It is always good. I like the atmosphere and the food. On a nice evening the patio is a must. They have a light menu if you're counting calories

Yes, please. I'd love to go to Brio. Anytime. Any day. For any reason. I love eating here. I feel sort of rich, eating at a place next door to Saks Fifth Avenue...and while the menu prices tell me I'm splurging, my taste buds sassily reply who cares. Every meal I've eaten is tasty. The service is always prompt and attentive. So it's worth a little splurge every now and then. You'll enjoy a little bit of Italy when you visit, even though it's a chain. Dine outside on the patio, if the weather is nice, and enjoy the soothing sounds of the highway. Ok. That's a drawback, but hey, it's a patio!

I mainly come here for happy hour, Monday-Friday 330-630. Prices starting at $4- you can't beat that! I love the outdoor dining with the bar top tables and nice and mature atmosphere. I have been coming here for quite some time and this place is very consistent with good food!! I'll keep coming back everytime for good food :)

One challenge with being gluten-free is finding restaurants that have adapted menu selections to suit our needs. Brio has done so. Tonight I enjoyed a petit filet, mashed potatoes, and tasty roasted vegetables. The meal was very good. Our servers were attentive and well mannered. The atmosphere was a little loud...mostly due to the TV volume in the adjacent bar (Golden Globes and NFL Playoffs). But, overall a satisfactory experience once again.

There are two occasions when my wife and I go to Brios. On a Saturday date night after seeing a movie at Frontenac Plaza. And on Sunday early evenings when we want to take the family out to some place a bit more upscale. We like the atmosphere, we like the food and the service has always been stellar. The noise level depends on when you go. We tend to go on the early or late side of dinner. Our favorite item on the menu is the Shrimp Mediterranean.

Was here last night and over the years I've been here too many times to count. It's a great location and easy, and THAT is why it's successful. Food and service are completely mediocre and always have been. The servers always rush you and try to clear your plates too soon and have often been annoyed when adults don't order cocktails and god forbid, you want refills on water more than once. Location, Location, Location!

My friends at work (connoisseurs of good food in the St. Louis area) introduced me to yet another very nice restaurant and that's Brio's!! I like everything about it - starting from the complimentary bread and chips to the bruschetta, pasta and salads !! Beautiful place.. The service adds to the charm !!

I have had a good experience the few times I have been here. Except yesterday. We went for dinner at 7 and our food took about an hour or more to come out. One of us ordered a salad and when we asked around the hour mark if our food was going to be coming she said she didn't want to rush us because he got that salad, then she said it was because of something else...which didn't make sense either. The waitress didn't bring me a refill of my drink I had to ask her. She did bring me a refill without asking after we were all done with dinner and we were paying (to make up for forgetting earlier). I didn't need it and it was wasted. I didn't even accept it as I don't want to waste food. She asked if we wanted more bread, we said yes (because dinner was taking so long) but then she forgot to bring it and I had to ask her for the bread again. She forgot to bring a side we asked for with dinner. We had to remind her. The restaurant was half full so I am not sure what the problem was. Every time I asked her for something for the second time she kept saying, "of course that would be my pleasure" as if I didn't already request it?? weird. If it was busy, ok, but it was half empty. The food was still good that's why I still gave it 3 stars but the service was very poor yesterday. I am not sure I will go back. I actually think it was the longest I ever waited for food. Oh well.

Love going here for happy hour or dinner! Great patio with fans to beat the StL heat! Also...very accomodating at this location. I like the Veal Milanese but with mixed greens instead of pasta! they'll modify the menu to suit your taste!

Always a deliciously, prepared meal at this particular Brio Tuscan Grille. The local General manager of this location deserves full credit for this location's success. He is either at the door greeting, at your table checking on your satisfaction or in the kitchen preparing the staff (and meals!) the service is exceptional and the staff is well-mannered and well-trained, in fact, they take pride in their work and it shows. I give this place FIVE stars because of the quality and consistency of the level of food and service. The place is beautifully decorated and while the attire is casual, the clientele prefers to be casually elegant. If this place hasn't won any awards, I'd be surprised. It's everything I want in a dining experience. The bar is fabulous! The outside dining is exquisite and you feel as though you are dining in a park rather than at one of the busiest intersections in Frontenac & Ladue. Always clean, always fresh, always exceptional! If you tried other Brio locations, don't miss this one, it is the shining star, the flagship, if you will, of their restaurant fleet!

We go to Brio every year for Christmas shopping ,kind of a tradition for my husband and I , as usual the food was perfect however the service left a lot to be desired. it was very slow we probably Sat for 5 to 10 minutes before we were even asked if we wanted a drink then the waiter came by and asked me if I wanted a refill on my coffee and totally ignored my husband's empty glass of soda. the meal took at least half an hour to get and we saw the waiter maybe once I will go there again only because it's tradition but if the service keeps up that way we may have to find someplace new

We picked this place for an early dinner based on the number of 5-star reviews from friends. Definitely a good choice! Funny thing is that Aimee K wrote about how it is a heavy meal unless you have a salad and a flat bread. What's funny about this is that I didn't read her review until after I had ordered and usually like a heavy meal...but had ordered a salad and a flatbread. The wedge salad was fantastic! Beautifully crisp lettuce, generous amounts of Gorgonzola, perfectly ripe tomatoes and a creamy dressing that really pulled it all together. The waiter and the kitchen both accommodated my request to go easy on the pepperoni for the pepperoni, sausage and ricotta flatbread. I really enjoyed the spiciness of the sausage where pieces of fennel were evident (my favorite aspect of Chicago-style Italian sausage) and not quite enough ricotta. Very crispy crust and an all-around great flatbread. The wife had something loaded with horrible mushrooms that she thoroughly enjoyed and I didn't try. She opted for the bread pudding for dessert and I managed to pinch exactly two bites. Really delicious and I enjoyed the addition of butterscotch to the dish. It just seemed to add another layer of flavor. We will have to go there again when I am up for a heavy meal. I had my eye on the lobster and shrimp fettucini and the center-cut pork chops...

After a long, gray winter, I especially appreciated the large, well lit dining room. I had a lunch reservation for a group of six. We were seated as we arrived, rather than waiting for the full party to be present. Loved the fact that the gluten-free menu was laid on top of the regular menu, I didn't have to ask for it. Service by Ian P. was flawless. I enjoyed the Chicken Limone, great lemon and capers flavor. The potatoes were very good, and roasted vegetables just perfect. Everyone at the table enjoyed his or her plate. Excellent service, lunch menu, and dining space.

Sweet cucumber basil gimlet, I'm in love! Best drink I've had in a long time. Wedge salad was generous and well dressed, with lots of cheese and tomatoes. For dinner I ordered the mushroom ravioli...homemade pasta with mushroom filling and more mushrooms in a creamy sauce. I'm in mushroom heaven. I love mushrooms, but I am the only one in the family who does so I don't cook with them at home. As a result, I try to order them often in restaurants that seem to be able to do them justice. Brio did not disappoint. Dessert was a bread pudding with butterscotch sauce. This was like no other bread pudding - it was thinner, no raisins (a good thing), and served with butterscotch rather than bourbon. I rather enjoyed the departure from tradition. It was thin enough that it didn't have that mushy pudding-like texture in the middle, and you could really taste the rum in the sauce. Service was the well-oiled machine that one would expect in a top-notch place such as this. Overall experience made for a great date night!

I met a girlfriend for dinner. I arrived first, and was seated right away. Paul C. was our server. I had a card for a free appetizer, but it had expired. I asked if they would still honor it. Paul said yes. Good show! We got beef carpaccio. It was paper-thin sliced meat with capers and mustard aioli. Complemented by nicely dressed field greens. This is an appetizer to share. It was absolutely delicious. My dining partner had never had carpaccio, and she loved it. We both opted for one of their specials: a 5-ounce fillet with a crab and lobster cake for $26. It came with garlic mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrot, red pepper strips and zucchini) and that wonderful parmesan-encrusted tomato that comes with many Brio dishes. This was a plateful of food. And it was all fabulous. The steak was cooked perfectly (rare to medium-rare). The crab and lobster cake was rich, contained very little filler and sat in a tasty sauce of some type. The potatoes were well-peppered, so they didn't just look like a lump of white on the plate. The vegetables were well-seasoned. And I just love that tomato with its crispy outside and perfectly intact tomato. The breadbasket at Brio is always inviting with the seeded flatbread triangles and sourdough bread, along with a plate of butter. Paul was outstanding with his check-ins to ensure all was going well. Waters were refilled any time they got to half-full. And he brought over the dessert offerings. We had to decline. I had hefty to-go vessels, including the remaining carpaccio, the bread and butter, and half of my meal. This was stellar from beginning to end.

