Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Came here for lunch on Sunday, it was a great choice! We tried the salsa bar, it had about 4 different salsas- which were all very good. I had the combo fajitas with chicken and steak. The fajitas were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. Can't wait to come back and try the margaritas.

We stopped by here leaving the Casinos and fell in love with this place. I'm a mexican eater and this is a great establishment. There is nothing like this in Mobile. I would travel a ways just to eat here! So good!

If I could give more stars I would! Always seated quick, always fresh food, and always served within a half hour! Great Mexican restaurant! Highly recommended!

Friendly and speedy service! Chips and Salsa delicious! My meal was superb! Great Mexican restaurant!

Love the chipotle cream!! The waiter had a great sense of humor and wonderful customer service! The best Mexican food I've had outside of San Diego!

The food is a solid three stars. Edible, flavorful, and priced right BUT you don't get generous portions, the plating is inconsistent (not every plate comes with rice and beans which is not exactly identified on the menu), and there are no seconds on chips. Our waitress was overwhelmed either by the number of customers she had to attend to or the job itself. We identified ourselves as new to the area, yet she never mentioned the "salsa bar". Although she came by several times to see how we were doing, there was no specific questions to elicit our need for say additional chips or salsa. The margaritas were drinkable but not extraordinary or even ordinary. Despite requesting no salt, they were served salted. The lime slices were juicy however which added some flavor to the drink. There was certainly enough alcohol. I had the four enchiladas plate. Not enough enchilada sauce and would have preferred beans and rice to lettuce and sour cream. The chips and salsa were great, especially the salsa which was hot and spicy. Since we didn't know about the salsa bar, I cannot comment on that.

OMW, this place is fantastic! The chips and salsa are some of the best I have ever had in my life. The service is prompt and friendly, and the food is good. This establishment definitely knows what it's doing. If you are anywhere in the area, I recommend you come here.

My favorite new Mexican restaurant! Came here the other day with my sister for lunch. I enjoyed the food and the wonderful service. Will be coming back again soon.
(5)Deana H.
The salsa was amazing! Would recommend trying the Bosque burrito if you like burritos. The service was very friendly. The only thing that I didn't like was the margaritas served in small wine glasses. 2-1 but it's really the size of one margarita. The salsa was amazing! Love the cheese dip, I ordered the Toluca , which is filled with different varieties of meats and omg to die for! Everything from fajitas to burritos are Delishhhh! The desserts are also delicious! My personal favorite is the strawberry and cream!!! Yummy! Just order it! They margaritas are great and the sangria is perfect! Please try, it'll be your favorite go to Mexican!

The food and service are wonderful! Just found this place and am back for a second time this week! Thanks AJ for such great service and a very sweet smile!

Great food! Awesome drink specials and most of all GREAT prices and no long wait times!

GREAT...I repeat, great Mexican food here on the gulf coast! I had the taco dinner plate which was four tacos, 2 al pastor (marinated pork) and 2 asada (steak) Both meats were perfectly marinated and grilled. Not salty and not full of gristle, good choice of meats. You get the meat piled high with the corn tortillas and build your own tacos. Mine were stuffed with the side of beans, cilantro and chopped onion that come with the dish in addition to the meat. Now people, don't expect some taco bell crap, this is legitimate Mexican food which has a lot more depth in the flavor of the food! So do yourself and your taste buds favor and try it out:-) Also, I went on a Friday night and they had 2 for 1 margaritas! Great food and great drinks...You know I'll be back :-) big shout out to Jose, the owners father which was very hospitable and invited my friend and I back. This is obviously a business that is family run with pride. It shows in the food they serve and in the great service they provide.

I have lived in Mississippi for a while and am always on the hunt for some good Mexican food. I have never been to Mexico or the southwest, so I am no expert on authentic Mexican food, but Pepe's is the best that I have found on the coast. They have a nice little seating area outside and plenty of seating inside. They have a little salsa bar if that's your kind of thing. The margaritas are cheap and decent, so I usually order a few. The salsa and cheese dip are good and everything that I have ordered has been well seasoned and well cooked. Pretty good overall and service is usually on point.

