I came to STL on vacation to see the blues. The valet and all the staff recommended the place, so we decided to eat here. The food is pottery pricey, but the food is well worth it - especially the toasted ravioli! The staff are amazing! Even though we were there a little before they opened, they still treated us like any other guest. We also got free bread with herbal butter, which was really good. I'm only giving it four stars because it's a little on the pricey side.

Well boyfriend surprised me and we went here for our 1st anniversary of dating here. TO BE HONEST and trying to make this review short.... THE WAITRESS AUDREY made our anniversary awesome!!! She was very helpful and knowledge and attentive. More about her later. The food was ok. I was surprised they didnt have any pasta that was just plain ole pasta without any bells and whistles. AUDREY TO THE RESCUE. She got me special rigatoni cabonara. Eh it was ok. Boyfriend got 2 huge porkchops. He didnt care for the mushrooms on it and the potatos were wedges and not very many. He didnt like so i had to share my average amount of pasta. We were both shocked that with the meal and with pasta bread wasnt sevred. Well, yeah , i lied 4 little squares of weird bread like was served on a small plate that we did not care for. PLUS who would eat TURTLE SOUP! i almost gagged when she offered that. Roadkill anyone? THE BEST WAS AUDREY OUR WAITRESS go there for her. She brought us out , which was the best part of the night, an amazing piece of pie with cookie crust with a candle. AWESOME! Would I GO THERE again? Hard to say. The food choices were just ok. Maybe a sandwhich next time? i dont know. Our bill was $55 for an order or Rigatoni,, pork chop dinner, 1 soda, 1 shirley temple, and a EXTREMELY SMALL order of these potato like wedges sprinkled in Ramano cheese. SUCH A SMALL ORDER maybe euqivalent to a small potato. I don't know i expected more? But when you have AMAZING service it makes up for it all!!!!

I've never had a bad meal at Lombardo's. Is it the best steakhouse? The best pasta? No, but it's very well done, and at least at lunch the price is really fantastic for the meal you're getting. I've eaten steak here, which is prepared well, cooked perfectly, and has great taste. I've also eaten the seafood pasta dish at lunch, with huge pieces of clams, shrimp, etc, also very tasty. They use a LOT of butter in their dishes, and though my doctor doesn't like it, I sure do! I don't think I need to mention it, as others already have, but I will anyways. They have the best toasted ravioli in St Louis. They aren't the dry little hockey pucks you get on the hill, they are huge almost fried dumpling like, and have a very juicy meatball in the center. Piled high with a huge handful of fresh cheese, and their really good red sauce. Great lunch spot when we feel like getting in the car and escaping the downtown scene. They are never very busy for lunch, likely due to location, but well worth the short drive. Parking in the Drury garage is free, the garage code is printed on the bottom of your receipt.

Very overrated and overpriced! Old fashioned and outdated! I like old fashioned elegance but this place has seen better days. The food was tasteless and the service was terrible. The server was irritated because we were a party of 12 with 2 children. The restaurant was dead. They should have been happy to have the business and the children were not misbehaved. I think they were upset because we weren't drinking $200 bottles of wine. Oh well at least we were there. But we won't be again!!!

I came here because I stayed at the nearby St. Louis Union Station - a DoubleTree by Hilton historic hotel. Lombardo's Trattoria was across the street and highly rated on Yelp. Also the Lombardo Family's legacy of fine food at moderate prices goes back almost 75 years. They own and operate 5 locations including this one. The original Lombardo's was at a different location. They are known for their famous home-made toasted ravioli. They also have their own house marinara sauce. The place has a bit of upscale atmosphere. I just arrived in St. Louis for a convention. My hotel room was not available so I decided to eat lunch here. Very few people were here when I arrived so I decided to eat at a table for two in the bar area. Only one other patron was eating lunch at the bar. Chris the female bartender and my waitress recommended the highlighted toasted ravioli's for only $8.95. I thought what a deal for only $8.95. The Housemade oversized beef, chicken and spinach Ravioli's are served with their own marinara sauce & romano cheese. The ravioli's were served almost immediately and then I realized why. They were not toasted, but, deep fried. I don't like to eat deep fried food often and as it turned out I was not impressed by their toasted (really deep fried) ravioli's or their marinara sauce. Chris, on the other hand, was very nice to explain that deep fried foods are very popular here in St. Louis. Now I know not to order anymore toasted food here. One of my Yelper friends Clarice expressed interest to visit St. Louis and Lombardo's recently. I cautioned her regarding my experience. I told her she should not rely on my review, because maybe she might like their deep fried ravioli's. I will probably give them one more chance to prove themselves with a different item on their menu. So I rated the place as average, because they must be better than my only one experience.

I was staying at the union station hotel and was looking for something to eat, being in the middle of nowhere and at least 20 minute walk to downtown, I decided to choose something close by because I was tired. Yelp once again came to the rescue. I had the gluten free penne with seafood, my mo of always modifying things on the menu to fit my picky palette. The penne was cooked al dente, the seafood included shrimp, scallops, crab meat and clams. I thought the seafood was not as fresh. I mean the food was decent but it lacked that fresh seafood taste. I also had the salad which was pretty standard but a bit pricy. Overall it was ok place at pretty standard prices.

I continue to brag about this place to my friends and family from St.Louis to California. We will make this a tradition and keep telling the public to come your restaurant while visiting St. Louis... A St. Louis institution that boasts that they are the inventors of the toasted ravioli....don't know if it is true, but they sure are emperor sized worthy of the boast. These things are tasty in an evil way and you find yourself stuffing a few down fairly casually all the while bemoaning the unhealthiness of the same! Other than the ravioli, the pastas are fairly plebian and generally oversauced and while always cooked perfectly, are nothing fabulous. Parmesan crusted tilapia was good, but a bit overpriced for tilapia. Lemon caper sauce good, but again large puddles of sauce took away the gentle crispiness of the tilapia. Steak overcooked the first time, but fixed fast and with a smile. One thing that typifies this place to me is really great service. I have been here many many times and even when the food is not really doing its magic, the service has always been great. Worth trying for the kitsch!

When I think of the Lou there are a few things that come to mind. Toasted Ravs are one of them. Toasted Ravioli originated in St. Louis. There had been stories it's started at Lombardo's. I will say that it is the best toasted Rav I've ever had. That's big shoes to fill. Lombardo's is tucked inside the Drury Inn by Union Station. It's totally worth the trip in here. They have really good soup, pasta and they are also known for their steak with Gorgonzola. I still say the toasted Rav is the best! Check it out.