I love the food, I love the drinks, I love the happy hour. I abhor that I was turned away by both a bartender, and the hostess, during weekday happy hour because the bar was too full. The weather was nice outside but they would not allow me to sit on the empty outdoor patio to be served when the indoor bar had become so full it overflowed with patrons...how would I be expected to eat from those large heavy plates while standing and holding a cocktail? Ridiculous. My money is plenty, I tip 70% always, I eat/drink/and leave inclusively within 20 minutes when I dine alone, but maybe because I was dressed in jeans they all decided that my money was not good enough. I will always dine in jeans, that's what I do. But there was no room at the happy hour, and for the first time in 14 years of being a loyal customer, THEY TURNED ME AWAY!! WOW! So, I went to MORTON'S in Clayton's happy hour, and sat on their patio, enjoying their amazing food and drinks, tipping them my standard 70%. MORTON'S IN CLAYTON HAPPY HOUR IS EXCELLENT~WHAT A WONDERFUL ALTERNATIVE!! My new go-to happy hour. Also, it is much less LOUD at Morton's. If you dine indoors at Brio, wear ear plugs!

The previous reviews were true. It was really loud and the service was not good. The food was ok, but overpriced. They had cloth tablecloths, but covered them in white paper which made they way less classy and my husband got a paper cut. Somehow it was still crowded.

After seeing a very good performance at the Rep, the D's and T's made it back to Brio for dinner with a bottle of a very good 2000 Toscano Alte d'Altesi. It is worth noting that Brio does not charge corkage for the first bottle. The glasses were acceptable. Our server does need a little work on his cork removal skills. This is not the first that we have had recently who broke the cork when the cork was in good condition. They need to learn to be gentle with them until they start to move. Ms T and Ms D had a Tomato Caprese salad that they both liked although the tomatoes were clearly showing that they were out of season and they were stingy with the balsamic. The portion was very good and they were not stingy with the fresh mozzarella. Mr D had the Tomato Bisque and I had the Lobster Bisque. Both were very good. The lobster version was well flavored and rich, with bits of lobster meat. I felt it may have been a little over thickened with a roux or another starch, giving it a bit of a slimy texture, but it was not a serious issue. Ms D ordered Veal Marsala and , Mr D had Veal Milanese. Both were well presented and received solid reviews. The marsala version was a classic style with mushrooms and Fettuccine Alfredo on the side. The Veal Milanese was topped with cherry tomatoes and white wine caper sauce and had roasted potatoes on the side. Ms T chose the Lobster and Shrimp Fettuccine and I was able to snag a spool of the pasta and can say that it was very nicely sauced. The sauce was billed as "spicy lobster" and it was nice to feel a little heat from what was probably cayenne. There were flakes of crushed red chile apparent in the dish. The pasta was properly cooked, there was plenty of seafood and the right amount of sauce. By that I mean it was not drowned. Half of this came home with us. I agonized over the beef, chicken and veal dishes and then veered off course and chose lasagna Bolognese. I love lasagna and this is as good as I have had in a restaurant. The flavors were elegant and well developed. Everything was balanced. In particular it was not covered with an inch of Bechamel, even better, there was none! The texture was tender, there was plenty of very finely ground veal in the meat sauce plus sauce Alfredo and mozzarella. I enjoyed a taste of fennel seed in the meat sauce. The whole thing went very well with the wine. It was a huge serving and I also brought more than half home. I was not sure what to expect from Brio, given that it is part of a giant chain, but we had a very good experience. Many people complain about the prices, but I did not find it to be out of line. Four dinners with soup or salad, wine corkage, coffee and ample servings for about $32 per person is not overpriced. Also consider that Ms T and I made four nice meals from this. The only negative aside from the missing corkage skills, was that the place is very noisy. So while I prefer to go to the one-off places, I could certainly see us going back based on this experience.

I celebrated my birthday here...their accommodation for a party of 12 was top notch. The order came out timely and everything was great. Starter : Lobster and Crab Bisque...mmmmmm! I will have this with each meal going forward. The temperature of the soup was just right and the flavor outstanding. My Meal: Crab and Shrimp Cakes with crispy potatoes and veggies. I ordered the "2" vs "3" and the portion was just right because I had the soup and dessert. If your really hungry, get the "3". Everyone in my party loved their meal. I tried a little bit of my friend's lasagna and OMG...I must have that the next time I visit. I was a little jealous that I didn't order that. Love Brio!

We took our small wedding party here for our wedding reception March 2013. They accommodated 13 of us easily and the only Complaint I have is the noise level in that giant room of theirs. Food was Incredible and perfectly prepared. I recommend the lobster bisque and pork chops from the grill but I've never had a bad dish there. Courteous staff and for a special night out its worth the price.

First visit yesterday for Happy Hour with friends. They were SLAMED! Still, we got a great four-top table and had Outstanding Service and Food at CHEAP Prices. I know it's Happy Hour that keeps the prices low, but the good was a great value. How they were ever able to serve so many people such great, hot food, so quickly is beyond my imagination. We WILL be back!

Went with the wife and dear friends to Brio. The outside drink area was just jumping with energy and people having a happy happy hour or two. We had a fine waiter Brian who was outstanding. You come here and want to try different things and I thought what the heck I will go to Brio's and have steak. Somehow this made total sense to me at the time. Don't know why I got it after looking at the the pasta dishes that were well priced. For starters I had the minestrone soup. It was vegetable soup no meat. Boy it was nice. Really enjoyed it. I don't know if you know this or not but when you turn 60 there is a rule that you must order soup with your meal. Just letting you all know. The strip steak was served with gorgonzola cheese on top. Brian the server asked me to cut the steak to make sure it was cooked to my liking. I being an obtuse old man said nah it will be fine. And it was. The biggest surprise I had with my steak was the grilled vegetables. Oh my! had the grill flavor and a touch of garlic. No room for desert but did get a nice show from Brian on all the options. Did a nice job but too full to partake.

Yes, yes, and more yes. I love dinners at Brio... they are few and far between because a) I'm rarely in the area, and b) they are heavy, heavy meals (salads and flatbreads not included.) But if I'm going to go to an Italian restaurant, I'm going to get pasta. My favorite thing to order at Brio is the mushroom ravioli... I am not sure I can really describe just how good it is. The soft ravioli are filled with a blend of mushrooms and cheese, and the whole thing is covered with cream sauce and cheese, and baked until it's boiling hot and brought to your table. It's seriously heaven on a plate, and it's my favorite meal when I want something hearty and satisfying. Brio is fun because you can have dinner AFTER you sit at the bar and enjoy a signature martini! The patio is really beautiful and it's fun to sit outside if the weather is cooperating. The staff is always on top of it and very friendly, and they just don't take any shortcuts at Brio. Yeah, it's a chain, but I never say no when someone wants to grab a meal here.

Pretty delicious stuff ... My favorite menu is the lighter option and gluten free choices ... I'm no regular but I like to eat here frequently ... The desserts are not good at all, they are cute though ! Don't forget to have a mint on the way out.

This is going to be a two part review. My date and I started at the very crowded bar for their happy hour specials around 5:30pm on a Friday. Great food and drink deals and a really attentive but not overbearing barstaff. We moved on to dinner without a reservation at about 6:30. Not making a reservation was a HUGE mistake. We were told our wait would be about an hour and it turned into about an hour and a half. Our fault, but still a long time. Our waitress seemed pretty unenthusiastic about our presence once we told her we wouldn't be ordering additional drinks. The food came quickly and was hot and satisfying but not outstanding. Waitress stopped making eye contact once our entrees were served. Overall we would come back to grab a drink and happy hour special at the bar, but probably won't dine in the main restaurant again.

Normally LOVE this place but made a reservation last weekend and got seated 30 minutes after our time! We got there 20 minutes early to get a drink at the bar and they kept telling us 5 more minutes. Very disappointing.

We dined here due to our inability to get into the restaurants at the mall and I'm glad that we tried it. The atmosphere was pretty loud but not overbearing, after all it was a Saturday night. We started off with roasted red pepper bruschetta and it was delicious. I had the Veal Milanese with a side of fettuccini and it was very good -- thin and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The service was friendly and efficient -- overall a very good experience.

