It is truly great to see some new blood. Post Katrina restaurants that are original and specialize to serve locals as well as visitors without being associated with a casino have been rare. The Reef has been open since about 2012 and I expected it to have devolved into a slacker beach drinkers bar. But I was actually impressed by some of the decor. And the clientele was a nice mix of families, couples dating, military trainees eating out as a group. It's got some "sports bar" qualities with some big screen TV's about, however.... and this is where they lose a full star and a half... the NOISE level. Granted, there were several large parties but they weren't much louder than any small group tables. And there's no overbearing background music drowning out people speaking. But the acoustics and sound reflections itself were so loud I couldn't hear the people at my table! Now the food was better than I expected. They have some nice local seafood focus and a pretty good variety. Not everything is fried, but there is too much fried selections, but they will prepare some entrees with broiled seafood instead of fried. Seafood Mac & Cheese looked great. They need more broiled specials or on the menu. I would highly suggest avoiding the Lobster "appetizer" w/ Tortilla chips. It was some pseudo-purée dip, that had no lobster appearance or taste. Caramel Cheesecake was excellent. I plan to try the Key Lime Pie next time. And I will be back. I figure when the weather is cooler there is outdoor seating overlooking the Sound that will be pleasant and much less noisy. Big suggestion: Tiki Bar... Artisanal Cocktails HUGE PLUS: Local Artist Marty Wilson has several of his original paintings adorning the space. And he's doing a large Ocean mural on the Hwy 90 facing façade.

The Reef Biloxi is a nice restaurant bar located in front of Biloxi Beach. I absolutely had an *amazing time* here from beginning to end and definitely recommend this spot for wining and dining! Upon coming in I was quoted a 30 minute wait for a table, or otherwise there was seating available out on the patio however rain was expected to come shortly and they stated they could not have us sit inside if that happens. Whatever the case, my group took the risk and opted to sit outside for quicker dining and of course the gulf coast view. It ended up being okay because the rain did pass by towards the end of dinner, but was luckily on the lighter side and was short and sweet so it didn't affect the outdoor dining we had opted for. My server on Saturday night was Brittany and she was a sweetie with excellent service! She definitely gave a great impression of warm, Southern hospitality. Dinner started off with drinks, as I opted for The Hurricane which kicked off my night and this cocktail was made perfect. Next, I had appetizers with honey bbq chicken wings and tuna dip. The wings were amazing full of flavor and the smoked tuna dip was addicting! Then for my entree I ordered the half order of the ROYAL REEF SHRIMP POT which came with Royal Reds boiled the Reef way with red skin potatoes, corn, and sausage. This order was perfect and a great recommendation from Brittany. The flavor of the shrimp juice at the bottom of my basket was delectable and the shrimp pot came with a butter dipping sauce. I also tried some of the seafood platter, and alligator sausage. The seafood platter had a nice spice, and I loved the fried batter. The alligator sausage was pretty good for my first time trying it had a nice spicy flavor and an interesting texture as I was over-analyzing what I was chewing on. DELICIOUS food, fabulous service, and gulf coast views.. this Seafood Restaurant was a highlight of my Biloxi trip!

I was in Biloxi for a work trip, and my group of eight colleagues and I were looking for a place to grab dinner near our hotel. (The Hampton Inn on Beach Blvd.) The Reef showed up first in all our searches, so we gave it a shot and we weren't disappointed! Though we had a pretty big group, they were able to seat us right away on a Friday night which was awesome! The hostesses and servers were all very friendly and helpful. Our server was so nice and very patient with our group. I know how annoying large groups can be, but he handled it really well! The food was your standard Gulf Coast, popular restaurant fare. Lots of friend seafood, catches of the day, shellfish, etc. Everyone at our table was blown away by how HUGE the portions were. Seriously-- we could have ordered half as much food and probably still had leftovers. I'm not complaining about having too much food, but I am warning you. The dishes are VERY large. I ordered the catch of the day, which was a grilled snapper. It came with bok choy and a sweet potato hash. There was a buttery sauce on everything that was just a bit too heavy for my taste, but the flavors still shone through and I really enjoyed my meal! Our whole table ordered cocktails, and everyone was pleased with them. I ordered some sort of rum runner drink and it was delicious Not too sweet, with a good amount of rum, which is what I was looking for! The roof of the restaurant was a full bar, with music and tons of people. My coworkers are all a bit older than me and we had an early morning the next day, so we didn't get a chance to hit up the rooftop bar, but I'd be very interested to hang out there next time I'm in town. It looked so fun to drink on a rooftop, looking out over the gulf and listening to the waves crash. The restaurant itself is really large and it's decorated in a very "coastal" theme-- think anchors, lifesavers, sailboats, etc. It's cute! This is not a little hole-in-the-wall place. It's definitely on the touristy side. I mean, it's just down the road from all the casinos so that should clue you in. But, it's a good place where you can grab a meal and some drinks with a group right on the beach while you're in town!

