I can't believe I haven't reviewed Waldo Pizza yet! How can you not love them? For me, there are so many reasons to give them virtually all of my pizza eating business. - The pie itself. I think it is an above average, basic pizza. It's not NY pizza, or crazy huge slice pizza. It's just regular pie - but quite good! They have thin crust, regular, whole wheat, and gluten free as crust options. There are lots of sauce choices - including spicy sauce, bruschetta, and bbq sauce. Then there are the toppings. All of the usual suspects, plus a whole host of others. Some of my favorite combos are: burnt ends and roasted corn, green olives and almonds, pine nuts and genoa salami, and almost anything with goat cheese. I have yet to try Spam on my pizza, but it is there is you want it! I think it is really nice that they have a lot of vegan and gluten free food. I know there are many people who appreciate that. - The beer. Have you looked at their beer list? Lots of options. Really, really good options. Draught and bottle, ciders, gluten free beers, big and small. A great place to have an old favorite, or try something new. - The salad bar. Beets! Blueberries (usually)! Crispy jalapenos! All things available on their salad bar. Lots of other stuff too. - The staff. They have a lot of people who have been with them a long time. That is always a good sign to me. These folks also happen to be lovely, fun people. They put up with some crazy, busy times, and they do so with grace. - Other stuff. They are very kid-friendly (you may not want to go on a Friday night around 6 or 7 if you don't like families.) They have a great lunch buffet. There is almost always some sort of deal you can get if you ask. Mints after dinner. Trivia cards on the table. Eric the Magician performs at times. Pizza pan lights. Amazing desserts. Delivery (of course, takes a while on game days, weekend evenings, and other typical pizza delivery times.) Pick up is usually faster. Just go there, eat pizza, drink a beer, and relax!

Maybe service is better where I come from (Oklahoma), but here at Waldo Pizza the service is sub-par at best. I will not continue to say its the worst service I have experienced, but it certainly isn't even average service either. Find another line of work if you are waiting tables with a chip on your shoulder, all 3-5 times I have been there now. Food: Buffet=worthless. Dont even bother. Sit down with some friends, have a few beers, make a pizza with some ingredients you know you love and the pizza will be out a half hour later for you to enjoy. Pretty good pizza all in all, but still no Domino's.

Awesome place, try out the beer flights. Love beer, go here, The beer menu is off the hook. There was so many choices I had to have our great waiter pick it for me because I couldn't decide. They serve vegan pizza as well which is one and only place that we could find in the area. Place was packed on a Friday night.

Mother Lovin Waldo Pizza! I have had a lot of pizza in the mere 26 years I've been on this earth and this stuff definitely rates with the best I've ever had. There is a reason this place is jam packed every weekend. Get there early if you don't want to wait. If you don't mind waiting, they have two bars that serve a mighty fine selection of beer, and other drinks of course. The pizza has a really good sauce, a very balanced combination of sweet & spicy. The crust is also always amazingly crispy. No matter the amount of toppings, sauce, and cheese, there is always a nice flaky crunch to the crust. To top it all off, they use a St Louis style provel cheese. The combination is sinfully delicious. It makes me hungry thinking about it right now.... Num Num Num Num!! All in all, a solid KC standby for awesome pizza and beer.

Just about everything on the menu is worth eating. This place feels like a dive- in a cool way. The servers are very nice. Always a good place to eat.

Amazing pizza, great beer selection and solid service. The honey wheat crust is a must. Best pizza in the area, hands down.

Based on the reviews below, I went ahead and tried the thin crust. I liked it however, had I eaten it on-site and not driven the 25 minutes back to my hotel, I am certain that it would have been even better. I may try it again on my next trip out here just to confirm. It was better than any pizza I have had in downtown Kansas City so far. And it is in a cute but very busy little town. I liked the eclectic neighborhood.

We all have those restaurants where we walk in and it's a great night because our favorite bartender is pouring drinks and we can request our favorite server. Waldo Pizza, however, is the exception. Any day, any night, any time, our favorite bartender is pouring and our favorite server is serving. In other words, everyone who works here is exceptional. I arrived in somewhat of a wishy-washy mood but as we turned the corner to sit in The Tap Room, I was just so happy to see the staff that I quickly snapped out of one of my Gemini moods. I recommend trying the toasted ravioli. It really is toasted, not deep fried. It gives it a different good texture. I also recommend asking for the spicy red as the dipping sauce. Our medium pizza was just as good as always, but tonight we discovered the wonderful option of half and half. Ok, we've known about different toppings on different halves, but we've never been so indecisive. Fortunately our server came to the rescue. So we tried something old and something new. Half pepperoni, spicy beef , pepper jack and spicy red and half grilled chicken, asiago, fresh basil and pesto sauce on traditional crust. I think the latter probably should have been the entire pizza as it turns out. Anyway, YUM YUM YUM.

The pizza is good. The gooey cake is awesome. My wife and I thought the thin crust was really good.

My wife and I flew into Kansas City from Maryland for my 44th birthday on 11/16 to celebrate with friends. It was a fantastic experience. Our server, Zeb, was awesome and took great care of all our needs, including putting our cupcakes on a nice pizza dish display. He also recommended the right amount of pizza to order and kept our drink orders humming. Waldo has so many great pizzas - I highly recommend the Waldo Choice Cut for meat lovers. Finally, they have many great beers on tap.

Best pizza in KC. Got to love all of their options for toppings, cheese, and sauce. I think my regular pizza should become one of their specialties - maybe call it the spicy italian or something: Regular Crust, Pesto Sauce, Add Pepper Jack, toppings - spicy beef, peperoni, and italian sausage (you could make it spicier with the spicy marinara sauce, but the pesto just has better flavor). Try it some time and be prepared to get your faced rocked off.

Pizza exceeded expectations, lots of toppings, nice crust, great value. Service was efficient and friendly. But all that is beside the point... Beer list? OH my goodness!!!! Kudos to whoever makes this, btw--you guys do a fantastic job. We are certified snobs, and were in hog heaven at this joint; this is the best beer list I've ever encountered. It's not over-the-top--it's concise, but to-the-point and offering pretty much the best the market offers. Twenty-odd drafts, and almost every one of which an outstanding pour (not to mention tons more bottles in case you're feeling picky). Not to mention the beer flight they offer (4 5oz pours for $5), which is a great deal. I highly recommend this place, and can't wait to return when I'm back in Kansas City.

This is probably the best pizza I've had in KC. The eclectic atmosphere and extremely pizza-passionate servers really enhanced our experience. My advice to "What should I get?" would be to get creative! Step outside of your box of pepperoni and try something new. If you're creatively challenged, ask your server. We ordered jalapeno bacon and cream cheese, which was too die for. Also, the St. Louis style crust was delicious!

They have the best pizza topping options EVER! My only complaint is the paper they have started putting under the pizza. Probably better to just throw the pizza in a zippie bc the paper and pizza will eventually become one. Their service is slow but the saying "good things come to those who wait" can easily be applied to this pizza experience. The Tex Mex with Chorizo is one of my favs. Always been a sucker to Mexican pizzas.

We were struggling to find dinner one night and settled on Waldo Pizza because of the great location and great reviews. Glad we did. Waldo is a fantastic neighborhood nestled in the heart of Kansas City. It's old, historic, and full of character. Just like this pizza place. The big gentleman working the front counter was funny and extremely helpful. Service was a tad slow but it was packed when we came in. They had a good selection of beer, including some local ones which was awesome. Definitely some unique choices. We ordered The Choice Cut at the suggestion of the man who greeted us. We also had an order of fried ravioli for an appetizer. They were your typical frozen ravioli. I even had one with no filling....But, our pizza was awesome. No shortage of meat on it and an even amount of all kinds. I've heard a lot of complaints about cheese but I thought the amount was just fine. The atmosphere is really cool. It's an old building, the ceiling is covered in playing cards that have been signed by people. Not sure what the deal was with that. Lot of Waldo locals I could tell. Great mix of customers in here. Great place for pizza and a beer.

Horrible customer service and, generally, a filthy business. They've been sited by the KCMO Health Department for over **70** critical Health Code violations in the past two years: In July 2015: * Waldo Pizza, 7433 Broadway, had 10 critical violations during a June 12 routine inspection. I know I give a lot of places 5 stars, but I promise I'm super picky and have a hot temper. I have yet to have one negative feeling about them. The staff, food, beer, atmosphere.... everything is absolutely great. The last time I was there, I reaaaaally wanted Thousand Island dressing, but since they don't make it homemade, they don't have it there. (All of their salad dressings are homemade) BUT they ended up finding some in the back! Our waiter looked for himself and found me some. :) At the end of my meal, I finished up my beer flight and my friends were ordering dessert. I wasn't feeling up for dessert, but then I ended up asking for a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and added that to a full pour of the Root Seller's Alcoholic Root Beer (FREAKING BOMB!). Try their Local Pig pizza. It's really quite good and pretty much my go-to if I'm not sure what I want. You really can't go wrong here. Pizza and beer: What more could you want, honestly? Oh ya, TVs to watch the Royals kick ass, and you'll get those here, too. ;)

After trying some of the other options at Waldo Pizza, stick with the pizza. The pizza is amazing. I have never had a bad slice. The other things I have tried are not that good. Meatball sandwich, a lot of bread and a little meatball. Wings, terribly under cooked. I was excited they offer baked. It takes forever for me to bake some wings and get a nice crisp skin. I was surprised they could bake them and get them out quick. The chicken is done, but the skin is nasty. Rib Tips, tough. I wanted to try some of the other options. I may still go for a salad, but otherwise, I will stick with the pizza which they do an amazing job at. Delivery area rocks.

Waldo pizza reminds me of going to Pizza Hut in the late 80's, early 90's. The atmosphere is dated, but comfortable. It's homey. In a good way. The pizza is always yummy. Never had bad food from here. Service can...depend. I like the curb-side pick-up option since parking can be tricky in the area. I recommend the honey-wheat crust, roasted red peppers and garlic. They do NOT scrimp with the roasted garlic. It's amazing. I want to try more of their desserts but the cookies are always a good choice!

First time at Waldo Pizza! Went on a Wednesday night, and it was pretty busy! So I wonder how crazy it gets on the weekends... But we were sat right away, the service was very good and they have little trivia cards which are fun! We go the taco specialty pizza which was good, and then I ordered a traditional pizza with cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño (GET THIS). It was very good!

I've lived in KC for 14 years and had never tried Waldo Pizza! Great service for our group of 14+ table. We ordered thin crust veggie, cheese and hamburger pizza and one cheese to go. The drinks were served fast and I loved their version of sangria. A complete cast of characters stopped by our table including the 1979 Disco King from Nebraska and a couple who cruised the world on a boat for 20 years. Never a dull moment and yummy pizza too!

