El Burro Loco, is a new Mexican restaurant located in the former Pasta House on North Euclid in the Central West End. Since I am in walking distance, I have seen work happening on this place for sometime and have been looking forward to the opening. I had a chica in town from Toronto, so we were pleased with the idea of catching up over heavily poured tequila drinks and not needing to catch a cab back to the crib! We arrived an hour before closing so we knew whatever we did it would need to be quick. Immediately we took a look at the menu. It's in the cool shape of a taco; one side is a list of drinks and the other side is the food items. So you know what we did right? You guessed it, right to the drinks side!!! The wait staff was extremely attentive. They explained the difference between all the drinks and I chose to go with organic tequila in a drink called Chupacabra Margarita. My waiter said he would make it "extra good" for me and boy he must have. I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol anyway and after two sips I knew it was going to be a good night (I could hear the new Pitbull & Ne-Yo song - Time Of Our Life playing in the back of my head "I'ma gonna get loooooose tonight" youtube.com/watch?v=bTXJ… ). We received standard chips and salsa and it was good. Nothing amazing but definitely not the worst I have had. We put our orders in and then all of a sudden a bunch of people just came in. The staff went to work - it was way busy for Thursday night (I guess because the weather had just broken and we were all tired of being in the house). Food came really quickly. I ordered a two-taco fish platter that came with refried beans (no pork or beef in them) and rice (flavorful and season well but included peas and carrots). I was happy to see they'd already added the lettuce to the taco instead of just giving me a bed of lettuce; also, the sour cream and guacamole that I ordered on the side came in little warm containers and were very plentiful and they didn't skimp on them like other places do. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, though a tad bit salty for my liking. Overall, the food was flavorsome and the drinks were generously poured. They even stayed open later as more people came in near to closing time. I have a strong love of Mexican food so I try to spread my dollars around but I will undoubtedly be back. My birthday happens to fall near a huge Mexican holiday and I'm sure this place will be packed; it'll be packed in the summer and it'll be packed in general because of the attentive service and good food. Get a drink and bring a friend!!!

Eat here once a week because we can walk home . The guys that run it- Fernando, Flacco and company act like every guest is family and the fiesta never stops. We've tried 20 different things and never once been disappointed. Their house margarita stands up to most Mexican restaurants premium. It's an event so be prepared...

Everything at this restaurant was SPECTACULAR!! Chicken with ham and pineapple on it....yes, please!! The chips were yummy! The food was divine. The service was awesome. My Diet Coke was refilled constantly, which made me very happy. I cannot wait to go back!!

Margs were great, salsa was not some awful tomato paste concoction, and was fresh but flavors were melded. Colorful decor. HUGE selection of items. Fajitas were yumba.

The food here is amazing!! I was walking around the neighborhood after work...I'm staying at The Chase down the street. So I checked the Yelp reviews before actually ordering and they were spot on this time. My mouth is digging it from the chips & guac to my enchiladas (pastor and beef). I try to visit different local establishments when traveling and will definitely be back and encourage you to try them too.

This has to be one of the happiest restaurants to go to in St. Louis. If you're feeling down, come here with some friends or even by yourself and you're bound to feel better after, alcohol or not. I've been here a couple of times, and the most recent time was for my girlfriend's birthday celebration with a relatively big group of people (10+). There are no better restaurants to go to for festive occasions than Mexican restaurants, and el Burro Loco is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. There were two people going around from table to table singing and playing Mexican songs, some more recognizable than others. My girlfriend didn't want them to know it was her birthday but someone at the table told them and later on in the night they came to our table and gave us maracas and put sombreros on everyone's head and sang and played music. They even gave her a shot of tequila. The atmosphere was great. I've been to Mexico a couple of times and this place feels like you're in Mexico. Happy people all around!. Can't help but put a smile on your face. The food is very good and tastes authentic. Even with a large group of people, the food came out super fast. If you're here to drink there are plenty of options. Plenty of margarita options made both on the rocks and frozen. And of course... tequila shots! The one slight negative is that they messed up someone's drink order, but that is understandable since there were a lot of people in our party.

