and peppers. They loved everything except the squash, which they said was a little crunchy and under-done. We ordered the roasted garlic (one of my favorite things in the world!) appetizer, which was to be "served with fresh focaccia, asiago cheese, on a bed of sauteed spinach." We received two whole heads of garlic, which was nice, but only 4 narrow slices of focaccia and 4 sticks of cheese (tasted more like a good mozzarella than asiago, which was fine...it was very good). The spinach was wonderful, but spread very, very thinly on the plate (maybe most people don't eat it so they don't put much??). Realizing that 4 thin slices of focaccia would not be enough for two entire heads of garlic, we asked for more bread. They explained that we would have to place an order for another whole order of focaccia (we declined). Unfortunately, once we squeezed the garlic out of the heads, we realized that it had not been roasted enough...it was still hard...not the wonderful, soft, creamy texture that it should have been. We did ask them to box it up and we took it home and re-roasted it (we did not bring it to the attention of our server, so I don't know what they would have done...I would assume either roast it longer or comp it...we were happy taking it home). I ordered the rustic Italian sub on focaccia, which was absolutely amazing. It had several cured meats (including a delicious prosciutto) and a slightly spicy olive-pepper tapenade. Delicious from first bite to last and I HIGHLY recommend it! Served with kettle chips instead of plain, boring potato chips. We also ordered a lemon-blueberry mascarpone cake and the ultimate chocolate cake. The chocolate cake had a good flavor but was a little dry. However, it was more than made up for by the mascarpone cake, which, again, was utterly amazing. I wanted to lick the plate so that I didn't miss a bite. The restaurant is really pretty and the service was very good. You could easily take someone on a romantic date to Tony's. Soft lighting, a nice bar, and excellent food. I would definitely go again!!!

Well, well, well. This was quite the pleasant surprise in downtown Gulfport. And you certainly can't beat the prices. I walked out of there with a $20 ($25 with tip) bill for 2 glasses of merlot, a huge meat lasagna and a very delicious salad. Whaaaat?! And this was a nice place. Loved people watching and snooping on the first dates. Don't judge me, observing awkward first dates is my vice (mostly because I've been on so many, I totally sympathize, y'all!). And I really love it when they've never met before..."Are you so and so?" or when they just sit there in silence...*sigh* brings back so many memories... Anyways, I think downtown Gulfport is precious to begin with and I've been very impressed with their restaurant selection. My group of 12 left very happy and I couldn't thank my server enough. He was attentive and not the slightest bit overwhelmed. And I definitely appreciated the owner coming over to chat with us and make sure we were all happy...even if he did make fun of me for not being able to eat all of my lasagna - it was ginormous! Since we come to this horse show every year for 4 weekends in a row, I definitely foresee us coming back. Next time I'm getting the seafood pizza. My girlfried gobbled it down in seconds!

This has become a regular stop for us. We love the roasted garlic!!! The spinach artichoke dip is more about the fresh vegetables than filler. The supreme pizza is wonderful with chunks of wonderful toppings. The service is top notch!

Thank you, Tony and Beth for giving us a wonderful family restaurant to enjoy. Just hosted our umpteenth family gathering there last night with out of town family to celebrate a birthday. We can always count on you guys accommodating us and treating us like royalty. Our server, Jason, was exceptional. Dismissed the kids and stepped next door to your wine cafe to top off the evening. What a joy! Thanks

I travel to NYC almost weekly and this place stacks up with some of the best Pizzas I've had in New York. For a fair comparison, I tasted the Perfect Pepperoni pizza. The sauce is deliciously fresh, the crust is perfect, and cheese is stringy as it should be. I can tell that everything were made in house and the ingredients were sourced carefully. For starters, try their fried mozzarella which is out of this world. This roasted garlic appetizer is also a crowd pleaser. The atmosphere here is inviting and the service is top notch. I would definitely come back to Tony's on my next visit. Cheers...

Came here while on vacation with my family and enjoyed it very much. The staff was friendly, and the food was very tasty. The restaurant itself was decorated in a really neat fashion and was a great environment. It was especially neat to see the pizzas being made and put into the brick oven. I got a margarita pizza and loved it! Would definitely go back if I was ever in that town again.