Located in the Drury Inn is this great little restaurant. Our valet from Union Station recommend this spot and it was within walking distance. It got crowded on a weekday, so I would recommend a reservation. There is some serious controversy in STL about which restaurant originally "invented" the toasted ravioli. Lombard's claims they are the original, so of course, we had to try them. They weren't bad. But the dinner entrees is where Lombardo's excels. My husband had the Filet Gorgozola, cooked to perfection at mid-rare and as I had to sample from his plate, I rate it very high. I made the brilliant decision on the veal chop. I was served two of the biggest chops I ever laid eyes on. It was melt-in-your mouth deliciousness. I made a valiant effort to finish them and you know it's beyond great if my husband ignores the rest of his steak to finish my meal off. I still can't forget this chop.

Ordered the toasted ravioli and calzoni for our appetizers and both were excellent. The ravioli definitely lived up to its name however the calzoni might be a little to cheesy for some. The appetizers were huge and could almost make up our entire meal so for dinner we ordered salads to share. The seafood salad was the most notable. It had an array of seafood that were cooked to perfection. The only downfall of the place was the pesky, unenthusiastic waiter.

Great service. I went at a quiet time but the entire wait staff was friendly and attentive. The focaccia bread was made at the restaurant and tasted awesome. Light, buttery and gone quickly! After finishing the specialty bread they brought my caesar's salad and some regular Italian bread. Also soft, fresh and delicious. The delivery of food was well paced and not rushed or slow. When my drink started to get low I received a refill from another waiter (not my own) who noticed and kept me full. It's the small details that count. I observed the chef from where I was sitting for a few moments and he was clean, well-kept, and well-respected by the waiters and staff (that means a lot in a restaurant). The atmosphere was nice. The lighting and music created a great atmosphere for a quiet evening out. Portion sizes were generous but not overwhelming. I eat a lot and I was comfortably full at the end of the meal. The staff knew the menu well and the options all sounded delicious. I ordered the New York Strip steak - medium. The steak came out perfectly cooked and I replaced the potatoes with angel hair pasta and white sauce. It was creamy and a light balance to the steak served. Overall - 5 Food - 5 Service - 5 Atmosphere - 4.5

I left here disappointed. The idea of toasted ravioli sounds amazing. Everything is better fried. But these would almost be better off under their normal circumstances. They were good, yes, but lacking. The marinara, with squiggles of shaved cheese melting inside it, refreshed the meal. The only quibble is that there isn't enough of it. The seafood salad seemed haphazard, with its shrimp and scallops scattered about and given no preference over its lowly plate-mates. If it is a 4 star restaurant, it seems due to reputation. Saying that and giving it 3 stars seems like nitpicking but why else does Yelp exist?

Early anniversary meal with the husband. It was delicious. I had the Filet Gorgonzola and and he had the Filet Angelou. Both of us were very pleased. The steaks were cooked to perfection! We started with the toasted ravioli and it was wonderful as well. Hubby also had the turtle soup and he said it was great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in St. Louis.

Unfortunately, this was one of those places that didn't really live up to their reviews and claims of best toasted ravioli. Took Teen here at her request after seeing a billboard touting their toasted ravioli as the best in STL. Of course, I checked out their Yelp reviews too - good reviews, but no one I know. Had a painfully long dinner here with a really awkward waiter. Its like he was shy to approach us or something. He didn't offer any suggestions, recommendations, or conversation other than the requirements to take our order and refill our drinks. Didn't ask how our food was (or notice that I didn't really touch mine.) Heard him apologizing to other tables about how long the food was taking, but nothing was said to us... We started with the toasted ravioli, and probably should have just cut bait at that point. They were these golf ball sized doughy things filled with meat and enough of some kind of filler that it probably should have been listed in the description (spinach, maybe) The sauce was pedestrian at best. I had stuffed squid appetizer as my dinner because I wasn't too hungry. The squid were well cooked and plentiful, but the sauce was SO SALTY! And I am a lover of salt. I picked at it and shoved it around on my plate for awhile while Teen ate. A manager noticed this and asked me about it - he offered to bring me something else but I didn't have another hour to be trapped in this restaurant so declined. Teen pretended to like her food but really ate maybe 1/3 of it and shoved the rest around on the plate. I think she was afraid to tell me she didn't like it after ordering a $20+ dollar dinner; she also probably didn't want me to agree to sit there any longer while they tried to recover. So she picked at it and asked for the rest to go. They offered us a complimentary dessert. She chose a chocolate cake - when it came out, the description did not match the menu but there was no one to tell and I was like a caged animal by that point. So she just ate it. I took one bite and detected a hint of freezer burn. I handed the waiter my credit card when he dropped off dessert, because I knew I wouldn't see him again for another 20 minutes. When he showed up with my bill, there was no itemized receipt just a number on the credit card receipt. Weird! Some of you are wondering why this is two stars, instead of one...mainly because the manager removed my dinner from the bill and comped us dessert. They tried to recover, but given the number of italian restaurants in STL this is not one I can see myself returning to.

Our meals were absolutely delicious. We had the Filet and Lobster tail, and the Filet Gorgonzola. The lobster tail was one of the best we've ever had. The service was very prompt and enjoyable. We also loved that anyone walking by with a water pitcher refilled our drinks, or took empty plates off the table. Always love to see teamwork! The one downfall was the Caesar salad. We felt there was an insane amount of cheese. So much we couldn't even taste anything else. It was the one thing we did not finish.

Accommodated a large party! Great starters (cheese bread and fried spinach, sounds weird but is pretty good, it melts in your mouth) service was good. Their house salad is delicious. And I had their wahoo. All 12 guests were pleased with their meals. It's in walking distance of union station. If you have room for dessert their shaved lemon ice is soooo fresh and Yummy! (I'm not a fried ravioli girl, but my colleagues enjoyed them as a starter)

Lombardos is good Italian in a once-good location. The atmosphere definitely sets the stage for an intimate night: dimly lit, underground, and reflective walls adding to the feeling of coziness. I really enjoy their toasted ravioli. It's not pre-cut square ravioli that merely fried pasta. This is hand-made and battered ravioli, so it's best not to come in expecting otherwise. Their pasta dishes range from ok to very good; I've never had anything terrible. The one time I had rigatoni it was bland and a little soupy (though not bad), but the steak, spaghetti, and chicken parm were all fantastic. It can be strange on nights when it's dead. For an unknown reason there will be very large groups or 20-40 renting out nearly the entire restaurant some nights and then it will nearly dead the next. Walking in to a large restaurant with only 2-3 other couples can be a little discomfiting, but I've never felt the number of guests affected the service. I wish Union Station wasn't so run down. It definitely puts a damper walking in to such a nice restaurant when you have to walk next to such a worn out and sketch area. Regardless, still nice place to take someone for a mid-priced date or out of town guests for some quick stl favorites as you know the quality will be consistent.

