Its good, but I think they hype up BBQ so much in all the rest of the country that you really expect it to be in the stratosphere and when it isn't it just becomes a slight bit disappointing. Place: Great looking place, very unique and eclectic place, it really adds to the whole experience. Service: Good, service, they make sure you understand that you order at the counter and then they bring you the food to your table. Also, they make sure you are happy with everything and that you are not lacking anything at all. Price: Seems to be a bit on the more pricey side for this area, I would think it is a bit of a treat for most of the locals to come to and not so much an everyday or week type of place unless you have the means. Food/Drink: The food is definitely good, I mean everything here is good, but again it just didn't blow my mind the way I thought it would as all over the country talks such a big talk but honestly I know of places in California, San Diego that are right on par with this place if not slightly better in my opinion. Happy eats!

This was our first time eating at The Shed. The brisket and ribs were average. The sweet potato casserole was amazing. You must choose this one as your side dish. The meat was overcooked and had too much sauce, in my opinion. Highlights: the atmosphere. It was quirky and smelled fantastic. Disappointments: the corn on the cob. Will I go back? Yes. But when they are live music so I can sit outside with a beer and a bunch of appetizers.

The Shed is corrugated tin, a shed, made out of debris (or looks like it). You are surrounded by old dirty junk claiming to be decor. It was Saturday night and a live band. I would not call it blues. I heard a woman tell her friend that her chair was acupuncture for the a--. Comfort was not on the menu. Food was decent but we like "Slap your momma" much better...both the food and the music.

Our friend heard about place while playing Blackjack at a casino, so we had to try it out. We arrived to what we thought was the set from the old Sanford and Son TV show. It literally looks like a Gypsy Caravan broke down here. It's great. We go inside and it's pretty much clutter and graffiti with Southern charm thrown in. The 5 of us ordered everything the had to offer, except Brisket, since they were out. Everything was great, for me the best was the Baby Back Ribs, just terrific. Also I love the Jalapeño Cheese Curds. Fun place, great food and very attentive staff. Would recommend.
(5)Benny V.
Decent, flavorful, but not my favorite... Corn on the cob is overcooked, beef brisket not tender because it is pulled and a little dry although slathered in sauce, ribs fall off the bone, no knife needed - again a little overcooked and slathered in sauce.
(3)Dennis P.
Passing thru on I-10 around lunch time whipped into the place and glad I did the Jumbo Sliced Beef Brisket was the best I eaten in a long long time... It was almost more then fat boy here could eat... Awesome place and the Shed decor was up my alley
(5)Alison Q.
Followed the hype...Cool space, solid BBQ. Glad we came!

Just had to try this after seeing it on the food network. The hype was more than the actual unfortunately. The BBQ was OK but not worth going out of your way. The meat was fall off the bone but the flavor just wasn't there. The BBQ sauce is good but they give you the smallest amount they can find. The sides were great but again small even though they call them a large. This place has potential but unless they change I wouldn't waste a trip to eat there again. We got the jumbo sampler with all the meats and 3 sides. The Potato salad was awesome but in what is a small container at any other restaurant. The Mac and cheese was uneventful and would have been better getting to Potato salads. The Sweet Potato casserole was very tasty but sadly to small considering they claimed the jumbo serves 3-5 people. The location is way out of the way if you are passing by. The building is unique and lives up the the name. They have allot of eclectic things to make it seem very country. The service was pretty good. Wish it was better but I call it like I see it.