My wife and I were in Biloxi for a week and looking for some good tex-mex. This place is amazing. Generous quantity, great quality, and cheap. The chips and salsa were fresh. Best salsa in the south, but be warned we like hot salsa. My wife got the chicken enchiladas and I tried to finish the California burrito on special. No complaints on either option. We will make a detour to return if traveling near the area.
(5)Jessica W.
Pretty decent Mexican food. Always enjoy the free chips and salsa, including the salsa bar! We have enjoyed everything we've gotten there, but I especially enjoy the chicken taco salad with grilled veggies. You really don't need dressing. Took one star away because service is usually a bit slow.
(4)Mike G.
Food was decent, service was very good. Our meals showed up in less than 4 minutes, so they certainly make full use of microwaves. Nothing great here, but not bad either. Quick and easy stop for lunch.
(3)MrsVen T.
Best Sangria and Carne Asada in Mississippi! Great family business with so much to offer! I will drive an hour just to come here! Fast service, great atmosphere and phenomenal food! Truly a gem! I had the California burrito smothered with queso and the meat and flavor was just like home! Fresh cilantro and vegetables topped the dish off to perfection! Loved it!
(5)Me W.
Not bad be sure you understand what your ordering as not all food comes out as described in menu. They a daily special most are good. Service good. Will return for a second try.
(3)Mallory L.
Had the California burrito today and it was incredible! Homeade salsa and chips to start and a side of guacamole that also seemed homeade. Lively setting and good portions. Had the biggest craving for Mexican and it hit the spot. Almost ate the entire plate. Definitely would return! Great server too.
(4)Lauren F.
I loved the chips and salsa here, especially with the salsa bar where you could mix your own delicious concoction. They also have killer margarita specials (2 for one! And they're cheap to begin with!) Basically this place is already winning in my book, I could eat chips and salsa and drink a couple margies and be totally satisfied. BONUS, the food was super yummy, and there was a lot of variety. It was so hard to choose what to order. Pepe's is killing it! My only complaint was that the atmosphere is kinda lacking, but for delicious, inexpensive Mexican food five minutes from my apartment? I'll deal.
(4)Bobby B.
The food was OK but nothing spectacular as far as flavors. Sorry, I was disappointed after seeing 6 reviews with 6 stars. Service was very good. Salsa was also just ok. The torn seats in Booth had no affect on my rating. Wish the food had more flavors We had the Chicken quesadillas fajitas off regular menu $9.95
(3)Darron K.
This is now our favorite Mexican restaurant! The service is very good and the food is always fresh and delicious. The chips are warm and the salsa is very tasty, spicy, but not overwhelming. For those who like to get a good burn, there is a pepper bar where jalapenos, habeneros, salsas and creamy dips are available. We recently ordered mango Margueritas that were delicious!
(5)Dave W.
Was good. Kinda ghetto but that kinda shit doesn't bother me. I grew up in the Bay Area I love funky. If it's good. This place meeeeh it's ok. Will I be back? You paying? & by the way all these reviews about chips & salsa. Seriously. WTF. They better have decent chips & salsa because the food is sub-par @ best.
(3)Robin G.
Fantastic food! They also have a reward program where if you get 250 points, you get $25 off next purchase! That with a 10% military, cop, firefighter discount.... Love this place!
(5)Jean-Daniel V.
In Biloxi for work and looked this place up. Decided to go based on the reviews and we weren't disappointed. My burrito was the size of the plate and delicious. My wife is vegetarian and ordered a taco salad "hold the meat" and they added in grilled vegetables without her asking them to. They even made me a horchata drink that was not on the menu.
(4)Alicia K.
I recently moved to the South from San Diego so you know I'm missing my mexican food. This place was good and well priced. My husband and I ordered the chicken quesadila, ribeye with shrimp. horchata and cheese dip and it was less then $30. I will say that the steak was chewy and lacked flavor but it was $13 so dont complain lol. The cheese dip was delish and the horchata was good It wasn't San Diego food but it will do
(4)Jessey A.
Just awesome. I got the Mississippi favorita (crawfish enchiladas!) SUPERB! Incredibly fast service and worth the price with $1.95 margaritas on saturdays and thursdays. So good I just wrote my first review!!! Highly recommend!