It's unfortunate when Yelp leads you astray, but sometimes it just happens. 4 stars for this place...ummmm, no. The TRav was more like a gigantic doughy meat pocket of sorts. The table bread (always a good indicator if a place is going to shine) was sad and dry and tasted stale. My companion ordered the salmon which tasted unusually fishy, and my pasta (though not unpleasant in overall taste) was very oily. Portion sizes were good, service was acceptable, but prices for quality were excessive. You can do so much better on the Hill for Italian, but I guess the ratings are for folks expecting worse at a restaurant attached to a hotel.

I have been coming to Lombardo's since they opened, since I was 2 years old! I grew up eating at this restaurant. It is owned by a family that owns several other restaurants in St. Louis. They used to enforce a dress code at this location but they don't anymore. The toasted ravioli and calzone (both appetizers) are my favorite items. I have never had a bad meal here. They have a location near the airport as well, which is great if you want a decent meal before you get on a flight. I recommend a reservation on the weekends. My favorite waiter is Ellis, but all the staff are excellent!

Went here as it was close by my hotel and was getting late and it seems there aren't many options after 10 in St Louis. They had closed the seating room but accommodated me at the bar and were really nice about the fact that I came in right before the kitchen was closing. I got the toasted raviolis which is what they are most known for. They were good, huge and very filling. The marinara that came with them was really good too. The place was really clean and the service was very good.

Ate there many nights because of a work assignment. 5-stars for the nice and friendly services, though only 3-stars for the drink selections (bottles only for beer) and food. Food good but not like excellent. Generally on the salty side but the italian sausage sandwich was very good. The wait staff was very attentive though and very friendly.

After getting rave recommendations about this place we visited on our last night in town. Much to our dismay it did not live up to the hype and we would not return. We were greeted very oddly by someone saying "would you like to just look at a menu, or have a seat, what's your deal?" which was strange to say the least. We were one of only 4 tables in the place and service was not timely. The toasted ravioli were mostly dough and slightly chewy, and not in a good way. The Caesar salad had enough dressing to accommodate two salads and I barely touched it because of this. The bread was brought to the table after apps and salad but before entree, we thought that was a little strange as well. For dinner we had Chicken Gorgonzola and Linguine Lombardo. The chicken dish was decent, nice sauce and tasty side of pasta. The sausage links in the second dish were cooked to death and not juicy at all. Overall we were not impressed with this place and wouldn't recommend it.

On a nice weekend getaway we decided to try this place out. First of all they have free valet parking. So far so good. We were seated quickly in a low lit dining area and promptly introduced to our waiter and wine list. The decor is up scale as is the dining. We had a fried calamari appetizer which was good. I had the seafood linguine and she had a chicken dish. We both liked our food and had a nice time to boot. Made for a romantic night and fond memories and that is about as much as you can ask for. Almost a 5.

The waitress we had last night was attentive and helpful. My husband was worried his shorts would be to casual to dine here, but we went anyway and another man was in shorts also. The restaurant seemed to have no problem with our casual attire and we felt right a home. The food was great ..I had shrimp scampi and steak and my husband had a large veal chop. All were prepared just as we ordered. Nice wine and great toasted ravioli. Very close to Union Station. Located right outside of Landrys in the Drury Inn..Nice evening out.

I am here on business and was looking for a change up from the bar food scene I have been hanging in. Lombardo's was the top choice from my hotel so off I went. The atmosphere was exactly what I expected. A nice quiet restaurant with soft lighting. The staff was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. I had the toasted ravioli and it was my first in STL. I am told others do it differently but these were made fresh at the restaurant. They were quite good and recommend as a starter to your meal. My main entree was the peppered tenderloin with mashed potatoes. I ordered it medium rare and that is exactly how it came. It was cooked to perfection. The sherry sauce with mushrooms and onions on top complimented both the meat and potatoes. I would not hesitate to order it again. Overall, my experience was excellent and I will be back.

Great Italian food and the portions were massive. We took 10 people for a corporate dinner last week and all I had to go on was the Yelp recommendations, which were spot-on. I had lasagna and we did a three-course appetizer of toasted ravioli, lobster ravioli and garlic cheese bread; all were tasty, but the lobster ravioli was quite fishy and didn't mix very well with the cream sauce. Just my two cents... The decor was amazing...if you liked Devo and chrome-coated, black-gloss varnished furniture accented by neon in the 1980's; I would have gone with something a little more traditional, but who am I to judge? The music was pretty good, though. I'd eat here again in a heartbeat, but I'd only ingest about half as much as I did the first time. It's all about portion control, fellas...

I hope you are hungry when you dine here! The portions are ginormous!!! The food is amazing though! We were exhausted when we sat down for dinner Saturday night. The waiter was patient and attentive. We were given choices on appetizers and I was glad that we didn't get that because of how much food was on the main course. The only reason I give it three stars is that the waiter seemed offended and a little snappy when we said that we didn't want appetizers. The salad was fresh and came out with these garlic olive oil bread pieces. So delicious and jump started my appetite. I ordered the tortellini with prosciutto and peas, It was amazing!!! Creamy, fresh and perfectly cook. I just wish that I could have taken home. I think the ten hour drive home would have killed it lol. Our drinks were always full. I definitely want to come back some day and try dessert!!!!!

I went here with my best friend three years ago and I still think about the spaghetti and meatballs I usually don't go to Italian Resturant's because my Wife can make whatever they have just as good. But this place has Something Special. The marinara sauce/ spaghetti sauce is something Extra Special. Three years ago and I still think about it I'm telling you the Chef is more like a kitchen Pimp. Because it was That GOOD! I wish I could get some flown here fresh overnight. There is NO WORDS FOR HIW GOOD IT IS!!!! It ruined me for a life time because I DONT WANT SPAGHETTI& MEATBALLS FROM ANYWHERE ELSE PERIOD. They told me it takes Hours to make the Sauce & Nothing is out of a can or frozen they make the sauce from fresh vegetables & herbs daily. And it is cooked for slow & low for Hours. There are very few places that I get this excited for but this year I'm going there for some Spaghetti and meatballs the wait staff was VERY professional and Very knowledgable friendly it's the best if you had to have your last meal this is where I would get my last meal. TRUST ME ITS THAT GOOD! You just have to check it out yourself and let me know what you think. It is pure manna from heaven!!!! And if they will ship out a gallon of there sauce I will pay $100.00 for it.