Reliable but standard seafood place in the gulf south: same as hundreds of others. The location draws a big crowd and the view on the beach is fantastic, as was our server Dolly. They also were super happy fantastic to substitute dish on my Maui (I think--it had pineapple on it) sandwich instead of chicken. It was good, but I probably should've asked for grilled mahi mahi instead of going with the catfish. All of the staff was great and multiple different members checked on us & cleaned away finished items immediately. Downside is the lack of spices in the sauces. Along with the sandwich, we ordered the royal red shrimp appetizer, and the sauce had ZERO flavor. It was just a rendered combo of oil/butter with only a hint of taste, and I'm talking not just a lack of crab boil but a lack of even salt. I'm glad I didn't spring for any other boiled seafood since we put in our order before the appetizer arrived. Easily would bump up my star rating to 4-5 if they added the right amount of crab boil/seafood seasoning. I think the manager & chefs should do a taste test to make sure they redeem this aspect of the menu. I'd also like to suggest offering chicken vs. fish options on all the sandwiches too, since it's a quick & easy thing to do--plus fish usually has a slight upcharge so hey, there's my +$2 suggestion.

Food was pretty decent, but not great. Some good beers on tap. Sat outside on the deck. That was cool until someone poured their drink (hope that's what it was) over the balcony of the bar on top. Finally moved to the center of the deck when someone puked over the railing..... Was asked if everything was alright, but not offered a discount or meal. Was given a dessert for free. Took it to go... Got home and no utensils. Obviously, I would give this a one star rating, but have to assume this is a rarity. The food and view is actually good. But this experience was, obviously, very far below par.

In short, I would go back. There essentially is nothing to complain about with the exception of the oysters, maybe. They were on the smaller side and a bit heavy on the toppings, quite thoroughly covering any taste to the oyster itself. The fish and shrimp were both on spot, and we tried it in several forms ( see photos). The atmosphere and view were spectacular, and the gumbo was on point. The waitress seemed a bit tired, possibly nearing the end of her shift in a busy restaurant, but we were able to break her out of her shell and we left without complaints on the service either. Unfortunately, the women will miss out on the keg urinals, but they are pretty cool as far as urinals go!
(4)Jordan P.
Loved the selection of seafood this restaurant had to offer. Our group started with the Chargrilled Oysters.. I'd have to say that was my favorite part! I ordered the seafood Mac and cheese and it was very tasty. I did not like that the veggie side dish was mainly zucchini and squash. It ended up being texturally unpleasant and I did not care for it. Service was so-so.. Definitely good enough to go back again.
(4)Brett B.
I'm a local and I just assumed this place was geared towards tourist so I hadn't eaten there yet. Today the weather as on point so figured if nothing else we'd have a nice view. So pleasantly surprised at the entire dining experience, the waiter, the price, the portions, the taste and of course the view were all excellent.
(5)Joseph F.
Best Fish Tacos on the coast!!! And Gumbo! Very relaxing! Stop in and try it. You won't be disappointed
(5)Charli P.
Last Tuesday, I was treated to a business lunch at The Reef! The first thing you notice is the spectacular view. The restaurant is literally "on the Gulf". The raised restaurant (second floor) overlooks the water! We started with the Tuna Dip & chips. This is a must have if you like tuna! I had the Mahi Fish Tacos and enjoyed them so much. You are served two large tacos and delicious chips & salsa! I will definitely go back again soon! Also, the owner was there greeting all the tables, making certain that everyone was happy! I appreciate the personal touch. Also the wait staff was great!
(5)Chesty L.
A variety of drinks and fish, I can't complain. Actually I can, it was a bit much for what it was worth, but that may be due to the fact it is on the beach. Its can be good or bad, but it's usually alright
(3)Natasha K.
Awesome food and drinks, love this place! The Hurricanes are fantastic! Also be sure to try whatever special they have that day for entrees. There's a lot of seating inside and outside right on the gulf.
(5)Orlando L.
The Reef is located on the south side of Beach Blvd, which means panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico off the back decks. On the second floor there is a bar loaded with big screen tvs, and a restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. Checkout the ceiling fans above while your eating they are pretty cool. I can't speak for the women's restroom but the men's has the most unique urinals, most important they are always clean and has the no touch dyson hand dryers. On the third floor is an open floor bar with flat screen tvs, pool tables, a stage for live music or DJs, and again the perfect view of the Gulf. During the colder months, this opened area is covered with clear plastic and several propane heaters are setup to keep warm. I believe there is an elevator on the west side of the property as well. As for as the food, I went safe and ordered the basic burger that came with fries. My wife ordered a cup of gumbo and the mahi mahi tacos. She didn't care much for the gumbo but she devoured the tacos. All in all it was good. It's a great place to hang out with friends. It will only get better as summer approaches. Enjoy!!
