The best japanese food in biloxi/gulfport area! The service is always good here. It's a small place but they know their sushi. It's a quiet atmosphere as opposed to the Sake Cafes I'm used to in the New Orleans area. The have some really good sushi here. Some of my favorite sushi offerings: - All their sashimi (lol) - Blackened tuna roll - Ron roll - Spicy Crawfish roll - Red Dragon roll Their menu is extensive: dumplings, egg rolls, soups, salads, steak, shrimp, scallops, soft shell crab, salmon, pork, udon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I must say that I was disappointed to find myself at Sakura because I was hoping it was still Sicily's Pizza, my childhood favorite. Alas, this Sicily's location did not survive Katrina, and we needed lunch so we decided to give it a try. I've been in San Francisco for the past ten years, so I'm accustomed to GREAT sushi. I'm always a little nervous to get sushi elsewhere, but I was pleasantly surprised at Sakura. The maguro tasted perfect and melted in my mouth, which is my measure of quality. Contrary to an earlier reviewer, I thought the miso soup was fine. The gyoza were great, my 2-year-old approved of the tamago, prices were good, and the service was friendly and attentive (almost too attentive). If you are in Biloxi and have a hankering for sushi, give Sakura a try.

We love sushi and have been hesitant to try Sakura sushi mainly because it looks kind of like a hole in the wall run down place from the outside. Those sorts of restaurants can be fine for a good greasy cheeseburger, but when it comes to raw fish we like to play it safe. Contrary to our assumptions, we were pleasantly surprised when dining here because they had a very nice non smoking section unlike a lot of restaurants in the area. The section was completely on the other side of the restaurant so we didn't smell any smoke. The service was great. Our server was right on top of everything and the food came out very quickly. We had some rainbow roles, spicy tuna rolls, and some katsu (sp?) chicken which was just fabulous. The miso soup was one of the worst I have ever tasted, but that can be overlooked as everything else was delicious. The sake they gave us was perfect temp and it seemed like there was no end to it! In San Francisco they would never give us that much so we were really happy. It was yummy we will definitely be back!

The sushi was good but average. They have some unique rolls but it tasted like any chain sushi place we have been to. The service was good, atmosphere was ok.

This place is one of the best sushi places I have ever been to. Have to get the Ron roll and the Tropical Roll

I have driven by this resturant for years and finally tried it out. Miso soup was the best I have had on the coast. Definitely trying this place again and trying different dishes.

Sakura is in my opinion is pretty good. There are plenty options for Japanese food on the Gulf Coast. I think Sakura stands out from the rest because they have "cool" dishes to eat on. The salad bowls kinda lean on it's side.... The service is good and fast. They have affordable lunch specials. Also, and most important the dining rooms are clean. They are a solid 4 stars. Thanks

I would be embarrassed to say I was responsible for producing sushi that was served here. Went for lunch 8/27/15. The portions were a joke (miniature at best), but the prices were not small. Maybe because I got Sashimi and not rolls, but it was hideous. I would expect better from a restaurant with so much competition. All I can say is never again unless things improve.

Very fresh sushi. Waitress is very nice. When we first sat down, they provide hot towel to clan your hands. Menu full of variety. Soba is good, out of expectation. Better than in California. I don't think I would have a chance to come back since it is so far away from me, but I would like more people know about this place. They also have grill station.

Very decent lunch specials for reasonable prices. You get plenty of food, even some veggies. Yes, please! My sole complaint is that the only utensils included in my bag was chopsticks. Yes, I do know how to use chopsticks (with some effort) but if I order one lunch special to go, it's probably because I'm in a hurry to get back to work and don't have time to sit and pinch my food.

Really enjoyed the vibe of this establishment. The only problem is I had to get it to go. No time to sit and enjoy the warmth of the Hibachi grill and decor. But for sure I will come again to sit. I got the spicy crunchy tuna, unagi and soft she'll crab rolls. For apperts I got the vegetables tempura. Will follow up on the food review once my palate is clean.

We had an excellent meal with superior service and military discount. The fried dumplings appetizer were deeeeelicious! The Sakura house salad was like no other Japanese restaurant, and I always order salads with ginger dressing. This one had crab, and some amazing small crunchy ginger pieces. The sushi rolls were amazing, fresh and large. The miso soup was not watered down at all. Our waitress was awesome and helpful.

I got veggie rolls and they were great but I ended up with food poisoning. Very dissapointed in that aspect.