I'm a total pizza addict, so this place was heaven to me. I've come here twice and absolutely LOVED it. I stumbled upon them on Groupon, where they had a promo for $25 worth of $40 food credit. My first visit was on a Friday, and the place was absolutely PACKED. It covered a wide demographic of customers, from young children, to college students to adults. The wait was about 15 minutes or so (to be expected), though, to pass the time, they had servers come by with pizza-based hor d'oeuvres for the hungry and waiting (awesome!). My boyfriend and I took the opportunity to look around at all the candy machines (felt like a little kid all over again). They even had temporary tattooes of popular meme characters (like our beloved grumpy cat), which I found a little hilarious. They have a very wide selection of beers, all of which are really interesting tastes. I had a beer that had a very berry (rasp- or cran-) taste to it...god, I wish I remembered the name of it, for the life of me. It was so awesome, sweet, but tasty. They also have a large selection of toppings - take advantage of this when you're visiting, as most pizza places DON'T EVEN COMPARE to the toppings they offer, not just in quality, but in taste. We ordered a large pizza with buffalo chicken, jalapeno bacon (literally...bacon soaked in jalapeno juices) and pepperoni - definitely my new topping favourite. We came back for a second visit within a week. The wings sides were OK, but the brownies were chewy and rich. I will definitely be living at this place the next time I head back to KC.

We had a take out order which took more than a hour to get. To top it off when we got there either a piece of the order was not prepared or it had already been given away. They remade the missing order however the sides and other pizza sat getting cold and stale. By the time the pizza was at the final designation it was cold, greasy and a huge mess to eat. I will say the worse experience ever should have just order delivery pizza and I hate delivery pizza.

  • Susan T.

I ordered a 12" pizza with half eggplant and sun dried tomatoes, the other half was asiago, pepperoni and bell peppers all on a hand tossed crust. I would not choose eggplant again, nor the hand tossed crust. I think my tastes have changed and I'd try the thin crust next time. I'm sure I'd like it better. My date liked his pepperoni half. A Crispin raspberry beer was fabulous! It was a busy place but we were able to sit at the bar and not have to wait 40 minutes for a table. The bartender who served us was great.

Waldo pizza is amazing. Their beer is amazing. Their salad bar is amazing. Every member of staff I've encountered is amazing. I crave their vegan pizza(I'm not vegan). So you have to wait? Excellence doesn't come quickly. I wish I could remember our favorite servers name, but I don't want to butcher it. All I know is that she is a goddamn Angel that wraps my leftovers up for me So I can take them home on my motorcycle. Thank you Waldo pizza, thank you.

Let me preface this by saying that I have been a Waldo Pizza regular for almost 5 years Every Wednesday night, we have come in to deplorable service (except for Marty), terrible food, poor management, and repeated abuse. Every week I personally tip better and better in an effort to enhance the service that we receive the next week. I would equate my relationship with Waldo Pizza as an abusive relationship. I get the shit beaten out of me every week, but I keep coming back to my abuser and his below average quality of life. The food - What can I say? It's terrible. Most of the time the pizza either takes forever to come out, makes me sick, or is made wrong. Their sandwiches are some of the most bland, unfulfilling pieces of garbage I've ever eaten. I would describe the chicken parm as eating "matter" at it's best. Absolutely void of all flavor, luke-warm, and encapsulated in a stale bun drenched in sub par marinara sauce, with a limp slice of cheese on top that would be more adequately described as a skin flap. The salad bar is okay. The service - For our first few months, we got Marty who is spectacular at his job. Endearingly friendly, attentive, and kind. The rest of the wait staff was either just released from jail or possibly some sort of asylum. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in the service industry. I have had servers blame me for food that was prepared poorly (the buffalo wings are habitually cold), and prepared wrong. I once had a server roll her eyes when the kitchen staff missed a topping on my pizza, then slam the new one down on a tray in front of me. Tonight I had my first interaction with a manager at Waldo. I can only describe him as "flat brim wearing douche". Our standing reservation had been "filled", as the manager walked by I politely asked "Hey are you the manager?" In an effort of good will to see if we could be seated elsewhere, even split up. The following are a series of things you as a manger do not say to a paying customer - "That's what it says on the name tag." In reference to me asking if he was manager. "What do you want me to do? Someone took your spot." "We're closing early anyway so you're kind of out of options." Waldo pizza, fuck you. Never again will I rush to the bathroom at 2am eating your shitty cheese crusts. Never again will I make nice with a waitress that looks at me like she deplores her job and everyone else in the building. Never again will I go through a list of 10 beers before finding one that you actually have in stock. Tonight is the end of this relationship.

We are old time patrons of Waldo. Unfortunately, it is not as customer/family friendly as in the past. When I ordered chicken pesto pizza, they brought out a pizza with a red pepper sauce. I am fine with the mix up just not how they handled it. To remedy their mistake, the manager offered a side dish of pesto sauce with a -$3.00 "oops" credit. That is like ordering spaghetti Alfredo, getting red sauce and being offered a side of white Alfredo sauce to put on top to make it right! Insulting and awkward for my family. No longer our go to place.

Most overrated place I've encountered in a while. As we scrolled through options on Yelp, sorted by rating, my coworker said "you can't mess up pizza too badly." When we walked in, the place felt somewhere between charming and dated. We were seated in a few minutes, then went for the lunch buffet. There was an OK selection of pizzas and salad bar. The salad had fresh greens but standard food service distributor dressings. I came for the pizza anyway. The pizza was below average. The cheese was standard middle to low-end food service distributor stuff, the crust chewy salty stuff slightly better than a frozen grocery store pizza. Was it awful? No. Disappointing? Yes. Is there better pizza out there? Yes, most places. It took a while to flag a waitress down and get our check, and my water went dry (see also: salty crust) several times. After my experience I had to go back to Yelp to see if I accidentally went to the wrong place. I expected 4.5 stars and got 2. Please, before you go here, read the reviews and ignore the star ratings. Many 4 and 5 star ratings actually contain significant complaints. This place is clearly overrated. Side note: KC, can you learn what 4 and 5 stars mean?

200+ reviews, so I'll keep it brief: Great beer selection. Apparently the wine list ain't bad either, but I haven't perused it myself. Ambiance is sufficient, though not spectacular. Pizza is good, but not my favorite in town. I did like the thin St. Louis style crust. Good vegetarian/vegan options, if that's your thing. Enormous dessert menu, including Baby Cakes!

I am giving waldo pizza a new rating because I have been there several times since I ordered a pizza that was missing a lot of cheese! Here's what happened: they recognized their mistake and saw my review and photo. I got a message apologizing and offering me a free pizza to compensate and to try to win back my business. Good for waldo pizza! They really DO appreciate the feedback and try to make up for it! Ever since then, I have not had ANY poor quality pizzas. Maybe I am the one person who got stuck with a lousy one that one particular day, but it has not happened since and we now love going back time again to see the friendly staff and eat the food.

I LOVE Waldo Pizzas with the thin crust! It's one of Kansas City's best places to enjoy pizza. The ambiance is very laid back, casual and fun! It's noisy enough to cover crying kids as well. :-) I'm not a big fan of their original crust which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Waldo Pizza is a Kansas City MUST!!!!!!! The lunch buffet is very fairly priced and the kitchen staff is quick to fulfill any special requests. The salad bar is always fresh and very well-stocked. The waitstaff is attentive and very friendly. We tend to avoid delivery as they seem to have a very long wait time. We do appreciate the fact that they now offer curbside pick up.

The BF and I went here for our final dinner during my weekend in KC. Being a Sunday evening, it wasn't busy, but our waiter was fast and friendly nonetheless. We ended up sharing a flight of beers (4 for $5 - how could we resist?) and building our own pizza. What was in the insanely delicious concoction that we created, you may ask? Behold, the Dice Roller (inside joke): - Honey wheat crust: baked to sweet, savory perfection - Goat cheese: because we're obsessed - Roasted chicken: to add a little protein - Basil: to add a little green - Pine nuts: because why not? - Sweet red peppers: because mama always said to eat your vegetables - Topped with crushed red peppers (obviously) Our custom creation was the bomb dot com, and the 12" size left us both completely satisfied and leaving with leftovers. Cheers Waldo, and if you go hiding, please don't take your pizza with you.

We ordered pizza on a very busy Saturday night....estimated delivery time was 90-100 minutes. the number of options they have for meats, cheeses, veggies, etc to customize your pizza is endless. One topping we elected was jalapeño bacon and be prepared this does have some good heat to it! We customized one pizza and did the Waldo combo for the other. I prefer a thin crust so if that is your thing go with the St. Louis crust. I also ordered a salad which was in rough shape by the time it hit here, too much wilted/soggy lettuce. Not sure what happened there. We also picked up an order of wings. Minus the salad our group of 4 was satisfied with what we got!

Great veggie/vegan options, amazing meat selections and great dough. Add some great beers a decent salad bar and friendly eclectic staff and you've got a great restaurant in the heart of Waldo. Also family friendly for the kiddos as it gets so loud you won't hear noisy little ones.

I love Waldo pizza. Their pizza is really good they have a great whole wheat crust and even offer vegan options if you are into that. My wife is a vegetarian and the Waldo veggie is great. They also have what I think is one of the best tap lists in KC. It's not the biggest, but everything on it is amazing. They really know how to pick their beers. And I honestly don't know how they sell their beer for so cheap. This is one of the reasons I keep going back. A great place either just for beer in the taproom with friends or for pizza with the whole family.

My favorite pizza place. Definitely the best St. Louis style pizza in Kansas City. My daughter really likes the spaghetti. Always friendly service. Good salad bar. Huge selection of beer. Oh...and i almost forgot about the great little mints they give you after dinner! It can be crowded and a little noisy on weekend evenings. Parking is very limited and can be a challenge, especially in inclement weather.

Best Gluten Free Pizza in KC! My husband gets the original crust and I have to eat gluten free. Their gluten free pizza is the best in town. It's not the best I have ever had though. My top picks for gluten free pizza in the USA are at a Mellow Mushroom location ( Lincoln is where I fell in love with it) and my number one pick is Transfers in Milwaukee. However, that being said Waldo Pizza is the number one pizza place to go to in Kansas City. Their Chicken wings are sooooo good! Excellent Beer Selection! The even have my favorite gluten free beer here: Omission by Widmer. They offer a huge dessert selection and just as large gluten free dessert selection. The GF lemonade cake is my favorite. Oh and if your also allergic to dairy like I am ( no fun) they have vegan cheese options. Multiple options! The Follow Your heart vegan mozzarella is my favorite but they also have Daiya vegan cheeses. I almost forgot to mention their salad bar and sandwiches--- excellent! What's a salad bar without a good dressing choice. They have it. Unique and yummy dressing choices make their salad bar worth a trip. I have also tried their GF Meatball sub and it was very very good. I don't know of any other place in town that has a gluten free meatball sub sandwich. Atmosphere is just what you want in a good pizza place too. Great place for kids and adults. However there is a review on here about this place highlighting all their health code violations that is very concerning. I should pay more attention next time I visit. The managers response is even more concerning. Maybe I will just have to go with good old fashion denial and give this place a pass for now. :)

Arguably the best pizza place in the KC metro. Their pizza is always extremely fresh and delicious, and if you are dining in, it may take a while to bake, but it is always worth it. Perfect crust and a tasty unique sauce set them apart for many other pizza places throughout the Kansas City area. Good atmosphere & location as well! I usually go for their Choice Cut (Meat Specialty) Pizza, but have never had a type of pizza here that I don't like. Their classic pepperoni is a great start for first-timers. In Summary, great local pizza place with a casual atmosphere that is definitely in the league of Minsky's, Emo's and D'Bronx for awesome local Kansas City pizza places.