(4)Eric R.
We went in for dinner we ordered the boudain balls appetizer. It was not bad but when the main course showed up that's when everything went down hill. The gumbo was room temperature and tasted like it came from a Campbell's can. The boiled shrimp had no flavor and some were falling apart and had almost like a paste texture. The seafood Mac and cheese was just ok, it doesn't seem the kitchen uses any kind of spices on their food. Our waitress was friendly so there is i E good thing to say I guess.
(1)Jennifer P.
Such a fun place! We had a bigger party so we hung out in the Bar area upstairs until our table was ready- what a great time to relax and hang out with friends! We were then seated at our table and served such great food! This was a good experience- I highly recommend stopping by The Reef!
(4)Dave M.
Decent food and nice view but frustrated with the price/service. We went here because we were looking for some food and drinks by the ocean but wanted to get some sort of happy hour deal if we could. We called ahead and asked about drink specials and she said "Weekdays from 3-6 it's half off all drinks except bottled beer." We immediately went to check this place out. We asked our server about happy hour once we were there and she said there wasn't any. I said, Oh I called about it and someone said there was. She went in to check with the bartender and instead of it being half off as the hostess had been informing people it was just a dollar off. That makes a little bit of a difference if you've ordered an 8 dollar beverage. The food seemed appetizing but the cheese "sauce" on the Pig Kahuna nachos eventually made me feel a little weird. Too nacho-sauce-tangy-stuff and not enough cheese-y. Also, we got our food fast. Probably too fast. Overpriced perhaps. Our server was not very helpful when it came to the drink thing and she couldn't provide a list of the beers they have on tap (which are a lot, but maybe they could at least have a chalkboard or something).
(3)Tanja K.
Standard beach restaurant. Food ok and drinks weak. Lot of fried selections. Heavy on the batter. Not a lot of spice. Everything was fairly bland
(2)Kevin Y.
Started my review and forgot to finish but here it goes. Picked this from Yelp as I was looking for a place on the beach, wanted some BEACH food- ( albeit it was 36 degrees and raining)- but made a good choice. My waitress was fantastic and for the life of me while I write this can't remember her name- but she was pregnant with her 5th kid so management- she was a fantastic representative for your business!!!! I got a tuna tataki appetizer almost raw- had a rasberry shiracha that was great so nursed that a while. I had the bartender make me a PAIN KILLER- had to google it for them for the recipe but it was perfect - just like in the Islands... !! So good I had 3 and should have stopped at 2..... Was waiting for a colleague who never showed up-- so then got a catfish sandwich and it was very tasty. Different batter- but good none the less. I noticed a very local crowd here...many were elderly but know that if the locals come, they come for a reason. Good value and again, great service. Thanks for a nice long lunch guys.....
(4)Greta A.
I went on my lunch hour from work and had a great experience. The menu has a good variety for you to choose from. There's quite a few dishes I would like to try. This time I had the shrimp and grits for an appetizer and the burger. Both were fantastic. The shrimp and grits is definitely enough for 2 people to share. I highly recommend doing that because it is rich in taste. The view of the beach is fantastic and the bar on the top floor looks like it would be a blast to hang out after work and have a few cocktails. Normally if I find one thing I like at a restaurant that is what I stick with. I will go back and try a variety of things on the menu at this one.
(4)Barry B.
Location location. Lots to offer. Came to the coast for seafood. Got the sampler. It was all fried?!? Didn't say anything in the menu about this. Friend got mahi mahi and veggies. Looked good. Live band at 3. Overall 4 stars. Come for the party drinks and view.
(4)Raegon S.
I love this place. The fried boudin balls are amazing and the seafood pasta is to die for. Service is always great and you can't beat the view. I would recommend it to everyone.
(5)Ricardo S.
It was ok but i didn't really get blown away by the food and it was pricier than it tasted
(3)Jesse S.
Fish tacos. Just order them. The fish was the size of a steak. Sauce and added flavors were fantastic. More of an upscale feel than Shaggy's next door but the food is worth it for an evening out.
(5)Crystal S.
The atmosphere gets an A+, and the food was ok. I had the gumbo with alligator sausage. I really wanted it to be good but the truth is I cook better gumbo. My mom had the shrimp basket. The shrimp were large and there were several. This is a fairly new place located on the beach.. the view is outstanding, and there are windows that are around the entire building that open up. Balcony located outside with the beach within walking distance, amazing!! Overall good experience, ill try something different next time!

