Before my husband and I went to this restaurant I called and asked if they fry their French fries in the same oil as they fry their oysters and shrimp. The lady tells me "no why?" So I tell her my husband is allergic to shellfish. So she decided she had better ask someone else about the oil, turns out they do use the same oil for all their fried foods. So we go ahead and go to the restaurant knowing my husband can eat something that is not fried. So he decided on a salad bar and a sweet potato. I had the fried catfish fillets. The salad bar is horrible: shredded iceberg, funky cucumbers, squishy tomatoes and the worst FAKE bacon bits. The salad dressing choices were a disappointment: honey mustard, ranch and something pink like 1000 island, they had some packages but I am watching my sodium and can't eat dairy, So I ate iceberg lettuce with lemon juice. My fish was good but my baked potato was hard. Grrrr! My husband decided to eat his iceberg lettuce with cottage cheese. Luckily for him the sweet potato was fully cooked and delicious. I guess our next time in the area we will drive in to Tupelo.

So the steaks are average, about what you would expect by looking at the place but the thing that keeps me going back is believe it or not, the house salad dressing in the salad bar. The closest thing I can relate it to is thousand island but it's much better than that. Don't make a trip out of your way to go here but if you're in the area, and you're hungry, stop by and see if I'm crazy for loving it so much.

The steak for two was good and plenty. The salad bar was a little odd. It had shredded lettuce and all the fixings were in plastic tubs you might have at your house. Soda comes in cans by the way which is not usual for a sit down restaurant. Overall it was pretty good, the people where nice and attentive and the decor was old school. I will go again if I am looking for a good steak.

We visit the Country Inn at least once a month. We get the steak for two & have always been extremely pleased. The salad bar is always fresh & full!! I like that they give you hush puppies as an appetizer! If you leave this place hungry, somethings wrong!

Been going to this Country Inn for almost 20 years, several times a year and enjoyed nearly every visit. Very consistant food. Always ordered the "Steak for Two" and it is always good (only exception is two times when there was too much fat on the steak). So that is a 30+ to -2 ratio of great steaks. Salad bar is fair for a hometown eatery. Baked potatoes are always soft and tasty. Good service. Always a treat to go. They do have carry-out orders for the steaks and other items, and you can make your own salad when you get there (or they can do that for you). Note they are open only Thur-Sat from 5pm to 9pm.