I absolutely love this place. It's never been bad and we've been going there since '96. The pizza is fantastic if you like St Louis thin crust style. The salad bar is always fresh and never disappoints. When we lived in brookside, we went more often, but we make a point of going every time we're in the area. It's worth it!

After trying Waldo pizza this evening (after reading all of the praise on Yelp) it is quite obvious that Kansas City has no idea what a real pizza tastes like - seriously I've had better frozen pizza! Sadly disappointed.

I grew up in Waldo, so I have an affinity toward Waldo Pizza. Their pizza is some of the best in town (D'Bronx may be better), but this place has charm for days. Get the St. Louis style to try out since that style of pizza is not offered everywhere. Great salad bar as well.

This is without a doubt THE BEST PIZZA IN THE KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN AREA. I have been eating and enjoying pizza here since 2000 and it has never let me down. Never. This place has a very unpretentious small town, low-key feel. It's run by a guy named Phil who you will likely see running pizzas and more importantly, running his restaurant. That's right, most nights, the owner is actually present in the restaurant keeping things afloat. This is the secret ingredient in the pizza, and it makes all the difference. I'm not even going to review the food, it's good, seriously good, ridiculously good, mind-blowingly good, like you can't go wrong unless your terrible at ordering pizza, in which case, order one of the specials. My personal go-to is half Canadian Bacon and Pineapple, half Chicken, Roma Tomatoes, and Roasted Garlic. Try it. If you go here enough, you'll start to notice that this place has several career employee's, people who have been there for years. This is the mark of a quality establishment, full of people who love their job and who always offer exceptional service. Being the unpretentious place it is, it has an exceptional beer and wine selection. This is thanks to Phil, who also has a proclivity for quality craft beer. While I love the extensive menu, you can't go wrong with a pitcher of Kansas City's finest Boulevard Wheat Beer. Don't forget the lemon slice! Be prepared to wait for a table and take the sign at the front very seriously "It's worth the wait." That's not just a cheesy piece of decor, it's a warning, a serious warning that is trying to explain the pure goodness you will miss out on if your are really that impatient. The best things in life are worth waiting for, and this is one of those best things in life, so sit your a** down or stand awkwardly in the windowsill of the front entrance of this gem and be prepared for the ride of your life. I hope this place stays in Kansas City forever. Phil, if you ever close this place, I will personally kick your a**. You better find me first, I'll buy it and keep it alive just like you have. Thank you for your years of hard work, dedication, and service to the community. I love you Waldo Pizza.

Hidden gem in Waldo! As a NYer I'm very picky abt my pizza, and this is the only place in KC that has top notch pizza... Where else can you make your own pizza with pulled pork and burnt ends?? Their gluten free crust is my favorite along with their Mac and cheese. They also have a tap room with an awesome beer selection. Highly recommend!

Fantastic pizza in kansas city. So impressed with the service and menu. Ordered the st louis style cheese and a prime cuts with half local pig! Amazing! The local pig that day had an amazing lamb sausage and potato topping....incredible. Ive traveled the world far and wide and truly rate this pizza restaurant in my top 7.

Worst gluten free pizza I've ever had. The crust was so soggy I had to eat with a fork. The restaurant was also very dirty. The place has really gone downhill in recent years. Will not be back.

Went here with a party of 5 on a Sunday for dinner. I haven't had taco pizza in a while and read on reviews and such that theirs was good. I had amazing taco pizza years ago and have continued to search for something that comes close. I was not disappointed. Our waitress was nice and had an interesting sense of humor. They had a decent beer menu that was priced right. The food menu is relatively extensive and has vegan and gluten free options as well. We ordered a taco pizza (actually called "Waldo Tex Mex") and the Local Pig pizza, which I think was brisket that night. The waitress suggested bbq sauce and red onions, which ended up being a great suggestion. The taco pizza was really delicious. Last time I had taco pizza they cooked the lettuce and it was too wilted and pretty gross. This pizza, however, was done right. The pizza was topped with meat, black olives, cold cheddar cheese (in addition to the melted cheese cooked on the pizza), and some other things. They probably only cooked the pizza with the meat and cheese (and maybe olives) on top, and added everything else afterwards. It was really good and worth the price (around $20 for 14 inch). The Local Pig was very good too. We ordered two 14 inch pizzas and ate it all between 5 hungry people (we left one slice that we couldn't possibly stuff in). I will definitely be back here, both to hang out and have a few drinks, and enjoy some delicious pizza.

When my boss orders lunch for us, it's typically from Waldo Pizza--she loves it. Hence, I'd had their veggie pizza and regular pepperoni lots of times before I actually ordered from them for myself. Their veggie is good, and you can get a lot of stuff besides olives and onions. I think it's a big plus that their peppers are sliced big, not just tiny diced pieces that can get lost in the cheese on some pizzas. Their pepperoni is even better, and DEFINITELY a big step up from Domino's/Pizza Hut/all the other chain pizza places. A lot more character and flavor here. But because I always had it at work events, I never realized how many possible toppings they have. The pizzas I had recently were a Choice Cut pizza (which is one of their specialty pizzas, full of meat) and a pizza with burnt ends and red onion, both on a traditional hand-tossed crust. Sometimes I don't like meaty pizzas, but this one was fantastic. It actually had room to taste everything, not just layers of meat on meat on meat (if that's your thing, cool - but I like to be able to taste different things in different bites). The burnt end pizza was awesome. We ordered delivery on a Saturday night, and we were told the wait was 45 to 75 minutes. I think it got there at right about an hour, which isn't unusual for a popular pizza delivery place on a weekend night at 9 pm. It took us forever to choose what to get, because they have a ton of different toppings and combinations you could do. A TON. My boyfriend doesn't like any exotic toppings (I wanted goat cheese and almonds) so I'll definitely order again to get whatever I want. Plus, I think it's awesome that they have so many desserts and cupcakes!

Very tasty pizza and a great selection of beers on tap. The service is prompt, and the prices are reasonable. The honey wheat crust is the best, but the thin crust also has merit. Overall, a really solid pizza place that has a great beer menu.

It doesn't get better than Waldo Pizza, unless it's restaurant week at Waldo Pizza! This place is a regular haunt for us, so we were thrilled when we saw we could even go for restaurant week. They really had a great offer, $30 for two! The meal included an appetizer, a specialty pizza, two desserts and two beverages (alcohol included ) or a bottle of wine! See what I'm saying, what a deal for $30! The best part of the deal was that we tried things we had never had before (we are usually just pizza and salad bar patrons). We thoroughly enjoyed the wings (half hot, half BBQ); we will definitely be adding them to our orders! The pizza was as good as ever, we enjoyed the thin crust Choice Cut. We had to have our dessert packed to go, but boy did we enjoy it later in the evening. Fresh baked cookies - our favorites were the gooey butter cookies. Five stars, as usual!

One of my favorite restaurants in KC. Loved it before I went vegan and love it even more now that I am. They have an all vegan menu with vegan cheeses and meats and even give you vegan mints with your bill. Ask for the "Ardell" blend of three vegan cheeses, it is not on menu but it is the way to go.

If a review was based strictly off the food, this would be at least a 4, as the pizza is awesome, a little pricey, but awesome. The service however, well...I just don't even think it can be called service. I asked for a water, had to steal someone's at the table because it never came. We asked for a few random things, never got any of them. The waitress just seemed like she wasn't with it. Cold night and there's two doors, a main one and a side. The side door wouldn't stop being used, so we froze the entire time we were there. I think if we come again, we'll just get it to go.

*Sigh* as a recent KC transplant this is one of those "locals love it because it has been around a hundred years and you can't change their hometown love of this place" type of establishment. On a Friday night we waited an hour to get a table...Do not get me wrong I have no problem waiting for a table at a place if I am being served some of the best food I have ever had but this is an average at best pizza place. Once we were seated we ordered an order of garlic cheese bread as an appetizer and the taco pizza for the main course. The garlic cheese bread was amazingly good (maybe cause we were really hungry after waiting an hour). The taco pizza arrived (12" was plenty for just the two of us) it was just OK. We selected the chorizo for the meat option hoping to give this some spiciness but it fell flat. tasted more like seasoned ground beef (maybe they got it wrong and switched it to ground beef but it had the texture of pork) it was lacking sauce, as in, it barely had any on it. I did enjoy the roasted corn they added to it as their own twist to a taco pizza but other than that this was pretty subpar. All in all this is probably more of a 2.5 stars foodwise but I did like the beer selection they had so I settled on 3 stars. Do not worry kids I will search out the best pizza place in the KC area and report back here on Yelp. Stay tuned!

Looks like they are staunch supporters of Blvd. Brewery - they have a selection of beer on tap and in the bottle. After being told they no longer have the Green Flash Palate Wrecker, the waitress suggested an Odell Myrcenary Double IPA and brought me a small sample. I love that they use beer appropriate glasses! The pizza was magnifico! We had the Waldo Combo on the St Louis thin crust. This crust is extra thin and glazed with garlic butter. The cheese they use is OMG creamy and full of awesome (Mozzarella, Provolone, Swiss and Cheddar)! The combo comes with hamburger, Canadian bacon, pork sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and black olives. The amount of each topping was perfect for the thin crust. They had some crazy special that was a variety of breakfast stuff on a pizza. Additionally, they have a ton of toppings to offer, including burnt ends, if you are inclined to be creative. Our service was good. The environment was a bit noisy as we appear to have hit kid hour (12:45 on a Sunday) but not so much that we weren't able to converse with and enjoy our company. I think Waldo might mysteriously start being on my route home once a week.

I have dined in at Waldo many times. It has been good. But when I tried to get a delivery they said I would have to pay with a credit or debit card as a first time delivery customer. Their logic was they didn't know if I was squatting in an apartment, or going to rob them. I found that to be incredibly flawed logic. I have had my identity stolen and am Leary of giving my credit or debit info over the phone. Waldo seems to believe the worst in their customers to have a business model like that. I will not be going back.