We were tooling around Biloxi looking for a place for lunch and Sakura popped up on the Yelp map. It was a little out of the way in a strip mall, but with the good reviews, we thought to give it a try. It didn't look very promising on the outside, but inside was very nice and clean. Who knew there'd be decent sushi in MS? But if you roll it, they will come! The sushi chef seems very innovative and created a unique menu. There's a big choice of specialty rolls, and most are different from what we're used to back home. We started with miso soup & salad, pretty standard. I have to comment about their choice of dishware which was sort of unusual. The salad bowl was like a biased cut egg like the chair that Will Smith sits in to take the test in Men In Black. Segue over, we had the Ron and Mac rolls, both excellent and followed by lunch special bentos that were a great deal and very tasty. My wife had the Chirashi and liked the freshness of the fish. If we find ourselves down that way again, we'll definitely be back for dinner!

We went for our anniversary dinner the food and service we're absolutely amazing. We did the hibachi and our Chef Anthony was great very talented and sociable. We will be back!

I usually don't eat at random sushi restaurants since I have a favorite but had to go here today with a client since she wanted to try this place. The service was slow and my food came out almost cold. The soup was bland and the sushi was falling apart. I would not come back....ever.

OMG, I've been coming here since they initially opened! I know the owners and they're awesome people! :) even better, we love around the corner from each other so endless food!!!! Lol

We only had sushi, not teppanyaki when we went. Yelp had them listed as being open before 5pm on Saturday but they actually opened at 5pm but that was ok as it was worth waiting. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive and fun to talk with, we had a great report with her the entire meal. Service was excellent and all of our questions were answered and food suggestions were great. We didn't order the Ron Roll everyone raves about because neither of us were into shrimp. However everything else was amazing. Sushi, sashimi, and quail eggs tasted fresh and very flavorful. The rolls were well made and super tasty. We highly recommend this delicious restaurant.

Rhonda was a great server. Very attentive and sweet. Anthony was a fabulous chef. He got me to try their new black pepper sauce which was delicious. I really enjoyed my meal and it was a fun experience. I also was happy that they give a military discount and often have specials. I will definitely be back!

High prices plus tiny portions means I won't be coming back. Went with a friend for dinner tonight and paid @ $15 for three of the dinkiest little rolls you've ever seen. Hardly any rice outside of them and they fell apart easily. You can get much more for your money just about every other place that serves sushi on the coast, especially Samurai or Yuki's. The food was good, but entirely overpriced for what they gave.

Sushi was what I would expect on the gulf. Ok, nothing to write home about. Although the squid salad was excellent. Service was great. Sat @ the little sushi bar & the Japanese lady was awesome. My green tea never got below half a cup.

Dan & I like it here:) they're friendly but orders do take longer than normal

This place was just what we needed for date night! Great atmosphere, great service, and delicious teppanyaki (hibachi). Colleen was our server and she was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Anthony was our chef and put on a good show. My gf ordered the steak and chicken and the food was "yum!" She says. I ordered the steak and shrimp and it was cooked to perfection. We liked that you get fried rice and noodles with the hibachi. Have heard good things about the sushi bar but didn't get the chance to try it. Will definitely be returning.

I went with a group of guys who wanted teppanaki, they did their thing and I ordered sushi off the menu. Based on the constant reviews to try the Ron Roll, I did. I also ordered a volcano roll and salmon nigiri. Maybe I'm picky, or maybe I just really wanted to not amused by my eyes (teppanaki...). But I really wasn't in love with this place. Let me put it out there, this place makes a great Ron Roll. It was delicious and beyond tasty and was great to offer to the first time sushi eater at the table BUT the California roll we ordered for said first timer was akin to grocery store roll (both taste and appearance) and the Volcano roll. Wow. Let's discuss the sadness behind this Volcano roll. I tend to blame my husband for my love for the volcano roll and how every sushi joint makes it a bit different, but on average the ones that bake them really seem to taste the best. Here however it was baked, but the sushi beneath was reminiscent of the California roll we ordered and lacked so much flavor, the topping was baked - yes, but it was placed on top of cold sushi, so the two never "merged", rather I had cold plain sushi underneath and hot/baked volcano topping on top. So, if you're used to higher grade sushi, I'd skip this. I might suggest ordering that Ron Roll to go. Sorry Biloxi, lets see what else you have to offer.

Oh Sakura, how I miss you so! I moved away, and can no longer partake in my 'ron roll' fixes anymore. This place was tied with Samurai as my favorite sushi places on the MS Gulf Coast. If you want a quieter, more traditional, always great service, but less than inspiring menu (tho as mentioned, their Ron Roll is the best thing on the coast!) go to Sakura. If you want a more contemporary feel, dizzying menu, but less than spectacular service, go with Samurai. I would usually go by myself and order edamamme or miso and just the Ron Roll. Service treated me like I was a princess, sometimes even bringing out free desserts. Love the older asian lady server with her Spongebob tie- so cute!. If anyone on the coast says anything about sushi, I say 'Get thee to Sakura for thyne Ron Roll!!'. For a quiet romantic sushi dinner for two, you won't be disappointed.