Review update! For happy hours drinks and apps this place is loud and fun. The tuna dip was tasty and the oysters are big! Suggest you come for apps or lunch. I'm staying at 3 stars for dinner. The dinner is over-priced for my taste. We started with a bowl of gumbo. It took awhile to get it but it was warm and yummy. We had the Ahi-tuna dish and the Crusted Redfish special. The Ahi tuna was really good but the veggies that came with it were cold. They were out of Redfish and substituted Mahi Mahi which is great! The crust had a great mix of spices but the fish was overlooked and chewy. We came on a Thursday at 7pm so it was very crowded. The waiter blamed the crowd, the bartender and the kitchen for the slow service. I don't know if they realize how unhappy our waiter is. -------- Three stars for a beautiful building and views! We had the Firecracker bang shrimp as an appetizer. Unfortunately it fizzled. There was no bang! Ordered the Mahi Mahi grilled fish tacos. They didn't look appetizing when they came to the table. If the fish was Mahi Mahi then they got come bad cuts. It actually tasted like Swai. The seasoning on the fish was really good. The restaurant hasn't been open long. I think they are still working out their food and service.
(3)Jessica R.
Love it! This is the only restaurant that has several dishes I'd like to try! I'm a very simple gal. I always try one dish at a restaurant. If I like it, I get the same thing every time. I know, I'm boring, but I do NOT like to switch it up. Here, there are so many yummy sounding items, I'm open to try new things! The first time we came, I chose the beach bird. I'll be honest, I didn't know what they meant by "New Orleans style bbq sauce." It wasn't at all what I expected, but it didn't disappoint! The chicken was juicy and delicious served on top of rice and the "BBQ sauce" complimented it well. I substituted potatoes for the veggies and they were wonderful. The sweet tea is also really good and that is important! On our second trip, we tried the fried wickles. I was hesitant to try them. I'm used to places using pickle "chips" for fried pickles. The spears were different, but yummy regardless. I will say I didn't care for the Dijon dip, I prefer ranch. For my entree, I decided to come out of my (very small, picky) comfort zone and try the luau pig sandwich (minus onion tangles. I was feeling adventurous, but I do know I don't care for onions!) Oh. My. Goodness. Amazing! I was SO pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was STACKED and I really wasn't sure how I was going to tackle it. It was so good though, I made it work! The pork was great, the pineapple added this delightful, sweet touch and the coleslaw completed it. I was so happy with my choice! I absolutely look forward to going back and trying more new things! I would give 10 stars out of 5 if Yelp would let me!
(5)Roger S.
Mr Stinson has done it again, Another great place to eat here on the Gulf of Mexico. The Food was Very Good, Great service and Great atmosphere. Will be back and tell everyone about it. Roger & Penny
(5)Misty M.
My 4 yr old son and I eat here tonight on our date night. We had a great table outside on the deck in the corner with a wonderful view! I had the fish tacos and he had chicken tenders. Both were really good! This was my second time eating here and both times I had the same thing. Best fish tacos ever! Tuna dip is really good too! Great kid menu and large selection. Everything on it is just $5!
(5)Chris H.
My wife wanted seafood for her birthday. I read some other reviews of The Reef and decided to give it a go. A must try is the smoked tuna dip...it's incredible!!! The service was fast, and friendly!!!
(5)Nate J.
Great service and great food!! Super fresh and really quick. Our server was really personable and helpful with the menu options. Mahi Fish Tacos were great!
(5)Sarah C.
I live about 2 hours north of Biloxi. Came down for a concert and decided to get dinner before the show. We wanted an inexpensive restaurant, they get an A++ in that department! I got the Mac Daddy Roni. It was fabulous. Macaroni with shrimp and crawfish tails swimming in cheesy goodness! They didn't skimp on the shrimp. They didn't skimp on the crawfish. And they definitely didn't skimp on the cheese sauce!! They gave a great portion, almost too much! Very satisfying!! The Mac Daddy Roni came with a side of sautéed squash and zucchini. It was a very good side dish for a rich creamy main dish. It was perfectly salted with just the right amount of garlic. A couple of the pieces needed to be cooked a little more but that's a very minor issue to an overall great meal. The service was also great. We were seated as soon as we walked in and our waitress was there to take our drink orders within seconds. Our waitress's name was Marianne! She was very knowledgeable in the menu. She answered all the questions we had. The decor was beautiful. It was a modern beach theme and they pulled it off well. It was very clean and peaceful. Overall a great experience and money well spent!
(5)Yu S.
The same blonde waitress at the bar tries to serve us wearing short shorts every time we come here....I don't mind. ^_^ The food is consistently good. There's a nice view since it's right next to the water. There's a bar on the third floor too. I recommend the alligator sausage. Seafood is a pretty safe investment. The tuna dip is good, although I'm not a big fan of tuna dip. After you finish your meal, they'll give you an extra drink in a to-go cup!
(4)Kenyatta G.
Great food and awesome service. Try the tuna dip yum. I ate the whole thing by myself. It was so delicious. Next time in town we will come back. Great sea food
(5)Jennifer B.
This place is not vegetarian friendly!!! Only "vegetarian" entree option on the menu is Alfredo pasta (not healthy). Waitress said no one over the age of 12 was allowed to order off the kids menu (which at other places has vegetarian options). Shaggy's next door will have the chef make something vegetarian when I eat there. Will not be back to The Reef.
(1)Alyssa H.
The food here was amazing, especially for being open for 6 months. But the managing on the other hand was not amazing. We had been driving all day and wanted some good seafood but also somewhere that would accommodate an allergy. They did not. My father and sister both have celiac disease in which they cannot have wheat. The manager neglected to substitute pasta for rice. I just think it is kind of rude especially when someone is willing to pay $25 for a meal. But the waitress was fantastic on handling the situation. The manager on the other hand was not. I suggest not coming here if you have an allergy.
(2)S A.
So far the champ of Biloxi beach row restraints. Food is better than the others, staff is better, the place is clean and your not fumed to death by cigarette smoke. The only on we will go back to.
(4)Victoria A.
Food is amazing especially the tuna dip, raw oysters and the roast beef and gravy po boy! Our waitress was super nice and awesome! The sky bar upstairs is fun, has pool tables, bands most nights and the bartenders are friendly and make great drinks! Can't wait to go back!! I could eat and drink here everyday!
(5)Nicole P.