This place was just A-OK as the three star comment says on Yelp. We ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Curds and Shed Sampler Platter. The cheese curds were good, but they were not Wisconsin style (aka delicious beer battered), they were more like mozzarella sticks. The Shed Sampler Platter had plenty of food for mom and me we ended up splitting: Baby Back Ribs, Spare Ribs, Pork, Brisket, Chicken, Sausage served with French Fries, Macaroni and Cheese, Coleslaw, and 2 BBQ breads. The sides were not that great, the brisket was a bit tough, but we did enjoy the ribs, pork, chicken and sausage. The restaurant itself was pretty cute and quirky, there is a big sand pile that kids can play in (tip do not sit close to it because some brats threw sand at us). Make sure if you order your drink you ask for your cup, we weren't givien our tea glasses until after we complained that our cheese curds and drinks didn't come.
(3)David W.
Their ribs and brisket taste like they've been boiled, little meat flavor and mushy texture. Sides remind me of canned pork & beans and mac-n-cheese from a box. The ice tea though is good. Pass.
(2)Angie T.
This place let me down. The service was pretentious and crappy. The food was overpriced and not good. I'm pretty sure that the baked beans came from a can, that the sausage was Hillshire Farms and the brisket and pulled pork were barely distinguishable from each other. When I inquired about sauce in the waitress brought up three little to go cups of what I believe was Kraft BBQ sauce in a bottle. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because some of the waitresses were wearing T-shirts that had "Nice Rack" splashed across the front of them. That's just funny stuff right there. I'm glad I tried The Shed, but I won't be back.
(2)Vicky B.
We had seen this on DDD on the Food Network. It is wonderful. The atmosphere is very laid back and the food is wonderful. Love it.
(5)Amanda S.
We went on a warm summer day but when we walked inside it was like an oven in there. I know it's a "shed" but I felt like we were the ones being cooked up in there. My family really wanted to try the famous Shed so we wondered around the restaurant attempting to find the coolest spot...there was none. No fans, nothing. Ain't nothing like attempting to eat piping hot food on a 100 degree day to ruin your appetite. Food was ok but not the best and not for what we paid. Hate to be critical but I would not recommend.
(2)Darryl J.
The food was fantastic! The decor reminded me of the old hole in the wall diners when I was a child. Awesome!!! Great service with heavy servings!
(5)Megan B.
One of the great things about the south is of coarse the food! I love the vibe at the shed and the food was good too! I had the pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good but I'll be trying something else next time...the place could probably use a bit more deep cleaning but the food and friendly staff make up for it in my book:)
(4)Mischelle M.
Do not get up and take advantage of the free beer checkin. they will throw your 16.00 meal away and not replace it. Go to Coops BBQ instead.
(1)Mike G.
Best BBQ joint we have ever been to. There are others that are good, but not as good as the Shed. Unique atmosphere, great, friendly staff and the food, to die for. Our third trip here and I have had something different every time. Every meal I had was worth writing home about. This is one of the best DDD restaurants we've ever tried (there been a bunch) and one we'll certainly recommend. Can't wait until the next trip.
(5)John L. H.
The best thing I can say about The Shed is that their building has a cool, casual, and funky vibe. If I were reviewing it based on that alone, my rating would be considerably higher. Unfortunately I also had some of the most mediocre "BBQ" at some of the steepest prices I've ever encountered. The Shed resembles an old roadhouse one would find in the deep woods somewhere. This ramshackle looking building led me to believe I was walking in to some old guys BBQ place that had been around forever and only recently become popular. I can't speak to the length of time they have been open, but I can tell you the BBQ is not what I would call traditional. After a long day in the nearby Desoto National Forest, I needed to rest and refuel. The Shed was nearby, and well rated, so off I went. I decided to try one of their sampler platters so I could try all the meats. This platter was quite expensive at $32, but I figured the amount of food would justify the cost, and that I could have several meals off of the one platter. Imagine my surprise when it was delivered to the table in a single to-go type container with the sides, napkins and a fork on top. I found it odd that there was no knife included, but I soon found out why. When I opened the container I was a bit taken back. It was pretty well filled with food, but it was crammed in where everything was on top of each other. Adding to the poor presentation was the fact that the restaurant was extremely dark. So dark that I had a difficult time distinguishing what meat was what. As far as the taste and quality, I was not impressed. The ribs were of the "fall off the bone" variety. If that is your thing, great, but that is not real BBQ. I suspect they may have boiled the ribs before cooking or done some other trick, but they were not good. The two different varieties of ribs (I think) had the same taste and consistency and lacked any smoke flavoring. The ribs reminded me of the type put out by chains like Chili's and Houston's. I realize lots of people like that type of product, but I doubt the ribs spent much time on a smoky BBQ pit. Not only could I not see the difference between the brisket and pork, but I couldn't taste the difference either. What I thought was the brisket was dry and chewy despite being shredded and loaded with sauce. That's the other thing that should have clued me in that this was some sort of mediocre non BBQ was the amount of sauce poured over everything. I am a huge fan of BBQ sauce as long as it compliments a well smoked piece of meat. This sauce overpowered the meat and made everything taste the same. Despite all of my complaining, the food was not horrible. I wouldn't describe it as good, but it was most certainly not the worst BBQ I have ever tried. I just feel like the entire experience was artificial. The building was purposely designed to give this place a road house feel and the BBQ was purposely designed to appeal to the masses. I guess there is nothing wrong with that, but it just isn't for me.
(1)Lynda P.
The cool atmosphere was about all this restaurant had to offer. It was by far the worst bbq I have ever had. The mac and cheese tasted like cleaning fluid. It was WAY over priced for what you get. We will never eat here again.
(1)Beth L.
Bought the Jumbo Sample Platter. Was told it could feed 3 people. Along with a sampling of the various barbecue meat, the serving included a small ear of corn, 2 slices of bread and 3 sides of our choice. The meat sample was chicken, pork, spare ribs, baby back rib, sausage and brisket. I believe my portion was the pork and brisket. It was delicious! The meat was enough for 3 but the sides serving were too small and not enough for 3 people. Our sides were beans, collard greens and potato salad. All good but don't expect to get more than a fork full if u plan to share with 3 people. The ambiance is very interesting, fascinating! The staff are friendly. The bartender referred to me as baby when I asked for a lime. Sat outside, flies were definitely a problem when the food arrived. There is an outside stage for bands. Definitely worth a visit!
(4)Lori H.
Stopped in over the weekend on the way to Gulf Shores. The ambiance and staff are fun. The food is OK-I cannot say it was bad but was not anything special. The pulled pork was tender but just lacked flavor. The sweet potato casserole was very tasty however and would order that again. Good place to check out just for the decor, music and a cold beer.
(3)Chad M.
Never been disappoint - slow cooked ribs and the meat platters will leave you stuffed. I'll be home soon - the holidays are around the corner.
(4)g l.
Overpriced and overrated. The concept of the decor is cool, but not enough to make me ignore the mediocre bbq chicken. One positive is that I tried their macaroni salad , which stated it was reviewed on Drive-ins and Diners food show--it was pretty good but still not enough. The band playing was terrible and too loud. I felt badly for the servers who had to yell people's names over the music to deliver their order to the table. We sat outside which was a mistake with the current temps in the area--the mosquitos were very hungry...wish I had offered them my sandwich so they would have stopped biting me. $22 for a bbq sandwich with 2 tiny sides and a soda = way overpriced!
(2)Scott L.
I don't normally get BBQ while on vacation as I generally get my fair share of it living in Texas. But after seeing this place on the Triple D I had to try it. Pulling up to the shed it really does look like a shack. Lots of random items all over the place. It has a funky but cool vibe. Very casual, I like it. You ordered at the front counter when you first walk in, the lady who took our order was very nice. Then get your drink and find a seat. When your order is ready they will bring it to your table. I ordered the shed combo plate. It comes with your choice of two meats and two sides. I chose the the pulled pork, brisket, sweet potato casserole and macaroni salad. I also added a side of greens. The pork and brisked were both pretty good. But the sides really shine. The sweet potato casserole and macaroni salad were both great. The greens were good as well. My only complaint would be that they don't have a fixins bar and it only comes with one pickle slice and one onion slice. Other than that everything was very good and I would definitely come back. Don't forget to check in with your yelp app. You will get buy one get one free on your drinks. The fresh brewed Ice tea is very good.