I happen to come across this place after leaving the bar across the street. The place seem nice so I decided to walk in and grab a pizza. We ordered for pick up, and sat at the front of the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to look around the restaurant but so far it looked very nice. The staff was friendly as we waited for pizza. It took about the average time you get any pizza from anywhere else. The pizza looks great but it tasted funny some kind of sweet aftertaste. I love salt so maybe that was my issue with this pizza. The crust was soft and somewhat chewy almost like gum in a sense. I had ordered the olives and mushrooms pizza and they failed to put enough mushroom on the pizza. Again nice place but not for my taste buds I won't be returning.

For Yelp Review Number 200, I wanted to save it for a special occasion and Waldo Pizza is more than special enough. There's simply nothing critical I can say about them. They have two locations - one in Waldo (go figure), and one in Lee's Summit. I've been to each dozens of times and I've never felt anything other than joy. Yes Joy. The kind of feeling that a corporate restaurant can't offer. True, not every experience was perfect, but each time they reinforced why I drive twice as far as I would drive for any other restaurant. They have a generous beer menu with a lot of specialty beers by bottle and tap. There are a handful of wines as well. There's a good assortment of appetizers and salads and they're probably the most vegan friendly of the non-vegan restaurants in KC. They have several options of vegan "meats" and cheeses - none of while Ive tried would disappoint anyone. Amazing owners, great product, wonderful staff. Waldo Pizza just sets the bar.

Waldo sets a great example to local restaurants because it has not changed a bit with the success it has experienced. It's the same old reliable and amazing pizza place it's always been. Over the years I have cycled through the menu and different style crusts, and came to the conclusion that the St. Louis style takes the gold. For those of us who found a way to make pizza even unhealthier, go with the garlic ranch to dip it in. I'd probably order a pint of it if they'd let me. This is also a good place to take any family members or friends that are stuck on chain restaurants. Granted, that's not the Yelp community, but I know that at some point we all come into a meal with someone who is keeping "Applebee's" in business and need to compromise somewhere to get them to break out. This place is crowd pleasing enough, yet very local (they even have/used to have KC specific Trivial Pursuit on the tables). The other best and different pizza options in my opinion are Minsky's, D'Bronx, and Pizza 51.

Don't get me wrong, the pizza is AWSOME!! BUT..... The service is spotty and never order delivery, it will always be a 2 hour wait and it will always arrive ice cold. Carry out, it's a good option, the wait time is never bad but I just received my carry out pizza and for the fourth time in a row, it was wrong. Do there cooks even bother to read the tickets they are given?

Great tasting pizza. I ordered Saint Louis style. I love their thin crust but provel cheese is horrible and should be considered a crime against humanity. Thankfully, the lady on the phone offered to switch provel for a better cheese. They charged a delivery fee which I wasn't too keen about. I prefer it when pizza places have a minimum purchase amount for delivery.

We stopped into Waldo Pizza for a little dinner on a Thursday night. The place was busy, but we were able to get a table immediately. The menu is diverse, and as many have mentioned in other reviews, offers many gluten free/vegetarian options. For your meat-eater, get the Choice Cut. You will not be disappointed - bacon, pepperoni, local Scimeca's sausage, hamburger, and Canadian bacon, and it's all delicious. Positives: -Great menu with a lot of options. -Awesome beer/drink menu that is always changing. -Fantastic service. Fast, friendly, and efficient. -Fun location, smack in the middle of Waldo. Negatives: -Wish it was a little closer to home -A bit spendy, but to me, the price is worth it. Minsky's probably still holds my vote as the #1 KC Pizza, but Waldo Pizza is a very close second. Can't wait to go back...

I usually only come here for take-out, and honestly, we all know how awesome the pizza is already. Great St. Louis style pizza for those of you who lean that way. But this is the first time I've actually gone here to eat inside. It was a Friday evening and one of craziest, most chaotic places I've been in since I was at a 6 year old's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. We walked in and over half the tables were empty. The hostess said it would be 45 minutes to wait for one. Uh...ok. But she offered the window bar so that's where we sat. Unfortunately, this was right in front of a video game area that contained every screaming, obnoxious, ill-behaved child in Kansas City. It was utter chaos. Where were these kids' parents? Is Waldo Pizza also operating as a daycare? I don't mean to sound like an old cranky woman, but seriously. If I had acted like that as a kid in a restaurant, my mom would have beaten the shit out of me and never taken me out in public again. Fortunately, our waitress was AWESOME! She was so happy, cheerful and witty! She was clearly exasperated by the kid craziness, but she was so incredibly attentive and funny, she was just trying to make the best out of the situation. We loved her! So, while I will still get pick-up and delivery because I love the pizza...I will probably avoid eating here during peak times when children may be loose and wild. Seriously. Parents? Teach your kids to act like human beings in public. Restaurants are not the playground at McDonald's.

This place is off the chart good!!!!!!!!!! My son-in-law & I ordered some chicken wings. Good flavor, nice and crispy . Some of the best I have had, outside of my own:) The blue cheese dressing is sooooooo good. I told the waitress that I could actually drink the stuff:)) She said they made it there and I could buy it, I believe it was a quart, for 3 dollars. If I hadn't been flying home in a few hours I would have purchased some. For sure when I drive out there one of these days, I will be purchasing some to bring home. I had the philly chicken sandwich. It was soooo good. Loved the bread, plenty of cheese on it. Can't wait till the next time. For now I'll just have to dream about that blue cheese dressing:)

Waldo Pizza: reasonable prices, a classic casual atmosphere, good variety on the menu, and decent portions. I have pleasure my senses (most of them -- sorry there wasn't much for you, hearing) and my digestive tract with a plethora of pizzas, several sandwiches - most recently the pork belly sandwich (which was properly delectable) - and chicken wings. They also have a wide selection of what I deem to be the best brewed beverage: beer.

Of course, like everyone else we love this place. The salad bar always hits the spot and their breakfast pizza is amazing but make sure to save some room for the butterscotch custard. I didn't think I liked butterscotch until I tasted this masterpiece. Their entire dessert menu is amazing. Waldo Pizza is more than just pizza.

Waldo Pizza is delicious. We try to limit our visits to once per week. We have had nothing but stellar service, albeit the problem of making a reservation one night. Originally we were told that, to make reservations for dinner, we would have to call after 4:00 p.m. We called after 4:00 p.m. and were then told that we could no longer make reservations for that evening. We ended up waiting half an hour to get a table for four. No big deal. The wait is definitely worth it for the pizza. Our favorite place to sit is in the Tap Room, which can be crowded at times. We enjoy sitting at the bar. If we decide to stay at home that night, we have no issue picking up pizza and creating the Waldo Pizza experience at home by drinking some champagne and going through our own Trivial Pursuit cards. We love Waldo Pizza so much that we decided to stay in our pajamas for New Year's Eve and just order carryout. I have been to the lunch buffet one time and it seemed to have many options for those without dietary restrictions. As a vegetarian, I was limited to one pizza and one pasta dish, but I did have the option of requesting a different pizza to be made and added to the buffet. Our usual order consists of the following: A pitcher of something on tap (or if we can't decide, I'll have Dark Horse Distillery Reunion Rye Whiskey) Garlic Cheese Bread (if you don't eat anything else, do order this...) Red Onion and Mushroom Pizza - Thin Crust, Spicy Red Sauce (for me) Sun-dried Tomato and Kalamata Olive - Thin Crust, Spicy Red Sauce (for my significant other) Gooey Butter Cake and Chocolate Sin Cake - to be eaten simultaneously

Had it the other night with some friends when I was in town. My friend that was hosting us and his wife swore by it, so we got a few. It wasn't bad, but I would say it was just mediocre. The crust reminded me of a half-hearted cornbread, the sauce was almost non-existant, and the cheese was a bit meh. Not offensive enough to not eat, but I can't imagine wanting to get it again. Ever.

Pizza is superb. Other food, not so much, the spaghetti tastes refrigerated. But hey I'm a food snob so who knows. They still get 5 stars from me because of their pizza and beer choices. Also, the servers are great. Customer service is a dying art these days, but not at Waldo Pizza.

Waldo pizza is some of the best in Kansas City. Of course, compared to the best from Chicago or the Northeast, that isn't saying much. My wife and I asked the waitress for the "Local Pig" special after being told it was sausage that day. Naturally we assumed we were going to get a sausage pizza. Unfortunately we got a breakfast pizza. Yes, the sausage was on it, but it wasn't was we were expecting. The waitress simply needed to slip in the word "breakfast" into her description and our disappointment could have been averted. Otherwise, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was good.

Who would have thought that this small, local pizza place would be a mini gluten-free heaven? A ton of gluten-free and vegan options. I was impressed with the gluten free menu - not only do they offer pizza but they also had a bunch of gluten free appetizers such as GF garlic bread which I have yet to have seen offered elsewhere! Despite that, I didn't want to go overboard and skipped the apps and just ordered a small (6") gluten-free thin crust pizza. Love that you can build your own pizza from a very long list of ingredients. The crust was really good, sauce was not sweet which is a plus and the cheese was mild and tasty mozzarella - SO good! And to top things off, she even gave me a gluten free mint when I was done with my meal. My husband went with the lunch buffet which really could not be beat - unlimited pasta, salad, and pizza for under $10! He also was impressed with their really large selection of some of his favorite craft beers. Our server was super friendly, attentive and fast. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly my pizza came out of the oven. We loved how they also have a bunch of old Trivial Pursuit cards at each table so we were able to get our trivia on during our meal which was great. Absolutely loved this place and would most definitely come here over any pizza chain ANY day! Wish they delivered to Chicago...

We just went to Waldo Pizza for dinner. I was pretty disappointed about everything. The decor was uninspired (with hideous sinks in the bathrooms), Costco has better pizza, and the general manager was really rude. We got the veggie combo on regular crust and it was generally bland. The pizza also was crispy on the bottom, but bread-y near the toppings. That happens when there are too many toppings. Which reminds me - there were way too many black olive slices. There must have been handfuls of those, but there were only four artichoke hearts and a sad, single slice of mushroom. I never saw any green pepper. If we had been interested in eating olive pizza, we would have ordered it. When we got the bill, someone at our table asked about a discount and the server said she wasn't sure if it would apply. The general manager came out and told our friend that he was not getting a discount. Someone at our table joked that it was "only applied by the other manager". The manager snapped at her that "I am the general manager and I am sure that this discount has never been applied." Our friend said that she had been joking and the manager then proceeded to stare her down and talk about her authority in the restaurant. Ugh. So crazy and obnoxious. We won't be returning. If we want pizza we'll hit up the costco or make our own pizza from scratch. Either way it'll be more fun.