Brio's in Frontenac is pretty good. Their food's a little pricey, the inside's a bit pretentious (it is Frontenac / "Lah-due" after all), but the patio saves the day. The restaurant evokes images of a palatial Tuscan villa (an oxymoron if ever there was one), but they've definitely toned down the Italian flavor for the American palate once you survey the menu. When you enter they give you the option of dining in the wide, airy (unusually noisy) dining room that's partitioned off by chest high dividers creating various walkways, the bar area (it's a round island style bar), or if the weather's nice the patio. Go for the patio, people, go for it! The patio's much more laid back, quieter and infinitely more enjoyable than the main dining room, which gets a little more than chaotic when they get really busy. Once seated a bread basket containing flatbreads and warm Sourdough bread will be delivered to the table before taking your order. The menu is what you might expect for Americanized-Italian: bruschettas and flatbreads abound, classic chopped and Caesar salads are available (as well as some more exotic ones), and pastas, risottos, "chicken under a brick" and paninis are all readily available. Heavy emphasis on the pasta combos. And the portion sizes? Ahem... generous, to say the least. I usually opt to split a salad since half portions of anything are strictly verboten. My first choice was a safe one: the Romano crusted chicken salad, then I graduated to the Tuscan harvest salad, the Tricolor and the strawberry balsamic chicken. Of those salads, I generally favor the Tuscan one since it has all kinds of goodies packed into it: mushrooms, bacon, almonds, apples and cranberries in addition to the chicken. The salads are good - but really, it takes a special restaurant to really screw up a salad, doesn't it? And the prices for everything match the portions pretty well - on the larger side. Brio's is certainly a good choice (especially if you've got people to impress or pickier eaters), but it's not at the top of my list of restaurants to frequent.

I dined here over a year ago for a Sunday brunch/early lunch (seated in the dining room). The service was top-notch and the dishes were simple, yet tasty. It was with that experience in mind that I came here earlier this week for a light dinner and libation before attending an author reading at the St. Louis County Library across the street. I'm happy to report that Brio's standards had not slipped between my visits. The list of wines by the glass is accessible and by no means overwhelming. The house red Cab that I ordered was the perfect pour to complement my dinner selections--tomato florentine soup and extra-thin crust margherita pizza. Portions are reasonable and not gut-busting, with price points to match. Service in the main dining area was very prompt, without feeling rushed. We initially wanted to sit at the bar but were deterred by the SRO setup--our server later mentioned that Brio runs a martini special on Wednesday, which likely accounted for the press of people at the bar. Even with the new restaurants (BrickTops and St. Louis Bread Co) that have come up around Frontenac, I'm confident that Brio's consistently solid service and quality will ensure the continued viability of this spot.

I usually really enjoy dining at Brio. In the past I have really loved their Lasagna and Lobster Ravioli. I have had many great experiences at this location so I decided to take a couple of friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. The food was outstanding (had Pasta Brio) this time but our waiter lacked so much personality. I told him I had gotten a coupon for Bruschetta for signing up for email but he didn't believe me. It seems like he would know what was currently being offered at a place as nice as Brio. I had to ask for more water and for more bread. He barely spoke and we were being quite charming. I felt badly that I had to leave him a tip because he certainly didn't deserve it. Tip: Ladies who lunch want a waiter with a personality. I will just have to continue to go with my husband who would rather the waiter never come back to the table and take my lady friends to a place who wants the lunch business.

Some of the best Lasagna Bolognese anywhere! They have a large open dining area. The place looks nice, but you'd feel comfortable coming here whether you're in jeans or dress pants. There is ample outdoor dining complete with bocci ball. Very good prices for the quality and quantity of food you receive. I think my lunch-sized lasagna with chopped salad was only $12.95. It's difficult for me to comment on much more than the lasagna bolognese. It's so very good here, I have a hard time straying from ordering the same thing every time. I will add, however, that they have tasty bellinis, which you can order by the pitcher.

Brio is a solid performer and they do many things right. I applaud them for the light menu where items are under 500 calories. I had the veggie pasta and substituted whole wheat pasta. It was well done and was the perfect amount not too big. The crowd was big for a Monday night and everyone around me appeared to be enjoying themselves. The location is first rate and couldnt be more convenient in this town. My only critism is the wine list. The wine is poor at best and they hide behind Italian wine that no one knows for the most part. I think they do this on purpose so they can charge excessive prices for marginal wine. You get a cheap glass but it will be really cheap ass wine. Bring your own if you like good wine.

I'm a once a year Brio regular. My family is stuck on going here during the Christmas holiday. A couple things to clear up about this place: the staff are always excellent and the food is solid higher-end food. Always dependable. If its not right they'll make it right. The decor of Brio says, "I'm a classy Tuscan restaurant." The volume around dinner time however is obnoxious. I suppose it speaks to their popularity but it presents an obstacle when attempting to speak to one another. Perhaps that is part of the reason I keep suggesting we go elsewhere. My foodie uncle from California swears by their Carpaccio plate and several of my relatives regularly order the pork chops and lasagna. On my most recent visit I had the shrimp orzo and it was excellently prepared. Seasoned well and cooked right. I think you can have an excellent time at Brio, I would just recommend you come with a smaller party.

We had a Sunday lunch here and it was ok, nothing great. Maybe I'm spoiled since I live in Chicagoland, where there are plenty of fabulous restaurants. We were celebrating an upcoming wedding and they seated us at a round table with a nearby spot to place the gifts on. That table was almost an afterthought, crammed in the corner, just like us. The service was ok, but she could have really done more with recommendations and just doing things like taking about plates and glasses faster. We had a drink spill while the bride to be was trying to open a gift. There just wasn't enough room. I had a hard time ordering because they use lots of sauces and I have a dairy allergy. Yes, it's a pasta place, so you have sauce there, but many of the breakfast entrees are saucy as well. I ordered a salad which was fine. The other people in my party ordered breakfast and lunch items. I didn't hear any raves about it. Overall I was a bit disappointed here. My sister picked it out, so it wasn't my choice, but given that it was in the Plaza Frontenac area, I just expected more.

I love the interior decor, helpful and friendly staff, and the healthy food they offer. My whole family went there recently to enjoy a sunday afternoon meal. I've been a waiter at several restaurants in the past, and they are more than fulfilling in attentiveness and delivering the ultimate dining experience. Now Hopefully my mother won't read this review or take it the wrong way. I love you Mom! She is funny, laughs a lot, Italian, and como se dice? not one that's easily pleased in a restaurant. Yes, I was a waiter for you Mom! ha! Well, She absolutely adored the place, we each had the Harvest Spinach Salad and had the dandiest time together. We drove off into the sunset and went grocery shopping at global foods. Oh Brio! You make me so happy! At 32, that was the best dining experience I've ever had with my Mother!! thank you so much!

Celebrated my birthday with my family @ Brio this weekend. Service, I'd give 3/5 stars and food 3/5. Service: Service here is almost always perfect- quick, friendly, knowledgeable and more than willing to accommodate any needs. Last night they were a little off as our server was busy accommodating a large party of ~15. We had finished our appetizer and still had not ordered our entree. In fact, we waited a good 20 mins for him to return to take our order. I think we went through 2 or 3 bread baskets while we waited... Food: Beef Carpaccio- Excellent! Out of all the appetizers, this is probably my favorite. Fresh beef and greens and I love the capers in this dish. It gives a nice tangy kick. Lobster Bisque- Was a bit too rich (too much cream) for my liking. However, I did appreciate the amount of lobster in the bisque. Tomato Bisque- One word. Delicious! Roasted Lamb Chops- Beautiful presentation and more food than your stomach knows what to do with it. Although a little on the salty end, the lamb chops were grilled well. The wine veal sauce complimented the meat perfectly. Sweet Potato & Chicken Risotto- Again, a little on the salty end, but the risotto was creamy on the tongue and chicken fell apart in your mouth. Father ordered a 5oz filet cooked medium well and when received, was clearly overcooked. He complained that the meat was too tough to enjoy but didn't want to complain to the server as the server seemed to be overwhelmed with the large party of ~15. I've been here enough times to know what to expect and what to order. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant and the decor, however the price point is a little high . A nice place for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend the beef carpaccio & seared shrimp risotto.

It doesn't make sense for me to like Brio---at first glance, it appears to be everything I don't like in a chain. First of all, it's a chain. Second, it's decor is somewhat formulaic and contrived. Third, it's terrifically loud, with conviviality cut with a dash of squealing child. But, I met a friend for dinner there last night and was served up exactly what I wanted----a nice big booth, time for chatting, and absolutely no pressure to order more than I wanted. Friend and I just weren't that hungry. I blame that on the horrific run of hot weather in St. Louis and on the fact that friend had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory (!). So, the two of us each had a glass of wine and each ordered an enormous $4.95 Tuscan Salad and that was it. I apologized to the server since we were there at the very beginning of the dinner rush. She was friendly, gracious, and even brought us over a little dish of flavored olive oil to accompany the complimentary bread. The salad was delicious, the bread delectable, the chilean sauvignon blanc refreshing, and the hospitality impeccable. So, I will be back---I hear Brio has a rockin' happy hour.

Delicious food and drinks! I come here when I want to go somewhere very nice. It's pretentious, but as I said, it's a nice place to go for a special occasion. I would recommend dressing up a little too. I rarely find people in t-shirts at this place. I also recommend eating outside too.