This was a drafted review I left to collect dust - but when I visited while at training in the Biloxi area I decided to give this place a try. I found that the sweet potato casserole was the best item on my plate. The coleslaw was pepper heavy, be prepared for that if you love a traditional mayo cole slaw. I found the pulled pork to be good, but nothing memorable like other BBQ places I've been to. The sauce helped the pork, but I had to stop eating because the sauce was so sickly sweet. I just felt like the sauce was supposed to carry the lackluster meat, and really, BBQ is about the combination of stand alone meat flavors and sauce. Personally, it didn't feel inviting, it felt more like this was just a road side attraction due to its popularity gained through DDD and their own show - which they were not shy in advertising about while ordering. Truthfully, I knew nothing about its TV fame before going, I was just looking for some BBQ and was sadly disappointed.
(2)Tresie W.
The food was good and the bartender was friendly and outgoing. The atmosphere was fun and appropriate for children.
(4)Steve R.
The staff needs to work on their listening skills. We live very close to this joint so we stop by about once a quarter. They are very consistent with not getting everything right. Sauce on the side, you say? Nah brah,, we are gonna put it on your food. Want banana pudding? Cool, we'll forget it. This gets old quickly and happens each time we visit. This place is expensive and their prices just went up. Skip The Shed and try Coops. We won't be back.
(2)Lin G.
If you are in the South, barbecue is a must. This joint is like eating inside a large barn-like warehouse, with pretty lights strung up, and everything made of corrugated metal. Ever since Katrina, I guess they felt that it would be better to just set up shop with simple materials, literally, a shed. I got the ribs and brisket combo. The brisket was kind of dry and not so great but I enjoyed the ribs. So maybe will just stick with that next time. Loved sweet potato casserole and they had corn on the cob. It's a bit pricey for what it is, maybe around $20, especially considering the shed like atmosphere eating on wooden picnic benches but still definitely a good time.
(3)Charles B.
If you are looking for a funky cool place for a little Q then this is it. Good selection of beer and decent bbq. Had pulled pork sammy with mac salad. Mac salad was very good. Pulled pork was a bit dry but tasty. Not a big fan of their bbq sauce. It seemed to have too much honey. Joint was clean and they played really good blues music. Fun place.
(3)Joe C.
You always get nervous when you recommend some place, right? Because if you tell someone it's awesome, and it is, well, you've done your job, so good on you. But if they don't like it, they're rejecting you, your values, and everything you hold dear. So when I recommended The Shed to a coworker, I was naturally a little nervous. He sends me an email a day or two after his trip, saying "Hey, found the Shed, really loved it ... here's a pic!" And it's a pic of him at The Shed ... on the stage ... playing bass with the band. I learned he had his guitar, had his food and beer, talked to the guys and next thing you know he was up there. This remains my first and only recommendation that turned into a gig, and it fits the casual atmosphere of this shack in the middle of the bayou with smoked, exceptional BBQ and a feel like no other. Biloxi remains the only place I've ever had someone pull a gun on me, but I'd still go back for this kind of BBQ and fun.
(5)Christopher C.
This place is all tv hype. The BBQ is mediocre at best and did not blow my socks off. The baked beans that came with my meal tasted better than the ribs. The service was lacking as well. I belive in southern hospitality but the shed was lacking that. We were never greeted when we walked in. And one of the staffers was staring at me to the point I started staring back with that WTF you face. In closing, I will not be coming back to this establishment. I'm positive I can find a better BBQ experience somewhere else in the gulf coast. 3 stars for the baked beans and nothing else.
(3)Thomas A.
Located 6 miles N. of I-10. After the drive, I was disappointed. I thought it was rather junky and old rather than funky. The chicken and the pork didn't really taste like true bar b q; more like cooked on a stove (or purchased) and sauce poured over. The sauce tasted like commercially available and not home made. The sides were OK but also appeared & tasted like "from the distributor". Inside was musty and outside was not neat. All I talked o were first-timers. I won't be back. Bar B q salad was bland. All portions were small for the price.
(2)Wadcutter ..
Wife and I had eaten here before. I think I had pulled pork last time. I remember it was pretty good. Nothing exception but OK. We figured if we were in the area again we might stop in but wouldn't go out of our way. This year we were back in the area with friends. They had seen the Shed on TV and wanted to go. When we pulled up and seeing the place they were ready to pass it by. My motto has been "Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed." We're here now, we're going in. We both got the meat sampler. Ours with baked beans, slaw, & potato salad. They got greens, sweet potato casserole & forget their 3rd. They proclaimed the greens & sweet potatoes were the best they'd had. Our potato salad & slaw were good. The beans were OK but warmed canned. Then to the meat. A container full. More than enough for the 2 of us. The chicken was OK. Not real big on smoked BBQ chicken but for what it is it was OK. Smoked sausage is not our first choice for meats but this was very good. Good smoke flavor, nicely seasoned and crispy casing. The pulled pork was as I remembered. Good. The brisket was well flavored and moist. Pretty good. Then there were the ribs. WOW. They were great. Fall off the bone great. Very moist. Good smoke but not over powering. Outstanding bark.