(5)Scott A.
Hands down the best mexican food on the coast. Not the same old junk. Everything is good. Seriously, I have never been let down. The California burrito is out of this world. Anything from tacos and quesadillas to fajitas. Really no point in listing what's good. It's all good. And cheap. And did I mention EVERYTHING is good. Now I'm hungry.
(5)James K.
Pepe's is a legit representation of California style Mexican food that has crept over the border straight from Mexico. I had the classic rolled carne asada tacos with fresh onions, piles of cilantro, limes and jalapenos. Pepe's boasts two of the staples of a good Mexican joint, cheep Mexican beer and free chips and salsa. The salsa is fresh and spicy, well complimented by the warm, crispy chips. Always a good sign... We ate at the bar.. and were rewarded when the owner Pepe rolled by and poured us some complimentary shots of his fine tequila.. the fine agave nectar of the gods. The draft beers are only served in giant mugs... and it should be noted that Friday happy hour they are only 2.50. This spot comes with my highest recommendation.
(5)Stephanie W.
Just moved here 3 months ago and so far this is our favorite mexican restaurant. Love the chips & salsa, food choices, and military discount!
(5)Viviana N.
Agree with all the reviews here. Food was good service was good. Worth the deviation from I-10 not far anyways. Had taco salad and while the bowl looks small it was all full of meat which was good!
(5)Monique G.
Been going to another Mexican place for years. Found this gem and it's amazing!!! This good is too good! The only reason I won't give 5 stars is their salsa. It's way too spicy to enjoy. If I could take the old Mexican restaurant's salsa here- it would be the best meal ever.
(4)Larry S.
Best Mexican on the coast! If you like Mexican food in Colorado, Texas, or Arizona; this is the most like that in the area.
(4)Heidi F.
I don't even know where to start....absolutely EVERYTHING was delicious and the service was fantastic!!!! I had a steak and chicken burrito with all the fixings with white queso cheese sauce.....It was delectable!!!!
(5)NM R.
This is a really great Mexican joint. We chanced on it during our vacation. I am used to going to chains, but this was a really authentic experience. Great salsa and chips. My son and I ordered fajitas. The best I have had! My wife had the chile relleno: very authentic. Prices are very affordable: half of what you would expect to pay. Great ambiance. I never write reviews, but thought this place deserved to be highlighted.
(5)Michael C.
Great food great atmosphere better prices! Always a top pick when it's lunch time. The dip bar is great. Love to smother some of the chipotle and habanero sauce onto the burritos. LS9 the bosque burrito will fill you up! Make sure to get it grilled for the added flavor.
(5)Chris B.
You can always get something delicious at Pepe's El Bosque. The large menu offers a wide variety of Mexican dishes. The salsa is always freshly made, the cheese dip is great and the guacamole is just the best! One if my favorites is the Parilla for Two (a sizzling combination of chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas). It is served with blackened shrimp skewers. Yum! I absolutely love the margaritas as they offer many flavors and a couple of freshly squeezed signature ones. My favorite is the regular margarita on the rocks. The nice surprise is the lightly battered fried shrimp plate. As a local I can say this is the best fried shrimp on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Perfection! And for dessert let me highly recommend the fried ice cream. These folks add a personal touch to every dish they prepare. You are treated like family so come as you are - you'll be back.
(5)Barry E.
I have been here many many times. I have yet to be disappointed. This was a special visit. My parents were with us and again Pepe's came through. The service was great the salsa was good and so were the other "dips" on the salsa cart - so I call it. Everyone praised their meals and for my mom to not have a complaint is saying something. Oh wait she did complain - there was too much! M son talked me into having the Jalapeno Chicken (Can't remember the exact name) is was very good. The things I suggest for them: Tables are kind of small, the legs are in the way, get tables with one leg in the center, you need more room and a child free section. Usually lots of children being allowed to run around but rude parents.
(4)Lindsay W.