Not a bad attempt at Mexican lunch. The location is a cursed spot. This CWE address seems to always house a restaurant and they always seem to close shop. I think this venture will be more successful because, come on, who doesn't like tacos? The decor is spirited and dramatic for the typical burrito joint. The menu is in the shape of a multi-layered quesadilla. The service was on the ball and quick to re-fill our drinks. I ordered the carnita torta. This was a n honest sandwich for a stellar ($9) price. The meat was good and all of the other topping which come on a torta were solid. I thought the combo platters may have been limited. The bar looked large and well suited for a happy hour if my lunch had taken a different turn. Good stuff. I hope it survives the curse of 1313 Euclid.

Amazing margaritas made by the very friendly Fernando! Lots of different flavored to choose from...we tried the traditional like and strawberry but I would definitely venture out to the different flavors. The watermelon margarita was my favorite while my boyfriends was the tamarindo margarita, we also really enjoyed the hibiscus marg. Also must try the carnitas fajitas!

Anyone want TRUE mexican flavor, commida and flare from way South of the border? This is it. My wife (Mexican) and I finally found a spot for the real deal. Service - A+, Cleanliness - A+, reservations - Yes, Food, yum, yum and more yum (for the real Mexican inside of you of course. The owners are four brothers and one cousin. They have brought to the CWE what it needed - Mexican food created and served by expert chefs and served by humble servers FROM THE HOMELAND! You will not be disappointed. - Jean-Paul & Alea

My girlfriend and I went for lunch on St. Patrick's Day . . . thinking this would be a good day to go. We were first seated in the "sun room," but there was an AFLAC presentation going on in the middle of the room with a huge table, so my girlfriend asked for us to be seated elsewhere. And we got a nice table in the interior. Nice atmosphere. All the walls are sponge painted different colors that blend well with the art. Don't bother going to the website. St. Louis is not even listed. We got warm chips and two vessels of salsa immediately, which helps on the double-dipping situation. The salsa was tasty, tangy and chunky. The chips were salted perfectly. My girlfriend ordered guacamole for us to share, and it came quickly. So we enjoyed that along with our chips. Gads, was that guac tasty. Pretty chunky. With onions and tomatoes. The menu (shaped like a taco) is huge in offerings. We both went for the lunch combo ($7.99). My girlfriend got a chicken enchilada and a beef "uh-oh, I forgot." I got a beef chalupa and a cheese enchilada. They both came on large platters with beans and rice, and some nice accoutrements of lettuce and skinned tomato. I'm not usually a beans-and-rice person, but these tasted especially good. The beans had a nice melted cheese on top. The rice was reddish, so something was added to it, which enhanced the flavor a lot. The enchilada was full of gooey cheese. And the chalupa, even though covered with plenty of sauce and other rather watery things, remained crisp, and there was a generous amount of ground beef. The food was deliciously fresh. Service was attentive. We both had a generous to-go vessel of another meal.

We will go back! Freshest chile relleno in town. We went on Saturday about 6p with my two kids and husband. We ordered a pitcher of Cadillac margaritas which were surprisingly citrus tasting. Chips are a little thick for my hubby. We had the table side guacamole, which was okay. My hubby got the pork burritos which he said were okay but he would probably order something else the next time. The kids got quesadillas and elota (corn). I got the combo with chile relleno and enchilada. The chile relleno was so fresh! The best I have had in St. Louis. Also, we asked and they do serve horchata - another one for the plus column. I also agree with many commenters, the staff was really good. They were very quick to complete requests for booster seats and other extras. We will go back for sure as it is the closest Mexican place to our house and we did find some gems in the menu.

We stopped in here on a trip down from Chicago. Everything was outstanding. The service was exceptional, with a personal touch from every server we met. The food was so delicious, as were the margaritas, piña coladas, and queso dip. We started off loving the food, but soon ended up having a very nice conversation with several of the servers. They made us feel very welcome and made our dinner such a fun experience. Highly recommend.