I went to Brio with a small group from work recently, and we had a lovely dinner on the patio. We opted to avoid the madness of the bar with its crowds and meat market vibe. There are so many cougars here that I wouldn't be surprised to hear David Attenborough narrating a wild life special. I can just hear him now with his regal British accent, talking about how the smell of stripper perfume is mingling with the scent of singles desperation in an elaborate mating ritual. It was a perfect night, and I always forget how large and nice the patio is. Even being on the busy intersection of Lindbergh and Clayton, there are many trees and a lot of green space between the restaurant and the road. We were sat right away and brought water and a bread basket. LOVE the crispy, herbed flatbread. For a cocktail, I have three words: strawberry basil smash. A delicious patio libation, so far tied only with Sub Zero watermelon patio punch. I love every ingredient in this cocktail- bacardi limon, angostura, fresh strawberries, lime juice, prosecco, and lemonade. YUM! I also sampled my friend's ultimate cosmo, which was tasty but a little too neon pink for me, if that makes any sense at all. For dinner, I went light and had the mediterranean shrimp, spicy grilled shrimp over a bed of orzo with grilled veggies and feta. So good, and the perfect portion size. It's hard to be healthy here with the heavier Italian fare they specialize in. I sampled the salmon salad, which was literally the biggest salad I have ever seen in my life. Very tasty, and it had shoestring potatoes on it to boot. French fries on a salad, I like the way they think! Another coworker had pasta in a spicy cream sauce which was so decadent and rich. Happiness all around the table. Service was good, but not always consistent. He started off visiting a little too frequently, every few minutes and we weren't ready for him. By the end of the meal, there were long stretches with no sight of him. But, he was friendly and accurate. This was a good time, and I will be back for more patio and a smash!

I used to go here fairly often - especially when I went shopping at Plaza Frontenac. The service the vast majority of the time was wonderful (every now and again there comes someone who must have been sucking on a lemon that day, ie. sour attitude) and the inside is very nicely arranged. Light and airy and room enough. The two things I want to rave about are their lamb chops! YUM!!! Everything that comes with the lamb complemented it instead of fought for top billing. I believe at one time they had Gorgonzola crusted chops; that was insanely good! The other thing we both loved was their cream of mushroom soup (and sadly it wasn't offered nearly enough to suit me). All I can say for the soup was it was damn good! And you have to do something right to make something as basic as cream of mushroom soup stand out in your mind. When I come home, this will be one of my return visits.

Went here because we had a $15 off coupon. Had the Mediterranean Pasta which was so bland I had to ask the waiter for more for more feta cheese to make it tast better. On the way out SEVEN waiters and waitresses were crowded around the hostess chit chatting. Ridiculous!

This is my second time to eat at Brio. It has been in two different cities and as a whole, the chain has sub par food with poor service. Avoid the eggs benedictano and pollo al forno flatbread. There as too many good Italian place in STL and this place should be avoided.

GOOD STUFF! Amazing seasoned cracker bread ( best eaten with butter). Great Sourdough round bread. If you go on line and join Brio's E-club they will download you a coupon for a free Quattro Bruschetta appetizer ( value $14.95). It has 4 awesome selections with 2 each of Red Pepper- Basil, Tomato- Ricotta cheese, Prosciutto-asparagus, and Steak with Gorganzola, arugula, and fennel. A meal in itself! I had the Strawberry Balsamic Chicken Salad. Mixed greens, grapes, candied pecans, Gorganzola, chicken and strawberries with a vinaigrette dressing. Well blended and nice large portion for a dinner meal. My husband had the Lasagna Bolongnese. It was a huge piping hot portion . Nice ambience and pleasant service made for a 5 star experience...WooHoo! Side note: Brio allows you to bring in your own wine with NO corkage fee, we did it once at a Girl's NIght Out party and sure enough...no problem :) VERY COOL, huh? Last, but not least, they have great Chocolate mini m+m type individually wrapped candies in a large bowl on the way out...well, at least they did til I left. My bad?

We came here after having a really poor experience at Maggianno's. We took a seat on the patio under the overhang. The service was fine, the menu expansive, and food was very nice. I'm not a huge fan of the interior (big noisy room), but we'll be back for the patio again. Thanks Brio.

This is a chain, but the quality is pretty good, the flavors were fresh. My husband's flat bread was good and I enjoyed my chicken picatta. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The reason I'm only giving three stars is the dessert. We ordered a chocolate mousse cake that came to us frozen. It's pretty hard to appreciate the delicate texture of mousse when it's frozen, and for the price of the dessert that is unacceptable in my book.

I love this place, the food is good and the drinks are even better. I never make it beyond the bar area. I always end up eating at the bar so I can not speak of the table service. I hate to make this call out, but anyone who goes here for Happy Hour or anytime for that matter knows it is a true "meat market" and it does not matter which team you play for. So this makes for a very fun and festive night.

I have enjoyed Brio more than most chains that I visit. The environment is nice, nice enough for a first date without being too pretentious. I've only been there a handful of times, including for brunch and lunch, and always get good service. I like the patio area too. For being right on a major intersection, it isn't as loud or unpleasant as you'd think. I always order a salad and the pasta del diavolo, which is a spicy penne type pasta with cheese on top. It's yummy!

Honestly, Brio is average. If you're into grilled or blackened meat, you might like this place a lot. But personally, I like my meat with a bit more flavor to it than just that slightly burned on the outside char-grilled taste. Their apple cider martini was superb, however, and the decor on the inside and out was beautiful. Our waitress was lovely as well. I ordered the bisteca insalata, which was almost the size of half a head of lettuce (literally, it comes as an unchopped half-head of lettuce) with chopped bacon, gorgonzola and a creamy Parmesan dressing. It was delicious and big enough to share. Their portions are huge. For my main course, I had the citrus chicken orzo; grilled chicken seasoned with lemon, orzo pasta and asparagus. It was ok - nothing spectacular as far as the grilled chicken which seemed as if they skimped on the seasoning so it was kind of bland. You can mostly taste the char-grilled flavor. And for dessert I had the tiramisu which never disappoints. The bar area was busy and popular on a Friday night! Make sure you call ahead to make reservations. Most of the patrons were of the older, more affluent- looking crowd, and Caucasian. Think: face lifts and Botox. Just an observation.

We visited Brio for the first time on New Year's Eve and it did not disappoint. It's beautiful inside and we were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation time. Though they were very busy, we found the service to be excellent. Our waiter let us sample of the wine before we committed to the full bottle. He gave us great recommendations and our glasses were always full. We had the bruschetta sampler (excellent), shrimp with orzo (very good and not too rich), lobster and shrimp fettuccine (a great recommendation) and the dessert cup sampler, which was a delicious and fun way to finish out a really great dining experience. We've eaten at plenty of nice places around town; some chain and some independent. I enjoyed this experience much more than dinners out at The Hill or Central West End. It felt like money well spent and not at all stuffy or snobby. We'll be back.

What can I say. I came in to town to entertain and visit with a colleague and friend, his wife and new baby. I called ahead to be sure it was kid friendly and reserved a table. This couple doesn't get out to higher end Italian restaurants since they are newly weds and poor ( weren't most of us!) . They had the table, a swing for the baby. perfect setting. Quiet atmosphere, great waiter, started with bruchetta selection- excellent, some Penfolds Shiraz, ( one of my fav), and between us had crab cakes, lamb chops to die for, and lasagna, and my guests even had the shooter deserts. Fantastic !!! Great choice as I was at the Hilton around the corner and my second time there in 3 years when visiting St Louis. Night life on Friday and Saturdays is upbeat classy, over 25, and the bar is well stocked and some place I like to hang when in. Come hungry, bread mixture is great start, good martini's and wine- what can I say. Love it.

