Stevens BBQ is the perfect ma & pa place that a visitor must go to in the Delta. The staff is very friendly when you come in and there are plenty of items to choose from. I tried the large BBQ sandwich with slaw with a side order of tamales. Let me tell you, this sandwich was very large & loaded with juice that I looked like a goof trying to pick it up. You need a fork to eat this. The tamales were just OK, but in the end, I'd come here again when I visit Greenwood.

Had a jumbo with slaw on it and a side of three tamales. The sandwich was 'ok', but the pork roast didn't taste smokey. Not a big fan of their sauce either. Need some work. Then again, I'm spoiled on Memphis bbq. The highlight was the tamales. If I ever go back, I'll just get a half dozen tamales only. Pretty good stuff. Definitely homemade. Update: Got VERY sick at my stomach from the tamales. I will spare you the details.

The food is GREAT, especially the brisket sandwich with slaw and bbq sauce. The smokehouse burger is also really good. The hours stink and Steven will close this place for the opening of an envelope so call ahead to make sure they are open, even during regular business hours.

Driving through Greenwood looking for a place for lunch, I spotted Steven's and decided it was as good as the next to get a meal. Walking through the door, the decor leaves a lot to be desired. I expected to see blacks on one side and whites on another. This please could definitely use a makeover to bring it into the 21st century. The staff was friendly but seemed distracted, yet I questioned the order taker if the pork was pulled and received an immediate and vehement "yes!" in reply. So I ordered a large pork barbecue sandwich, with NO slaw and sauce on the side, with fries and a drink. I hadn't finished my getting my drink from the self serve station when someone in the kitchen yelled "order up!" and I saw my food sitting in the window, definitely NOT pulled pork...it was chopped. I personally despise chopped pork as it tastes like pork hamburger because it's generally chopped too fine. I sat down and the food arrived a few minutes later, surprisingly, and I dug in. The pork was cool, not cold but definitely not warm. The fries were cut from a potato but had been sitting for a while. The sauce was just *eh*, but that could be my preference for tomato-based sauce and the Delta has an affinity for vinegar-based sauces. I wouldn't recommend this site based upon this one visit but I could've been here on an off day. It filled a void and that's what mattered in the long run.

Stopped in here last Friday, when we were in town. We got there at lunch time and the place was busy. The staff there were very friendly and welcomed us as we walked in the door. We both got the lunch special, which included a meat of your choice, two sides, cornbread, a drink and a dessert of your choice, all for a very reasonable price. We both got the brisket, which was very tender and melt in your mouth good. There's a bottle of the house BBQ sauce(well balanced with a hint of heat) on each table so you can sauce it appropriately to your own needs. The fried okra was a bit cold, and chewy, and the greens were overcooked, but everything else was really good. I haven't eaten here in years, but it was as good as I remember it being.

This is a great diner style restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lunch buffet is particularly delicious. The mesquite grilled pork chops are the biggest you've ever seen (mouth watering too)!

Good southern food. Down home friendly staff. Happy to greet visitors. Filled with locals at lunchtime. Need I say more :-)