The place for Pizza and Italian-American menu items in Gulfport. Excellent service , good prices and a great environment makes this a perfect place for lunch or dinner.

We enjoyed pizza and sodas as part of this dining experience. My partner ordered the meat lovers pizza and i ordered the build it yourself (pesto sauce, andouille sausage, 4 cheeses, mozarella). My pizza was just about perfect with a great crust. My partner's was excellent with a somewhat drier almost burnt crust on the edges (but he had no complaints.) The servings are reasonably priced and generous.

I've been there 3 times and the staff is always great! The pizza is one of the best in the area.. if not the best. Go there and enjoy yourself , as I have. 10 out of 10! Good work Tony's!

Another must-eat restaurant added to the list for trips back home. Wow, incredibly good pizza, plenty of options to appease most anyone. Service was good as well. Show stealer was the roasted garlic heads with cheese and bread. After the bread was gone, we added the leftover garlic to everything else. Good atmosphere but the booths are built in a way that you will become involved in the (very loud) conversations of your neighbors. A very positive point to mention was that the waitress brought out a plate with dough and flour for the kids to play with while we ordered. Nice touch. Not a bad price, fair for the good fare. I would definitely recommend a stop for anyone - plenty on the menu to accommodate your entire party.

I found Tony's via Yelp while I was staying in town for the night. That atmosphere is very inviting and the staff is very friendly. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be coming back when I come this way again.

I didn't even know this joint existed until a co-worker suggested we have a get together there. We were greeted immediately upon walking through the door which made an good first impression. We were promptly seated and ordered our chow. I had the lunch special which consisted of 2 slices of pepperoni and a side salad with a drink. The sweet tea was good but not McDonald's sweet tea good. The pizza was flavorful and satisfied my taste buds. The italian sausage I had added on to my slices added another deminsion of taste. The meal came out to $6.75 which was fine with me. The restaurant was very clean with a cozy decor. I shall return...

Best pizza on gulfcoast! I'm from NYC and it is on par with or better then most brick oven pizza spots. Been here 10x's in the past 2 Months and haven't been disappointed at all. Whenever I am on the area again this will definitely be were I go to first.

The best Pizza Gulfport, Its thin crust Brick Oven style. Open kitchen, so you can see the oven and kitchen. Service can slow down during busy hours, but otherwise great and friendly service. Personnel favorites being the Perfect Pepperoni Pizza, and the Cannoli for desert.

Visiting Gulfport? This is a must. I have had their pizzas and they are some of the best I have ever had. Their pizzas are amazing, so I decided to see if their sandwiches are just as good and they definitely are. I had the PLT (Prosciutto Lettuce Tomato) Sandwich and WOW! So good!

We were in town visiting for my niece's cheer competition and decided to try a local restaurant for dinner. I hopped on yelp and noticed a pizzeria near our hotel. We walk in and the first thing I notice is a huge brick oven behind a bar. The waitress was very nice and brought out some pizza dough for the kids to play with. I ordered the black ended shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked very well. The Alfredo sauce was delicious and the penne was just right. My sister-in-law ordered a Salad & Steak which we initially assumed was steak salad. The order came with a sliced New York strip that was tender and juicy. This restaurant was a great find. It has a great atmosphere, tasty food, good menu options, family friendly and the service was excellent. Don't delay in making the choice to try it for yourself.

Great pizza with cool atmosphere! They give you ranch & Catalina dressing for dipping. We had cheese & meat lovers & both were great! Great service!

This place was awesome. I got the lunch special (until 2pm). The cheese pizza with a side salad. I also ordered a side of the bread. Ask for pesto sauce for dipping! It's to die for.

  • Cecilia T.

I really enjoy their Italian dressing on their salads. I also like their foccacia which they serve with everything. The prices are on point especially for how much food you get. The fried cheese is really good as are the sauces that it comes with. The entrees themselves need salt because the flavor is lacking. The pizzas are average.

    (3)
  • BriCath K.