This is a friend's favorite restaurant, and she chose Brio as the location of our first tete-a-tete since I moved back to STL. I read many reviews here on Yelp beforehand, so I felt well-prepared, but not terribly excited. We arrived around 5:45, and the happy hour was hopping. Not my crowd; I used to work at Plaza Frontenac, not hang with Plaza Frontenac. Plenty of seating in the dining room. We ordered cocktails, mine was the Raspberry Mojito, and my friend ordered something custom. They arrived quickly, and although mine was good, I didn't taste any booze. Had I not had a few the night before, I might have pursued this with the waitress. The triangle crispy things were good, as was the warm sourdough. Even though I always eat the bread they bring out at restaurants, I just wish the industry as a whole would stop this practice. It fills you up, you're not hungry when the entree arrives, and you have all sorts of misplaced bullshit carb guilt. Why not bring out some vegetables and salsa or hummus? Just saying. Per a suggestion from another Yelper, I joined Brio's rewards whatever and had the $10 appetizer coupon. We wanted apps from the light menu, which has appetizers and starter salads listed in the same category. The waitress would not accept the coupon for any of the starter salads, saying the computer would not accept said coupon for ANYTHING but a designated appetizer. Splitting hairs like this annoys me, especially when the food is so overpriced. $4.95 - $6.95 for a side salad? Really? At this point, it was becoming obvious that the waitress, for whatever reason, had lost interest in us. I actually began timing how long it took her to come back to the table. Perhaps she saw two women talking and lingering over drinks, so thought we were there for the long haul. We weren't, but the slow-ass service saw to that. When my friend ordered a second drink, it took over 20 minutes for the waitress to bring it. I was scanning the restaurant to find another member of the waitstaff to fetch her when I finally spotted her coming our way. Was it busy? Yeah...but not that freaking busy. It became a game and a source of exasperated humor between my friend and I. When we ordered, the waitress didn't tell us about any specials, so I have no idea if Brio even does specials. I ordered the Pasta Alla Vodka and my friend ordered the Roasted Half Chicken. Many reviews on this site mentioned the massive portions. My friend had a ton of food left over, and I had zero. I tried to keep it light with the bread and appetizers, so that I was hungry for the actual meal, maybe that's it. I do know this: there was not $18.25 worth of anything on that plate. The disappearing waitress act got so bad that my friend spoke with the manager, who recognized her from many previous visits. He was incredibly gracious, apologetic, and comped all of the food on our bill, leaving us with the tab for four drinks. Bottom line: food was fine, service was definitely lacking. I would go back begrudgingly, but it would be someone else's idea and I would try to steer them to another restaurant.

Awesome Mothers Day brunch! Great food, good drinks, and the service was fantastic even though they were really busy. This is a nice place, but you can go pretty casual and not feel out of place. Located on the edge of Plaza Frontenac.

I want to give them 2 and a half stars, their food is really great but that is the only thing they have going for them. Every year their is a group of six of us who go to a nice restaurant for a holiday dinner. I made the reservation about a month in advance with no problems. When we got there, man was it crowded! The table the gave us looked like it was in their main walkway between the two big dinning areas. there wasn't much room for us and I kind of felt in the way. Plus I felt that they maybe had more patrons than they could handle, our service was very sporadic. On the flip side the food was a great! With the bread they bought out these crispy, salty, cheddar cheese crackers that were so good I probably could have just ate that for the rest of the night. Luckily I didn't and ordered the roasted lamb chops. The lamb chops were amazing and the mashed potatoes and asparagus were the perfect sides to it. So the question.... will I go there again? Probably not, why, because I am sure I can find a place closer and better at running a restaurant than this place. Also I found out it is a chain and that takes point away for me, but maybe I'm a snob.

I always say you can judge the food at a restaurant by how good the bread they serve you is, and wow, the food at Brio was as divine as the warm sourdough and flat crisps you get to sample first. The only thing I would suggest to them is to serve more soups that aren't so laden with cream so that those of us who do not want a 1000 calorie bowl of soup can enjoy some as well!

Brio's is Mom and I's go to lunch spot! It's right down the street from her work and is never disappointing. I have been here many times and have never went wrong with anything on their lunch menu. The bread is so good here (and I don't usually brag about free bread) and the crispy flat-bread chip things that come with the bread are also a yummy appetizer. I'm not usually a dessert person, but their creme brulee is irresistible! The prices are reasonable and the service is always top notch! They have a large bar area and outdoor seating. I always know I will have a great lunch at Brio's!

You know what? Brio is like a hot girl who has very little substance. Much like the hot girl Brio is aesthetically pleasing. You can't argue with that. It's got a great ambiance. Brio has a great feel to it. The service is very good too. The servers and bartenders have always been attentive. So this girl, yes she's hot, yes she's friendly, attentive and sweet...but then she opens her mouth and out comes....uhhhh, not much of anything about anything...kinda like the food at Brio. Nothing interesting or inspiring, just bland uninspired uninspiration. The food really is disappointing. It's not terrible, but it's not much better than....yep, I'm gonna say it....Olive Garden...DOH!!! I've been to Brio at least ten times. (They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results) The result is always the same. Disappointment with the food. The chicken and steaks are consistently overcooked. The salads are blah. Brio indeed possesses a few positives however. Cool spot for an after work drink. The bar scene at Brio offers a great selection of sugamama/cougar types(if that's what you're into). Very good wine selection and very good service. If Brio could improve the food it has the potential for excellence, even for a chain. So if you could get the hot, airhead girl to take cooking lessons and maybe a few classes at a community college, she might eventually turn into a keeper.

Where to lunch after a long morning of wedding dress shopping? Brio! My girls and I were able to have a great lunch and cool drinks. The chicken and sweet potato risotto was amazing, far better than I expected for a Cheesecake Factory's take on Italian. The carppacio was huge and delish. I wish I lived closer and this would easily become a great little lunch spot. Service was top spot also, only complaint being that was very sweaty and that's a tad on the gross side to me.

Ok I give up Brio wins again! This is a perennial favorite for family occasions and I am giving it an additional star as the food was better and the dining experience has been consistently good over a long period of time. I had the Mushroom Ravioli Al Forno and it was better than the option I had the last time; the sauces in this dish are great! The chopped salad was also very good. Sat outside and everyone had a great experience.

Absolutely delicious. This place always has me wanting to come again and fill my mouth with their orgasmic deliciousness! The portions of the food are great and the service is always warming. It's such a nice place to go with your family and or friends to celebrate something. However, I'm not a huge fan of their seating arrangements - should I say? One time I brought a party of 10 and I believed they would seat us in a round table but rather they put the tables together - I had called a few days ahead and let them know and called the day before to remind them. That was the only turn off I have from them but other than that the food is really delicious!

Boo. It will be a long time before we make this mistake again. This was my third or fourth trip to Brio and up until now every visit has been enjoyable. Somehow, we drew the short straw this time around and had a terrible experience. My husband requested we go here for his birthday dinner and so I made reservations. The place was PACKED, but we were seated immediately. However, it took our server a LONG time to check in with us and we noticed he actually checked in with another table (who had been seated after us) before he came over to get our drink orders. At the time, I was pregnant and it seemed to piss him off that I was only drinking club soda. However, my husband wanted a beer. He asked what Schlafly they had and the server said impatiently (and this is a direct quote) "Um, the regular kind." (For those who are unaware, Schlafly is a microbrewery and they don't carry a "regular kind.") At that point, my husband changed his order to a Bud Light and decided to only drink one so he wouldn't confuse this poor server. It took him forever to take our orders, he seemed irritated and in a hurry the entire time, and, in the end I was terribly underwhelmed by the Shrimp Scampi I decided on. We couldn't help but notice that he spent an exorbitant amount of time with the table next to us (and also took note of the fact that all 6 of them were downing expensive cocktails and bottles of wine). Guess we weren't spending enough to make it worth his while. Don't worry, we won't be back to waste your time again.

Don't be fooled by BRIO being a "chain" restaurant. The food is freshly prepared by Chef Jay Witte and the selections are pretty extensive. I like the bar area and the heated patio and it is definitely a great place to people watch. The happy hour from 3:30-6:30 and 9pm to close features $2.95 appetizers. And its not skimpy apps. It is the full serving size. Brushettas to the Brio Burger, you can't go wrong with the appetizer menu. Drinks are comparably priced to other restaurants in the Frontenac area. Delcious food, great atmosphere means I will be back again.

This place is a chain so I did not expect much but I was surprised how much I loved the food there! Pros: - Crabcakes are great (full of seafood) - Their lobster ravioli is delicious - If you make reservations, you get a table pretty darn fast Cons: - Service is a hit and miss with this place (1st time was a charm but the 2nd time I came here for dinner was not too good to say the least) - Their martinis were way too watered down for my liking - Did I mention you should make a reservation on a weekend night? Well, you should! I rather go to Cunetto's on the Hill if I am ever in the mood for for some rich carbs but Brio met up to some of my standards!

Great food, atmosphere and service. I was extremely happy with my first visit. The Gorgonzola encrusted New York strip was done perfectly and not being one of my normal favorites I really enjoyed the spinach and artichoke dip. I'm anxious to try this place again.

Brio is one of those places that feels utterly like a scene out of a movie: as if you're at an Italian wedding and in the middle of the scene someone flips a meatball, that knocks a waiter in the face, who trips over his shoelace and falls into the three piece orchestra which sends a violin flying through the air crashing into a water boy whose water tray falls all over the bride and her white dress becomes soaked and she starts screaming hysterically, all the while guests are chatting obliviously over their glasses of champagne and all of the sudden, a chimpanzee (wearing a tuxedo of course) jumps out of his trainer's arms, scales the foyer beams and flings himself into the crystal chandelier. I mean-- this might not've happened when you went to Brio but it still deserves three stars.