It looks and feels like an average Mexican restaurant, but the food is actually more than average. They have a large, and extensive menu which includes authentic Mexican tacos. Any of the items on the menu (specifically the enchiladas, tacos, burritos, flautas, etc.) can be filled with steak instead of the chicken or ground beef for just a $1 extra. The chips and salsa are free with every meal, and the chips come out hot. The salsa is a bit bland, but the queso dip is very good if you want to pay the little bit extra for it. There is something for everyone on the menu, and more than enough to keep a curious person busy trying a new item each time.
(4)Michelle A.
The best Mexican restaurant we've been to in the area...and we've tried a bunch! Mexican is our favorite! My Husband got the California burrito, it was HUGE...filled up the entire plate! The prices were spot on as well, such a great value for the amount and quality of food we received! We will be repeat customers for sure!
(5)Mary N.
One of the better mexican restaurants that I have been to. I ordered the taco beef salad and it was decent enough. Nothing special, the taco bowl was a bit stale. Beef was seasoned well. The first bowl of salsa is free but anymore after that they charge you $1.50. Didn't have to wait long on the food to come but our waiter wasn't clear on what the special was. Overall, it's a good place for mexican. I only gave 3 star because the service and food was okay.
(3)Misty M.
We don't have that many Mexican restaurants around. The ones that we do have is the same two but they have way too many locations. Pepe's is the best one around! I had the chicken fajita burrito and three beef tacos. It was really good! Fresh and yummy!
(4)J P.
Poorly seasoned, steak sitting in a pool of juice (water) and tortillas (separately) so wet you can't hold them. Do yourself a favor: skip this place. Not eating at all would've been better.
(1)Ben R.
Not only is PePe's THE best Mexican Restaurant on the Gulf Coast, it is one of the best outside of Mexico. The service is always great and the owner is always there to greet you with a smile. I am a taco fanatic and have been hard-pressed to find a better taco than the Cecina. The salsa bar is a nice feature and the Chipotle Cream is a nice addition to pretty much anything you order!
(5)Mariah D.
In my travels in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, I ate in many small beachside restaurants sourcing their food from local fishermen who fish the nearby Gulf of Mexico. Sound familiar? That's because this exact situation could be happening in the Biloxi area. I think a locally sourced Mexican seafood restaurant could work here -- deep fried whole fish, ceviche, fresh gulf shrimp fajita style, fish tacos, etc. As it is, Pepe's is not taking inspiration from local sources or actual Mexico. This seems to be a diluted version of Tex-Mex. They put "cheese sauce" on everything. I assume they do this to moisten the unfresh tortillas, the dry rice and the overcooked meat. In Texas, we have a glorious thing called queso, but this cheese sauce was not suited to be called queso. The red salsa that came with the chips was actually decent and had some spice. The refried beans weren't bad either. My mom and I split the Old Mexico platter, and I was happy we did, because I wouldn't have wanted any more of this food. It wasn't bad overall, just really boring, and Mexican food (or any of it's spinoffs) should be anything but boring.
(3)Orlando L.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! The service is quick and the menu is extensive. They have daily food specials as well as daily drink specials. Like most Mexican restaurants, once you are seated you are served with chips and salsa. I have always received chips that were warm and never stale. The tomato based salsa is fresh and has a little spicy kick to it. There is an ample amount of seating inside as well as seating outside. I recommend this joint..... its good!
(4)Juanita E.
FYI: this restaurant is one of the few decent places in the Biloxi area with outdoor seating sufficient enough for the whole family, doggie included. I'm not going to get into why this has suddenly become an important factor in my dining choice, but let's just say that traveling with a carsick, anxious pooch ain't no fiesta
(4)Malyeah S.
The food was amazing. AJ was our waiter and he did a great job. The environment calm and I will definitely be back!
(5)Vinn N.
Yumm! Love this place! Had Pepe's Volcano #58. Its a serving for two but it could have fed one more! Love all the meats and grilled veggies. My sister had the beef taco salad and enjoyed it too! Definitely come here if you like/love Tex-Mex.
