Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
We were pleased to be able to eat at Applebee's since we had a 2-for-1 coupon. So we decided to go over our lunch break. We arrived and were seated at 11:25am and the waitress took our order almost immediately. We didn't order an appetizer because we were sort of on a time crunch and didn't want to wait any extra time. After waiting for almost 35 minutes the waitress comes out to tell us that our food "should have been out already, but they had to remake my burger because they put cheese on it" ... mind you this is the FIRST time she came out to say anything at all. We had been sitting there for THAT long with no notice as to WHY.... She approached us to tell us what was going on and I told her I was very unhappy and that I'd like to speak to a manager. He came over right away and was very apologetic and even gave us a free meal and packaged it to go. Unfortunately when I got back to work and FINALLY got to sit down to eat my burger it was pink in the middle, the Cowboy Burger is supposed to come with crunchy onion straws and bacon and the all the toppings that you get with a normal burger. Mine had the soggiest onion straws just mushed right into the bread, the bacon was flacid and there was NO toppings at all.. no lettuce or tomatoes or onions or pickles... NOTHING. The fries tasted like they were cooked yesterday and had been sitting under a heat lamp ALL day. I had a bad feeling because I've had bad experiences with Applebee's before, but this solidifies the fact that Applebee's just rides on their name and NOT customer service. I will never return to any Applebee's for the rest of my life. What a horrid company and horrid standards.

Great place. We went on Sunday night and were seated right away. A big plus was that the restaurant was entirely no smoking. The waitress, Ashley, was wonderful and tolerant of our one-year-old's attempts at getting everyone's attention. The food was great and the prices were just right. Everything you'd expect from Applebee's.

Didn't make it past the door, along with other people, as there were no waitress in site. We witnessed a large family and two couples leave before us because of the same reason.

I'm really hoping it was an off night, but we were there on a very slow night - slow in business for them and service for us. Even though we were practically the only ones there, it took an hour to get our food (keep in mind, it was just my mother and I) and we saw very little of our waiter. I will definitely give them another shot in the future as I love their menu, but maybe I'll just stick with carryout for now.

The girl who helped me on the phone was great, she practically read the whole menu to me on the phone in the middle of lunch hour. she did tell me about 15 minutes for curbside pickup and it was about 30-35 as I watched every other car get their food and read the USA Today. The girl was very friendly and apologetic but... Potato Soup 5 Stars, Fries 4 Stars, Burger (very rubbery on a hard bun) 2 stars, strawberry cheese cake thingy 3 stars, my wait 3 stars. I've had better food from here, just not today.

Show up for a late lunch. Did the 19.99 12oz New York strip deal. Came with a baked potato (1.49 upcharge for loaded) and a house salad. The salad was a chopped salad and I opted for the blue cheese dressing. Oh the steak. I ordered medium and got a well done slab. Lucky for me it wasn't totally dry. Flavor was ok so I added some steak sauce. Most steaks I like can stand on their own. This one needed the help. The baked potato was baked at one time but when I got it a tepid room temp spud was what I got. At least it was workable. Real bacon bits and cheese with butter. Which would have been a nice melty combo but that spud wouldn't melt much of anything anymore. Salad was average.

Waited 15 minutes and no service while the place was dead on a Sunday night. Waiter was doing who-knows-what.

I never expect much from Applebee's. I haven't been to an Applebee's in years and it seems they've gotten worse. My steak was cold, my shrimp under cooked, and the entire meal had a funk like it had been left in the fridge for a week past the expiration date. I'm puzzled by the fact that this chain of restaurants is as successful as they are across the country. I wouldn't have eaten here at all but we had a gift card. I wish I had three thumbs to turn down!

I LOVED applebee's when I lived in KS. Went last night for a simple date (Apps and desserts) our total was over 30.00 the apps were not impressive, got sweet potatoes fries and wonton tacos. The sweet potatoes fries didn't even cover the bottom of the plate there were so few. The wonton tacos were ok, nothing great. Then dessert tried the blonde which I have always craved, the serving place was sticky and gooey and looks like it was never cleaned, and the churros we got were small and not worth it. Plus the whole place smelled like a JR Highs boy locker room and there was no AC or air flow. NEVER again.

Went to Applebee's tried the two for 25..... For the spinach dip :( tasted like they took it out of freezer put a tablespoon of cheese on it and put in microwave. Was very gross watered down , no flavor other then grossness. Then my food comes and right on top is a thick curly hair from a beard ( which looked like a hair from the lower region ). I was disguised and instead of asking me what I wanted she grabs a plate and gets me another . I couldn't eat after knowing the same cook was going to prepare my food!!! I paid for my good but no tip for the waitress who wasn't appologetic . Applebee's used to be good 10 years ago . Now it's just horrible food!!!

My steak was cooked perfectly this time! Food was prepared wonderfully and everything was great! The downside was the time it took. We were there for lunch, and from the time it took to sit down, till the time we left, was over an hour. That doesn't work too well when you have an hour lunch to work with. I was also charged twice on my card and haven't heard from their management yet as to when they're going to fix that.

Well, it's Applebee's, so don't expect a culinary delight. I had not been in years. It used to be one of our favorites 15 years or so ago. Either my taste has improved or the food has diminished. We went for lunch. Service was fine. We were seated immediately and drinks and food came out quickly. The downside was the quality of the food. I ordered the Bourbon Street steak. It used to be pretty good. Now, I'm not sure what kind of meat they use. It was so light in color, it almost appeared to be pork. But the taste was not pork, nor did it really taste like beef. Some sort of hybrid? Or maybe some animal I've never tried before. Moose perhaps. It wasn't awful, just not a $16 steak. Would have been acceptable for $8. My son said his chicken strips were fine, but they looked like frozen strips to me. Probably get better ones at Hardee's (Carls Jr). Go across the street to Cheddars if the line isn't too long.

The food is your average American fare, and our meal was all very good and our server was nice. The downfalls were that there was no one at the host station so I had to wait up front until he appeared to take me to our table and he disappeared again, thankfully I noticed when the rest of my table arrived and that it seemed like it took far too long to get our food, so I don't know if that was the kitchen or the server.

This place could be good if they had better management. Every Applebee's I have been to in Springfield has horrible time management and service. Which is too bad because however long it may take to get the food, it is always pretty tasty. I wouldn't mind waiting for food if the service was better during the wait. Why does it take so long for water? It seems to be an issue, lol. Oh well, se la vie, now we go to Cheddar's across the street.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