First and last visit. Dumpy place and some of the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. We ate at a table and our dinner was served to us in take out foam cartons with plastic forks. We had to ask for BBQ sauce which was not particularly good. The worst was the potato salad which was sour cream with a few potato chunks in it.... awful. Beans looked like they came out of a can. This was $14.
(1)Diane H.
Best BBQ in southern mississippi. Staff was great and food was awesome. Since it was our first time the lady at counter suggested we try the sampler platter because it had a little bit of everything on it. The pulled pork and beef brisket were my favorite. For our sides we had cole slaw, tater salad and mac n cheese which were all tasty compliments to our meats. Atmosphere and live music were an added bonus. Funky eclectic fun with tasty grub.
(5)Nathan A.
Very unique establishment, kind of a bar/cafe/ dirty carnival act hybrid motif going on. Food is priced about $4-5 above average from other BBQ places, but I do have to say the ribs were outstanding, sweet and moist. Portions are decent, you won't go away hungry. Service was fast & friendly, draft beer was fresh and cold. After you leave you kinda feel like you need to shower. But if ya cruise by and like the vibe on the outside than you'll love the inside. Food I would give a 3.5+ atmosphere as a restaurant a 2+, if your looking for a dive bar with character I would give it a 3+
(3)Lauren F.
Went here with my husband, mom and brother and we had a blast! We loved the atmosphere and since it was Saturday night they had a live band playing. So fun! Everything we had was delicious, but my favorite meat was the pulled pork. It was SO GOOD. All of the sides we had were good and I really don't think you could go wrong with any of them. The only thing I would have changed about the meal was to get the bbq sauce on the side. Oh, and next time I'll ask for extra pickles... YUM! Check in here and get buy one get one free drinks, to include draft beer! Win! They also had superb sweet tea. I can safely say that The Shed lived up to the hype :)
(4)Kimberly P.
All the food taste the same. Nothing special about this place I think they are getting by with their gimmick of a shed style restaurant.
(2)Jessie B.
Happened to be in MS, decided to make the drive down Hwy 53. Food is good, decor is abundant, and was well with the drive. It was a bit steep at $15 for a sandwich, fries, mac, and a pepsi, but it was tasty, so worth it!
(4)Soe S.
What a strange establishment. I have not seen anything quite like it. There is a lot to see. The ribs are to die for. I would go especially to this state to eat at the shed. Wonderful food.
(4)Chris S.
Best BBQ ever and so many things to see. It's literally a shack and can be chilly in the winter so wear your coat inside. Very cleverly decorated. Very nice staff! Friendly and fun.
(5)A L S.
I've eaten at the Shed several times hoping it would live up to its hype. Frankly, the only thing good about this place is the live music and the décor. The best Q here is the smoked wings. While not fantastic, they are tasty and not deep fried. The pulled pork is OK but I sure wouldn't write home about it. The beans are mediocre as well as are the other sides offered. But the banana pudding they are always giving away on the Text specials--forget about it. That is the nastiest processed garbage I have ever eaten. Seriously, you can keep it. Being a Southerner raised on Q, I crave good even half butt (pun inferred) BBQ, but every time I visit it is always longer between visits hoping it will get better. Apparently not. So go have an over priced Magnolia draft and catch some good blues when you can, but don't go for the food.
(1)Scott W.
Love the look of the restaurant, very authentic and original. I ordered the large Pulled Pork Sandwich platter, to go. I got the Sweet Potato Casserole and Coleslaw as my sides. The pulled pork sandwich was very flavorful and a bit juicy, some bites were a little bit drier than other parts. I typically prefer a lot of sauce on my pulled pork, but in this case, it had excellent flavor despite the lack of "extra" sauce. It also came with a large Onion slice and pickle slices. The sweet potato casserole was very good, and wasn't overly sweet like many other places make it. Wasn't the best I've had, but definitely in my top 5 favorites. Let me start by saying that I am not a big fan of coleslaw, but i have gotten into the habit of tasting coleslaw wherever I go. This coleslaw was very good, to the point that I ate the entire serving! As with the sweet potato casserole, not my favorite, but in my top 5. Overall, I would eat here again, and probably will do so every time I am in Gulfport.
(4)Thomas J.
The atmosphere is really awesome and the food is just as good (Best sweet potato casserole ever). My only complaint is that it was a little more expensive than I thought that it should be.
(4)Phillip O.
A must stop! It's off the interstate about 6 miles, but totally worth it. The food is excellent and decorum just perfect to set the mood for this place.
(4)Issac M.
This place is pretty cool. Random stuff everywhere! Food is good. Prices are decent. Portion sizes were legit. I'd go back for sure.
(4)Chris K.