Our server was exceptional. The food I had was good, not the best italian I have ever had, but I have no complaints. I had the toasted ravioli and filet mignon. The toasted ravioli was delicious, I would not recommend the filet mignon, not that it did not taste good, it just did not compare to other filet mignons I've had at other restaurants, that is all. They had a special when I went, $25 for a 3 course meal.

While in St. Louis, I had the chance to try this place out. I have to say that the food was excellent! The toasted ravioli was delicious, and the lobster risotto was filled with large chunks of lobster. I took my meal to go, so I can't comment on the service (hence the 4 stars), but the bartender was extremely nice & she gave me some suggestions on the menu items. I'm glad my hotel valet suggested this place, & I will definitely be back when I'm in St. Louis again! I recommend this place to anyone heading to that area.

You must start with the toasted ravioli. You will not be disappointed. They are large, full of flavorful meat, and fried perfectly. I then got the veal stuffed with cheese and prosciutto with white cream sauce. Yes that was the main dish and yes it was amazing but what really set the dish off was the amazing, tender, and lushes spinach Fettuccini. This is not the prettiest dish you have seen but you won't be sad you got it I promise.

Took a friend of mine from Nashville here. He brought 2 bottles of his own wine which was shared with the maitre d, the chef, our waiter and the head bartender. We thought this would earn us a discount on the corkage fee but no luck. Service was very good but our waiter seemed scared to death of us. Food was really done right and my Nashville friend was very impressed. We ordered the signature toasted ravioli and also the escargots. The restaurant is in the "basement" of the Drury Inn Union Station Hotel. This jacks-up the atmosphere. We spent a fortune in the place and were famous when we left.

Ten years ago I ate at Lombardo's and had a dish that was so unique and exquisite, that I made myself a promise to return one day and have it again. That dish was the flash fried spinach. Ten years ago it was crispy and had a melt in your mouth, lighter-than-air texture. It was so delicious that it set the tone and mood for rest of the dinner. I don't know what happened but I should not have tried to recreate that moment. No more recommending Lombardo's to everyone who might be passing through St. Louis. Ten years ago, I dined with my daughter, last night I was so excited to be able to take my husband since he'd been hearing about the flash fried spinach for years. Last night we arrived early, at 5:30. There was only one other party in the restaurant. We were greeted by our waitress, Audrey, in a friendly manner, seated, and immediately served water. Then, I ordered wine and my husband ordered a beer. So far, perfect. We ordered the toasted ravioli because it is supposed to be famous, and the long anticipated flash fried spinach for appetizers. We also ordered entrees (vegetable penne pasta) and chicken Gorgonzola. Our waitress, Audrey, brought out the bread. I think she called it ciabatta. It was like no chiabatta I've ever had. It was not crusty or crispy in any way, instead, it was doughy. The flavor was good but it was just like rolled out, slightly warmed up dough. Eh, OK. No big deal------ my flash fried spinach is coming and it will make up for the bread. Ah, here it comes!! My mouth is tingling with anticipation! "Ah, what's this?" I think when the big bowl of green stuff arrives. It looks different than I remember. No problem, memories sometimes aren't accurate. So, we start on the flash fried spinach. Oh no! Grease! After the very few top pieces, the rest of the spinach pieces were drenched in grease! You might be saying, "Hey, Dummy, what do you expect from something that's fried?" I expected to have exactly the same dish as before. Ten years ago there was not a hint of grease. We ate every tiny piece of dry crispy spinach right down to the bottom of the bowl. Did that disappointment color the rest of our experience? Yes. I did not say anything about the spinach. We ate it anyway, grease and all. I don't know why the toasted ravioli is famous. It was good, but nothing to rave about. My veggie pasta was ok, my husband's chicken was ok, but that's it. I ordered a second glass of wine while I was eating but it was delivered after I had finished. Poor Audrey had been left alone to serve the others who had trickled in. The other wait staff had been pulled out of the dining room to seve a party of 30 in the back. Audrey was very friendly and a good waitress but had a hard time keeping up because she had no help. Also, the hostess who arrived after we did looked bored and disinterested as she sat others. It was obvious she didn't want to be there. Bye Lombardo's. Sad to say I will never be back. Oh, I forgot--- it's supposed to be a dressy place. It was 10 years ago. I guess the economy has caused a decline in expectation. Last night other diners arrived in shorts and sandals.

Staying at the Union Station Doubletree and looking for a good close St Louis restaurant, was pleased to be referred to Lombardo's. Best Italian sausage sandwich ever. Wow! This place has great food and great service. We came in around 3:30 because we thought open for lunch meant open from 11:00 until 10:00; however, they are open from 11:00-2:00 and again at 4:00. The manager and bartender were okay with us there and were willing to serve us, but we felt a little awkward at first. We almost left, but we're so glad we didn't. A little before 4:00, our waiter, Keith, came and took us to our table. He was amazing, and so was the food. I feel terrible for those who gave the place a less than stellar rating. Our experience was wonderful. The toasted ravioli was great, our filet Gorgonzola was to die for, and Keith was a perfect waiter! He kept our glasses full (even the kiddos'). He brought our youngest some extra bread (and not the table bread--focaccia) after we mention how much she loves bread. The only reason for the four stars is he asked us if we wanted salads and we didn't realize we'd get charged extra, and the price is kind of high, but the food is well worth it! This place may have to be our new re-Blues game tradition as it was far better than Hard Rock!

Lombardo's has for years sent out coupons for half-off a bottle of wine or 20% off the check. I've observed, pondered and trashed many of these. Finally, last Saturday night we decided we'd finally give the place a try. Unfortunately, there was a big event going on at Union Station, which it seems brought bunches of very casual groups to this restaurant. Now, I could be wrong and it could have been a typical crowd, being in a hotel. Dunno. Anyway, it was loud and not a great setting for a date. The ambience was otherwise nice, similar to some of the nicer Italian places in town and not as stodgy as I expected. The menu selection was pretty standard STL Italian. We had the flash-fried spinach app, which was excellent when the accompanying lemon was applied, and two entrees; veal saltimbocca and chicken gorgonzola, which were a tad pricy but came with salads. The salads were excellent, but the entrees were only good. Both meats were overcooked a bit and the pasta had a bit too much garlic. Service was excellent and the staff were all pretty nice. It was training day for the valet guy, but we got our car back, so no worries. We'll probably come back sometime when we're looking for a decent meal with our little one in tow. Probably won't return for a date. 4 stars, but just barely.

Mick was a great server, if a bit over the top. :) The toasted ravioli was a a bit on the big side and not the most flavorful thing I've had. The flash fried spinach was a little oily but delish. We had veal all around: T-bone special, Lucciano, saltimbocca, and piccata. All were really great. The sauce on the Lucciano is heavy (not a bad thing, just warning you), the saltimbocca is a bit salty. Tiramisu dessert was pretty standard. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. And if I lived in STL, I would be a repeat customer.