Great location and scenery. It took a seriously long time to get our appetizer and food. We got several items. The smoked Ahi tuna dip appetizer was pretty good. The shrimp and grit cake appetizer was awful- had a weird taste and the soupy shrimp stuff around the grit cake tastes like breakfast gravy. I was completely unimpressed with the Mac and cheese- even though it looked so good in pictures. My daughter ate about 3 bites and was done. The service was just ok... Never asked to take up empty dishes of appetizers- after several times of waking by and seeing it loaded with trash. I might come back just for drinks in the skybar upstairs, but will skip the meal next time.
(2)Gustavo C.
Order the shrimp and alligator grits and the firecracker shrimp tacos they are fantastic. Service is excellent, drinks are good
(5)Donald P.
Nice view of the Biloxi shore from the upper deck bar. We each had a glass of KJ Chardonnay there before heading downstairs for dinner, where a glass of the same wine is $1 more. I ordered the shrimp basket. Instead of the large and tasty shrimp I'd had at Shaggy's next door the night before, I was served tiny popcorn shrimp, which were not tasty at all. Fries were bland. My wife's mahi was so overcooked it was inedible. When she brought the check, our server ignored the uneaten mahi. And she forgot to bring my side salad. Two stars for the view. One star for the food.
(2)Jessica W.
My family and I enjoyed this place. It was really good food- I had a very good burger and the fried pickles were yummy. It was a tad pricey for the food, and the service was a bit slow or else I would've given it another star.
(3)Dan A.
Tasty food and decent selection of both food and beer. This place is better overall than the better known next door neighbor Shaggy's. You are paying a premium for a view, which is fine unless, of course, it happens to be dark out.
(4)Noell C.
Food was ok. Got the grouper special topped with lobster. They over cooked the grouper. Lots of the sauce on the plate almost too much. Tried the lobster dip appetizer, nothing special. Probably wouldn't go back.
(2)Michael M.
First time ever coming here, and I will say I WILL be back, the food was really good, service was impeccable, and the establishment itself was vibrant and full of life with a amazing view.
(5)Paco V.
I really enjoyed the view from the deck. Fire cracker shrimp are a must as are the shrimp and alligator quesadillas. The Mac and cheese is delicious and look forward to return soon!!
(5)Robin G.
Was not impressed. Firecracker shrimp lacked the firecracker. Gumbo was ok. And the seafood platter was missing flavor. The stuffed crab was an extremely tiny crab shell that was smaller than the fork. There were only 3 oysters and the hush puppies had no flavor. Won't be back.
(2)Cherry D.
We ordered a dozen raw oysters, mahi mahi fish tacos, and oyster po'boy. The raw oysters were huge! $15 mkt price for a dozen is a really good price. The fish tacos were delicious, comes with flour tortillas. The oysters in the po'boy were perfectly deep fried. We sat at the bar and got a couple of drinks. Bartenders were really nice and the service was good. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. We will definitely come back.
(4)Ashley E.
The view was amazing! We sat on the 3rd floor getting drinks while waiting for a table, it was a fun atmosphere, great music and wonderful breeze. The bartenders and overall service upstairs was great! The hour wait flew by, but when we got inside to eat is where the not so greatness happened. There were about 20 of us shoved into 3 maybe 4 tables, there wasn't room for a highchair for any of our kids so they had to sit in our laps. It was beyond hot, almost like someone turned off the air... and in biloxi heat that just makes it worse! The food and our server were great, but I think they could improve on their seating arrangements.
(4)Tina D.
2nd time I've been to the bar at the top of the reef ...and the 2nd time the service has sucked. ..service sucked and the drinks sucked and overpriced...sorry reef you got me twice ...there won't be a 3rd ..
(1)Vicki E.
I must say I am very disappointed. Service was not so hot. The food was also not so good. I had the Alfredo Pasta with shrimp and it was terrible. The server delivered three bowls of pasta and no parmesan cheese. Waited 10 minutes for our server to surface so we could ask for some and he brought this tiny little black cut half full to the table. A couple in our party had the seafood platter and said it was ok. It's a great atmosphere and the bar upstairs is the best part about this place. I would recommend you try once to judge for yourself. Tad bit pricy for the bad service and minimal food.
(1)Renee T.
This place was great! Great food, great atmosphere and great service! We had a group of 9 and had no problems with our order. Portions were large. The large outside patio seating is great too. We will definitely be back and definitely recommend.
(5)Lauren S.
started our 'linner' meal with fried pickles (spears) and smoked tuna spread, which were both yummy. sweet tea was southern style and kept filled. entrees were fish tacos, Maui wowie grilled chicken sandwich, and luau pig sandwiches, which were all messy and delicious. the kids had fried shrimp and cheeseburger. atmosphere was lively and a bit loud, and the bathroom was clean. our server keisha was friendly and attentive. would recommend.
(5)Kathleen G.
I'm from North Carolina. I grew up going to the beaches on the outer bankst. I've been living in Biloxi for two months now and this place doesn't even begin to compare to the east coast. But right when I walked into The Reef, I felt right at home. The atmosphere is totally "beachy." The restaurant is clean and the decorations are really cool. My husband was obsessed with the ceiling fans. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. I believe his name was Chase but I could be mistaken. We ordered the shrimp and alligator quesadilla to start. It was so good! I've never had alligator before but I really enjoyed it. It was in a sausage form so I'm not sure if it was mixed with any other animal like most sausages are. The cheese sauce in the quesadilla was delicious also. It had a little zing to it with peppers and chilis mixed in. For the entree I ordered the Mac Daddy Roni - Mac and cheese with shrimp and crawfish. I absolutely loved the mac and cheese. They give you a HUGE portion. And it actually comes with a good amount of shrimp/crawfish, too. Literally, seafood in every bite. I've been craving it for the past few weeks since I first had it. I can't wait to go back just to get it. I'm pretty sure they used the same cheese sauce in both the quesadilla and the mac and cheese. Probably why I loved both dishes! The reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because I could see the vein in a few of my shrimp and I'm just very picky about that. To me, a seafood restaurant should be able to clean their produce properly. The dish also came with sauteed veggies - squash and zucchini. I normally love those veggies but I wasn't a huge fan of these. My husband ordered the seafood platter. Again, a TON of seafood. However, it's all fried. So there's really no variety. I mean, it was all good. But nothing you couldn't get anywhere else. The french fries were really good, too. I ended up eating half of them off my husband's plate. Check out their facebook page. They're always posting the "catch of the day" and it always looks so yummy. All in all, great restaurant. Great service, great food.