Great to average to even marginal. This was once one of our favorite spots. However the last three times we have been it has been rather disappointing. It seems like due to their success, they are now making pizza crusts in advance, and the same with their bread. The result has been rather stale bread, mozzarella that has been cold in the center, and pizza that is soggy and tastes like it has been re-heated. Perhaps in order to serve customers faster, I see where they now make 20 or 30 pizza crusts and partially cook them in advance, and then finish them after someone orders a pizza. they must be doing the same with their bread. I'm not sure if the owner realizes the impact it has had on the quality of their food, but perhaps the volume and speed of sales is more important. It's too bad, this was such a gem.

Great service and delicious pizza straight from the brick oven. Me and the wife were looking for a place to eat that was still open at 8pm on a Sunday night in Gulfport on our first night in town since nothing was open on base. The town seems to shut down early on Sundays. We didn't want to settle for fast food and were lucky enough to find this place. Wife ordered spaghetti with meatballs and I had a pepperoni, mushroom and onion pizza. Both were outstanding!

Great family/date night restaurant. Dim lights, but family oriented. You walk in and instantly smell the amazing food. The bread is delicious, and the prices are extremely reasonable. If you're in town, you should certainly eat here!

This place is great. The service is always good, the pizza is great, and the lunch lasagna is a killer deal. I also love the focaccia bread they give you with salads and entrees. This place is packed almost every day at lunchtime, and the location is in an older building with cool brickwork inside. Definitely worth checking out.

Really good attentive service. Third time vising there in November 2014. The Margarita pizza is not exactly Neapolitan style. They use their own Tony's tomato sauce in it, bit different from the classic authentic one. Ambiance is cozy and they have great lunch specials.

Can't say enough good things about this place! The highlight for the kids was getting a glob of pizza dough and flour to play with while they waited for their food. In addition, they could watch the cook make our pizzas and put them in the brick oven. Servers were very friendly, we had two since ours was training. Both came back to check on us and make sure everything was good. The pizza was delicious. Lots of different varieties or create your own. I enjoyed the Margherita pizza (basil, mozzarella, chunky tomato sauce). My daughter had the kids fettuccine and it was delicious as well. Nice décor inside, old brick building in downtown. Another highlight was the happy hour prices on beers until 6:30 pm.

My daughter wanted to have her birthday dinner here after reading that kid's get a piece of pizza dough to play with to keep them pacified while waiting for the food, so naturally we all loaded up and stuffed ourselves silly with Italian last Wednesday at TONY'S BRICK OVEN PIZZERIA! I ordered the Fried Mozzarella as an appetizer and although I never said it out loud, as I bit into these perfect pillows of deep fried dairy perfection I felt notably more sexual and had to remind myself that children were present...along with other strangers. I realized that I could get into a LOT of trouble eating these petite fours of the deep fried cheese world, so I prompted my son to save us all and eat the rest. The temptations just kept coming...the meatballs were said to be outstanding, but I wouldn't personally know. I had my own stand off with a piping hot lasagna...As I consumed my lasagna...or it consumed me, I finally understood all those Garfield cartoons of my youth. My son ordered a cheese pizza which he immediately forgot about when he saw the Gumbo Pizza...poor little cheese pizza. Gumbo gets all the attention! Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! The gumbo pizza was so intriguing to me...the andouille sausage they used had me whispering, "SHOOT 'EM, JACOB!" No doubt, I picked my slice based on how much sausage was on it....so, so, good~ I wasn't too hip on the salad, but the focaccia bread that accompanied everything was heavenly...crunchy crust, dense soft inside and great flavor! The sweet server brought our bloated birthday girl a Cannoli on the House and she loved it...she couldn't finish it alone, but lucky her...we were ALL there to help her out! This is such a neat little place...kind of the Hibachi of the Pizza World. Guys in white throwing pizza dough in the air all while nursing this huge open brick fire pit beautifully built into the wall. I loved that they retrofitted this old building and brought life to it again...just a great place, with great food and great prices!

  • Rebecca L.