The pulled pork is divine! Very soft and juicy, no hard pieces. Comparable to Whole Hog in AR /TX. Sauce is very good, not too spicy. Creamy potato salad is sour creme based and very good. Baked beans are solid. The platters are huge, enough to share for 2. Kids platters are cheap ($5) and perfect portions with a choice of healthier sides. The place is a bit divey. Not fancy at all. Sorta biker - jimmy buffet style with indoor ( more like "covered") and outdoor seating consisting mainly of picnic tables. Bathrooms are kitchy, have AC and are clean. Food is definitely worth the drive. Platters are about $10
(4)Coral E.
I LOVE pulled pork barbeque and this was some of the best - if not THE best - I've had. I was also talked into trying the wings - cause I'm not a wings person. They came out and smelled delicious and this was without any sauce on them. They were some of the best things I have ever eaten. Along with my pulled pork and wings I had their delicious macaroni salad and baked beans. My boyfriend raved over the sweet potato casserole recently added to the menu. I definitely recommend trying The Shed!
(5)Ruby W.
We stopped here with son & daughter n law while visiting them. They had been & said was a cool place & good food. Husband & I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the atmosphere & ambience & the ribs were delicious. Some other reviews complained it was a sketchy. If your looking for a place to be coddled & waited on, this is not the place, it's a BBQ joint. The decor & the buildings & the blues bands outside makes for the ambience. We are glad my son suggested it. The place was on Diners, drive ins & dives. We love it
(5)Eric D.
Side dishes are excellent but the meats are average if perhaps a bit dry - for BBQ this place is over hyped. It seems their real talent is for self marketing. Now my opinions are based primarily on their catering which is something not all restaurants can manage since you need to transport the food. Having recently visited them I can now add I do like the bar and the music. Bottom line is I enjoyed going for the entertainment more than for the food.
(3)Lan D.
This place passes itself off as a local staple, but having gone there now I kind of feel like it is a tourist trap. I say that because there are signs on the freeway that direct you there ("The Shed BBQ - 1000 yards ahead!) and the food is overpriced for what you get. No doubt the food is good, but it's nothing spectacular and definitely not worth the price. I got the sampler platter which comes with ribs, bbq chicken, your choice of three sides and some bread. My favorite parts of my meal were the ribs, the baked beans, and the bread (which has a really good consistency to it). The slaw was blah, the macaroni salad was mediocre, and the chicken was decent. But $20 only gets you a standard "to go"-box's worth of food (2lbs of meat, I'm told) I can't help feel some buyer's remorse. It's one of those places you go just so you can say you've been, but I don't know that I'd drive 15 miles out of my way (from Biloxi) like I did just to try it.
(3)Gregory N.
Out of the way shack in Mississippi, but worth going for the BBQ. This Yankee felt right at home among Confederates because it's all about the food. I'm a brisket guy, but I stuck to the ribs. Good choice.
(4)Billy B.
Ever heard of chicken butter? Well when you grab some of the BBQ chicken at the shed, you'll experience some chicken butter. I've never experienced a chicken breast cooked so well that it quite literally melts in your mouth the same way butter would. It'd be nice if the size of the sides were a bit larger, but it's more than forgivable when you get a healthy sized plate of meat dropped in front of you. Definitely plan on making the 2.5-3 hour drive to get some of this smokey goodness on a more regular basis now.
(5)Manny V.
The Shed in Gulfport, MS. is one of the best places to enjoy some real Southern BBQ. When my wife and I saw The Shed featured on Food TV's 'Diners, Drive-in's and Dives' we knew when we we're in New Orleans we would make it a point to stop by and try it for ourselves. After a 90 minute drive from New Orleans to Gulfport, MS....let me tell you it was well worth the trip! The outside of The Shed may not look like much, in fact, if you didn't know about the place in advance you may have dismissed it as a side of the road watering hole that just happens to serve food but if you do past it by your only doing yourself an injustice. The prices are about average for BBQ. A Rack of ribs will run you about $20 dollars. There ribs are fall off the bone tender, in fact, when you get served they don't bother giving you a knife because you don't need one. The Shed's ribs are amazing! Tender, juicy and they taste incredible. I've eaten BBQ all my life and this was some of the best BBQ I've ever had! Hand's down! You can also buy The Shed many custom blend BBQ sauces and rubs to take home and use on your own grill! So if your ever near Gulf port, MS don't forget to pig out at The Shed. You will not be sorry!
(4)Eric L.
Went there on a Saturday afternoon while passing by, so it was fairly quiet. Food was very tasty (pull pork and sweet potato fries), the good southern BBQ I was looking for. The decor and style definitely give The Shed a unique feel. Well worth the trip and the food. I'd imagine the live Blues would also be a lot of fun, but we weren't able to stay.