Lombardo's came HIGHLY recommended by someone I attended a conference with in St. Louis who was local. The exact recommendation was that Lombardo's was where she went on date nights with her now-fiance in college, and it was their "spot" because it was so amazing. I went with my sister, and we were staying in the Union Station Hotel so we were able to walk right over. If you're driving their is a paid parking lot right across the street and some (very) limited street parking. You enter Lombardo's and its ambiance is a quiet, private setting and the wait staff are extremely attentive. Our waitress specifically was on top of everything through the evening, was sociable and most importantly timely with our food. I had the Linguine Lombardo which was DELICIOUS. It was not what I was expecting in terms of the texture of the sauce, however while unexpected it was very tasty. The portion size was large and I was able to also add a House Salad to my order for a minimal fee. Most importantly, the dessert was also delectable. I really enjoyed Lombardo's and would highly recommend it to anyone who is a Italian fan and desiring a zesty pasta dish!

I am staying at the Union Station Hotel and was looking for a place to eat. I was looking over Yelp reviews and noticed that this place had decent reviews but offers 1/2 off bottles of wine with coupon. Well, being from Chicago and marrying into a traditional Italian family, my expectations of Italian food are high, but the wine coupon sold me on the place so I tried it out. Well, just let me tell you... the place was very nice on the inside, classy (not tacky) and the service was phenomenal... Loved my server, Ellis!!!! So, not only did I get to enjoy a wonderful bottle of wine, Masi Amarone 2007, but the escargot was delicious and complemented the wine wonderfully. Then I ordered the special, veal chop with romano potatoes, which was also cooked perfectly and went well with my wine. I was stuffed at this point and Ellis corked the remainder of my bottle for me and I took a piece of tiramisu to go. The entire dining experience was wonderful and I could not imagine a place that could rival the experience that I had at Lombardo's tonight. I will definitely go back there next time I am in St Louis and would recommend it to my friends... Ask to sit in Ellis' section :-)

Valentine's Day.. FAILURE! My husband and I wanted to treat friends to a nice dinner.. their first time at Lombardos. Looking foward to flash fried spinach and wonderful ravioli. Shocked at the special Valentines menu. . Unable to order our favorites..looking for a dish with marinara that was appealing. No spinach available.. the Ravs were the highlight of our entire $100+ meal. Rate hikes on a simple rigatoni dish wasn't worth it.. presentation on his veal dish looked like dog food on the plate. Rate hikes on every dish. We saw a table of 6 leave after seeing the only choices for a meal that night. Wish we would have left... it was awful. Why change anything Lombardos? The waiter was preoccupied and us two ladies never got a rose. Crappy service.. you failed miserably.

Minus 1 star for the prices. Some may consider it average for the type of dining but still, not cheap. Plus one for GREAT service. Our waitress, wish i could remember her name, was phenomenal. So delightful and tending to any needs we had. One other staff member who i took to be a manager was great also. Very nice atmosphere all around, plus one. Plus two for the food. I had the Lombardo Linguine and my girlfriend had the Cappellini Anthony. If you are a fan of italian sausage, the Lombardo Linguine is excellent. I was amazingly jealous of her dish though, absolutely delicious. I had a spinach salad and she the house salad, very very good. Seeing as we just got back from camping and this was the first sit down meal in sometime we treated ourselves to the Cheese garlic bread and flash fried spinach. Who knew something so simple could be soo damn good. For all that delicious food we walked out of there paying $67 not including tip so i guess when you think about it, it's not tooo expensive. However, the other items on the menu, mainly the veal and beef dishes, were much more pricey. .....almost forgot, i got the lemon shaved ice, delicious and my girlfriend got the tiramisu. She loves the stuff and said theirs was not very good and such a tiny portion. Ill be back if im ever in the area

I was very much surprised by the food here, I think because I got this old (as in dated) feel as I walked around some and that always throws me off. Came here to eat before the Blues opener while the Hard Rock was our first choice (nephew's favorite burger) they had closed off the floor for a big party so we started to wander and thought why not try Lombardo's. Between 3 of use we split a Lombardo's salad (very good), a caesar salad, toasted ravioli (surprisingly good), rigatoni, (good stuff) and tortellini (excellent). They also served these small squares of bread that were unique for pre dinner giveaways. Not sure what kind of bread it was but it was a nice change. Service was pretty good although I think we got more visits than needed. I can't disagree with the 5 star ratings but I need to go again before I give them one of those.

Our dinner here was truly as good as it gets. Great ambiance, fantastic service, incredible food and reasonably priced bottles of wine. We went for Downtown Restaurant Week (3 courses for $25) and everything was perfect. Take everyone's advice on the toasted ravioli. They really are that good. The filet angelou is my favorite, and my date raved about the Cappellini Anthony. We had such a good time that we ended up spending a couple of hours there. We didn't realize how much time had passed because our server never rushed us. It was nice to be able to take our time and enjoy a great dining experience. Definitely the best dinner out I've had this year.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. I was surprised at the $18 price tag, so I was expecting a lot out of the dish. It came out and was an excellent sized portion. Perfectly filling for dinner. The Chicken was fantastic! Excellently seasoned, with the right amount of cheese, which I remember being mozzarella. The pasta, well...that left more to be desired. It was semi-warm, with a below average marinara sauce. There was nothing wrong with it, per se, but it didn't have a whole lot of flavor. We had to wait quite a while on our food, which was fine because they were busy, but I expected my food to at least be warm. The toasted ravioli was good, but not the best in the city (as they say), at least in my book.

In late December we had our Son's rehearsal dinner at this location. I cannot say enough good things - we live out of state and had not visited the location before the event and worked through all details via phone/email. We were so very pleased, the food was excellent, especially the fried ravioli for appetizers. The staff was fantastic and we were very pleased with the private room for our party of 25. I was especially impressed with the servers who always made the Bride/Groom the priority and how they discreetly came to my husband and I with any questions. I hightly recommend this restaurant!

We just weren't impressed. Went on a Saturday night and it was only us and 2 other tables. It was eerie. The food was just "eh" and overpriced for what you get. We are from Chicago and this place just wasn't making the cut. Toasted ravioli was good. Service was awkward. Then I found a hair on my cauliflower. Enough said.

