I think Corinth MS is the place most restaurants come to eventually die. This Huddle House, at one time, was a great place to eat. She had quick, friendly service, clean interior, and good food could be found any hour of the day. Of course, that was when she first arrived in town. She was all clean, friendly and your go-to place for a good breakfast. Now, she has let herself go. She stopped caring about her looks and even neglecting her general hygiene. I have popped in for a visit around lunch a few times. I find napkins and food on the floors and several tables piled high with dirty dishes, and no customers sitting. She has gotten lazy, not even mustering a weak acknowledgment of me when I walk in. I have had to go to the counter to place my order more than once, even though a couple of her waitresses saw me enter and sit. She has passed through owners' hands a few times. The current owner doesn't like to spend money on her or show her off, proudly, like her other owners. She is showing her age a bit. Some young blood has moved into town, Cracker Barrel is giving her some competetion. The quality of the food has dropped drastically with the new owner. The owner just keeps buying cheap, low-quality items that have very little taste. 'Slinging hash' use to be a term of endearment for a diner on the highway. A sign of good food, if you will. No one seems to take pride in 'slinging hash' anymore, but appear more content with 'slinging slop' because it seems to work. Like I said, I think the Huddle House is one of the many restaurants that came here to die. She is on her way, losing customers, gaining competetion and a lack of self pride are all signs of her slowly giving up. I just wish she could have had an offspring or two, such as, Denny's, Bluebird Cafe or even a truck stop. To Each Their Own. Update: the health inspection report came out and this place failed ( C in food is a failure, but not so bad as to close the business ) C's * Corinth: Huddle House #469 Update:The quality is improving a little, as of 4-12-15. But, I still only come in when I have coupons.