Great service and great food! Portions are decent for price. Beautiful view. For not being open long, the staff seems to have their act together. Mahi fish tacos 5 stars!!!

Dolly was our server. She was very personable. She kept our glasses full and had full knowledge of what was offered on the menu. We WILL return.

What a fun place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. We had a great lunch (flounder & gumbo) and then headed up to the "Sky Bar" for some great live Blues.
(5)Jonathan H.
Absolutely amazing experience! Dolly was great! Had 1/2 dozen raw oysters 1/2 of the bacon and paper jack chz charbroiled oysters, the Mac dad roni and shrimp Alfredo then the salted Carmel cheesecake for dessert was very very yummy

Great seafood restaurant on the beach. Best dish is the boiled shrimp Royal Reds (very deep sea shrimp). You would swear you are eating lobster. Only place in town I have found them. Must try!!
(5)Brooke A.
The view is fantastic, but the food is aggressively mediocre with a high price. I recommend coming for cocktails, but not a meal.

We explored the reef last night and found wonderful treasures: Mac Daddy Roni was outstanding, as was the Combo Platter. Great atmosphere and Leah(Tina) our waitress was awesome. Everyone should ask for Leah.

Just chose The Reef out of the blue to watch the Memphis Grizzlies playoff game. I went to the third floor open air bar and sat for 20 minutes while every bartender walked past without saying hello or asking if I needed anything to drink. Two people came up next to me, were asked if they needed the same thing and was serviced. The gentleman next to me me mentioned "I don't think they can see you", even though I was white a Grizzlies cap and gray Grizzlies t-shirt. After I informed the gentleman that I worked for a large liquor company and planned on buying a lot of shots, he advised that I shouldn't waste my time it I can't get service. I agreed with him and left. A rule of thumb when working in the service industry is always greet and say hello to everyone especially people that are seated at your bar for 20 minutes WITHOUT a glass or drink in front of them.

Excellent food and service. Sat outside on second floor outdoor patio over looking the Gulf which was great. I ordered the seafood pasta (shrimp, crawfish and alligator sausage) in Monica sauce. I'm a big fan a Crawfish Monica from the Jazz Fest and while it isn't as good, it's still pretty damn good!! I will be back!

GREAT Location and friendly staff...(kind of a cross between Hooter's and any tourist trap aside the beach that you've ever been in, but I did liked it). I'm a big fan of fried pickles, but I do have a "refined" palate, if you will. Most of the time, I'm disappointed when I order them but NOT HERE, BABY! If you like fried pickles, you MUST try their FRIED WICKLES, aka fried pickle spears. THEYrrr're GREAT! :D The SMOKED TUNA DIP ain't no joke, either. It's served with corn chips here and I prefer crackers but it's still great. I'm sure there are other things on the menu, but I can't QUITE get past the appetizers just yet...but with pickles THIS good, I'm cool with just ordering appetizers. :D

The staff are very pleasant and attentive to their tables. The service was extremely slow for a weeknight meal. I had to fish tacos with grilled mahi-mahi and I have to saythey were pretty bad. There was no flavor to the over cooked fish, they were drenched in some kind of liquid and had a slaw that had no taste as well. The Boudin balls were tasteless. I was very disappointed With this cute little new restaurant on the beach. The two stars are for the servers.

My first time coming to The Reef after so many people raving about it. Was it worth it? No. I ordered the firecracker shrimp, pig kahuna nacho and the macaroni entree. The shrimp was good. Nacho was eh but the Mac n cheese with crawfish and shrimp was NOT good. The only good thing was the firecracker shrimp and our server AJ. He was very friendly and took care of us. He handle my complaint about the Mac and cheese very well. I will be giving the reef another try because AJ did recommend us trying the bar upstairs.

Food was good view is better. Very noisey could not hear each other talk. Price was reasonable. Lots of food on your plate.

I have eaten at The Reef, at both The Sky Bar and the restaurant. First the restaurant. I am a big fan of The Blind Tiger in Bay Saint Louis and saw that The Reef also had a fish sandwich (what I usually get at TBT) so I decided to try it so I could do a direct comparison. The sandwich was not great, but it wasn't bad either, it just WAS. The fries that I got were pretty tasty. On to The Sky Bar. I have been to The Sky Bar a few times. They have some of my favorite bartenders Toby and Jordan. When it's packed drinks can take a little bit of time, but nothing too crazy. I tried the fried macaroni and it is run of the mill pre-packaged and they just deep fry it. The view is very nice overlooking the beach. Also Kidd Kahuna DJs there and he can really get the crowd going.