I am giving Lombardo's an extra star just for their toasted ravioli. My hubby was finally able to convince me that toasted ravioli CAN be good. Lombardo's version is filled to the max with flavorful sausage. The skin is thinner than most other raviolis. It is then dusted with breadcrumbs and fried. One of these babies is the equivalent of 2 of the other sad versions. I ended up eating more raviolis than my entree. The rest of our meal was not so memorable. I had risotto with lobster...hm...it was really just a few chunks of lobster knuckle meat and rice that is not al dente. And how could an Italian restaurant not get a Bellini right???? It was made with peach schnapps...yuck...there was not even any pureed frozen peaches. But do get the toasted ravioli!

Heard that Toasted Ravioli was something I needed to get when I came to St. Louis on business. So I was delighted to see that Lombardo's was right by the hotel I was staying at. I came and had this along with a salad. I will say that I did return for dinner a few nights later, and the entree dishes were not that great. If you come, stick to the basics, and be sure to try the toasted Ravioli. I'll be honest... you can order this as an entree and will be plenty full. Check the photo I took of the dish. You'll see it looks quite filling.

The toasted ravioli is the BEST I have ever had....AMAZING! We also had the cavatelli and boiled ravioli. Those were fantastic as well. The marinara was a tangy, sweet compliment to the meat in the ravioli. Very nicely done. We will definitely go again when in St. Louis.

I travel to St. Louis for business and have come here several times. I count myself a regular, albeit an irregular regular, since my trips are every couple of months. First, the food. As others have said, the toasted ravioli is superb. I was there with a group 2 nights ago, and we were told they were offering a lobster ravioli special for dinner. When they saw our eyes light up, they also offered to split the appetizer -- half meat and half lobster. Very nice touch. I could eat an entire meal of the flash fried spinach appetizer and the complementary foccacia. Squeezing lemon on the spinach takes it to other-worldly realms. Every entree I have had, or others I travel with, has been outstanding. Won't go into more detail, as others have done so in other reviews. Table service. Every server has been extremely helpful, and attentive without being bothersome. The servers all seem to be so....well....nice! This week our team had had a long (but very good) day, and we just wanted to enjoy our time together over dinner to decompress. We lounged over appetizers and wine before dinner without being rushed. After dinner -- and after paying the check -- our waiter offered us coffee, promised to keep the water glasses full, and told us to enjoy our table for as long as we wanted to sit and relax. While the restaurant was nowhere near full, the gesture was nonetheless very nice. I've been rushed out of near-empty restaurants elsewhere after paying the check. But the real reason I'm writing this review is an outstanding sense of customer services that starts at the top, and clearly permeates the entire team working at Lombardo's. After dinner we went to the front desk to retrieve briefcases and, for some colleagues who had just arrived that day, suitcases. We asked for a taxi to take us back to our hotel. One of the men at the desk said they would gladly do that for us, but advised that because of a baseball game (Cards vs Pirates) that night, the wait would likely be quite long -- the taxis would all be at the stadium. He alternatively offered us a ride in his SUV to his hotel, which was within a mile of the restaurant. We accepted his gracious offer, he loaded our collective suitcases and briefcases in the back, and we took off. On the way to the hotel I asked what his role was at the restaurant. Turns out we were being given a ride by Tony Lombardo, the owner. We had a brief, but engaging chat on the way to the hotel, and we all piled out of the SUV -- with Tony once again doing luggage duty to pull everything out of the back of his car. If I hadn't asked, I doubt he would have told us he owned the restaurant. When a business owner treats customers (and in all likelihood, his staff) with such courtesy and generosity, and with such humility, you can count on those values permeating the entire business. That explains why I've always enjoyed coming to Lombardo's -- and will continue to go there at least once for dinner every time I return to St. Louis. Thank you again, Tony -- much appreciate it!!

First off let me say, the food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that good either. I am staying at the Drury Inn (in fact I am writing from my hotel room thanks to their free wifi) and this is the restaurant inside the hotel. I ordered chicken parmigiano, and I got it for carry out to take back to my room since I had a small child. My bill was $20 and change just for the one entree, which I thought was pretty high. For that price I expected to have very good food, but it wasn't. My chicken was underseasoned and a little dry. The marinara was nothing special, and a little underseasoned as well. The highlight of my meal was the house salad that came with the entree, which is never a good sign. Bread also came with the meal, and I wasn't crazy about it, but I am not a big bread person, so I wouldn't say I am a fair judge of that. It was a very crusty bread, not garlic, served with butter, I thought it was just ok. You could get a better meal at Olive Garden or a similar restaurant for nearly half the price. Therefore, I give 2 stars.

Back behind the Union Station, in the basement of the Drury Inn, is a throw-back to the days of high-class, Italian restaurants...that's Lombardo's. Dark, wood-paneled walls and real linens on the tables. My waiter was flexible in accommodating my requests and even offered some modifications to the menu because I was a table of one. He offered to bring me one each of their regular and lobster fried ravioli, instead of making me buy one choice and five ravioli. These are not what you may be used to seeing as fired ravioli. They are golf ball sized taste treats. One stuffed with seasoned spinach and marinara, the other with tender lobster in a cream sauce. Excellent. My entree was Rigatoni Trattoria which was tender rigatoni, their handmade sausage, onions, and mushrooms in a cream tomato sauce that was out of this world. The prices were surprisingly reasonable ($15 entree) for the portion and the quality. It may be a bit hard to find, but well worth the search.

We had a great experience at Lombardo's. We made reservations for 4:30 on a Saturday and arrived at 4 (I know that is normal senior citizen dinner time). The hostess promptly seated us even though we were half an hour early. So you are probably asking yourself why such an early dinner? Well we were going to see a show at the Peabody Opera House. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and very patient as it was our first time at the restaurant. We started off with the fried calamari. It was cooked to perfection. The garlic butter sauce was awesome. For my entree I had the fillet and lobster tail. They too were cooked to perfection. To finish off the meal I had the tiramisu. It was to die for. The only complaint I have is they don't have draft beer. I know you probably think that isn't a big deal but to me it is. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. We will definitely be back.

Stopped by for dinner the other night at my husband's suggestion. He had raved about the toasted ravs and I wanted to give them a try. The staff was professional and courteous. The service was quite slow for a Sunday evening at 6pm. There were maybe 6 other tables in with us. The toasted ravs were good, but I would not agree that they are the BEST in St. Louis. In my opinion Katie's Pizzas ravs hold that honor. The lasagna my husband had was fantastic! It was one of the best things I have eaten. I decided on the Cappellini Anthony and it did not disappoint. Perfect mix of sauce...light and very tasty. The house-made bread is also very delicious. The 3 starts is solely based on the slow service. The food is very good.