My family and I love coming here! Their margarita pizza is absolutely the best I ever had (not an exaggeration!) seriously, the best! I always order that and usually have them add on roasted zucchini. The hubs always gets the meats, he's never disappointed. Ample toppings every time. The kids usually end up getting the pasta and of course for *cough* safety measures *cough* I "sampled" it. Over the top! Both the marinara and Alfredo are authentic, and I'm very pleased with both. We even brought my folks here when they were in town and my dad gave it the ol' two thumbs up. Prices are wonderfully decent! The only reason I can't give this tasty place 5 stars is because every time we go the service is horribly disappointing but the food keeps us coming back. Just a tip...don't suck down your drinks and don't be in any hurry when you come because it will be a while before your needs get met. And unfortunately this goes for both lunch and dinner. Other than that the place is practically perfect.

Exceptional specialty pizzas at a good price. We particularly enjoyed the smoked gouda, roasted garlic and focacia bread appetizer. The Mediterranean pizza was great (not a good reheat pizza but that's not Tony's fault! LOL). And - being in Mississippi - I CARE about my tea. Fake tea = Fail. Tony's provides REAL tea. Thumbs up!

My wife and I wanted pizza and decide to try Tony's. Located in downtown Gulfport, in one of the many revitalized buildings. For the size of the place there are many places to sit booths, tables, a sitting bar close to the open fire pizza oven, and a separate alcoholic bar for adults. Service was quick, we were greeted and seated quickly even though they seemed busy. Then things really started moving got drinks, made a social media post, ordered a starter, and a pizza. All the those things took place and came to the table within 20 minutes. I don't think we were there longer than 30 minutes. We weren't rushed, service was just quick. We had meatballs as a starter, three medium size balls in a thick marinara. Followed by Downtowns Supreme 12" pizza, it has everything but the kitchen sink. Great crust, great ingredients. Again was amazed at how quick it came to us after ordering. Would definitely go back.

Real good pizza!!! Shrimp and oil version is awesome! Pepperoni and meat lovers as well! Can't go wrong with good beer and good pizza, right? Love the atmosphere and staff! We will be back next time we are in town.

When my sister and I walked in, a couple of employees looked up at us, but no one greeted us or came to seat us. We decided we were supposed to seat ourselves when no one acknowledged us. They were very slow but it still took the server a few minutes to come over and introduce herself. She was an average server, nothing over the top. I ordered the spaghetti with meatball for my daughter. It comes with 1 meatball, but it is a large meatball. But they charge $1 for one meatball. We ordered the 12 inch veggie pizza, and the selection of vegetables was very nice. But I was not a fan of how limp the pizza was. I was also not a fan of seeing the girl making pizzas having some hair down alongside her face, even though she was wearing a hat. They had a nice wine selection that was reasonably priced. All in all I was satisfied, but I was not extremely impressed. Probably would only go back if somebody else was paying.

  • Jeffrey S.

The shrimp pizza was absolutely awesome; generous portion of shrimp and loaded with other toppings like spinach, tomato and plenty of garlic. The spinach dip appetizer had little bits of prosciutto that made it the best ever. Highly recommended place that was also family friendly.

Great place! Atmosphere was great,we had the roasted garlic with asiago ,fresh basil, roasted garlic, and focaccia bread as an appetizer it was delicious! We had the Mediterranean pizza it's delicious too. For dessert we cannolis the filling was different than I'm used to, but it was good. Definitely want to return, everything is fresh made even the cheese!

This is a great spot. Located in downtown Gulfport on 14th street. I love the quiet, small, very clean, and relaxing atmosphere. The service here has always been superb. The whole staff is friendly and i've never encountered a problem. The pizza is pretty awesome. Nice sized brick oven pizza. There is also a good selection of specialty pizzas and a create your own. I've had some pastas here as well. Nothing bad to say about them either. Overall, if you're looking for a quiet/nice kickback spot. This is it. Great location, clean restaurant, friendly staff, and great food!

  • Jean-Daniel V.

Too bad the service takes away from the pizza itself. The crust is perfect and with the "create your own" option, how can you go wrong? When you can hear the wait staff ask "who's up" when you walk in and no one comes to seat you, that's not a great start. After we were served, the waitress did not come by and ask how the food was, something that normally happens right after you take a bite. Instead, she dropped off the bill and told us she'd pick it up whenever we were ready. Good food, nice establishment, not so good service.