The smoked Tuna dip.... Yum.... Best thing I ever had as an appetizer. Tuna was perfectly prepared on our entrée. Also the firecracker shrimp was very tasty. The only reason I took away a star was the shrimp on my Po-boy was over cooked and our server was not very helpful explaining the menu. Prices were decent and the view was super great!
(4)Charles B.
New place on the beach. Food was ok and not great. Good selection of draft beer but they were out of several selections. Service was excellent. Go there for the view and keep your culinary expectations in check.

Best seafood restaurant on the coast, excellent service, spectacular food, and immersive atmosphere. No reason to venture any farther or look up alternative seafood joints, this is where it's at!
(5)Amber S.
We had lunch, which was so yummy and quick! We got the fish tacos and shrimp and crawfish Mac n cheese. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection! There's a huge selection of draft beer, which was served ice cold! Yum! The service was EXCELLENT! I highly recommend trying this place!
(5)Carla F.
This meal was fabulous! Shared oysters (both kinds) shrimp and alligator quesadilla and the seafood platter. Every last bite was by far the best!
(5)Steve P.
One of my favorite local restaurants, especially for lunch on a sunny day. Great views of the coast and an open light filled dining room. Excellent service-friendly people who remember your name and preferences. I love the fish. Lunch portions are 8 ounces plus and perfectly cooked. I prefer the grilled mahi mahi and flounder. Always good!
(5)Kelvin R.
I pulled up and noticed Shaggys parking lot was empty and this one was full so I decided to give it a try. The gumbo is awesome with alligator sausage in it, fish tacos were good with the right amount of spice, and the smoked tuna dip was very good. Definitely will be coming back.
(4)Rebekah A.
The food here is excellent. The outdoor seating area has great ambience. I've had very good luck with the staff and I've been happy with every meal I've eaten here. I can highly recommend the tuna dip, the mahi mahi, the Royal Reds and the comeback shrimp, but I have no doubt that everything on that menu is delicious. I try to get in this place at least twice a month for a great meal and a relaxing atmosphere whether it be by myself or with a friend.
(5)Brandy S.
Great food and had awesome service. We tried the daily specials grouper sliders and BBQ shrimp it was great and the view is spectacular
(5)Ashley E.
The food was good. The boudin balls and fish tacos were very tasty. It had rained the night before and the hostess said we couldn't sit outside because it was wet. We looked over at Shaggy's next door and lots of people were sitting outside! Looks like all she had to do was wipe the tables off. That was really disappointing but our server was really nice.

Missing Back Bay Seafood, we were looking for a substitute in Biloxi. The Reef opened and replaced our old favourite place. All Rob Stinson places are top notch. The food was very good! So good that you'll wait for at the min 15 minutes. But, well worth the wait. I just wish they gad the supreme sauce there. :) very happy with the Reef. Lived here 53 years
(5)Jennifer E.
My friend got the seafood platter $21 (which could have fed two) and I got the fish tacos $10 substituting mahi for +$5, appetizer fried wickles $6...plus our adult beverages came to just over $60, kinda pricey for lunch. The food and waitstaff was good, but I'd rather pay that price at a not-so-touristy spot. Nice place to visit, but probably won't be back.
(3)Virginia F.
Excellent food, fantastic atmosphere, excellent service. The roast beef Po boy melts in your mouth. The smoked tuna appetizer was very flavorful. The mahi-mahi with steamed vegetables entrée was delectable. The mahi-mahi fish tacos were fantastic and full of flavor. After dinner head to the third-floor for a live band and mixologists Who are very accommodating, helpful and very creative when you're indecisive about a cocktail. Fun, upbeat and lively atmosphere. Highly recommend going here at least once. I will definitely be returning. Very clean. And the bathrooms sparkled. need a break from the music just step outside on the deck overlooking the gulf. Great View! Plenty of parking. Reasonably priced. Can't climb the stairs? No worries the elevator will take you up to the second and third floors. Love this place.
(5)Amy N.
Great service and the seafood gumbo was awesome! I also had the mahi mahi fish taco, it was a little sweet for my taste but good. Great atmosphere too!

The food was decent, our server was great, the management needs to work on their customer service skills. While dinning outside in the second floor, a customer above us tossed down a lit cigarette and landed between my husbands back and his chair. I just so happened to be looking when it happened and yelled for him to get up. He had a burn through his shirt. Within a few minutes a few more lit cigarette came down nearly hit other customers on the deck. We shouted and another customer went upstairs to talk to the manager. My husband also went upstairs and watched two guys lean over the rail, aim and drop yet another lit cigarette down. Management did not come out to check on us. A little while later I see my husband inside talking to someone and I went to see what what's going on. After talking to the manager, who did apologize and assure us that security was watching, she gave us our bill with nothing removed or discounted. I talked to a different manager, a man, and he took the bill. When it was returned to us they had taken off the drinks, $40 worth. I again spoke with the manager and asked her if she felt that if she was in our shoes, would she feel that was an acceptable remedy. She would not answer me. It wasn't until my husband called the police that she agreed to take care of our bill and not before making me feel like a I was being unreasonable for wanting to feel like they were concerned for our safety and welfare. I was calm and rational, I never raised my voice and yet she said, "mama you need to remain calm" (I was) and "you don't need to talk to me like that" when I asked if she felt like she would be happy with her attempt to rectify the situation. Having worked in restaurants in the past, comping a meal was a no-brainer. Apparently that is not the case at The Reef and considering they have been in business for 9 months. Customer retention is not high on the list - of course as a Michigander they may not be concerned about maintaining my business.