All of the meat taste the same. Its always over cooked and has this insanely sweet BBQ sauce on it. I'm not sure what all the hype is about, other than people love eating in crappy buildings.

I got the pulled pork, mac and cheese, and the macaroni salad. Ask for 2 rolls so you can make yourself a sandwich, otherwise the pulled pork just comes out with a fork. It was pretty good. The atmosphere can't be described. It was the craziest thing I've seen in a restaurant, that's for sure.

The name says it all, it literally is a shed. Corrugated aluminum panels make up much of the walls and patio awnings. Lots of random things everywhere, sorta resembles a junkyard. People have left messages and sayings on nearly every surface in the place; tables, walls, bathroom stalls, etc. Very cool atmosphere nonetheless. The food was very good. I was craving BBQ and it satisfied, along with the unique atmosphere. I had the BBQ chicken with creamy coleslaw and beans. The chicken was falling off the bone good. The coleslaw was just how I like it, not super thick creamy but just right. The beans were okay, nothing spectacular. I also had the Nana Pudding. I could have done without. It was a small cup of rich banana flavored pudding with a few cut bananas and topped with nilla wafers.

I stopped here while doing some work in Biloxi last april. It was worth the drive out of the way. I was there on a Tuesday at lunch time so it wasn't very busy. The surroundings are perfect for good simple BBQ. I had pulled pork with Mac and cheese and baked beans, all very good washed down with a sweet tea. Needless to say I was pretty excited to see I can buy their sauce in my local grocery in Pennsylvania. This is not the original shed that you may have seen on tv but it is owned by the same people and it isn't just another knock off location, just as funky as the one in ocean springs.

went back, w/ buddies, had brisket. still ok. but Buddies said you're an idiot this is good BBQ. last time I was there I had the baby back ribs. portion was too small. flavor good., but i guess because of the reviews I was expecting super duper good. Bartender lady was really nice, great hospitality. The sweet potato casserole, which is a seasonal side, should be a dessert and not a side. This was superlicious....yeah, super delicious. too bad too far for me to drive just for that, but i might. This place is really large, and must be a really happening place when they have music. oh and if you want to leave your "mark" everybody signs the tables.

A numbere of folks have tried to franchise barbecue and failed... thnk Famous Daves, Smokey Bones et al... The Shed BBQ may have found the formula: let the customers do the work. We visited their Gulfport location, now nearing its third birthday and second oldest in the southern bred chain. The original, nearing its 5th birtthday, is located not too far away in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Ramshackle is over-statement. No two chairs match, the tables include doors sans hinges placed on saw horses, and all; about customers have abandoned tools, toys, sports gear and more... including a wall with signed dollar bills stapled. We got the jumbo sampler: baby back and spare ribs, sausage, pulled pork, chicken and brisket along with a choice of two of their four sides. The meat literally falls off the bones, creating some concern that par boiling was used as a short cut. The meat has a deep rich flavor, the sauce is a thick molasses based and obviously sweet. No Brunswik stew/ The sweet tea borders on perfection. Good, probably better than just good, but not great and certainly more than enough for two people and reasonably priced given the quantity. Those who enjoy the mystique of barbecue would do well to visit The Shed (fans are called "shed heads") just for the experience ... it is, southern expreession, "a hoot" ... but if it's more than a littlee above average 'cue you're after, you may want to look elsewhere, The Brown Shoe Gourmet

Recently I had a work trip to the great city of Gulfport, MS. With that I immediately started my quest for the best food in town and after watching Diners, Driveins and Dives, I knew that The Shed was on my list to try. So I dragged my coworker 12 miles out from the chain restaurant row to venture out to the woods ffor some bbq. We got there and we were literally the only people there...no joke. I was surprised by that as I thought this place was going to be packed! So I ordered the chicken plate and my coworker got the baby back ribs plate. We sat down at a table of our choice and was so excited when our styrofoam box arrived at our table. But to my chagrin, the bbq was not what I envisioned for the last 12 miles. It was super sticky sweet! And let me just prefaced this by saying I am southern as they come (raised in the south, went to college at the best college football school (Go NOLES) in the south, and even come from the town where there is actually a Mullet Festival so I have some pedigree when it comes to bbq, okay?). So when I say it was sweet you know darn tootin' it was make your mouth pucker sweet! So luckily I got the sauce on the side but the chicken alone was quite sad...very meely and not what I was looking forward to. I got the mac salad and holy mayo it was goopey. The beans were pretty good but again, that sweet bbq sauce was still a bit too much. My coworker did not like her ribs. She said they were drenched in sauce and since it was so sweet she could barely eat them. They did fall off the bone but after getting a few cavitities you forget that part. So I left very disappointed. We had some great meals in Gulfport but this was not one of them. The ambiance was unique and we had plenty to look at but the food was not something I would recommend.

Close to my house and always leave full, this place is a must stop for those looking for some BBQ in North Gulfport. Their wings (***** stars) and sausage (***** stars) are the best and everything else isn't bad either. I love their mac salad (**** stars) just wish they had a yellow potato salad. They have done some remodeling to the outside seating area but all in all its a great place to grab some good ole comfort food!!!

Effing amazing... Nothing else to say!

I'm a frequent traveler to the Gulfport area, and the Shed is always on my list (at least, if I'm there more than just Monday night). I'm a big fan of the pulled-pork BBQ. Love the sweet-potato casserole and the beans, as well. The potato salad is also good, and the ribs are a hit, too, although I find that the taste-per-dollar ratio is well served with just a quarter pound pork sandwich plate. The decor is intentional - it looks like it was built up over decades of neglect, rather than just a few years of focused work - and creates a special unique atmosphere. Only complaint is that, unlike most BBQ restaurants I'm used to, they don't offer bottles of sauce on the table - you can pay extra for more sauce, but I haven't found it to be worth it.