I work in downtown Gulfport and eat here at LEAST once a month. The food is consistently delicious, while the service is consistently bad. I love absolutely everything about this place, from the atmosphere to the fantastic house salad and raspberry vinagrette...EXCEPT the service. The servers are slow, neglectful, and today...downright rude. They should be trained in customer service...and then trained again.

Gulfport, Mississippi is still rebuilding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and Tony's Brick Oven Pizzeria opened there in 2010 joining in on Gulfport's Historic Downtown Renovation Project. Tony's offers a fun dining atmosphere where you can actually see the process of your pizza being made - from the dough being tossed to it cooking in the oven - right from your table. I split a pizza that was half The Perfect Cheese and half The Perfect Pepperoni (which is just The Perfect Cheese with pepperoni). I think my favorite part about the pizza was their rich four cheese blend of mozzarella, provolone, romano, and parmesan. I was also impressed with the crust that was very uniform all around for a hand tossed pizza, and it was solid enough to hold the pizza together but not too crispy on the edges. Tony's marinara sauce was pretty good as well, but I think there may have been slightly too much on my pizza as I would have preferred for the taste of the cheese to stand out a little more. Overall, I think Tony's Brick Oven Pizzeria is a great option for pizza in Gulfport for locals and tourists alike, and it may be especially convenient for vacationers as it is just blocks from the beach.

Great pizza! Thin, crunchy, and a good selection of toppings. The dough is just right and their lunch specials are pretty generous, especially the 2 slices and house salad. You will be full just withe salad.

Great atmosphere and food! Apparently it was voted best pizza in Mississippi and we weren't disappointed (although I'm not sure how much competition they have). They do a thin crust one size only. I went with a group of four and we all had a side salad and shared two pizzas. It was plenty of food. We tried the pesto and commander's. I thought the latter had too many toppings so I preferred the pesto. Both tasted of fresh ingredients. Downtown Gulfport is essentially deserted, except for this restaurant. We came on a Friday night and it was lively and warm, but not too noisy. The service was fast and friendly. They even had a beer/ wine list and a full bar. I'd definitely return if I ever make it to Gulfport again.

I'm from NYC/NJ stationed in MS (hell on earth) and Ive gotta say Tony's is one of the ONLY places around that makes me forget it. Ive had most of their pizzas which stand unrivaled in these parts and almost every pasta dish which to me are even more delicious than the pizza. Many are simple dishes but they are done impeccably, but this place also has cool weekly specials not featured on the menu to surprise us. (ask for the specials you'd be missing out if you didn't) A favorite on the menu being the seafood Rosa pasta although i ask for marinara sauce instead half the time to change it up. To conclude i say EVERY dish I've had at Tony's has surprised and uplifted me with spectacular food combined with a cozy/classy atmosphere. The service has never truly disappointed me and i feel welcomed every time. DO not miss this place

This was the perfect restaurant for what we were looking for--something inexpensive and low key. The staff was extremely friendly, and the service was fast. The pizza is a perfect size for two people--12"--and that allows for families to order two different types if they want. I had the side salad with the house dressing, and the dressing, recommended by my waitress, was excellent. The soft drinks come in huge glasses with free refills--the waitress offered to give us a refill in a to-go cup. We had pepperoni and mushroom pizza (the "Perfect Pepperoni" with mushrooms added) and it was excellent. I liked the crust and the marinara sauce in particular. I would come back here if in this area and I definitely recommend it to others. Very kid friendly--other reviewers have commented about the wait staff providing the kids with dough to play with and we saw that this is still true. Nearby street parking is free. We had no trouble finding a space, but we were there about 7:00 on a Monday. Possibly this is more difficult on a Friday. Our bill was under $25 including a beer and a side salad to go along with the pizza.

Best little pizza place I've been to in the area. Cozy and very relaxing atmosphere. Nice place to visit, especially in the winter time.. Everything I've tried at this establishment has been on point. Bravo!

