Good Food. Terrible service. Out of a LOT of things on the menu (which they don't tell you about...they just sub something else). Work out the kinks and we'll be back.

Took my girlfriend to eat here and she got the red snapper and added crab meat and I got the rib eye. Everything was delicious and the price was fair. I believe the chef started AJ's Seafood Grille awhile back so there were some familiar dishes. I hope this place does well. I'll sure come back

The food here is amazing!! Good vibe all throughout and at a good price too. The service was just as good as the food. Great place to sit down and eat.

Outstanding food. Lunch was very affordable for g re at food. We eat here about every week now. These guys used to run AJ's. The food is simular but, again, the prices are much better. Check them out.

The Yelp reviews were solid, so I thought I'd check it out while in town. Its in an old fast food building. Cons - You seat yourself; smelled like a fish market; owner? walking around in jeans with a ripped t-shirt getting friendly with some local cougars. Pros - Well plated presentation; Emma provided friendly service; Crab cakes and Fried Green tomatoes were good. Indifferent - not a fan of the Latin music channel, but maybe you'd like it.

I honestly thought I would not be impressed (figured there were too few reviews or that they were fake) Boy was I wrong! This place was so delicious and fairly priced. We started with the fried green tomatoes with crab sauce (This New Orleans girl gives them an A+) I had the seafood pasta and it was perfect in every way... Just creamy enough but not so much that you were sickened by it. The boyfriend got the filet and we both concur it was better than some of the nicest steakhouses we have been to. Really.. Only $20...Incredible! Susan was our server and she was the sweetest. I will be back as soon as Im back in town. Flowood/Jackson people, you are lucky to have such a gem in the area. Cheers to yo Eslava's!

Eslava's, to me at least, is a Bistro - simple menu, mid grade plate offerings. The evening we went I had the Crawfish Pasta and my wife had the Grilled Shrimp with Potato's. For an appetizer we had the fried green tomato's topped with lump crab meat. Meals came with a side salad and fresh french bread, cut into rounds. Our waiter was a nice young fellow, the woman that was working ignored me and my wife, so we were glad we received him. I don't remember his name, but he was a tall slim hispanic fella, nice young man. We are regulars at Saigon across the street and they gave us coupons for free appetizers to Eslava's, so we didn't have to pay for appetizer. All in all, our meal with two sweet tea's, was right at $30 - which isn't bad to me, due to the quality of the meal we received. The owner/chef came to our table and checked on us, which shows he does care about his clientle. I liked, my wife liked and we will recommend to other foodies in the metro area. One other things I forgot to mention, they are BYOB - so can bring your own liqour and wine.

Visited for the first time on a Sat evening. Décor was simple yet clean and professional. Service was super. Appetizer was spinach dip, which I order at other places all the time. One of the cheapest appetizers they have at $9. The dip was fine, a little oily, but too small for the price -- essentially an appetizer for 1. I ordered the Snapper special for $28. It was a small, single piece of fish covered in lump crab with 3 shrimp. The sauce was a rich, butter/wine sauce that was very tasty but salty. Both the fish and shrimp were slightly overcooked. Sides were cubed potatoes that while tasty were a little oily. Also included was a very good medley of sliced squash and zucchini. I found the portion too small for the price. Also ordered was the seafood platter for $30. It was pretty much the same plate as above with the addition of 1 large scallop and 3 fried oysters. The total bill was $78 before tip with no liquor, no dessert. I could handle the price if the food was of slightly better quality and noticeable larger in portion. But as is, I can't justify returning.

I just wanted a quick lunch. Wow! I had just the fried green tomatoes with crab sauce. Great choice . It was enough for a meal. Good service. Clean surroundings. I always enjoying eating here.

I ordered the seafood pasta here New Years Eve to go. (see my photo) Took it home with a bottle of wine recommended to me from Vintage Wine Market. It was delicious! I'm a coastal girl so I know fresh seafood when I come across it. The dish was packed with flavor as well! I will become a regular for sure! Eslavas was recommended to me by a friend who also said they have the best steaks in town, which I must try soon!

Tonight was our first visit. Excellent food and service. Should become a local favorite with more word of mouth. We are definitely coming back. Good portions and fair pricing. None of that chain restaurant stuff. This place will not remain a secret for long!!