Aye! Waldo Pizza! I do love pizza, and this weekend I had a lot of pizza. Waldo pizza gets a ton of hype it seams like. Its good, but I'm not sure it really lives up to all the hype. Don't get me wrong the place is solid. The beer selection is excellent and in my eyes probably outshines the pizza they put out. I've had the veggie, Waldo Combo, and Chicken/Pineapple/redonion (one of my personal combo favs) on different visits. I also make sure to order some t-ravs on my visits because I'm addicted to them like flys on... maple bacon syrup. The staff is great too, I've never had an issue with staff here, they are on that perfect line of present enough to keep my glass full but not enough to become a burden. If I'm planning a night in Waldo and I happen to be hungry I will stop by, but I can think of a few pizza places that are closer to me that would win the bet.

Best pizza in Kansas City. My wife and I love Waldo Pizza whether we eat in, pick-up or get delivery. They also have great Gooey Butter Cake which always reminds us of home in Saint Louis. They have a nice salad bar and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming; great for families, watching the Chiefs/Royals or just hanging with friends.

I have to say, reading the negative reviews of Waldo Pizza is pretty entertaining. My favorite is the one that starts by saying "Let me preface this by saying that I have been a Waldo Pizza regular for almost 5 years" then says "The food -What can I say? It's terrible." If I encounter a place I find the food to be terrible, I don't go back, much less become a "regular." As an actual regular at Waldo Pizza, let me say that it is not fast food (it is quite popular and busy, and they make every pizza from scratch), and it is not cheap, but the pizza is ALWAYS great. I am a foodie. My wife and love to try new restaurants and we frequently check out new locations in Kansas City, but we have a handful of places we go back to on a regular basis. Waldo Pizza is our regular pizza place. They have a wide variety of unique ingredients and combinations to choose from to put on your pizza, a great beer selection, and the honey wheat crust is fantastic. If you're looking for generic, flavorless pizza, then feel free to try any of the chain pizza places around, but if you've got the time and a couple extra bucks to have some great pizza at a place with character and a nice beer selection, then Waldo Pizza is what you're looking for.

First and foremost, any restaurant that will give you 50% off your dessert if you eat it first is top notch in my book. We had a pretty darn tasty (and huge!) piece of carrot cake before our pizzas and it was a really good way to start the meal. The hubby and I ordered two small pizzas because he wanted vegan cheese and I did not. I tasted his pizza with the vegan mozzarella and I have to say that it was really pretty darn good. I ordered my pizza on a honey wheat crust with shrimp, avocados, goat cheese and smoked gouda. It was absolutely scrumptious. I think one of the best things about Waldo Pizza is their choices. Lots of unique possibilities for your pizza and they offer three selections of crust. They also have a great selection of beers. The ambiance isn't anything to write home about, but seems perfect for this restaurant. Our service was fast and incredibly pleasant. There are Trivial Pursuit cards at the tables and playing cards on the ceilings.

I've eaten here a handful of times over the past couple of years. The pizza is pretty good here if you order from the menu but be warned, the pizza buffet is "hit or miss". I don't know if it's a weird topping I'm not liking, but whenever I get the buffet about half of the pizza I eat has a very weird taste to say the least. I must say that ordering straight from the menu has always worked out for me, so I may just do that next time I stop in for lunch. Something else worth mentioning is that the beer selection is superb! They had boulevard dry stout on tap until boulevard stopped brewing it :( and also many other excellent beers that will please any beer snob.

The pizza is good. It's fresh, they aren't scrimping on ingredients and it's perfectly seasoned. Easy to go overboard on things like sauce, cheese, salt, but none of that here. Great craft beer selection, service was pleasant. Got the thin crust and it's flavorful, not oversalted or suffering from many other sins I could list. Not a criticism necessarily but they have an odd way of explaining the size of their pizzas. They point to the light which is shaded by three pizza pans with holes in them. Sort of like being questioned with a bright light in your face. Weird, but tolerable I guess. No pretense about the interior. It's just sort of plain old nothing fancy, and I can do without the gaudy decorations some places spring on you in an attempt to--do whatever it is they think those things do. Solid. Wouldn't hesitate to return here.

My boyfriend and I ordered pizza from this restaurant a few days ago and will definitely be back! We ordered a Waldo Combo on honey wheat and it was so tasty! Some of the veggies were cut a little unevenly, but otherwise we enjoyed every slice. We also ordered a caesar salad and the garlic cheese bread. The salad was very good and I love that they put the dressing on the side for us. The garlic cheese bread wasn't very garlicky...or cheesy, but it isn't worth taking any stars away. I loved the marinara dipping sauce that came with the bread - I always think that is a nice touch.

What a great anchor for the Waldo neighborhood. A great place for families, friends or even the occasional solo hangout at the bar. Their beer selection can't be beat with very fair pricing. I love their Philly Cheese Chicken sandwich with a side of potato wedges, perfect for sharing for those with smaller appetites. The guys in my group swear by the meat pizza the one with all the meats, not sure of the name. They substitute the hamburger for bacon and buy one of the many delicious beer or wine selections to accompany it. We always have great servers, I love how they are all down to earth. It's like getting dinner from your friend! We go here a lot, we order out from here a lot, we can't wait to try their take and bake option soon. It's a great place and wonderful atmosphere with the local artists on the walls that change out periodically.

My new addiction. Two visits in about 30 hours early last week and I am convinced. Waldo Pizza proper has never had any reason to have to convince me to enjoy their pizzas and beer selection on occasion but now, they may just have to beg me to leave. I first stumbled into the Taproom out of necessity. I was lost looking for a friend's house for a Super Bowl party. Because everyone was watching the game, my 10 calls and dozen or so text messages went unanswered. Rather than drive all the way back to the Crossroads to find a place to watch closer to home, I figured I'd go have a beer. I mean, it is Waldo. If you can't ind some beer in that area, you're doing it wrong. I could not have been luckier in my choice of bar. All of the tv's in the bar had the game on, with surround sound playing throughout the bar, the very empty bar! I was the only one sitting at the actual bartop except for one regular customer, and then a table of people behind me. It was the perfect setting to be able to watch the game but also feel at home while being there alone. Sadly, the more rare choices of beer that I wanted to try: Nebraska Brewing on tap etc, were gone-no surprise-but I was pleased with the selection that I was able to choose from once we figured out what all was actually in stock. The breadsticks I got to help absorb the alcohol until I was able to leave for my party were good! The sauces was nice and tomato-y and had a great consistency while the simple breadsticks were garlicky and buttery, but not overly so. Great combination! The staff there, even in their boredom at being so slow on a Sunday night, were all really friendly, and funny. The bartender (I think his name is Jake?) was helpful and told me about a Brewery Preview party they were hosting the next night. Hence my reason for going back for a second visit so soon! When you drink rare beer, timing is everything. I do not hold it against them that they were out of two or there of the beers I wanted to have either of the nights I was there. That's just the name of the game. And that is a game that will keep me coming back to Waldo Pizza Taproom for both pizza AND beer in the future...just hopefully not at the two visits in a day kind of pace!

When my fiance lived near the Waldo in Lees Summit, we were regulars. However, since she moved to the good side of the state line, I haven't been back in a while, and I have never been to the actual Waldo location in Waldo. Shame on me. We were early on a Saturday and seated immediately after my fiance arrived. I was already grabbing a beer in the Tap Room next door, which I highly recommend. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered two small pizzas - one with burnt ends, and one with cream cheese and bacon. The burnt ends pizza was no stranger to us, but we were presented with an option not offered previously - bbq sauce instead of tomato sauce. Sure, why not. The pizzas were quick. The burnt ends pizza wasn't quite as good as we remembered it. For one, the bbq sauce just made it slightly too sweet, and next time we will stick with traditional tomato sauce. The other issue was that the burnt ends themselves were not as good as we are used to. They seemed chewier and of slightly less quality. The cream cheese and bacon, however, was fantastic. Big pieces of cream cheese, and plenty of bacon crumbles. I do like that they use crumbled bacon, as opposed to Minsky's which just uses vertical slices where you don't have nearly as much bacon coverage on your slice. Prices are fair. The atmosphere is relaxed. The decor is a bit run down but what you would expect. Definitely the best pizza in KC, along with Rosati's (says the Chicagoan in me).

If you are in the mood for good pizza (I do not mean the chain variety), good beer, and a relaxed atmosphere, Waldo Pizza is your spot. We had a great time, enjoyed the pizza, and a sampler flight of four different beers for $5. Be sure to check there website for information on the various specials and coupons available throughout the week!

Oh Waldo Pizza . . . what can I say . . . I love your thin crust, I love your wheat crust, heck I love your regular too. I'm a fan of it all. The lunch buffet is one of the best deals in town, $6.99 ($8.99 with a drink) all you can eat . . . and they serve it on Saturdays. Last time I went they had Mac & Cheese on the buffet, and I feel so lucky to have gotten some, they ran out after my first pass through. For a "buffet" dish, it was SO good. Please make this a regular cast member of your lunch buffet!

Loud, extremely loud, head ache forming loud....with all the perfection of Waldo Pizza.. I don't drink much cause normally I have to drive. I am unimpressed with beer selections, unimpressed with cocktails, and I don't go to Waldo Pizza to drink. I've been to 3 events in the tap room, 2 of which did not involve alcohol, one of which could've. All three were noisy, as if the noise reverberated off the wall. It's so loud you can't have a general conversation. All in all, I love Waldo Pizza so much. It is a favorite, as is Grinders. The service in the tap room is great. I've never had issues with it, but the loud echo isn't quite what I enjoy. I think the Tap Room is very cool, but needs better acoustics before I become a regular there.

Reserved a table in the Tap Room for my birthday back in September. Though the place was packed, our server did a great job of being attentive to our table. He kept our glasses full, took a group picture for me, and I even got a free dessert. (The bacon maple ice cream is awesome!) The pumpkin beer was superb. Waldo's Pizza was already my favorite pizza place in KC and now the Tap Room has made them even better.

Good pizza and great beer flights. Old fashion salad bar with good selection. I got the thin crust, St Louis style pizza. Very little sauce. Ask for extra sauce on the side for dipping. The Monday night pizza deal is nice.

There is a T-shirt on the wall in the old side of this place that says Corporate Pizza Sucks. lol That about sums it up, eh? Employees that you might find bailing work for the Occupy protests? Maybe a few work here. But wait folks, this is a PROFITABLE business and is no longer alternative... it is popular. Waldo has more than one location now, too. So, roll that knowledge in your 1.5's, hippy freaks, and smoke it real nice and slow. After all that BS, I'll just have some food, thank you. : ) The service here is pretty good during lunch, depending on who you get. My server was all over it.. And that is cool to have someone working hard when there is a lunch buffet and the tips can be a bit subdued. On the said buffet you will find a pretty good salad bar with decent ingredients and house made dressings. It does not look like much but it is quietly impressive if you know what you are doing. Most people don't... opting for lettuce, meat, cheese, and dressing. Come ON!!! How about no lettuce, some beets, some hard boiled egg, a little ham, a sprinkle of seasoned feta, and a drizzle of house ranch. That is just one example of classic flavor combinations you can pull off here. As for the pizza, I have had too many to get specific. I do like the thin crust best here... they do use Provel on it. It is a processed cheese of St Louis origin (gasping hippies... I know... especially when the trademark is owned by corporate giant, Kraft Foods). Screw it... I love it anyway. But it does melt 'wet' and makes the center slices soggy sometimes depending on the moisture of the other ingredients. However it cools and firms into a wonderful flavor. The hand tossed/traditional crust has a fermented beer/yeast punch to it that I quite like as well, but it is often not done enough for my tastes, which lay on the edge of burnt. The other nod to St Louis is the Gooey Butter Cake, which was also invented there and has resulted in many a sugar coma over the years. I recommended it as well. The cake... not the coma. ; ) I do not drink at lunch and rarely drink when dining out period... but the beer is a serious thing here. What is better than good pizza and craft beer?