We tried their "Gumbo Pizza" and pepperoni pizza. The pizza sauce for the pepperoni was bland! The gumbo pizza was more of a novelty item and would not order again. 2 glasses and 2 pizzas was $33...way too expensive!

My favorite pizza is a brick oven style pizza. I ordered a supreme and it had more toppings than any supreme I have ever eaten. Black and green olives, onion, green pepper, tomato, bacon, sausage, ground beef, peperoni, artichoke... I was very happy with the taste and atmosphere. The service was slow at first but once we had our order taken it was exceptional. A must visit in Gulfport.

The reviews on this place is spot on. The pizza is the best around and the service is good. Great place for kids.

i was very impressed with tony's. my girlfriend and i went for lunch and split a 14" specialty pizza. i'm going to gloat about it b/c it's my little invention: light sauce, roasted garlic, carmelized onions (which they don't have, so you have to just get red onions), and goat cheese. best pizza combo there is. you're welcome. the service was great and the whole lunch was very timely and convenient, especially for a pizza joint. we both thoroughly enjoyed it and i'm glad tony's is here and hopping b/c it's a great place with options and that's a needle in the haystack that is the MS gulf coast.

We ordered some food to go when we came here, so I can't say too much about the ambiance of the restaurant. However, it looked nice and the waitstaff were friendly. The food was good and plentiful with each order. My husband and I shared a pizza, a entree-sized salad and the roasted garlic appetizer. This was definitely too much for the both of us, but it was hard to stop eating it because it was yummy.

As everyone has already said, the Roasted Garlic is one of the best appetizers I have had in a long time. I was by myself and didn't really want an appetizer but ordered it just based on reviews and was not dissappointed!! Order the Margherita Pizza and while the crust was a good brick oven crust with nice even browning on the bottom the toppings were not evenly distributed. I had 1 piece with nothing but sauce and the another piece with nothing but sauce and basil. The extra jalapenos I ordered tended to be in clumps and the fresh mozz cheese missed those 2 pieces entirely and was heavy on about 3 and light on the remaining 3. If not for this I would have rated 5 stars.

Tonight me and a couple of friends decided to try Tony's Brick Oven Pizza. What a great place to grab a bite to eat. Great prices great menu! I am a huge fan of Brooklyn's Pizza but I have to say this is my 2nd favorite! It is very clean and cozy. They bring dough out for the kids to play with.... so cute. Everyone is very friendly(something Brooklyn's could work on) I highly suggest the roasted garlic as an app with a nice cold southern pecan beer! I will definitely be back!

Tony's has a great atmosphere and great food. Pizzas are always cooked perfectly and they can build what you want. Salads have a bit much lettuce heart for my taste, as I prefer a more spring mix. Dressings are made in house and are good. They also serve steaks and pasta dishes, but the pizza is their specialty. Kid friendly; they bring the kids dough to play with and the cooks sometimes put on a good show tossing dough. No changing table for babies. Pass on the desserts, the only dessert made in house is the chocolate chip cannoli and it is just OK. Full bar. Prices are reasonable Cheese pizzas start at about $6. Make a reservation or you'll be waiting a while, as it gets packed in the evenings.

I know I'm a snob when it come's to pizza. If it's not from Chicago, New York, or Italy, I pretty much stay away from it. Little Caesars, Papa Johns, PizzaHut, etc. is all garbage to me and I only eat from these establishments when there are no other options. As far as Tony's Pizza is concerned, I think you'd be just as satisfied sticking with a frozen Tombstone or Digiorno. On the other hand, I do enjoy the pasta and clam sauce here. And as far as house salads are concerned, they have the largest variety of vegetables. Unlike the majority of establishments in this area where a handful of lettuce, one tomato and a sliver of onion constitutes salad.