We went to Brio recently for dinner with a group of about 8 people. Good thing we had a reservation because the place was packed. There's nothing particularly poor to say about Brio, but nothing particularly good to say either. The menu features a wide variety of Italian food, but misses some of the classics...chicken parm, linguine with clam sauce, etc. The food is alright, my veal was tasty, but my husband's seafood risotto was so greasy we had to send it back. Service was good given that it was a busy Saturday evening. Overall, if I'm looking for a place for Italian, I think I'll head to the Hill.

I was seated fairly quickly. It was sort of odd that they asked me if I wanted water since it's usually standard practice to get water for everyone and then ask if the customer would like some other sort of drink. To be fair I ordered a drink very quickly so they could have been confused. I passed on appetizers and order their cooked to order grilled salmon. It was very well done. It came with some very tasty asparagus. I ordered the creme brûlée as a desert. It was very well made. Overall I think the food was very good. The service was fairly good I think. The chef actually walked the plate to my table which was a nice touch. I don't give it 5 stars because I don't think it quite deserves that. I would go here again if I hadn't been here in a while but I wouldn't go frequently or recommend it to a friend before some other places I like a tad more.

I travel to this area for business occasionally and this was across from my hotel. The service was terrible. I felt like an inconvenience. I asked to sit outside and was seated at a table for 8. My waitress was very nice though. I ordered the artichoke encrusted medallions medium rare and they were medium. I didn't think this place was all that great.

So I think Brio has the potential to be good, but i just happened to choose the wrong dish. I went not on my own accord but with my mentor who suggested we go there. I read the description gargandelli carbonara pasta with wood fired chicken, bacon, and asparagus and I was like I know I'm going to LOVE this! The sauce had a weird taste so I couldn't really appreciate all the other delish items like the bacon and chicken. I would go back and try another dish but only if I was forced to, I'm not itching to go back anytime soon.

what is with all the cougars at this place? all the empty nesters and divorcees come out here for happy hour and hook ups. The average age at the bar is at least 45. I don't think the prices here are that bad but the service is hit or miss. i've had to send back my drink at least a handful of times because the glass was dirty (traces of lipstick) or because there was something floating around. There was also the time i ordered the prefixe and instead of bringing me the prefixe dessert they brought me the full size one and charged me the extra $8 for it. I made no indication that I wanted to deviate from the fixed menu so i'm not sure why the waitress brought it. As for food, the portions here are enormous. And almost everything, includin the salads, is really rich and heavy. that said, i like the fried tomato cakes/discs. The food being so average, its hard to see why this place is always so busy.

The "e" at the end of "Grille" is always a warning sign. The food here sucks, there's no two ways about it. Like most of Plaza Frontenac, Brio takes mediocrity and wraps it up in an expensive and rather tacky package. (A hallmark of Plaza Frontenac even when I was growing up.) Unfortunately, Brio can't pull off the charade as well as its neighbors. Presentation, service, and quality all take a back seat to the Italiany decor and Chochky-esque waitstaff. Their "bruschetta" should really be called "Grease with a side of bread, cheese and vegetables." Save your $ and head over to Olive Garden instead.

Another one of my favorites for happy hours. The happy hour menu here is ridiculously cheap and the selection is quite good. If you like spicy food, make sure you try the eggplant and shrimp. It's amazing! The burger is also quite good, and comes at an unbeatable price ($3). This is especially a good place to check out either before or after a movie at the Plaza Frontenac.

I gave it four stars because the portions are huge and I think that it is unnecessary for lunch. Our waiter was amazing and fantastic. The restaurant is extremely clean too. I had the salmon salad and it was so amazing I thought I was in heaven definitely recommend that salad!!!

Came with with a large group from work. It's a little pricey but you probably expect that. The food was fine. I got a pork chop and it was very good, the appetizers were so-so. Our service was great and the restaurant was very loud even for lunch on a weekday. Full disclosure; this isn't my favorite type of food to begin with so it has that going against it. No real complaints, just wasn't very memorable.

I had lunch today at Bio with a business associate. I have to say (and I rarely say this) that I was actually impressed. I am generally not a fan of chain restaurants, Italian or otherwise. Much more upscale in appearance than an establishment like Macaroni grill, the setting is tastefully decorated and relaxing. Little of the kitchy crap that is typical of a chain. Though it was packed - we had to make reservations for 12:30 because 12:00 seating was full - we were able to hold a normal voice conversation. The fabrics strung across the ceiling seemed to do a good job of dampening the noise. My associate had the salmon that he really enjoyed. I had one of the lunch specials, a chicken salad (w/spinach, gorgonzola, bacon, apples, vinaigrette) which was only $8. It was huge. I could only finish half of it. The chicken was freshly grilled and amazingly moist and tender. There was an excellent balance between all the constituent parts. Service was excellent. Waitress was there in a flash and came by several times, even though we delayed her due to our conversation. One of the partners of the parent company came by to see how we enjoyed our meal and if there was anything they could do to improve. The only complaint was that the service was too fast -the food came out within ten minutes of ordering - but they didn't rush us to leave. So, for the price, quality of food, and service I'm a fan. I plan to check it out for dinner.

This restaurant may be part of a chain, but it is still worth checking out! It has a more upscale feel than your typical Italian chain restaurants, and the food is so much better. It can get crowded, but it was fairly empty last night (Monday). There's a pretty extensive wine list - we had the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which I thought was delicious and went well with the meal. The Bruschetta Quattro was fantastic - it had a sampling of 4 different bruschettas (my favorite was the sliced steak) and it's great for sharing with the table. A member of our group had the lobster bisque, which he says is a must if you are a fan of lobster bisque. The soup of the day was Italian wedding soup, which was also delicious. For entrees, I had the fire roasted tomato and chicken risotto, which I thought was great. I also shared a margherita flatbread with another person, which was delicious - def try to eat it while it's hot! The beef carpaccio dish was HUGE (I've seriously never seen so much beef carpaccio in one setting). Also the salmon sald was very large, and I heard it was a favorite. For dessert, they serve their desserts in little espresso cups, which I think is fantastic if you want to try several things (and not to mention, they are so cute!). Of course if you want a large serving, you won't get it here. We ordered the creme brulee sampling (vanilla, bananas foster, and caramel) and also the tiramisu. All were delicious. The only disappointment were the mochiattos, but that may have been bc our waiter asked how to make them after they were ordered. Oh well! This is def somewhere I would come again (we've been here several times already even though it's out of the way).

Ok. I found it shocking that this is a chain. Cause the food is truly special. Melt in your mouth goodness... the stuffed chicken breast, the wine, the steak quality, the creamy mash potatoes, the various dessert cups that give you a shot of heaven... and SO reasonably priced. ($2 a cup) They have a zillion choices of creme brule', and rather large starter salads that are almost a meal in themselves. We took our family here and were all around impressed. Only downfall was the slowness of service... we were definitely salivating before the food came, and ate WAY too much bread.

1/1/2013 Edit » My wife and I ate our New Year's Eve 2012 dinner here. The restaurant is nice but my wife and I thought it looked a lot like The Cheesecake Factory on the inside. Our table service was very good. Our waiter always checked on us but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and desserts. The food is WAY OVERPRICED!!! The food is average at best. The food had very little seasoning and the portions were uneven. I had the chicken pomadore and I must of had 5 pounds of angel hair pasta and only a few small pieces of chicken. My wife had the pasta brio which was ok but not great. I read the other food reviews where people said "Ohhh, the food is so good". No it's not! People, grow up! Just because the restaurant is in upscale Frontenac doesn't mean it's great. It's not, it's average at best and is no better than Olive Garden. So if your considering eating here, consider saving yourself a ton of money on average Italian food and go to Olive Garden, or better yet, go to The Hill and eat at a REAL Italian restaurant. Our meal was over $80.00 dollars for just two people ( ridiculous!).

I really like their Gorgonzola Crusted Bistecca, as well as their salads. Really nice place.

This place is just alright in my opinion. It's close to me and my family so whenever we go to dinner this is always where we decide on. It really is extremely loud which is why I don't go here during the winter. Dur ring late spring and summer and fall (duh) they have some outdoor seating (I would recommend more) and it's a lot quieter. It's also a great spot to go during a shopping day or before a movie. I've never ventured over to the bar area out of fear of getting squished to death... or having a claustrophobic attack! The food is pretty good, I don't like their soups much. The bread is great and the last time I was there I had the lamb chops which were actually wonderful and light! Usually I leave here extremely full, so it was a nice surprise. :)

The best Watermelon Martini EVER! After trolling around in 100 degree weather this drink was so refreshing. I am definitely going to try to emulate this drink at home. The food was pretty good, but not as flavorful as expected for Italian food. I was somewhat disappointed to learn Brio is a chain, but it is definitely a lot better than the Olive Garden, but cannot touch the Macaroni Grill by a mile.

