My family prefers to eat here whenever I visit them and it's probably one of the better places to eat in Kirksville. I think their food is pretty decent so more like 3.5 stars but I'll be generous. It's Mongolian style so the taste really depends on what sauces you choose from. I like the fact that they have a lot of ingredients to choose from especially different kinds of meats that I can't really get anywhere else. They even have octopus and scallops! My favorite sauce combination is the orange sauce with the black bean sauce and then some garlic and hot oil. I always have to get two cups though because I feel like just one is a little flavorless. The salad bar is a little extra but there's not much too it so I never feel the urge to get it along with the Mongolian bowl. They do serve a light tasting soup at the beginning of your meal for free. It has scallions and very thinly sliced mushrooms and it tastes basically like broth but it's tasty. Their sushi is fairly good here too and it's reasonable so I usually splurge on some rolls when I can. I always get their tempura sweet potato roll and then mix it up with the other rolls I choose. I like the cheaper rolls so I haven't yet gone with the more expensive ones. The atmosphere here is clean and nice and I like the decor. The inside looks more like a Chinese buffet than the outside which has Spanish-style murals and design. Overall, it's a nice place to have a cheap and fast dinner or lunch.

This place is amazing!! Clean, fresh, incredible selections of meats and vegetables. After spending 11 days In Kirksville I found this to be probably the best restaurant for consistent quality and service. Ate here for lunch a few times and dinner once. Incredible value. I only tried the Mongolian bowl and didn't try the sushi. I highly recommend this place!!

Always good fresh ingredients. Think Hu Hots but never frozen ingredients. Great staff, and the complimentary broth they bring with dinner is amazing, simple, clean, homemade. The sauces to choose from can be daunting but try a few. They are so good. Priced right and if I didn't live a 40 min drive away I'd eat here at least a couple times a week.

The food really is delicious! I would rate it at five stars, but the one issue I have is the language barrier. The restaurant is well kept up and the food is great, but the service is not the friendly kind that I like to see if I am going to give five stars. No problem, just get your bowl, fill it with rice and noodles and all kinds of meat, and the next thing you know it's hot and ready to enjoy on your table.

Because of the "buffet style" that you prepare your "bowl", it really varies on how good the main dish is. I've always been satisfied with the bowl I've gotten, mainly piled high with meat with the sweet orange sauce. The ingredients to select from seem to be of good quality, if I stopped here I would give 4 stars...but they've list a star because of their sushi. For "Mongolian" it's okay, but for somebody used to true Japanese sushi (or the Americanized version of it) I would not recommend it. Service is decent, usually pretty good.

I went here because my mom comes here every weekend. At first the waitresses was very friendly with me but there was two there that weren't. I think the reason was because I look different ( I have Tattoos and colored hair ) I accidentally add a sauce to my meat . Both the cook and the other waitress start to yell at in front of everyone , which was very embarrassing to me. Then I want to wait by my mom and the waitress told me if everything was ok and I said yes , then rudely she told me to seat down at my table . I told her I was just waiting for my mom . I never be treated this way and I will never go back because of the embarrassment and how rude they were to me because of my appearance, because when other people came in they didn't treat them like me

Love this place Great service and excellent food . I am not rating the sushi side of it as I don't eat that . But the mongolian is awesome!

Why do I always have to get my own chopsticks??? I have accepted the fact they don't speak English but it is frustrating when I can see my roll on the too of the bar and I have to point it out to them. Don't expect good service but the food is good. I am pretty particular when it comes to Mongolian BBQ but this was actually really good. I did ask the waitress if the shrimp on a stick was as shown in the menu and although she said yes, you can see by the picture I posted that it is not. Sorry for eating one, I was hungry and had to beg for that and my roll. Oh well, I will submit myself to bad service if I am Jonsin for Mongolian BBQ but I think I am done with eating sushi here.. :(

The food is good, fresh, and fast. The service was wonderful- the owner is so kind and attentive, as was our waitress. The decor is a little odd on the outside, but the inside is well decorated and cozy. The prices are reasonable too, cheap even compared to a similar restaurant in the city. Overall we were pleasantly surprised by this little gem!

Nurhachi is located at the north end of town, just past Walmart. The building used to be the El Vaquero/Happy Mexican (I believe) and they haven't done too much cosmetic remodeling since the last Mexican-restaurant owners. I have had the Mongolian there as well as the Sushi. First off, I love that on their Mongolian buffet bar, they have squid and octopus. I rarely see that anywhere. I even wish that they had more traditional offal ingredients, but I don't think Kirksville is ready for that. They also of course offer less scary options of pork, beef, and chicken. As far as starches go, they have rice, udon noodles, rice noodles, and I think vermicelli. Mongolian barbecues are great for customizing your dishes and I think Nurhachi is getting it right. They're also nailing the head with their sushi. In fact, of the four or five times I've gone there, I've only ordered Mongolian once and Sushi every other time. Thick cuts of the most buttery-est fish (in Kirksville, and for the most part that I've had in Missouri) nicely displayed on a dish are brought to you if you order their sashimi platter. Alternatively, they have other sashimi and nigiri platters that are pretty affordable, but on the menu are mislabled as simply 7 or 9 piece sushi + roll. They have really great sushi lunch specials, too. You can order 2 rolls with soup and salad for $7.95 or 3 rolls with soup and salad for $10.95 (last time I checked). If you order just rolls, I definitely recommend the fancy roll. However, what brings/will bring me back is their chirashi bowl. Chirashi, which means 'scattered sashimi' comes on a bed of sushi rice, with finely cut daikon radish, lettuce, and pickled vegetables. I ate the entire thing. It also came with salad (their house ginger dressing is soooo good) and miso soup (they use really thick fresh seaweed and silken tofu, YUM!). It's $16 for all of that! My only complaint is that ordering sushi can take a really long time. I will definitely come back and have recommended it to everyone. They also offer a 10% discount to Truman and ATSU students.

The food here is pretty good. Because it's Mongolian, a lot depends on what vegetables, meats, and sauces you choose to mix together as your meal. The veggie, meat, and sauce selection is definitely adequate. I haven't tried the sushi but I've heard it's pretty good.

The staff are always friendly, and I love the selections. You can't go wrong, because your in charge of exactly what goes in the bowl for cooking. May I recomend the orange sauce mixed with a bit of hot thai sauce. Yummy. The outside does not match the cusine because of a problem with their lease's details I found out, so don't drive by it by the outward appearance. Inside they have done an elegant job, and that's what you look at while dinning anyway.

Food and service were pretty good. If you get creative you can come up with some interesting dishes. I would recommend this place if you're hungry enough to eat two or three plates full.