Thanks to the Gulfport Yelpers for helping me fix my pizza craving, and although I wouldn't give this 5 stars in NYC, it's certainly as good as it gets in the area. The brick oven gives the bottom crust that perfect crunch - and the house parmesan tomato sauce had a nice flavor. If they could top this with fresh mozzarella - forget about it. It's a smaller pie, and there is no pizza by the slice. I recommend the lunch special which gives you two slices and a salad. You can then add another slice for $1.50. The service was great (which appears to be the norm for the area). Our waitress brought out a sample of their gumbo pizza - unasked - and it was tasty. I personally don't like seafood on pizza, but I can see where some would. Give this place a shot - no way you'll be disappointed.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was a typical Saturday lunch crowd. It took a few minutes for us to be acknowledged by someone. The chef came out and started cleaning off tables and seating people. We waited about 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. Another 15 minutes to get drinks. When my salad came out she didn't even get me silverware or come and check on me. I ate my salad like finger food. She had no personality and looked like she hated the world. I have been in the service industry for over 10 years and have never seen anything like this before. The food was AWESOME but with service like that you will never get repeat business.

We loved the area and the building itself. The atmosphere was amazing. However, I just did not like the pizza. It tasted like a frozen pizza to me.

In the coast with family who are very picky eaters. We were blown away atmosphere was great the brick oven cooking was nice. Waitress offered dough balls to kids to keep them entertained Always a plus for parents. We order the meatballs and fried mozzarella incredible! Now my daughter eat two of the meatballs and she hardly eats meat but she was loving these. Fried mozzarella was on time. We order Alfredo for my oldest who again is extremely picking he absolutely loved it it was the first restaurant he has ever eaten a pasta entree at. We sampled it and the subtle roasted garlic and penne pasta was great. We also tried a pepperoni and chicken Alfredo pizza the crust was the best I have ever had!! The overall pizza was also well done the top pizza in four states by far. My wife tried a sandwich they make the bread out of the same dough as the pizza crust. If your on the coast you have to go to Tony's!!

Walked in not sure what to expect and it turned out amazing! The fried mozzarella was the best I've ever had! It was filled with the perfect amount of cheese and fried to perfection! For lunch we had the pizza and spaghetti and that was really good! The service and atmosphere were very relaxing and clean! All around a great place and defiantly plan on visiting more!

I have tried every pizza place on the coast and this is by far the best pizza on the coast! The only place I have found that uses real, rather than canned, mushrooms! Roasted garlic appetizer is to die for. The rustic tomato sauce is delicious. Don't forget to top off your meal with amazing cannoli, absolutely superb! Prices aren't bad- 12 inch cheese is only $6.95, pretty great if you ask me! I will definitely keep going back :-)

Not wanting to be outdone by Heather P. or Jill M, I stopped by Tony's for lunch to see what all the hoopla was about. With Port City and Tripplett on the same street, parking can sometimes be a bear on 14th, but today the parking gods were with me and found a prime spot right in front of Tony's. We walked in to a very nicely decorated restaurant with spacious seating and a very comfortable bar to stop in on if before you head home or are starting your evening. Being that it was lunch I decided to have an order of lasagna (***3/4 stars) which had a very rich but tasty marinara sauce. It could have used a tad bit more meat but the cheese and pasta was cooked to perfection. It came with a side salad that was full of cucumbers, peppers and olives and a homemade ranch dressing. They had three other dressings available all made in house. My lunch buddy had the italia sub (*** 1/2 stars) which he said was very tasty but was disappointed that the only side dishes available, for now, were chips or salad. They said they will son be offering soups which based on the flavor of the food will be something to try out in the near future. Service was fast and friendly and lunch for two came out to under $20.00!!! Which is great, especially with all the flavors and natural ingredients they use in their entrees. Kudos to Tony and maybe next time I will try your lunch pizza special!!!