All i have heard since i moved here is how good the shed was and thatbeing that i a BBQ enthusiast i just "had to go there"... so i did. when your walking up to this place you think to yourself... wow this is really a shed. the people that work there are very nice. but Honestly i was disappointed... the BBQ sauce was overly sweet. and the meats tasted like they were smoked then finished cooking in a pot of hot BBQ sauce. so sadly i will not be back. i gave them two stars only because of what two stars mean... ive experienced better. ****this shed sucked*** but the original Shed is good i give that one 4 stars
(2)John P.
first and foremost the design of the place is unique, its made of recycled goods or junk! A colleague and I went to this after receiving some recommendations while on a business trip to Biloxi. The drive from Biloxi to eat at the Shed was worth the trip, very delicious! Coming from the mid-atlantic region, you don't come across many barbecue joints like the shed!
(4)Elyse C.
Dont be fooled by the decor this place is fantastic. They have large portions and the food is really good, the manager even bought us a round for having just returned from deployment. I had the combo of pork and brisket . I got the side of mac an cheese as well as mac salad. The mac salad was so good! get it!

Now I was visiting Bay Saint Louis, MS and was wondering if there were any good Southern BBQ joints that were close by. Lo and behold, the Shed opened up a joint about a half hour away from where I was staying at. Now this place is called "The Shed" for a reason. They make it look like a tin shed (a rather enormous tin shed, but nevertheless, a tin shed). I order the Jumbo Sampler (22.99). This is basically a big order of two types of meats and two sides. Now I'm a BIG eater when it comes to BBQ, and that evening was no exception. The two meats that I chose were the baby back ribs and the beef brisket. I must admit, those baby back ribs were definitely smoked to perfection. I picked up a rib and was attempting to peel it off the half rack when the bone EASILY slipped out. I hoped you read that comment correctly...I meant EASILY. My buddy and I immediately looked at each other with a child-like glee (like opening up a Christmas gift and realizing that it was your most wanted toy). Man!!!! This is definitely the place to experience BBQ at a WHOLE nother level!!! Now I can go on: the beef brisket was like eating pulled-beef; the beans were sweet with a slight smokey flavor to it; the mac salad was different, but just as tasty. Now I don't normally give 5 stars, but once you've tasted the "Bar of Excellence" (of which all BBQ will now be judged), no other rating can justly be given. Now, they don't serve coffee, so bring your jacket when the temperature drops. Other than that, as my favorite Food Network chef would say...."Good Eats"
(5)Jeff G.
Surprisingly the sides are better than the meat. The coleslaw is well balanced without too much mayo and their take on potato salad with sliced new potatoes is a real revelation. Their meat however, particularly the pork, isn't sufficiently fatty to give that really nice rich taste I am looking for in BBQ. I suppose they use lean cuts and trim trim trim to satisfy a broad range of tastes, but when it's time for BBQ, you need to leave the diet at the door and have something REALLY satisfying.
(3)Billy And Kaila Y.
OMFG! This is some of the beat BBQ I have ever had.....its serious!
(5)Debbie H.
I have to say that BBQ is not my favorite yet; everytime I visit my daughter in Long Beach, MS, a trip to The Shed is a must. The ribs are delicious!!!!
(5)Rick M.
You might have heard of this diner, if you watch "The Food Network". The original one is located in Ocean Springs, MS. It was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It might look like a dive, but boy do they have good food. The interior design looks like it might have been done by a dumpster diver. The tables and chairs must have been donated by the Salvation Army. You have to walk up to a window to place your order and pick-up at another window. A waitress does bring your Styrofoam box of food to your table. She will holler out your name until she finds you. You are given a plastic dixie cup for the beverage of your choice. There are rolls of paper towels on every table and they bring moistened towelettes to you as well, YOU WILL NEED THEM. Try not to dress in your Sunday-go-to-meeting duds. You can dine outside also, when the temp is not exceeding "hell" on the thermometer or if they have a band playing on the stage. There is blues playing here 24-7. My wife and I got the sampler which came with a sampling of ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork and 3 sides of your choice. Both of us ate till full and I had leftovers for lunch. The sides were as good as the meats. I would suggest trying all of it. I think I am now a shedhed.

Awesome! Under new management finally! Best pulled pork in the south & for the sauce...give a straw!
(5)James S.
You will not leave hungry from The Shed. Don't be scared off by how the place looks. The brisket is outstanding! Everything is good here. Just close your eyes and pick!!
(4)Kim M.
I highly suggest stopping here if you're in the area. The bbq is soo good. I love the atmosphere. Staff has been very friendly and helpful. The lines can get really long so I don't suggest going during peak meal hours. It can be a little pricey for bbq.
(4)Mike M.
I had heard mixed reviews from co-workers on the quality of the BBQ here, but I love BBQ and, being new here, I am on the hunt for good places. I went here last week and admittedly was a bit underwhelmed. For the price I paid I don't feel I got my fair share of food...you don't get very much of the sides. As for the ribs I got...they were good but nothing to warrant some of the ratings I've heard on this place. I guess you have to really like sweet and "watery" sauce, because that is what you get here. I much prefer sauce with a little "kick" to it and meat that isn't so fatty. So far the best I've found is the pulled pork sandwich at Shaggy's. I'm still looking for a place with good ribs around here, though, so drop me a line if there is somewhere else I should try. Otherwise, Chili's is better than the Shed, and that's sad for the South.
(3)Summer T.
The best BBQ I've ever had! Great atmosphere is great and I loved the potato salad. So yummy!
(5)Alicia M.
This is one of my favorite places to eat. The newest location in Lyman is now the closest place to eat to my house. Even if it weren't it would still be a weekly must have for me. The first week it opened I ate there 3 times and loved it each time. The ribs are by far my favorite, St. Louis or Baby Back. I am normally a baby back only kind of person, but the St. Louis style at The Shed are just awesome! If it is your first time eating at The Shed I highly recommend the sampler. You get a little bit of everything, including 3 sides. Me, my husband, and our toddler split the sampler and still had leftovers. My favorite side is the Mac Salad. My husband's is the beans. My toddler's is the potato salad. All are YUM! As for the meats, in order from most favorite to least favorite.. Ribs Chicken Pulled Pork Brisket Sausage But even my least favorite will knock your socks off! I am certainly a Shed Head now and have the t-shirt to prove it. I've only been twice when there was a band playing (I usually go for lunch) and really enjoyed the funky blues sound. The music and atmosphere alone are worth going for.