So... I work really close to waldo pizza.. and its like less than 2 mins drive out for me so it was really convenient. Until the day I met someone up for lunch, we both got the salad and pizza buffet w/ pasta. We sit down and start eating.. I find a hair in the pasta, she finds one in hers too! AND THEN she found a hair in her pizza..... We were done.... I decided to go back today.. like 3 months after the last incident. And I only got a salad.. to go. I come back to my office and start eating when.... I see a bug on the eggs that I had put in my salad. Again... I was done... They have a sign above the buffet bar saying "Don't get food if you're not going to eat it..." Well hell, don't make me want to throw this food away all the time!! Never going back... ughhh.

I am never disappointed whenever we go to Waldo's Pizza. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because sometimes the food at the salad bar looks a little iffy and the food is a tad pricey. Good beer selection. Awesome staff. Everyone is very nice and super helpful. Try the taco pizza, it's delicious.

Tried this place while I was in Kansas City last weekend and absolutely loved it. We went there strait off the plane so we got there abut 30 minutes before closing. Being a server myself I know how annoying that can be, but the server was very nice and took great care of us. This place has a million options; especially those with difficult diets like gluten free or vegan. I had an amazing pasta alfredo; some of the best pasta I've had in a long long time. Then we also got a taco pizza and a vegan pizza with jalapenos, zucchini and vegan sausage. I'm usually a bit skeptical about vegan substitutes like cheese and sausage, but the vegan topings here were actually very good. I highly recommend this place; especially if you are dining with any kinds of difficulties.

OMG Waldo, you put cheddar cheese on my pizza! Next time, just slather on some mayo as well. AND overpriced. Wanted to like my neighborhood pizza joint, nice place, but jeez I couldn't handle their pizza. Life is too short for this stuff. update: Well, Waldo Pizza offered a free pizza to me because of my unkind review, and I am very grateful of this righteous display of customer service. Bravo for their dedication to the customer experience!! The service was fantastic, and we got a pepperoni pizza, thin crust, and extra sauce. No funny cheeses this time, just good ol' mozzerella. The sauce, now that I could taste it, was outstanding. The crust was really good as well. I still have some problems with the cheese-- It really pools up with grease and seems to be of a lower quality. Perhaps I have this wrong, but for me it was a hindrance to the enjoyment of an otherwise excellent pizza. I started with 1 star and increased it to three because of their superior customer service.

2 specialty pizzas for $40?! I rarely check prices or my receipts but after this little pizza joint, perhaps I should be a bit more attentive. HA. We ordered the texmex and hawaiian pizza to go so I can't speak for the service. Not sure they warranted the $20/pie but it did satisfy my pizza craving for the evening.

Good pizza, their valet makes getting in and out so much easier as Waldo is a High Traffic area now. I haven't been inside and I'm giving it 4 stars till I do. But the pizza at the price was amazing and we didn't even have to get out of the car in the dead of winter. This is how you make customers love you. It's the little things that go a long way. Lots of specials and the pickup is certainly worthy of heaps of praise upon whoever designed such a practical service in a high traffic area.

If we reviewed Waldo Pizza as often as we choose to eat there, we would be writing reviews nonstop. We are already returning from our 2nd visit there within four days. I felt compelled to update my existing review for the specific reason of letting anyone who is on a gluten free diet know that not only do they continue to serve a great VARIETY of gluten-free (as well as vegan) options. But I seriously think the quality of the product keeps getting better with each visit. We were there Thursday April 28th (with a friend in town from Los Angeles), & then again today (Sunday May 1st). I kept commenting that my gluten-free pizza (as well as the creation of the actual pizzas themselves --- crust textures, cheese & sauce ratios & melting level, etc. -- were quite possibly THE BEST I had experienced at Waldo Pizza, & in general) since I had been instructed to cut wheat from my diet over a year & a half ago. Whoever was in the kitchen on these two days, I personally want to THANK for making me THE BEST two pizzas I have had the pleasure of consuming in recent history. And the thing is..... I was fine with the pizza I was getting prior (raved about it to everyone). But this just took it to the next level. My dining partners enjoyed both a traditional crust option, and a thin-crust. They were both more than thrilled with their selections, & as always -- our service was great, too. The first visit I got a gluten-free/vegan dessert (Be Free Bakers makes some amazing treats). And recently I have been inclined to indulge in the awesome vegan (& gluten-free) ice cream made by one of Waldo Pizza staff. I am thankful every day that Waldo Pizza exists. I hope they continue to wow me by not only meeting, but exceeding my expectations on a regular basis. Oh -- and for those gluten free folks who were disappointed when the chocolate mints arrived post meal -- they are now accompanied by a gluten-free mint option as well.

As vegetarians who care about preparation and cross contamination, it was with excitement that we ordered our first pizzeria pizzas in years for me and over a decade for my partner. I first called them to ask about preparation and was delighted to hear that they even have separate pans for their vegan and gluten-free menus. As it was Tuesday and they have a special of buy one get one half price, I ordered one of each of the two vegan specialty pizzas. Raced them home and man, they were sooooo yummy. The Daiya vegan cheese was awesome! We aren't strictly vegan, but we do enjoy a non-dairy cheese and the Daiya was great. They only downside is how far away they are as we live north of the river. However, it is work the trek and we will definitely become regulars!

Not only is this my favorite pizza joint, it really is the only one I'll eat at anymore. The gooey butter cake is worth the trip alone. That said I only get carry out. What was once an out of the way place to visit has been saturated with families with loud annoying kids. Used to have more of a bar feel, now feels like Dave and Busters. This is no fault of the owner or establishment, they are just popular now and I'm happy for them. I don't mind loud, I don't mind busy. I just don't want snot nosed kids crawling under my table and be expected to accept this as normal.

The food portion of this review is solely based on the St. Louis style thin crust pizza, which is amazing. The other crusts are dead to me, I don't even know their names. The thin crust pizza at Waldo Pizza is mighty enjoyable. The key is only having one or two toppings to not make the crust soggy. Every appetizer ever tried at Waldo has been mighty good too. If you are one that doesn't mind the public salad bar experience, then this one is one of the better ones out there. If you are one that is afraid of the bar of salads open to the public, give this one a look, they keep it clean and well stocked. The staff here is super friendly and skilled. It feels like you are at a locally owned business with hard working people because you are. The staff is super cute and often very stylish. I've always had top notch service from some highly skilled waitstaff here. On our last visit I watched a waitstaff pro calmly interpret, describe and explain the entire menu (including vegan items all the way to desserts) to a table of four sweet old ladies for over 10 minutes, all while the place was bustling. It wasn't her only timely visit at their table, yet every time she was kind and patient. Be warned, there will be a ton of kids and families at Waldo Pizza, no matter when you will go. Not my thing......at all, but respect the fact that they have a great place to go and create some great memories. It's like "damn", there are a butt load of kids and families here. Seriously, damn! It's busy every time we go. We try a Monday night, busy, we try Wednesday night, busy. They are always busy at Waldo Pizza which means they must be doing something right. Go check them out if you haven't already done so. Remember, get the thin crust pizza, the service is great, and there will be a ton of kids. Period!

Had a lunch meeting with a coworker at this Waldos pizza one day at 11:30... there was barely any pizza out on the buffet to choose from..and what was there was dry like cardboard and and not many toppings...we asked the waitress if there were going to be any fresh pizzas made but when there were some made..a group of 15 came in and there wasn't even enough pizza for them... needless to say...we didn't get much of anything but a salad and 1-2 small pieces that weren't edible or us... We have eaten at the one in Lee's Summit several times and it is soooooo much better and fresh! We will be going there from now on...

Let me preface this review by saying that I am from Chicago. It is very, very difficult to impress me when it comes to pizza. Whether it is deep dish or thin, I'm a little partial, and believe that it can't get much better. That being said, I did enjoy Waldo pizza. The pizza was good and our server was very nice, I would say they get about 3.5 stars, so I rounded up :) They have a fantastic beer selection and their St. Louis style thin crust is apparently the pizza to try. I tried a piece and can atest that it is indeed pretty good. What I really love about Waldo though are all of their gluten-free and vegan options. I tried their gluten-free pizza with a variety of veggies and vegan mozzarella cheese and it was great! My meat-loving fiancee tried a bite and even he admitted that he couldn't tell that the "cheese" wasn't really cheese. Although I didn't try them out, they do have vegan "meat" options as well. These alternative options to the standard pizza are what I really loved about Waldo and I wish more places in Chicago would follow suit.

What a great experience! The restaurant was packed (which is usually a good sign) but they gave us the option to get a beer at either bar and just have it transferred to our tab once we got seated. They were fair with there estimated time until got a booth. They have their typical menu which the food others got looked great and the people all seemed happy. We opted for the vegan menu which is extensive and appreciated. The cheesy bread was really good. It was taking forever for our pizza to come out and the apologetic waitress informed us they dropped it and had to start over!!! As an amazing compensation we were provided complimentary beers. Oh ya, about the beers..... they have a great selection at good prices! This is a spot that I will drive down to Waldo for again and gladly wait in the crowd.

Waldo Pizza is on my list of places I wish I went to more often. Why don't I? Well mostly because it's not exactly close to the River Market. The times I have been there though have been great. I like the atmosphere, kinda hopp'n but uber relaxed. What really sets Waldo Pizza apart though is, well of course, their pizza. The first time I went here was with my bf and one of his parental units who happens to have a gluten allergy (an actual one, not another one of these people who like to claim they do for some reason I have yet to figure out). So gluten free bread sticks and pizza for us! It was great to be able to go to a local establishment and get great food even though we had a pretty specific diet to work within. We didn't have to restrict one the members in our dining party to salads. That goes for vegetarians too; definitely earns Waldo Pizza some stars. The staff here is generally pretty cool. They know the menu and can usually recommend something unique if you are trying to get away from the boring nature of many major chain pizza places. It is a bit more expensive, know that going in, but well worth it. Another great tid-bit about WP, they have a pretty great beer list. All in all, I really do wish I found myself in Waldo a bit more often.