Hit up Toni's this past weekend cause I was having a "real" pizza craving. Not the Papa John's/Dominos pizza but the real thing. Toni's didn't let me down. I ordered my own special pizza. Feta, Portobello mushrooms and Prosciutto. Was excellent and I was thrilled to see some more unusual toppings that you normally don't find in the South at a Pizza place. Such as the feta or goat cheese. My SO ordered the meatball sub which comes on focaccia bread. I wasn't sure he was going to enjoy it with the different type of bread but he did. He also ordered a side salad which was filled with all sorts of goodies. Excellent salad for sure. The sauce they have for the pizza and meatball subs to me was just a tad bland. Not bad but I just expected a bit stronger flavors. It did have a nice rich tomato flavor. The decor of the place is BEAUTIFUL! service was pretty good. Will definitely be going back to get pizza again. And I agree with Jill, it's great to see Downtown coming back with wonderful restaurants :)

When I read another review recommending the roasted garlic appetizer, I knew we had to try this place. The appetizer certainly lived up to the claims! We thoroughly enjoyed it, as well as the meat lover's pizza that we shared, then brought half home for another meal. The ambience is nice, conducive to conversation with interesting music in the background. Service was great, and the prices are very reasonable.

Easy going atmosphere with good pizzas. The Downtown Supreme is loaded with toppings and is very filling. I have been here a few times and would return again. The friends I was with enjoyed making their own pizzas because of the ability to have seafood on them.

Great pizza and salads. The dressings seem to be homemade and are delicious. Unique sandwiches, which were delicious, too. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is very nice. We have been several times and the food was consistently good.

Pizza was great! I liked how the kitchen was open to the restaurant and you could watch the pizza being put into the brick oven. The crust was very good. The cheese was great, nice and stringy! You could taste the quality. I was a little dissapointed when I recieved the bill and was charged an extra dollar when I asked for extra sauce on my pizza and was not informed that there would be an extra charge. Other than that it was a good experience.

Delicious!! We went for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The waitress brought the kids some dough to play with while we waited, and didn't seem peeved that they got flour EVERYWHERE. (oops) They don't have a kid's menu, but do offer for little ones to share a half and half pizza, or a smaller serving of several pasta dishes. We all got pizza and were very pleased. Hubby got the meat lovers, I picked my own toppings, and the kids shared a pie, all were equally delicious. We even went for one each of all the desserts (cannoli, chocolate ganache cake, and lemon berry marscapone cake) and they were tasty as well. I would love to go back, but we're only in town visiting, and would definitely recommend it to anyone! We enjoyed it as a family, but it would also be a romantic date night spot.

I'm a big fan of pizza cooked in a brick oven and Tony's didn't disappoint. Crust was yummy. Sauces were good and flavorful. We had the margherita pizza and the Mediterranean. Cheeses tasted fresh. My only problem with the Mediterranean was there was too much toppings on it. Our waitress was excellent. She even brought out a little bit of raw dough in a bowl for our 3 year old to play with while we waited for the food. Restaurant had nice decor and a good ambiance. You will need to order 1 pizza for every 2 people in your party.

Finally had my first late lunch at this place. Good pasta, bread and a salad included. Salad had loads of veggies and a great parmasean dressing. Service was fast and attentive. Nice decor. I'll be back to try other items and the pizza.

I thought that Tony's had a lot of potential, and the food's flavor was pretty good, but I would say that $12 for a margherita is a bit pricy and there was too much flour on the bottom of said pizza, to the point that it detracted from the taste of the actual pizza. I would be willing to give Tony's another try when I am really dying for brick oven pizza, but on one experience I can't give an unconditional thumbs-up.

Always more than excited to see life developing in the downtown area in Gulfport, I had anxiously been eyeing Tony's for them to open with the fevor of a psycho stalker ex gf. When I heard that it was finally open I didnt waste any time getting in there to try it out and I was not dissapointed!!! We had the sausage and pepperoni pizza and one ham and both were delicious. The crust was perfect to me and the cheese was great. The pizzas are all 12 inch. Im not sure if this is a temporary thing since the menu stated it was only a limited menu and a full one would be available soon. There are also pasta offerings like lasagna and spaghetti on the menu. The newly renovated building looks awesome and the service was very nice and attentive. Oh and the prices were totally reasonable. The only thing i would like to see is more specialty type pizzas like bbq chicken, meditteranean, etc or more specialty topping choices but since its a limited menu this may be coming, but even if it doesnt, Tony's will still rate solid on my nom list!!!

Great location and building in historic downtown Gulfport. The Pizza is great. Tony's subs need some help but for the money, this restaurant is great bargain with pizzas and entrees starting at around $7.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