We drove the hour+ to go to The Shed for my mom's birthday and I don't think we'll be making that drive again. While the sides and meat were incredibly tender, the meat was swimming in BBQ sauce so you couldn't really taste the meaty flavor. In addition, you did NOT get your money's worth. My husband and I shared their Shed Sampler plate which cost $25 and it was not very much for what you paid; BBQ is cheaper cuts of meat and what you got was definitely not worth the price. When my mom asked for a second slice of bread when the waitress came to ask if we needed anything she said yes, but it would be .50. Really?? It was weird enough that a simple small plastic cup for water cost .25 and it's not like they have a lot of overhead (you place your order and all the waitresses do is yell out your name and bring it to you if you're close to the order area. It just seemed like they're just nickel and diming people. It just seemed like a lot of hype. While the food itself wasn't bad, it was nothing to write home about. It was a Saturday night and there was no music other than what was playing over the sound system and while I know they were going for a more rustic feel, I practically rubbed my baby down with hand sanitizer after changing his diaper in the restroom because it was so gross.
(2)Wanda D.
The food was great and will return to the Resturant and loved the atmosphere.
(5)Ross L.
It is a decent place with decent BBQ honestly. It is not as good as some other places I have eaten. It is really high priced as well, not worth the money they ask for it!!!!
(3)A Tom M.
Nothing like the original one just a franchise knockoff. Who in their right mind chops up beef brisket like pulled pork. Overpriced without good bbq flavor. Come on guys you can do so much better.
(1)Jason C.
Good BBQ. Cool atmosphere. Not the cheapest though... The "Ocean Springs" location is the way to go though...just a nicer view (it's in a campground.)

After living in Austin, Texas for three years my parents finally took me to the shed. I had heard all about this place from friends and family alike and was elated to finally go. We went for an early dinner and happened to be happy hour. I decided to partake with 2 for 1 Southern Pecan drafts! For dinner i had a two meat combo with brisket and sausage with beans. The good, the beans were AMAZING! I swear those were some of the best beans i've ever had. Full of brown sugar and thick like molasses! The mediocre, being that i've lived in Austin for a while i've had all kinds of bbq. A lot of places make their own sausage or use Elgin sausage. This stuff seemed like hilshire farms. It was OK but, nothing great by any means. The bad, the brisket was weird. I'm used to sliced brisket, even Anjac's does it that way but, these guys serve it like pulled pork. That was somewhat unnerving to me. Overall, their meat tastes great and the beans are to die for. Can't wait to go back!
(4)Kris K.
I love The Shed! I prefer going to the original location off Exit 57 in Gautier just because it's the original but their food is amazing and if you want to see live footage go to foodnetwork.com and check Diners, Drive ins and Dive's because they were feature on it. I love their ribs with green beans and bacon and their creamy mac salad along side with either a barqs rootbeer in a bottle or a glass of sweet tea. I love the atmosphere and laid back vibe. I have been eating there since 2001 and it is delicious! A must try!
(4)Toby C.
This place is on my list of places to go every time I visit family and friends on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
(5)Melo M.
Not a bad place to hang out and watch a friend's band. The food took a long time to come out and the sauce was rather thick and heavy for my tastes. I tried the Sampler and I have def. had better, but they have beer!
(3)Jarrod S.
A poor experience overall. My family and I visited The Shed and I have to say, I should have just passed. The overall gimmick is cool, the decor is definitely hillbilly and it works...I guess. We initially greeted by a nice girl sitting behind the counter and she gave us menus and instructed up to find a table and order at the bar when we were ready. After ordering and signing the credit card receipt, I was told, "Thanks for the tip" in a very sarcastic manner. You see, I don't tip before I receive service and evidently this isn't the way they operate. I guess you should pre-pay for service at The Shed. The place was warm, I don't know if the lack of AC is part of the gimmick or if it was really broken. Thank goodness for the fans located above our table. The food's arrival was quick and presented well. The only problem was the actual food...The BBQ was just average, the beans were good and the potato salad was down right bad. This is one place that I suggest people just skip. Bad, bad, bad.
(2)Chrisi N.
Its been about 4 years since I have visit The Shed. I live in Texas and have always told people good things about it, well I have to say it was not at it best last night.. I order baby backs & brisket, the ribs we ok but the brisket was really nasty, it tasted like last weeks pot roast... over all I would like to see the heart go back into the shed it use to be so much better....