A week ago, we attended a birthday celebration at 7:00 pm on a Friday night. The place was packed which only intensified the noise level. It was almost impossible to carry on a conversation with anyone across the table. The bar service was somewhat slow due to the crowd. When the entrees arrived, that is when things went a little haywire. The runner delivered our plates and remarked "Looks like they didn't give me all the meals". My dinner of Pasta con Vodka was barely warm. One guest was left stranded with no dinner at all. We all sat there looking at each other, waiting for his entree to show up. My dinner was now approaching room temperature. We hailed our waitress who finally sent a manager over. He said "the dinner was "lost" and had been given to another table". We waited ten full minutes for a replacement. I think this experience was typical of chain restaurants, upscale or not. They have a formula but there is not the buy in you experience in a family run operation. Bigger is not always better.

Yum! I was in townon business and was taken to dinner here. I would defintely eat there on my own dime as well. The citrus chicken was phenomenal, as the desserts were the perfect size for the end of a huge meal. Service was outstanding even for our group of 20.

So I went out to dinner with my manager and his wife the other night, they suggested Brio's (probably because it literally right up the street from their home) But I had the Brio's Salmon Salad which was better than I expected, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc to celebrebrate my new promotion (yay). overall the atmosphere was nice and laid back and I really enjoyed myself.

For a chain restaurant this place rarely disappoints me, food is good and service always has been attentive. If you eat in the main dining area you start with their little crispy flatbreads which are addictive. My last visit was brunch, lots of selection and food very good. Bar has nice happy hour specials on food, they also have a really nice patio but get there early as tables are had to get esp on friday night

I can't say it any better than Sunil when it comes to describing this restaurant, though I do give it two stars because the food was OK. Odd for such a 'fancy' place to get our reservation so wrong- we reserved a table for 13, they saved a table for three. My bottle of wine took a long time ( it came with the apps) our server kept hitting me in the head when delivering food for other people at the table. It was just a painful experience all around. The other server serving our table was kind enough to split a plate when one spouse mentioned she was going to nibble off her husband's plate. All in all, average food, poor service from our main server, loud, and pricey.

Came here with a group of 16 for Saturday brunch. We all loved this place! We were seated right away at a table that had been prepared for our arrival. The waiters were friendly, helpful, and efficient. And the food was spectacular. Between the 16 of us we probably ordered just about everything on the brunch menu. Everyone really liked their meal. I had the french toast with berries, which was spectacular. One girl found a small piece of tin foil on the food in her dish. She mentioned it to the waiter but assured him that she was very happy with her food anyway. They brought her out a second meal anyway, plus they took it off the bill. Overall we were very happy with the restaurant. We will be back again - maybe for dinner this time!

We're visiting from out of town & took a chance on this place because it was close to our hotel and we were really hungry. The Caprese Bruschetta was amazing. They used perfectly ripe yellow and red tomatoes. The flavors were all in perfect harmony. If we decided to go back again during our trip here, I'd just order all kinds of bruschetta. (There are so many to choose from)

The food is decent but overpriced. I've been twice and was underwhelmed both times. The first time, I got the carbonara pasta and it was forgettable. The last time, I got the gorgonzola lamb chops and they were way overcooked. I do love the wedge salad. It had a daunting amount of blue cheese and bacon, which I love. I also love their cosmos. The decor is a little in your face with a faux-opulence feel to it. I get that it's supposed to Tuscan (the name says it) so does it need to be that literal? It just feels pretentious. Overall, Brio is the upscale version of the Olive Garden.

Brio's has always been one of my Grandma's favorite places to have the Salmon Salad and Iced Teas...but the other day I met a girlfriend there and we both enjoyed our dinner to the fullest. We ordered the Margarita Flat Bread and it was great. It was essentially a thin crust pizza with tomatoes basil and mozzarella on top. It was topped with fresh Parmesan cheese- mm mm good. My friend ordered the Salmon Salad and I ordered the Brio Chop Salad. Both were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our food at Brio... But it is definitely a little more of a sophisticated place, and not so suited for younger adults. You will see your Mom's friend there hitting on the younger 35 year old Lawyer at the bar...but- the food is still definitely good.

For being near suburban St. Louis, the food isn't all that bad here. I like the steaks a lot in fact. The wait is usually out the door on weekends, so call ahead (not sure if they take reservations or not). The bartender when I was there made a mean mojito...but we didn't stay too long at the bar. It was filled...and I mean FILLED to the brim with cougars. Scary, scary. Also, please, let's not kid ourselves that this is a "Tuscan Grille". Nothing on the menu is Tuscan inspired or feels Italian. False advertisement if you ask me.

The place seems kinda 'corporate chain' Italian, but I have no problem with the food. Everything I've had here is top notch and fresh. The lobster bisque is great. The salads are substantial and the pasta I've had is as good as anywhere. The place is large and has outdoor seating, and made it nice for a large family.

For a large chain, Brio serves up some great food. I've only been here once so far, but I enjoyed my meal. I went during Sunday brunch and found the large space fairly empty, which was good because I'd heard this place can have really long waits (maybe that's just for dinner?). The menu is quite extensive, and had a lot of options for vegetarians like myself. They had a brunch menu as well as a brunch special menu, so it was hard to choose what to order. I went with the tomato & mozzarella panini with homemade potato chips, and was not disappointed. My friend got a salad that she also enjoyed. The issue I had with this place was the service. While it wasn't BAD, it was a little lackluster. When we ordered drinks, we ordered waters as well, but the waters didn't come. I flagged the waitress down during our meal and asked if we could have some water. She returned with one glass of water, so my friend had to ask for a glass too. It was just odd, because it appeared that all the other diners around us had received water when they were seated. Other than the water situation, service was ok. I noticed that Brio had a patio off to the side that has a bocce court! I would return just to go try that out. I also liked the airy atmosphere of the place, with super high ceilings. Will go back next time I am in town.

We went to Brio Tuscan Cafe this past Saturday for dinner with some relatives who were in town. The place was lively and busy. I had veal marsala and my wife pasta with vodka sauce. The veal was very good, the portion a nice size. It was served with a vegetable medley and a few crispy potatoes. The veal, according to my wife, was spicy and very good. Others has mushroom ravioli and chicken with herbed pasta. All though the food was decent and reasonably priced. One observation I had was the size of the salad two of the guests had. It was about a half a head of iceberg lettuce that seemed to be the size of a small mountain. It looked as though it had a bit of some kind of dressing on it and some other garnish. Nothing wrong with that, just the size was surprising. I didn't hear any complaints from anyone and someone remarked that the coffee was very good. All in all, an enjoyable evening.

For a big corporate chain, I was impressed by the menu and the food prep. Service was excellent, and I like the room (big, light, loud). Took my mom there for Mother's Day and it proved to be an excellent choice. Unlike most chains, the pasta was not gooey and old, but al dente and fresh.

  • Jill L.

I found Brio ok but there are only so many things I can try on the menu. (e.g. pizza) For the price, I would rather eat pizza elsewhere and the salad wasn't all the exciting to me either. I might just be down on the place because I have been there a couple times and both times were work lunches. Bad association...work is not tasty.

In terms of price with respect of the quality of food. Brio gets an A+. I love the food and the warm bread they serve before you eat.

I'm giving Brio 4 stars only because as a corporate-owned restaurant, they do have certain standards they have to meet 24/7. I wouldn't go here if I wanted a cozy Friday night. Granted, the food (Italian, big menu, not quite the scale of Cheesecake's but very adequate) is tastey and if you have any complaints a manager will be at your table in two seconds. Steaks, pork chops, pastas, pizzas... The bar seems to attract the 30 and 40-somethings. I'd recommend reservations on the weekends. Good for family events or if you're in the mood for a huge Italian feast, bellini and everything.

I am in St. Louis for a work meeting and decided to explore the area and came upon Brio. This is a great restaurant -- as a woman dining alone, I was treated wonderfully. I ate in the bar, and the bartender Paul checked on me, got my order in quickly, and was just super friendly and nice. Anyhoo -- the pasta portion was enough to feed a family of four, while the asparagus side was enough to feed...me. I cannot give the place four stars as they allow people to smoke in the bar, so when I got home my clothes, hair, coat were smelly. Thanks Paul and staff for taking care of me. BTW, it is dark and very cold but i did notice a Bocce ball court outside!

I got invited here, and although it was not bad, I wouldn't go out of my way to go again. It definitely feels like a chain restaurant - bland atmosphere, OK food.

Over the last year, service seems to be declining along with food quality (the menu is still great, but the preparation is no longer spot-on). I no longer consider Brio competition for St. Louis's authentic American-Italian restaurants, but rather a nicer alternative to Macaroni Grill. I'm rating 4 stars only in the hope they can re-earn the fifth I once granted.