Sakura Restaurant and Sushi Bar is a great place for some surprisingly fresh and tasty sushi! I'll be honest, when you pull up to the strip mall and survey the restaurant from the parking thought the first thought in my head was "Oh great, strip-mall sushi here we come..." but to my surprise it was actually really, really good. The service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. The sushi was tasty, fresh, and presented quite well. The pricing was good considering we're in the middle of Biloxi and also considering how fresh it was! Overall, this place was really good stuff, I've not eaten at other sushi joints in Biloxi but I don't think I'll need to.

Trying to find a good sushi place in this town is tough! Very few spots at the mini-bar. This is more of a hibachi place than sushi. Everything is priced super high...especially their "specialty roll." The "Ron Roll" cost $13.95!! I'm more used to all you can eat prices on the west coast. The "Ron Roll" was pretty delicious on a positive note.
(2)Emily C.
Went here many times during the short time we lived in Biloxi. Like many other reviews say the Ron roll is awesome! The Rob roll is worth a try as well. You can't beat the great service.
(5)Reed G.
The sushi here is below par for the area. Sakura is one of many sushi restaurants around, and it falls far behind some of the others in quality. If you find yourself craving sushi in this area, I suggest you try another venue. The service here is generally good, and they have decent lunch specials for hibachi, but if it's sushi you're looking for them give this place a skip.
(2)Jessica G.
I tried this place again, and it was much better than last time. I didn't have any concerns about the freshness this time, but the miso soup and fried squid were both pretty bland. The Bomb Roll and Futomaki rolls were really good though.
(3)Lucy T.
Best sushi in Biloxi! I always order the Ron Roll topped with crab. It is to die for! The staff is always friendly. We also frequent Sakura for take-out, and they always have it ready in a timely manner.
(5)Pam G.
I am still not sure about sushi... but I'm coming around! Two words... Ron Roll. Yum. I want one now.
(5)Lo S.
I was introduced to my first bowl of Miso soup and ginger dressing...it's been a long and ongoing love story! I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART MISO and I will never let any unrefined palette talk bad about you. Great service....Great sushi! Eat here please! The owner is awesome!
(4)Daniel P.
Ok, this place is really good. I had the house special roll (don't remember the name) and it was fantastic! I didn't expect too much when I pulled up, but was pleasantly surprised. The service was very personal and the server's (Arai, ask for her.) recommendations were excellent. I will definitely eat here again when I'm in the area.
(5)Valerie L.
Love this place would eat here twice a week if I could Sushi is great and consistent Staff is friendly and food comes out fast but they don't mind if you linger over your food and visit. One of my favorite sushi places on the coast. I have to make myself try new rolls because I like all the ones I have already tried and I always like the new ones too! Can't tell you how many non sushi eaters I have converted into sushi eaters here

Sakura is my staple for quality, authentic Japanese food in Biloxi. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh; the portions are generous. I usually go for lunch and I usually get a bento box of sushi or sashimi. I've never been disappointed and I've never been sick after eating at Sakura. The tuna and salmon, in particular, have always been consistently fresh and mouth-watering. The seaweed salad is mild enough for even the most squeamish of people with an aversion to seaweed. The miso soup is very good, as well. I was recently at Sakura for dinner and ordered the Yakisoba noodles. My family lived in Japan for three years when I was young, and Yakisoba was my favorite dish. I'm usually very disappointed in Yakisoba, so I was a bit apprehensive about ordering it this particular evening. My concerns were completely unwarranted! The Yakisoba was delicious! It was SO authentic, I honestly couldn't believe it. Also, the portion was so generous, I had enough to take home for lunch the next day. (Yes, the noodles were just as tasty.) I always recommend Sakura to friends and family who appreciate authentic, delicious, fresh Japanese food when they are in town. My friends, family, and I are never disappointed.
(5)Melissa L.
Very very good. In fact it was delicious! From the outside Sakura looks a little sketchy just cause of the center it is in but don't let that fool you. This place has some very nice people and some delicious sushi. We tried the Ron roll because everyone had good things too say about it and we were not disappointed. This roll has cream cheese in it. For some reason I don't usually like cream cheese with sushi but the sushi chefs mix it with the crab so you are not biting into a big chunk of it. The result is outstanding. Another very good fish to try is the super white fish.