Gooey butter cake, I CAN'T QUIT YOU!!! Look, I am not a dessert person. I try to avoid sugar because I think it's evil. I'm usually too full from dinner to even think about indulging. But. This is a different kind of devil's food. Picture your favorite brownie and what do you think of? Crispy edges. Soft, chewy center. Intense flavor. Now think of a brownie without the chocolate and think of it tasting super buttery. Perhaps with the flavor of vanilla. Or pumpkin (if they have it). Or even chocolate. There you go. Gooey butter cake. It's like a brownie, only way better. A St. Louis specialty, Waldo Pizza makes their own on the premises and it's INSANE. Last night, I had some with a side of strawberry sauce and I can't stop thinking about it. I can't even finish this review without thinking about running into the kitchen and gobbling down my leftovers at 9 in the morning. Yep. It's that bad.

We visited Waldo Pizza with two other couples for dinner and some beers. The pizza was good but didn't blow me away. We ordered their veggie specialty pizza but substituted black olives and mushrooms for sundried tomatoes and spinach. My main problem with the pizza was that it was pepper-heavy and I didn't actually taste many of the ingredients I was most excited about (sundried tomatoes, spinach, artichokes). Solid pizza, but I am not sure I would make the trip from the Market when Minsky's is within walking distance without a good reason. I will say that I was very impressed with the vegan and gluten-free options. This makes Waldo Pizza a great place to visit when you have a mix of dietary needs. One thing that was 100% A++ about this place was the beer selection and the service we received. I was able to try a grapfruit beer that went down WAY too fast because it literally tasted like grapefruit juice (Steigl Grapfruit Radler). I have never seen this one on any other beer menu, so was happy to partake. Prices were very reasonable on beer and there were way more than enough options. Ther service was great. Our waiter was attentive to the right degree and truly made us feel relaxed and comfortable. He was always ready with suggestions (that were consistently spot on) and was, I have to say, the most enjoyable waiter I have had in....well, a long time. If I were rating this place solely on booze and service, it would be a 5 star. Would I go back? Sure, but I probably wouldn't make a trip down here just for the pizza.

I've had Waldo's pizzas at several catered events and was always pleased. One evening, I wandered into the restaurant a little bit before 5 pm. An elderly couple was leaving making room for a younger dinner crowd. I was met by a man I imagined was the owner. He maintained eye contact for a while until I figured out he was waiting for me to tell him the size of my party. Not exactly what I'd call a warm welcome. But I was seated immediately and a waitress quickly arrived with a smile. My first impression was that Waldo's was exactly the the kind of neighborhood place I'd hope it would be. One of my favorite Carole King songs was playing. As I poured through the list of ingredients, I winced at Carole's high notes. I was hoping to relax and have a quiet meal, but it was not to be. The music wasn't as loud as Chuck E. Cheese's but too loud for comfort. I left without ordering. I far prefer locally owned places over corporate chains, but I haven't found a pizza place in KC that provides a relaxing environment. Any pointers?

Honestly, I was expecting more... I have had my eye on Waldo Pizza since I moved to the area. I went with a work friend during the week and we both got the buffet. I was sorely disappointing at the selection... It was not what I had in mind when they used the word buffet. It was more like a salad car and a couple pizza sitting on the kitchen window. NONETHELESS... The food was good. I loved the pizza dough and cheese choice. And in all fairness I left with a full happy belly. Next time I will just order off the menu and skip the "buffet".

Waldo Pizza is absolutely my favorite pizza restaurant in KC. There are plenty of selections for everyone - from styles of crust, different sauces and cheeses, with good choices of meats and veggies too. We went outside our regular selection and ordered thin, spicy sauce, light on the cheese, cajun sausage with green peppers. It was, as usual, amazing. The sauce was perfectly spicy and the cajun sausage had a good heat. The crust was crispy but not burned. I also like the beer selection or Suds Du Jour. Their beer menu seems to update often. The prices are also amazing. I was pleasantly surprised to see Old Raspution on tap for under $4.00. A huge plus to my dinner. The salad bar has fresh items and one curious item - blueberries. I am not a fan of blueberries but gosh darn they do add a unique flavor to a salad! I appreciate that the area is kept clean and well-stocked. The service is really good too. We have had several different servers and I can't complain about any of them. Even at their busiest it seems everyone helps out other tables to keep things moving along. So, a huge thumbs up to Waldo Pizza!!

Next chapter in "Mom Comes to KC", after Beer Kitchen: Waldo Pizza! Dad, who didn't come, doesn't like pizza, so the ONE thing she wanted to do was, and I quote, "eat lots of pizza and drink some beer." Waldo is a good compromise between me in Northtown and baby brother in Lee's Summit, so I called on Thursday to make a Friday reservation. You laugh. Emily, the manager, bent over backward to get our party of 8 a reservation for 5:30. Big corner booth was ready and waiting for us. Score one for Waldo Pizza. We arrived separately-no problem, we didn't have to wait at the hostess station (I hate that!). Our waitress brought menus and got us started on beer. She was very helpful when it came to trying to decide how much pizza to order for 2 kids and 6 adults. She kept the Long Strange Trippel coming, and anything else we needed, without being overbearing. Score two. They have a VERY wide selection of pizza toppings, and 3 different crusts, so the possibilities are endless. I really like thick crust, but ended up being glad theirs is thinner, because I was able to try a piece of everything we ordered without being unable to get out of the booth when it was all over. All of it was well done. Score 3. Warm, comfortable decor, and the noise level on a Friday night was tolerable (I hope the folks around us would say the same thing!). Love the 50's-ish shades on the light fixtures! Want one, bad. Score 4. Oh, and I found out today: 2-for-1 pizza deal for KCUR members! Score 5-we'll be back!

B+ (for a pizza place) The lady friend and I, after a very fun and fuzzy night attending the Arcade Fire concert with friends, found ourselves famished and over-hung the following morning. After dragging ourselves out of bed into the bright, cruel morning light we decided on two things, 1) we needed nachos from Taco Via and 2) we need to follow those up with the buffet at Waldo Pizza. We were having a Faturday on a Thursday... Love this place, love their salad bar, like their pizza. Their salda bar is all one could ask for, all the toppings you'd need and to top it off, they have a fantastic garlic ranch dressing. The wonderful breadsticks, on this day, were no where to be seen. The pizza is good too, especially the bbq chicken. But it seems they like to put out cheese and hamburger pizza the most. The cheese has a little tangy taste to it but it's nothing to rave about. Good service, free refills, even when they are swamped. All in all, this place is a great little neighborhood pizzeria.

Mmmmm!!! Best pizza in Kansas City! I normally order carry out but when I occasionally dine in, it's always a great experience. Good beer and great pizza selection! If you plan on dining in, get there early because it fills up fast especially on the weekends.

Great gluten free pizza. Very busy so call ahead. Gluten free appetizers and dessert were great as well. really knew how to handle gluten free. My son and I are very sensitive and we had zero issues.

I've ordered from Waldo Pizza before, been there for the lunch buffet, but it was for a big family gathering that I most recently went and enjoyed this Kansas City establishment. Waldo Pizza has t-shirts you can buy that say "corporate pizza sucks." While this isn't actually true - Papa John's, Pizza Hut, and other pizza places make a pretty decent pizza (it's hard to mess pizza up) - you do get the sense of what Waldo Pizza is about - pizza done a little differently. We ordered two large pizzas on our visit - one of which I've never ordered anywhere in my life, the Waldo Tex Mex (choice of Taco Meat or Chorizo, Onion, Black Olives, Lettuce, Cheddar, Roma Tomatoes, Roasted Corn, and Taco Sauce). It's the experience of eating a basic soft taco, but in pizza form. Delicious. For the carnivores out there, there was the Waldo Choice Cut which is Bacon, Pepperoni, Scimeca's Italian Sausage, Hamburger, and Canadian Bacon. WP also has three types of crust - Waldo original hand-tossed, honey wheat, and St. Louis style. There's also Gooey butter cake and toasted ravioli on the menu, so I know there is a Saint Louis influence on the ownership. What I was most pleasantly surprised by was the huge selection of craft beers. I had the Orval - a Cistercian brew which my server swore was the best beer he'd ever had in his life. Now, being with 5 nieces and nephews under the age of 6, I wasn't actually in the right frame of mind to have that experience, but I will attest to it being a very tasty beer - not as heavy as a Chimay, but definitely belonging to that family. Cistercian monks, and Catholic monks in general, can make alcohol better than anyone else, probably because they've been doing it for oh, a thousand years. Great service, with a set-aside area for large groups with big booth seating and privacy.

Waldos Pizza is by far one of my top restaurants in the city. They have so many options on the menu that include anyone from vegans to the meat eaters! (Oh and the gluten free folk too!) I live in Kansas City and work in Lee's Summit so I frequent both locations and have ate in, carry out, and delivery (yes they deliver too!) Pros- Large menu with something to please everyone, great for big groups, excellent beer selection, they offer delivery, vegan desserts, and great service Cons- The vegan desserts I've had are often lacking. I wish they would up that a tad. It can also get quite loud in the evening. Overall Waldo's is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone. Tips-If you are going with a large group Restaurant.com typically has a cheap certificate. 25 dollar certificate. You have to have a bill of 50 bucks. Not too shabby. They also always have coupons you can print off from there website!

Their pizza is good, but I'm not crazy about it. I wish there were more specialty pizzas b/c by the time I "make" my own version it is more expensive than their specialty pizzas. What I am crazy about is... - Great beer list - Lots of options including honey wheat & gluten free crusts - Pizza buffet! (but sometimes the selection has been disappointing) - Support of community- they offer discounts for UMKC functions- I love local operations that help support the community. - Specialty pizzas- Veggie & Taco! Love taco pizza but it's hard to find at other places **For these reasons, I am happy to support them.

Had a very bad experience with Waldo Pizza this past Sunday (April 22). To make a long story short, the management assured us that they could accommodate a party of 30. People began arriving and the area that we were to be in was being used by 3 parties already and that it would be a minimum of 30 minutes to get the area cleared for us. I had called on Friday night to reserve space and and a manager was to call me back to confirm. They never did. I had to call back on Saturday and start over. They had no record of me calling the night before. I'm not sure how you can run a business like this. If you can't get us in then say so. I have spoken to people about this and a few had a similar experience with larger parties. Double or triple booking a space is not good. Is their expectation that since we are all there we will wait? In this case, we went to the Well which is down the way from Waldo Pizza. We had a great time and were very happy to see us and our money!! I'm not a fan of Waldo Pizza, but we thought it would be good for a large party. I will not be back in a large party or a party of 2.