This place was awesome! Sat on the patio with my 6 mo old son and another couple. Food was fast, fresh and hot and the service was also top notch. The mariachi player was really where it was at though -- he took requests and had my son in a trance with his song. Really a great place for families and I'm sure for happy hour too. I ordered the taco salad and the shell was shaped like a taco instead of a bowl, which was different, but the kitchen also accommodated my vegetarian spin on it and grilled fajita veggies for me which was a nice touch. Since we ate outside, I didn't look too much inside but the atmosphere was nice and of course good for people watching on the street. I would definitely go back.

Great service! Have been there twice and friends and I have been all pleased with what we have ordered of food and drinks. Camarones Diablo dish is delicious as well as fish tacos. The selection of tequila and mezcal are also really good. Will definitely visit many more times!

We just stopped here for chips and salsa. My boyfriend did end up eating a fabulous chicken and steak burrito covered in queso with beans and rice! Chips were a bit too thick for me, I like them thinner. Salsa was just ok. The reason to go here are the margaritas! Mike got. 32 oz house margarita frozen (13.95)and it was sooo good! You could see the gran marnier laying on top. I got the blackberry marg 18 oz (8.95) Sooo good and great prices. They had specials of blackberry, prickly pear, banana and papaya besides original, peach, mango, strawberry flavors. We will be back!!

Just not that spectacular. Average Mexican fare. Parking is less than convenient and the walk to and from the street park was more interesting than the food. They do have good food, its just normal. Service is normal. Prices are so-so for what you get.

There chips n salsa were really good! Good selection of margs. All the food sounded and looked good! I had carnitas chimichanga it was delicious, and my wife had the fajitas those were awesome! Highly recommend this place for sure. Lots of room for party's too

So so good! Chips and salsa were on point! I had a peach frozen margarita, so good with a fair amount of tequila! For dinner, the Pollo Loco is where it is at! Some of the best chicken with a creamy queso sauce on top! Put it into a warm flour tortilla with rice and beans and wammo, your taste buds a joyfully dancing. I will be coming back!

Been here twice now and I definitely see myself being a frequent customer! Great authentic Mexican food and such a friendly staff each time I come in. I love their chips and salsa.. Great guacamole as well. Definitely something I look for in every Mexican restaurant experience. First time I was there I had the carne asada and it was AMAZING! Very flavorful and the meat wasn't too thin or dry. The margaritas are also yummy and totally worth getting.

I love Mexican restaurants . . . always have and always will! I dont like REAL Mexican food, but American Mexican food. El Burro Loco - new Mexican restaurant at 313 North Euclid Avenue in the Central West End . . . AMAZING!!!! I've been three times and will be going again this coming Saturday for their fajitas. Great tasting, large quantity, and truly deliicious. I keep getting the chicken fajitas, but know I need to expand my dining options. They offer great service and beyond friendly to everyone who enters the restaurant. With the patio at the front of the restaurant, this place will be jumping when it gets warmer. They have a great front dining room with floor to ceiling glass so you can watch those walking down Euclid and you much on your chips/salsa. Next time you are craving great American Mexican food - you MUST try El Burro Loco! Chances are I'll see you there.

The staff, with the heart of all that is noble in the service industry, was eager and excited to have us as guests (there were three of us) and if I had to rate the restaurant solely on enthusiasm, it'd be much higher. Alas, a restaurant is so much more... If you've not been to a Mexican restaurant since 1983, you'll be dazzled by the free chips & salsa, the offer of table-side guacamole, frozen margaritas and a menu so laden with misspellings that you even question your pigeon Spanish, you'll think you've discovered Los Shangri-La. If you've been to any Mexican restaurant since or even in the last twelve months, you'll be bored to muerte before they sit you in the dining chairs angled specifically to get you in & out quickly. Boring sauce-heavy food, tacky-even-for-a-Mexican-restaurant decór, half-wit servers, and, just like your local Denny's, you get to pay "up front". What?!? I can pay my bill AND get a toothpick?!!? Si, señor. Stay away. Ill-conceived and poorly executed. Oh...and I'm looking forward to my fingers being swollen to the size of Teotihuacan tomorrow from all the salt.