Lame waiter serving up lame excuses. We three runners chose Lombardo's for our carb-loading session prior to the St. Louis Rock N Roll marathon. We had 7:30 reservations and did not receive our dinner until 9:00! Yes, that's 9:00! Our orders neither complicated nor special...cheese garlic bread, pasta with a salad and two veal dishes with salad. After returning with our drinks, the waiter virtually disappeared. I flagged down a super sweet bus girl who found our salads, the bread, and the waiter. He came by, apologized, and said he'd be back with the appetizer. Didn't happen. We continued to wait and finally received our main dishes around 9. Then, after being reminded, the waiter ran back for the appetizer. Said waiter kept apologizing and telling us the kitchen was slammed. Well, it wasn't too slammed for others around us to be served in more timely fashion. The cynic among us suggested that the waiter was sneaking out for quick peeks at the televised World Series game. Could be... Tried to find a manager to give feedback on our way out.....nowhere to be found. Fortunately, we were staying in the adjoining hotel so time wasn't critical. But this review is! BTW, the food was fine, but not good enough to suffer the waitstaff.

The only problem with Lombardo's is that you're hungry again 3 days later. The portions are huge and the service is......well they are there sometimes. The Linguine Lombardo is great the way the onions and peppers mix with the sauce and compliment the sausage is warm and comforting like a friends hug.and the Lobster Risotto is off the hook, it's rich and smooth with a little decadence for added flavor. The server was around...at least I think they were around. I saw them rarely and we had to wait for what seemed like hours to get our chck after we asked for it. Ok maybe it wasn't hours but it did seem like a long time to get it. All in all I would give the food 4 stars and the service 2 stars. This evens out to be about 3 sorry Lombardo's you go up when you get wait staff that doesn't suck. I liked it but with the wait staff being what they are I didn't like it enough to go back.

Food excellent. Wait staff excellent. I sometimes forget to mention this place as a recommendation when talking with friends or colleagues, only because it's a little off the beaten path. Well, my bad because it's well worth finding. Scroll down for the story of one of the Lombardos giving patrons a ride back to hotel in his SUV. Don't doubt that story at all. The folks here are just that nice. Just dined here on a Friday night and the place was full and turning covers as fast as they could. T-ravs, risotto, steak, salmon, pastas, striped bass. The whole table shares "bites" when it's this good. You won't leave hungry and yea, get some flash fried spinach. When almost every review mentions a dish just do it.

I have lived in STL for most of my life, and I had never heard of this restaurant until my husband found it on Yelp. We made a reservation because he HAD to try the flash fried spinach, which he loves just about everywhere he can find it. Well, he ate the WHOLE BOWL of it -- so I guess he loved it!!! Also, our waiter was easy on the eyes (hahahaha) and the service was great. The food was good, too, just what I would expect from a good Italian place in St. Louis. Nothing surprising, but very flavorful. I would definitely eat here again!

The portions are the greater side in my opinion so definitely come with an empty stomach. For desert I had the white russian pie. It was to die for. I never knew my favorite drink came in edible and desert form. I did find it kind of odd that it was attached to the Drury and it is kinda pushed back and hidden. Should definitely be in a better location. The dress code is dressy (we were not dressy, but they treated us with respect). And ladies, cute waiters!

I really don't know why I don't think of eating at Lombardo's more often. I'm sure it's because of the fairly hidden location in the Drury Inn next to Union Station, but I've been impressed every time I've gone to Lombardo's. I hadn't stopped in for a few years but based on a recommendation from a new friend, some customer's and I decided to give Lombardo's a shot. I'm glad that we did. If you're an individual who can appreciate a great toatsted ravioli then you must go to Lombardo's. The toasted rav's at Lombardo's are like no others. These giganitic pillows of perfectly crispy yet slightly soft dough stuffed with a generous amount of meat are the stuff that makes their way into my dreams at night. There is no uncertainty that these TR's are handmade and made with love. In addition, our server Mo, brought us three lobster raviolis that were topped with a cream sauce. Outstanding. Our salads were perfect as well. A St. Louis style italian sald which which tossed in a creamy italian dressing that wasn't really overly creamy in a good way. I prefer a generous amount of dressing on my salad (hence then double chin), but I dont want me salad drenched in it either. If you want to win my heart, throw an artichoke heart on top of what ever I'm eating. Yes ladies, I'm THAT easy! In the entree department, two of us went with the highly recommended Steak Angelou and the third ordered seafood linguini. Our filets were topped with, what else, provel cheese! From my recollection there was also garlic, panceta, and a few mushrooms as toppings. The new potatoes topped with garlic were fantastic. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (kinda like me). The potatoes made a great for a great accomplice next to the steak. Mr. Seafood Pasta did whine a bit because he has asked for cream sauce but his pasta arrived in an olive oil and garlic butter. Rather than send it back he decided to push the heart attack back a day and scarfed down his pasta with a smile. Aside from the pasta sauce foul, our server was wonderful. She played along with our relentless jokes and banter. The smile never escaped her face and was extremely attentive. Also, her co-workers all chipped in to run food and clear plates. This is a sign of a well run establishment. Lombardo's really only has a few negatives which are mainly caused by the location. The spot is basement-like on the lower level of the Drury Inn. The bathrooms require a trek up to the hotel lobby. Lombardo's does not have a bathroom inside the restaurant. Also the fact that Lombardo's also serves as the hotel bar which drew in a variety of characters. When it was all said and done, Lombardo's was an excellent choice for our business dinner. The prices were very reasonable and the food and service were both outstanding. Lombardo's also has a location at the Drury Inn at Lambert Airport. Carmine's Steakhouse in the Drury Inn by The Arch, and I believe there is a new location in Arnold as well.

I can't really say this place is amazing...I mean, I wanted to like it, I really did. I made reservations, but there was no wait on a Wednesday night, which was a plus. The server was attentive, but maybe overly attentive. I felt like we couldn't really get into our conversation without a "would you like to order an appetizer..." 4 min later, "here is your bread"...3 min later "here is your wine"...2 min later..."here are the specials"...1 sec later "are you ready to order"....1 millisecond later "here is your salad"...ok, I'm sure you get the picture. Maybe this is not the best place to come for a business dinner. We actually had papers out discussing items and was constantly interrupted. Maybe my bad for not telling him to come back in 10min. The food was just ok. We both decided to try the specials for the night, where yet another waiter overhearing us trying to decide told us both specials were great...the Mahi Mahi dish (which I had...very little flavor and some unrecongnizable garnishments) and the surf & turf (ordered by my boss, who enjoyed it). The cheesecake was actually really good, but it wasn't made in-house (from The Hill). As described, the desserts came from a couple of locations within the city, and maybe 2 in-house. Maybe I'll give this place another try and just eat pasta.