Friend and I went here for a gluten-free pizza date since we'd heard they have some of the best around. Thankfully, we were not disappointed. We both got individual six inch gluten free crusts with toppings: mine had chorizo, pepperjack, pineapple, and sweet red peppers. Don't laugh at the combo, the sweet pineapple was awesome next to the salty chorizo. Perfect on pizza if you ask me! The server automatically asked us when we ordered if we'd had the six-inch GFs before and then proceeded to warn us that they're really small. We chose not to believe her, silly us, but she was really quite right. Small doesn't really cover it. I think I ate mine in twelve, maybe sixteen bites. In retrospect, and when we go back, we'll simply split a GF 12-inch instead. After pizza, we had deliberately saved room for dessert since we knew they had a specific GF menu for said sweets, which can be a rarity. My friend indulged in four cookies straight from the oven (which were the bomb diggity, no joke) and I had the maple bacon ice cream (which blew my mind, taste buds, everything...holy smokes). So in the end, it was a great time. One thing though, the service was a bit pokey...

This has officially became my fav pizza place. The toppings are almost endless, between all theT meat and cheese toppings you could go back a million times and always get a different combonation. They very good with the proportion of toppings they give you. Got just a plain pepperoni and almost the whole top was covered.!! The monday special is the way to go... If you haven't tried it please do so, and let me know what you think. (I had a friend tell me they got a spam covered pizza and it was good)

Waldo pizza has great week night specials- my boyfriend and I keep going on wednesdays for the $2.50 Boulevards and the Waldo Combo pizza - it has mushrooms, onions, sausage, hamburger, black olives and pepperoni I think. :) The Honey wheat crust is our favorite, but they are all good.

I love this place. It is our number one place for carry out. Get St Louis style crust. They have some great brews on tap. Definitely a completely unique selection of full flavored brews that I don't see at many bar/restaurants.

What I always get: If with my daughter . . . Xtra large St. Louis crust with pineapple and almonds. No leftovers. If with bf, xtra large St. Louis crust with kalamata olives, black olives, shrooms, and roma tomatoes. No leftovers. Both are divine. Literally. I mean, I am sure this pizza is from heaven. "And on the seventh day, instead of resting,God created pizza perfection and called it 'Waldo'." It has cracker-thin crust and provolone cheese. I now understand how my dog Scooby can eat himself close to death simply because the food is that good and it's there. If I had TWO xtra large of these, I do believe I would eat and eat until I exploded. This is hands-down my favorite pizza ever. No complaints or suggestions for improvement. I have had other Waldo pizza non-st. Louis, and it is typical pizza. Service is always outstanding. Staff is professional. The only thing I don't care for is the family atmosphere you get before 9 pm, but I know that is a bonus for many. I can always move to The Tap Room next door. Do not ever, ever go away Waldo Pizza!

Seriously delicious! We had dinner here late Friday night as a mix-up to our regular pizza joints we go to. The wait was about 20 minutes, but it was so nice outside we did not mind. The pizza did not disappoint. We got a small pizza - waldo traditional crust, regular sauce, with three toppings. My half - pepper jack cheese, sausage, and green peppers. The lady's - sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom. I loved all the choices for toppings, next time we will have to mix it up.The crust was a delicious crisp - cooked just right. Our waiter was friendly and nice, a little absent, but not enough to be upset over. The ice cream they had listed on the table for dessert sounded yummy - maybe next time we will try it! I think we will add this to one of our go to restaurants for pizza - the vibe was lively for a Friday night and the area would be great to bring friends when they come visit.

Best pizza in KC. During their busy lunch rush they still found time to add veggie pizza and a gluten free crust veggie as well. Great service and great pizza.

Quick review of ONE thing: GLUTEN FREE pizza (needed for those with Celiac Disease)! Although my son enjoys making his own pizza at home, it's special to get one from dining out. Many of the pizzas can be made 'gluten-free' (no wheat, rye, or barley). My son loves the meat-lovers type pizza himself. And I just checked...they have EXPANDED their gluten free menu!! YAAAAY!

Amid all of the 3 star reviews for Waldo Pizza, I am here to give a great review. Now, the only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of is because I am extremely biased, and feel that I, myself, make the best pizza in town. (I work at a take'n bake pizza place) I've probably been to Waldo Pizza a total of 4 or 5 times, and have not once had a bad experience. The hosts and waitstaff have always been welcoming, warm and eager to help us in any way they could. The food has always been top notch. The garlic cheese bread is to die for, and their pizza is top notch. Always piping hot and covered in melty cheese and the coolest toppings (I wish had shrimp and cream cheese at work!), it's never hard to order yourself a dynamite pizza. They have a huge selection of crusts, sauces and toppings as well as a menu of their own creations, so there is something for everyone - including gluten-free and vegan diners! Always a plus! They don't carry a liquor licence that allows them to serve cocktails, but they do carry wine and beer - and my mom tells me they have a pretty good selection (especially of Boulevard beer, including the smokestack series) to choose from. My mom and I been doing this thing with our family, about once a year, when my grandmother comes into town- We meet with her, my aunt and uncle, and my two cousins, and just chow down. Easy to do when you've got a huge table covered in 3 enormous pizzas and garlic cheese bread. These guys have always done an phenomenal job with helping us have the best experience. Even when they get really busy on those Friday or Saturday nights, we've had a wonderful experience with courteous hosts and waitstaff willing to bend over backwards for whatever our needs are, even a reservation for 8 people in a corner booth on a Friday evening! But, even after seeing some of the negative reviews about the management, hosts and waitstaff, I have to completely disagree that this place isn't worth trying. I would only assume that those instances are rare and only under certain circumstances, much like they are with almost any other food establishment. Seriously though, this place is worth the drive from the Northland, even for someone who makes pizza for a living! And that's saying something. (:

Going there for lunch? Save room on your plate for the ravioli at the end of the buffet because it is AMAZING! Not usually a fan of taco pizza, but my previous employer had it delivered all the time and I fell in love. Try it!

We are "pizza snobs" from Chicago here on a little getaway, and I will say as far as Kansas City pizza goes this place is the best!!!, and the staff was fun and very friendly and attentive.

Our favorite pizza in the KC Metro! You can get a sampling of their pies if you check out their lunch buffet. If we order a pizza, we always get a Canadian bacon + smoked gouda. They have a good salad bar and a variety of beers, draft or bottle. Even if there's only a couple of people in your party, it never hurts to call in a reservation. Sometimes it gets busy when you might not expect it to be.

I LOVE waldo pizza. I have been to the location in Lee's summit as well, and signed up to receive their specials, so every time they have specials i get a text letting me know! They offer Gluten-free as well as Vegan options which is fantastic! the Gluten free pizza did taste like the dough wasn't cooked quite long enough, but it was still awesome! I usually get the same thing every time i go, pizza with chicken and pepperocini's. we got their gluten-free cheesy breadsticks, and they were really good as well! And they have a great selection of beers to choose from, and fun cocktails.

If I could give NO stars I would. I made the same reservation TWICE and when people started showing up (30 of them) there was no room for us. And they then had no explanation. And THEN they told us it would be 1/2 wait. Unacceptable. This is how you DON'T run a restaurant. And ours is not the only example. I have spoken with a lot I my friends. Apparently this is a trend. We LEFT and went to The Well one block away and had a great time. Our people spent a LOT of money. We will NEVER GO BACK and will discourage every performer we work with from going as well. Again, I Have to say: Unacceptable and incredibly disappointing!

I went here for the first time when family came into town and I'm glad I brought them here. The food was great (which we figured it would be when the line to get in was out the door). We got the taco pizza which I would recommend. I hear they have a great lunch buffet, so that's the next thing I'm going to try. I would highly recommend this place to friends.

It's unpopular opinion time! I really don't think Waldo Pizza is all that amazing. I mean, it's good. And it's local. And I enjoy both of those things. It's better than Minsky's. It's not as good as D'Bronx. But it's in my neighborhood and it delivers and the topping choices are diverse and, I'm not going to lie, it's cured many a hangover. I've never actually dined in, but I'm intrigued by the beer selection possibilities and may have to give that a go next time. The thin crust surpasses traditional by a long shot. I am disgusted by the concept of "Provel" (sorry St. Louis) and ask for all mozzarella instead. We usually go for the Waldo Veggie and add roasted garlic. The flavors are really good and overall, it's good pizza. The consistency can sometimes be a bit... gooey? It's like it hasn't quite been cooked long enough, but the crust is well done and the insides are not. The breadsticks are pretty tasty if you like doughy garlicky things. But the cheese crusts, basically a small thin crust cheese pizza with garlic butter instead of sauce, are awesome. How could that possibly be bad? Bad for you, yes. But delicious. In the neighborhood, Waldo Pizza is the best. In all of Kansas City, it's not. But it has its merits and I will continue to order delivery when I'm a) hungry and the fridge is empty or b) hungover.

No complaints, ever! I've been enjoying the pizza & beer at this hopping spot for a few years now & must admit that it's all excellent! As a vegetarian I'm immensely satisfied with their ability to make any pizza meet my needs AND taste delicious! The beer selection is great, they offer an awesome gluten-free menu & the staff is refreshingly hip & accommodating. Eat here.

In my personal opinion: The best cheese pizza... I don't even like thin crust but I LOVE their thin crust!!! It is soo creamy and good. Their gooey cake is also amazing. It is just like the name says, gooey. I deduct one star because thought the food is wonderful, I do feel like they are overpriced. I ordered a salad that was $5 and change and it was basically some shredded lettuce. Otherwise, friendly staff and great food, chill laid back atmosphere!

So, I already knew that I loved Waldo Pizza but last night I fell in love a little more! We have vegan friends visiting from out of town and so we have been looking for places to eat that we can all enjoy a meal. My husband the carnivore and vegan friends. I did a google search for Waldo Pizza and vegan and was so excited to see the vegan menu come up. I knew that they had gluten free pizza crust, but hadn't realized what an extensive vegan menu they have. This was awesome. My son devoured the vegan cheese bread with the Daiya cheese, we had to order a second one! Bravo to our waitress who was SUPER knowledgeable about the vegan menu and super helpful, they even ended the meal with a vegan mint for our friends! We will for sure return whenever our friends visit!

This place is a little out of the way to get to if you live in the midtown area but it is well worth the trip. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant and the staff is always there when you need something or have questions. The pizza is well prepared and the ingredients used are higher quality than most would think for a place that doesn't really charge that much for what they are putting out. This place is high volume and high energy. The salad bar is a nice thought but this place could stick to pizza only and still be very successful. I love it either way.

Went to Waldo Pizza to try and pizza (of course). We went with the traditional hand-tossed dough and just plain cheese which is how I like to judge a pizza place. The crust and sauce were very good. I would have preferred a little less cheese but the cheese was good. For dessert we got the chocolate mousse cake which was really, really good.

The owner contacted me after reading my review and explained their coupon/discount policy saying basically they never offer those on the weekends when they are normally packed anyways. He went on to say though, that the host should have explained our situation to management and made an exception. One more reason Waldo Pizza is a really cool place to have a slice and beer.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