I took my (extremely picky) family here for dinner last night. First time for the all of us. The place had a weird smell. My brother and mother went with paint. I couldn't decide. There were two other tables seated when we came in. I had to take away a star because even though the waitress was very sweet, there was at least a ten minute wait to order drinks. The menus were pieces of paper that were stained and wrinkled and gross looking in general. I would think tea lemonade and water wouldn't take that long, but it was another 20 minutes to get the drinks. We asked for two minutes to decide our order after receiving the drinks. 15 minutes later we place order. Salads came and were nothing to write home about. The come back sauce was tasty. 10 minutes after salad, entrees arrive. My mother loved her NY Strip, which is so rare. My brother ordered the same and wasn't impressed. I chose the tilapia which was nice. I wouldn't order it again. There was nothing wrong with it, it tasted right. It's just the same as the tilapia I make. I think I will go back to try the Cajun pasta instead, it looked good. I asked for the bread pudding to go because there were so many rave reviews and I was tired of waiting. When she brought it back it was probably a half serving. She said it was cold so I get it for free. Didn't make a ton of sense but I am guessing there just wasn't a lot left. The taste was correct. It was good, but that is how it is supposed to be made. Overall the only problems I found were the waiting and the pricey menu. Other than that, I give a thumbs up.

Many people that I spoke with had only "heard" of this place. It's in an old fast food joint that they have turned in to a casual dining atmosphere. I heard the fish was good there. I walked in and it smelled a bit fishy which normally makes me want to turn around and leave a place. I am glad I didn't. I had the special fish which was grouper. If was lightly pan-seared and was cooked perfectly. It was topped with fried oysters which were average but the fact the fish was great overshadowed the oysters. The zucchini and squash that was served was great too. Not overlooked and still had a bite to it which I like. It came with the potatoes which were just fried potatoes. Didn't eat many but did try it. Overall I thought its reasonably priced and would go back. I don't many people know about this place.

First, I had the seafood pasta, which was good, but did not make up for the rest. My husband ordered the ribeye special. The regular ribeye on their menu is $20. The ribeye "special" was $30 and included seafood. What did we get for the $10 up charge you ask? 3 shrimp and 1 scallop. They were okay, but NOT worth $2.50 each. The steak was over salted, as were the potatoes. The vegetables were clearly out of a can. I did not see wine on the menu. I'm glad I didn't try and order it, because we soon clearly saw a box of Franzia wine in their cooler. Thanks, but no thanks on the boxed wine. Overall meal was very low quality and a very high price. Smelled like bleach water and fish. Latin music was quite loud. Will not return.

Food and service was great, but could do w/out the Mexican music playing loudly on their tv through Sirius! They must have an identity crisis.

This rating is an average of the two times I have been to Eslava's. The first time was 4.5, this one was 3.5 due to the lackluster service (details at the end). Eslava's is not a "steakhouse", but I will say that they serve some of the finest steaks in the Jackson metro, right up there with Tico's, Walker's, Shapley's, etc. I had a NY strip topped with their jumbo lump crab sauce on my first visit, and a ribeye last night, and both were absolutely delicious, and most importantly, perfectly cooked. If you order a steak medium rare at Eslava's, they accentuate the rare, which is exactly how I think it should be. If you are the type that likes a starter course I highly recommend the jumbo lump crab appetizer, which is a large portion of jumbo lump topped with chopped olives and creamy balsamic vinaigrette, served with lightly toasted bread. For someone who does not really like olives (actually I very much dislike them) this combo sounds interesting at best, but it is absolutely DELICIOUS. I wish we would have gotten it last night, but instead we went with the fried green tomatoes. They were very good, but it is hard to beat a large helping of fresh jumbo lump. In regards to the poor service... when I go out to eat service is not my #1 concern, but when I wait 15 minutes for a waiter to take my drink order that is just ridiculous. There were only two waiters on duty last night, so they were understaffed, but not to the point where I should have waited that long before getting water. Luckily for them I knew the food was very good, otherwise we would have left. All that being said, once you do place an order you do not have to wait long to receive your food. Final thought - Eslava's is VERY reasonably priced for the quality of the food that they serve, and we will definitely be going back. Another nice perk is the BYOB wine policy (they do serve beer). I believe they have a corking fee, but for some reason we have not been charged on either visit.

Eslava's Grill is one of the best deals in town. If you are looking for high quality food that is loaded with flavor for a fair price, you have found your place. You might recognize several menu items from the original A.J.'s menu. I think I have found my new favorite restaurant in Jackson.

I ordered from here for takeout. I waited about an hour before I had a chance to eat it and was still pleased! I had the cajun crawfish pasta. Everything was delicious! My salad had comeback dressing and I couldn't ask for a happier way to start a meal.

Went for my friends birthday and all the food was really good . We ordered the crabcake appetizers , very tasty although not colossal in size as stated on the menu , the fried green tomato appetizer was awesome. For my meal I ordered the fried oysters, they were perfect and the tartar sauce was great. Two people ordered the seafood pasta and loved it , one ordered the crawfish pasta, and another the blackened tilapia . Everyone agreed the food was great , even the side salad . I will definetly go back .

Ate here tonight, amazing food, amazing service, everyone was super friendly, and prices were very reasonable. Danny Eslava cooked everything to perfection, and came by the table to ask how it all was. Next time you are on Lakeland go and see Danny and try his seafood, you will not regret it.