I had a date and he suggested Brio. We wanted to sit outside for dinner and we both wanted wine. Goal achieved. It was alittle bit of a wait for a table, so we grabbed a nice glass of wine at the bar. Our bartender Bailey, was very knowledge and quick to serve us. I had the Moscato he had the Red Zinfandel, both excellent choices, because we had more than one glass each. Once we were seated on the patio, our server Seth was quick to greet us with water and menus. The menu was not overwhelming, I had the chicken with faro, and vegetables. He had the shrimp with faro and vegetables. They looked like the same dish when they arrived, and sadly Seth was not sure what faro was. For those of you that don't know, it is similar to rice. Dinner took a little longer than we thought it should, but we did have the wine and nice conversation. Next was desert, they had 5 options to pick from. We both selected the crème brulee, it was just the perfect ending to the meal.

Had a nice dinner for 10 on a Saturday evening. Service was super nice. They all were very friendly, brought lots of bread, plenty of drink refills, and quickly cleared the plates. The restaurant seemed pretty crowded too. I didn't notice if there were people waiting but all tables seemed full. Started with the mussels. They were especially delicious and I would recommend. Sometimes they can be gritty or have an odd (not so fresh) flavor. I highly recommend and will order again. They tasted fresh, clean, and very flavorful with the seasoning. The sweet potato and chicken risotto was very tasty. Creamy and perfect texture (not crunchy like some). The chicken was tender and the entire dish was very flavorful. The dish had asparagus which is a fav. I like sweet potatoes and this added a flavor of sweetness in an otherwise savory dish. I will say there were a few bites that were a bit saltier than others. But it was still an awesome entree. Shout out to yelper Kay X as her photo inspired me to try this, I normally stick with pasta with the fear of undercooked risotto. Had the tiramisu for dessert and it was a nice ending to the meal. Strong coffee flavor, moist, not too sweet. It was a solid dessert.

It's been forever since my last visit to Brio. Like, more than seven years ago, second date with my husband forever. My two recent visits were much more casual and much less stressful for me, as I was meeting a friend for dinner and drinks during one visit and enjoying lunch with my husband during my other visit. The restaurant itself is very elegant in a Tuscan kind of way, with warm colors and marble throughout. My friend and I decided to grab a table in the large bar area to take advantage of happy hour specials. This is really the way to go here. We shared four appetizers for our meal and each had a glass of wine all for only $32. There are several bar plates to choose from, all priced between $3.95 and $5.95. We decided on the following: tomato mozzarella salad, tomato margherita flatbread, crispy cheese ravioli, and black peppered shrimp with eggplant. I enjoyed each one of the apps, but my favorite were the cheese ravioli. They are made with mozzarella cheese and reminded me of a mozzarella stick / toasted ravioli crossbreed. The lunch I shared with my husband recently was equally as good. We each ordered a pasta off the lunch menu. I had the Pasta Alla Vodka (ricotta filled pasta, pancetta, garlic, basil, and a spicy tomato parmesan cream sauce) while my husband chose the Campanelle Carbonara (grilled chicken, bacon, parmesan, and sautéed spinach). Both dishes were excellent. I will indeed visit Brio again... and won't wait so long before my next visit!

Everything was absolutely as it always is when we dine @ Brio's. From the reception desk to our waiter (Justin) manager's (Shy) & other manager's, whose names I don't know, were amazing! The food too came to our table in a very timely manner & was DELICIOUS! We loved our experience! Thank you as always, Lilo Cooper

I came during thier Mon thru Fri 330 to 630 happy hour and was thoroughly satisfied with the food and service. Our waiter checked up on us a good amount. I sat outside which has heat lamps. The two of us ordered a lot and it can add up quickly but happy hours normally do when you eat and drink a lot haha. Order the fried eggplant w shrimp

This latest visit to Brio was the opposite of my last visit. Last time I liked my food and the service was bad. This time my food was ok and the service was better. I had the Pasta Brio and I was surprised to find the noodles a bit mushy and not al dente. For bearing the restaurant's name, I thought this would be a better pasta dish. It was very one note and just didn't really do anything for me. The service this time was decent. We sat in the bar area as opposed to the dining room last time. The bar was faster. We had to remind the server of a couple things but she had a lot going on.

My five stars are based on drinks, service, and atmosphere. I did not eat on this trip to Brio. My drink (raspberry mojito) was amazing!! It could've been a little stronger but it was wonderful nonetheless! My group sat at the bar (which is really big!) and were greeted immediately by the bartender. He was very nice and outgoing. The cocktails were all about 8 dollars which is reasonable and they had a ton of fairly priced wine! I am very excited to go back here for a meal! It would be perfect for a girls night or for a date. Wonderful atmosphere!

I recently ate at Brio with a group of around 10 people. We all had separate bills and the servers were great and accommodated us very well. The interior is very nice and charming, with lots of pillars and drapes. The place is fairly noisy, with a bar with TVs in the same room as the main restaurant. I had the chicken milanese and it was awesome. I loved the cheese they used and the sauce was great. The pasta was decent but had some strange flavor. I don't believe it was a problem with a cooking, I guess it was just the type of pasta they use. And I still ate every bite of the dish. The salad was very good. The dressing was nice and I ate every last bite of the dish. The price of the meal was sort of a motivation to make sure I did so. The main downside to Brio is the noise level and the price ($20 for the chicken, $5 for salad). Then again, the price is about what you'd pay at the average Italian restaurant. Interior- 4.5/5 Food- 4.5/5 Service- 4/5 OVERALL- 4/5

I love Brio and have been a regular here and in Kansas City. You can count on interesting dishes well prepared and excellent waitstaff. On my last visit I had the Grilled Salmon Salad and Brio Bellini, my two favorite items! My companion had the Grilled Chicken and Quinoa Salad. We weren't sure about Farro so our waiter Seth explained it as a dried food composed of grains from certain species of wheat. Cool! We are recent comers to Quinoa so we were eager to add Farro to our dining lexicon. It was a wonderful evening with great service by Seth. The atmosphere is wonderful although very loud. It is best to sit along a wall to shield you from some of the hubbub so you can converse more easily.

NO CORKAGE FEE MOTHAFUCKAS! Srsly. One bottle of wine per table, though. So when you're finished with your first bottle, relocate to a different table, bwhahaha! The look on our waiter's face was fukkin priceless when he uncorked my bottle of wine and was going to pour some for Sean and I said "no, he doesn't drink." LOL. "So this entire bottle is...for you?" Yep. I'm an alcoholic, woo. I really enjoy their chicken milanese pomodoro but FUCK when did it get so expensive? I could have sworn this dish used to cost somewhere around the ballpark of $15, not $20...? Maybe I am thinking of the lunch menu. Also I could have sworn they had lobster ravioli here, but maybe not? I guess maybe I am getting them confused with Bravo...it is the same restaurant, right? Or at least same parent company... I still have no idea what the difference between the two is. ?? Anyway, Sean branched out when we last came here and ordered porkchops or something like that... he was "amazed" that the carrots here were "palatable" as he generally hates carrots. I think a miracle must have occurred that night. Had to do a double take at the night sky after we were leaving to see if there was a magical shooting miracle star in the sky or some crap. Once he decides he doesn't like a specific type of food, good luck getting him to eat it ever again. So yeah, thank you Brio, for keeping my picky eater open-minded and for not charging me extra money for my alcoholism problem. A++++ would return again (but with a coupon for the food.)

Well this was the perfect night until the end... My family of 8 enjoyed ourselves here at Brio's. The lamb chops were amazing, the drinks were made to perfection and the service was great. Julie and Patrick did an excellent job serving us. I would have given Brio's a perfect score. However, on my way out the door my family of 8 turned into my family of 9. I saw a MOUSE leave out with us. First I thought I had to much to drink and didn't just see a mouse then it ran across my toes. Talk about petrified! I screamed and so did everyone else. Well I won't be coming back to Brio's ever and tomorrow I will definitely be calling the restaurant to get my money back. The only thing that they can keep is the tip for my servers. I feel sick to my stomach. My left overs are in the trash. GROSS!

Food was good-as expected. However, the wait staff was extremely rude. Our server rushed our group through the entire meal and out the door and made it very clear that we weren't ordering "enough" to be worth their time. Seemed odd since we were a large group all ordering drinks($$) in an otherwise empty restaurant.

My wife and I and a friend had a really lovely meal at Brio in St Louis last night. It was our first visit, and I was quite surprised at how busy the restaurant was at 6 pm on a Wednesday evening! Despite the bustle, we were treated well by an attentive staff. All the food was really very good - I especially enjoyed my Pasta Pesto. Fine place, and I believe we will definitely return on our next trip to St. Louis.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
