I havnt been to Port O Call in decades and was in the area at lunch time and decided to stop. Basically a small family owned restaurant on Lemoyne Blvd that has been at the same location since the 70's. The lunch buffet was small with a wide variety of choices. What impressed me was that everything seemed fresh and home cooked nothing was frozen or Sysco! The breading on the fish was perfect and the fried chicken had a crispy crust and wasn't greasy. My only dissapointment was the red beans could be improved. The waitresses took great care of me and my Ice tea glass never reached half full. Will definately put Port O Call on my list for future lunches.

The food is still good but ownership has passed to the next generation. The greeting by the owner used to be warm and inviting has changed to cold and surly. I hope that this was an anomaly and not a portent if the inevitable decline that occurs when succeeding generations take over.

Friendly family restaurant with excellent poboys, gumbo that has an exceptional roux, great fried, broiled and blacked fish all at reasonable prices. I have lived on the Mississippi coast all my life and it is among my favorite places to eat. I also enjoy their blackened ribeye, stuffed crab, and the half shrimp and oyster platter. If you are expecting fancy silverware and plates this ain't the place for you, but if you are looking for a good meal before taking the wife to the movie this is the place to go.

This place deserves no stars. I tried but Yelp wouldn't let me. Please, I beg you, never go here. Food was not good at all. And here's the kicker: lady at register asked wife and me, "was food good?" I said it was alright; trying to be nice, and she got upset. DONT GO!!!!!

Don't let the location or the physical features of this place fool you. This place is way better than it looks. The staff is welcoming and informative. The salad bar while small is good and came free with our meal. It also had macaroni salad and coleslaw. My husband had the blackened redfish with fried okra. While I'm not huge on the texture of redfish it had a great flavor and the okra was fresh and crispy. I had the stuffed flounder with fries. The flounder is stuffed with a crab mixture that is divine. The fish was handled well and had a great lemony flavor. The bread and fries that came with the meal where basic but well cooked. However, the dessert was underwhelming. My husband ordered the Boston pie cake but it wasn't very good especially for the $4 it cost but the rest of the food was fairly priced. Our meal came out to $41.57 without tip.

Went here for a quick dinner with a group as we were passing thru on our way to OBA. The building was old and had bars on the windows which made the moms in the group hesitate, but we went for it. Food was good and service was friendly. Salad bar was pretty sad, but OK. Wanted a beer that was on the menu, but was told they were out of all, but a couple of brands which seemed weird. Overall not bad.

My last experience here wasn't great but I decided to forgo the buffet and get a poboy. The shrimp was perfect. The portion was HUGE. I should have ordered a 1/2 but I didn't know it was going to be so big. I'd give it 4 stars but you can smoke in there and the smokers are in the front and you have to walk through there to get in/out and also walk through the cloud if you order the buffet. That's kind of grody.