The best service in the CWE. And best Margarita in St. Louis. Real ingredients and no generic mixes. Real people, real food and a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back. Best all around Mexican place in St. Louis.... Maybe the world.

Stopped in on a Tuesday evening and had dinner at the bar. Ordered a cold beer and the steak fajitas. Fajitas were very good. Only real complaints are that that there was no sour cream served with the fajitas and the there were not enough of the tiny tortillas for the copious fajita ingredients. Overall, very good fajitas!!

We went tonight after they only opened 5 days ago. The place was packed and they handled it like pros. Food was great & fairly priced. By far the best shrimp quesadilla in STL I have had. I also recommend the strawberry margarita on the rocks, not too sweet its just perfect! I can not wait to go back

If you are looking for world class Mexican food, this isn't it. If you are looking for grubby well made Mexican food, this is a good spot. We had the steak fajitas, that were well seasoned. The chimichangas and enchiladas were also good. The beans and tortillas were fine, but generic. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. Overall, given the dearth of Mexican options in the stl, this place rates highly and is a welcome addition to the CWE.

The best part was the service. The staff is amazing: attentive, friendly, and very fast, the kind of people you wish you could tip 100%. The food isn't mind-blowingly unique, but it is very good. I had steak tacos, and the steak was seasoned to perfection. The portions were very generous-- I couldn't finish my two tacos, which came with rice and beans. I highly recommend this steak. The girlfriend got two tacos as well: one carnitas, one with chorizo. She said they were very delicious, especially the carnitas. The margaritas were also great. Margaritas are often too sweet for me, but their house margaritas, which come topped with a layer of citrus slices, are very flavorful without being overloaded with sugar. Very well done. I wish I remembered our waiter's name, so I could praise him specifically. He was great.

Barely opened. Had to crack a couple of tequila bottles open for us, but wow. Found my new go to in my home area. That is, until you all find it. Nice people, great quality. Quality extends beyond the standards to a strong chicken soup. Glad I got a walk in bar stool. Won't be able to soon. This place is cute. Mi ranchiti cute with a common vibe. Though more tequila ish here. Love it. Will be a weekly haunt

Great, fun new place. I've seen some complaints about things but I don't get them. The staff was attentive and good. The food was very tasty. The drinks were well portioned (meaning generous) and good quality. This place should thrive. I can't wait for warm weather and go here again.

We went there last night. The service was flawless. We were totally blown away. The staff was happy and friendly and attentive. The salsa was very good. My margarita was awesome and my food was tasty and reasonably-priced. 5 stars for my first time to this place. Will totally be back soon.

Service was spot on and the ambiance was neat but the food was blah. I got the lunch special- the rice, beans were tasteless; chile relleno was a cheesy fried disaster and al pastor taco was ok but overall greasy with mainly inedible fatty pork in it. Prices were reasonable but I will not return

Awesome place with awesome staff. The house margarita was large and delicious. I loved the fresh fruit garnish. The guac was creamy and fresh with a little tomato & onion garish but not enough to take away from the pure avocado flavor. Thumbs up! The salsa was minced and slightly spicy which, from a chunky SPICY lover, should appeal well to a large crowd. Def had a lot of flavor. I enjoyed my lead-up to the meal so much that I asked my server to choose my meal. The steak and shrimp dish he chose was well cooked, properly seasoned and delicious. Awesome place all around. I'm only in St Louis for two days but I will certainly be back.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Best Mexican food ever! I loved the fajitas for two and the tequila choices are amazing. Margarita are big and awesome!! The waiters are phenomenal and so nice

Great food and amazing service! We came in late and were greeted with a smile and wonderful service. The house made guacomole was outstanding! Highly recommended!
