Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I'm sitting here enjoying the afterglow. My partner and I came to KC for the weekend after a few days in STL. Did the BBQ thing at Jack Stack, which never disappoints, but we needed something different tonight, the last dinner before we head home to Minnesota. Yelped this place, and whoa. Not tiny but cozy. Got seated and wow... Chicken tortellini was amazing. My partner worked to save half for the possibility of it making the drive home. I had the Spiedini Di Pollo and it changed my life. Best Italian meal I've ever had, Italy included. Totally considering another trip here just for a dinner weekend. For real.

Saturday night, beautiful weather, LONG wait. Like an hour+ when we were told 30 minutes. ): oh well. The prosciutto pizza was so good: flavorful, reasonably priced. DH got the lasagna. He said he's had better at Zio's -ouch. The other people in our party got a wide variety and seemed pleased with their choices, but no one raved about their food. Overall, the intimate setting was fun, but not enough to bring me back. With so many places that serve great Italian in Kansas City, I'll visit one that takes reservations.

We were looking for an Italian place in the Plaza but didn't like the massive crowds and generic atmosphere. Ended up finding Osteria just a short two minute drive away. As soon as we walked in we knew this place would be great. Fantastic Italian smell, romantic atmosphere and friendly people. Food prices were very reasonable for fine Italian with a great wine list and fantastic mixed drinks from the bar.

The thing to remember is that Il Centro is always crowded on weekend nights and they don't take reservations. So be prepared for a wait. Typically there is a crowd of folks hanging around the bar waiting for tables which can be kind of fun. If you are not a 'people person,' it's best to go on a week night. The clientele can be kind of annoying (well-heeled Brooksiders), but this is a very good little Italian place. The prices are surprisingly reasonable and they have a cheap house wine by the bottle as well.