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lombardo's in September and we would like to share our experience. The food/beverages were excellent; and as most guests ordered the filet mignon, the comment we heard over and over again was that it was the best "steak" that anyone had ever had, we totally agree. Their staff was exceptional. Chris, one of our servers, was very attentive and made sure everyone was comfortable and well taken care of, she didn't miss a beat. Ellis, our other server, was very discreet as he cleared dishes and assisted Chris. Vesta responded very quickly to our initial email and made herself available by phone. She immediately put us at ease by answering our questions and offering feedback. Lastly, Dave, was also very helpful in assisting us to finalize the arrangements. Additionally, they are to be commended for their team of friendly staff, servers and fabulous top-notch restaurant. Well Done! We just can't say enough about how pleased we were with everything. They exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended.

I was a bit disappointed that it's attached to the Drury Hotel (yuck), it should be a stand-alone restaurant closer to the arch/downtown and I think it would do so much better. Must try: the spinach appetizer. I'm not a huge spinach fan but it was sure tasty!

Quick trip to this part of the world and stayed at The Drury Inn as I had to be up and at it early. Checked online about this being right next door and seeing as I had a long day I didn't want Applebees anywhere in the crosshairs for a 8pm dinner. Not bad... had the barley and beef soup, followed by the special, which was a veal chop. Baked potato not great, bread for the table not great, veal chop a very nice surprise, soup actually one of the better I've had. Service was outstanding, martini was spot on (although a little small) and a nice glass of inexpensive Syrah helped it all down. Place had that old musky type feeling and smell (just rained so that probably didn't help), cheap steak knives (like the ones I used to steal from the Golden Corral for Indian Princess camping trips) but overall doable and far better that your standard chain that you typically get close to the airport. Wouldn't make the special trip but if your overnight at the STL airport well worth stopping by.

Arriving St. Louis on Friday evening . . . *UGH* traffic was horrible! Our hotel sucked! Everything running late including us! We found this little gem of a restaurant here on Yelp and what a find! Great service, great menu, wonder and reasonably priced wine list! I had a linguini dish & hubby had jumbo shrimp scampi something. The kiddo had "chicken & pasta" (not on the menu but they made it JUST they way he likes it!). AND they honored my request for a lemon chelo martini! LOVE!!! Hard to give it 5 stars ONLY because mom lost her purse so niether she nor my sister ate anything! They just ordered, didn't eat! A real downer. Next time just the three of us for a true 5 star experience!

This place has amazing Italian food! I went here with people who are regulars so they knew what was the best. We started with the toasted ravioli appetizer which was delicious! It's all beef inside for those that can't have pork like me. For my meal I did a variation of a dish listed on the menu but had them change slightly. Located across the street from Union Station. The building is beautiful and the restaurant was well decorated. On my first visit I had the Chicken Parmigiana. A nice portion of chicken and very light on the pasta. On my second visit, I had the Lasagna, which was good, but surprising in that it included mushrooms, not typically what I would expect. In both of our visits, the service was outstanding.

I've eaten here ( and at the location by the airport) several times and have somehow missed the toasted ravioli ... until tonight. It comes off the appetizer menu. My plan was to follow with an entree, but the server cautioned that there is no way I could eat it both. I might have said, " game on " in my younger days, but ultimately would have ruined the savor of what the local patrons described as the best toasted ravioli in the city. It was indeed incredible. If you are staying at the Union Station Drury, there is absolutely no need to venture any further than Lombardo's. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, buono cibo.

Both nights here i had amazing service, sub par wine and descent food. All the other reviews raved about how good the food is here but from what I could tell it was just ok. The service definitely outweighs the food quality, but in my expert opinion this joint is overpriced and just not up to the standards in an establishment charging so much to hang out. Try something else... And to end this review properly, we made a decision on how we felt about the food quality and expressed it Yo our server/bartender... She then told the kitchen help that we did not appreciate their bullshit and the head chef came out to question us with a vary combative attitude and almost got whooped. We went on a Saturday night. There was no crowd, so we were seated without reservations. We are from Dallas, and chose this restaurant on the recommendation of a local. The specials were very good, and the fried ravioli appetizer is made on site. Soooo fresh. Also tasted the Flash Fried Spinach. It is like cotton candy for adults. Our server was friendly and efficient. Overall, a good experience. Definitely would eat there again.

Do me a favor and try the flash-fried spinach. This was the first place that I tried this appetizer, and it may sound strange, but it is amazing! I came here for a work lunch, and it was a great spot. A little, hidden location with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I also had the Lombardo salad; it was delicious and covered with goodies. I love artichoke! For my meal, I had the linguine. They do Italian right here, and it's a little different than your traditional Italian place. You'll find more original appetizers and entrees here with interesting ingredients. It is a bit pricey, which did make it ideal for a work lunch! You've got to love a comped meal.

I was very surprised by the prices at Lombardo's Trattoria , especially after I saw the interior of the building, and even more so after the great service I received. I was very happy with our experience there. I had the salmon (it comes with gnocchi: yum!) which was cooked perfectly. I'm actually tempted to try to toasted ravioli here as they look like they are actually made on site instead of the homogenous meat pillows they serve everywhere else. Lombardo's also has the capability to have catered events and banquets on site; I don't think anyone would be disappointed if you had your next party here.

A hidden gem Downtown. Mostly older locals and visitors to the Drury Inn realize Lombardo's even exists. I've never been for lunch, but dinner has always been an excellent experience in every measure. Prices are right for formal dining, but don't expect to feed the family on a budget.

Last year my girlfriend at the time was working in St. Louis and I decided to keep her company for the weekend. After walking around and seeing the arch and the court houses we ended up back at union station. We asked the concierge for some where that was close to eat but would fill us up and he recommended Lombardo's Trattoria. They had a special appetizer which was a special ravioli it was browned in butter with a truffled ricotta. We also had the stuffed calamari which was extremely tender and flavorful. For the entree I had the pepper steak and she had the chicken gorgonzola and I must admit hers was better than mine. On less you are truly a pepper fan I would not select it. It was spicy and when I say spicy it was burned my tongue and nose, but once you get past the spice and you get to the steak it self. It was perfectly cooked and the meat was tender. All and all a great experience combined with their great selection of wines. It would get a 5 star review account for the price and location it drops down to a 4 star.

Lombardo's is my go-to place for Italian in a city with a wealth of Italian restaurants. Stick with the original downtown location. It's quite a bit better than the one out by the airport. The place is easy to miss. It's in the basement of the Drury Inn, a building that used to be the YMCA. The food here is wonderful, the wine list is extensive and bargain priced, and the service is top flight.