The Reef is an excellent place to eat! New and A/C ! The sweet tea is excellent, seafood is just a bit spicy but what do you expect on bayou! The seafood platter is very generous on the portions its enough for two.

My husband, son, and I came here for lunch, slightly skeptical because a it is a brand new restaurant. Man was it good! Our server Jessica was very friendly and my little boy fell in love. We started with the smoked tuna dip, then my son had the Grilled Fish and veggies, my husband the smoked salmon over rice with a cream cheese jalapeño and crawfish mousse, and I the grilled mahi tacos. All the food was delicious! I also had the donkey punch hurricane to drink and my husband had their house beer, the Reef Biloxi Rock. Mine was nothing special, but my husband enjoyed his beer, a unique brown ale with a underlying citrus flavor. The decor is nice, and the patio (where we sat) was beautiful. Their Sky Bar upstairs looks pretty awesome too, with a small stage, DJ booth, TVs, and pool tables. We're moving in two weeks and are sad they weren't here earlier! Hopefully we can squeeze in some more meals here, I can't wait to go back!

I went the first week it was open. The food was not great and it took about 10 minutes before anyone came by to get our drink order. I got the seafood pasta and it was extremely "fishy" and in my opinion way over priced for what it is. It does not have the say laid back charm as Shaggy's does. I know it is brand new and it will take some time for it to build some character like other beach properties but I was not yet impressed. I have heard that it is a really cool place to get drinks at night though. They have a sky bar that I think i would check out but I will not be back for the food.

Stayed next door in the South Beach Hotel, so the 3 minute walk made it very convenient. I like their floor plan with the high ceilings and open feel. Very nice ambiance. Actually, the only bad thing about ambiance was the choice of Christmas music. I'm all for Christmas music in December, but I don't need to hear the best of the Chipmunks followed by the most annoying version of "The 12 days of Christmas" I've ever heard in my life. Not going to dock them for that, lol. My wife and I both had the reef salad, hers with Mahi, mine with fried shrimp ($12 each + $3 for the seafood). Both salads were very good, as were the dressings. Server was very nice and personable, made sure waters were full at all times, etc. Had no problem paying $15 for each salad since I felt seafood met expectations. I would recommend.

The food and the view is the best part. Management really sicks there and it is very noisey in the restaurant.
(1)Jim C.
Great views, friendly staff, we had the shrimp/gator quesadilla it was amazing! Entrees we had the Mac Daddy Roni, crawfish and shrimp in a perfect balanced cheese sauce, while the daily special was royal reds done in a NOLA style BBQ all I can say is WOW! Huge draft selection as well.
(5)Diane T.
Very noisy. I ordered shrimp fettuccine Sauce was thinking and runny. Almost no flavor. Very disappointed. Better places in the area.
(2)B. L.
Not too bad....but not a great selection. For a restaurant literally on the beach and named "The Reef" I felt that the seafood selection was lacking. I came here to have seafood and ended up getting the steak :( I will say that the gumbo was awesome and had alligator sausage in it.....yum. the sevice was nice as well. UPDATE: my steak (ordered mid rare) came out raw...eewee :(
(3)Adrian M.
Ewww do not eat here! The food is really overpriced and it does not taste good. It is a tourist trap because of its location.
(1)Paula M.
Just left the reef awesome experience! The Mahi tacos to die for had a sweet with hint of heat sauce. The manager Terry was awesome and friendly Mark the bartender rocked! Service was awesome You are missing out if you don't have the tuna dip! Best on the coast move over Shaggy's!
(5)Jennifer R.
Great service. Great food. I'm from NOLA and these oysters challenge the great dragos.

My family and I ate here last week and the overall experience was not worth coming back to. We started out with the smoked tuna dip which was excellent and is worth trying. The server was very friendly and was very attentive to us. We ordered a dozen raw oysters and the first plate that came out had a hair on one of the oysters. The second plate that came out was tasty, but did not stand out above other oysters we've had. After waiting over 45 minutes after our appetizers were served, the main courses still weren't ready so we instructed the server to box up the food if it wasn't ready. The solution from the kitchen was to send out the kids food first and inform us that the rest was on the way. My kids had the mac and cheese and the grilled fish. The kids mac and cheese was plain and lacking any sort of real flavor and the grilled fish that came out must have come from another plate getting ready to go out, because the kids grilled fish was spicy. It may just be personal taste, but kids dishes should not be spicy unless is specifically says it is spicy on the menu. About ten minutes later the adult dishes come out and the shrimp and grits were extremely salty. This was from my wife who loves salt on everything. My fish tacos were decent but not worth ordering again. We went here after a recommendation from someone at Keesler, but we will not be coming back until the quality of food served here improves.
