We came here to eat for a conference. The restaurant itself is very nice, as you would expect from a place with the type of prices this place has. Overall the food was pretty good, although I've had better from places half the price as this place. A steak with a couple sides can set you back $70-90 easily here. Here is where this restaurant messed up. We had a table of about 10 of us. There were only 2 kids at our table. Our server brought over a tray of drinks and was holding it right over my head. There were 2 glasses of red wine on it. I was so nervous that this server was going to drop it on me. He didn't. What he did do was drop it on the only 2 kids at the table. Luckily the glass broke on the floor, not the kids' head. Red wine everywhere! On their clothes, in their hair, on their new headphones, on their electronics. I felt really bad for the kids. I honestly felt bad for the server because that has to be a servers worst nightmare. Although, I felt like he was very careless the way he was holding a tray of wine above patrons' heads. Mistakes do happen. I get it. The manager came over and apologized profusely. He didn't berate the server in front of us, which has happened to me before. That would have made the situation worse. What he did offer us was 2 free appetizers and offered to pay for dry cleaning for the clothes. Dry cleaning and 2 apps? Our table spent almost $1k eating here, and all the manager offered was a couple of apps and some dry cleaning after wine was spilled all over 2 kids at dinner. I didn't think that was well played by the restaurant. Everyone was very forgiving of the situation, but I would recommend the management do a better job of fixing the situation next time something like this happens again. We ate at Yard House for lunch and it took 90 minutes to get our food, so the management comped our whole table's meals to fix it. But we got 2 free appetizers at 801 Chophouse for spilling wine and causing the kids to have to leave dinner and go back to the hotel? Do better guys. You probably lost repeat customers, not because of the wine spill, but because of the way it was handled. If it was my restaurant I would have knocked off a percentage of the final bill to restore faith with the patrons.

Good wine. That's about it. Slow service. Mediocre food. Bristol is much a better spot with better service and food. Leawood location blows this one away.

Service is impeccable. The food is high quality and the cocktails are fresh and elegant. We put our food and drink order to the recommendation of the bartender and he did not disappoint. I will definitely be back.

My mother and I bought a groupon for this fabulous steakhouse and it was worth every single penny. First off we clarified with our waiter regarding the groupon and he was so polite and kind through our whole evening! Derrick gets 5 stars as well! As far as food goes we started out with the calamari and roasted bone marrow: calamari was delicious but I favorited the bone marrow more. It was just perfect, it scooped out so easy and it is by far the best marrow I have ever had! Next we ordered the beef medallions with lobster and as a side the lobster Mac and cheese. Okay okay yes I know lots of lobster but it tasted so fresh and yummy! The steak was melt in your mouth- cooked to perfection! We then decided to just go all out and get dessert and ordered the cheesecake. Oh my gosh. It was ginormous, and also fantastic! I want to touch on the customer service to finish up this review. Not only was our waiter attentive and kind the entire staff was also. We have 4 or 5 other staff members come to our table through our the evening and asked us how our food was and if we needed anything. You guys know how to treat a couple of out of town ladies!!

I would say this is probably the best steakhouse in KC. I've eaten at Herford house and Plaza III...very excellent quality of steak...side items are huge portions and not salty. The waiting staff is ultra professional and courteous. I had the fillet mingon cooked medium...it wasn't like I expected for medium...more like medium well...but it was still great...I'll go with medium rate next time. A+

We ate dinner after a show at the Kaufmann and really enjoyed the fixed menu they offer on Sunday nights. The food was very good, the service was very good and we were able to bring our own wine which was really nice. Justin did a great job taking care of us. Definitely worth a visit!

Excellent service - sat near the bar and my waitress (Keeva) was a dream. Responsive, extremely professional and polite, and steered me in the right direction. Ordered the lamb chops and asparagus. Delicious! Limoncello cake for dessert was worth it. And save room for the bread. It's outstanding. Great steak place.

We've been here a few times before (including with 2 Groupons). The service is great. Ambiance is fabulous. Location is accessible. Food is pretty good (it's not the absolute BEST steak I've ever had but it's by far not the worst). Prices are quite high. There is no way you can get out of here without spending at least $100 for two people.... if you do, you're a genie. I enjoy dinner every time we come here because they not only have good food but it's a dining experience. If you're looking to "tame it down", I would recommend eating at the bar. You can still get the same service but you don't need a reservation (it is recommended that you have one in normal seating). Just a tip: If you are unsure about the sides that you'd like to accompany your meal, go for ordering "1/4" of the normal. They can do it with most of the sides unless they have to be baked (ie: scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach). If you enjoy having your steak smothered in some sort of sauce, they have a delicious mushroom based cream sauce that goes great with a filet. Other than that, if you're questioning what to get, just ask. I've also had the lamp chops and they're quite hefty and delicious also. The lobster tails are fantastic as well. Just depends on your mood! :)

My wife and I went here this evening and had a wonderful experience. We try to have a nice dinner every few months and this was certainly one our best outings. Our waiter Kellee was awesome. He took his time with us and let us enjoy the evening while providing outstanding service and congenial conversation. He did such a good job that we made a point to let management know and to take his card so we could ask for him again. My wife got a filet mignon and I ordered a ribeye and both were cooked to order. We also ordered sides of macaroni and cheese and asparagus. The mac and cheese was delicious and by far the best I've had at a restaurant. The asparagus was great and plentiful (and large). I am used to ordering asparagus and getting a few small stalks but these were plump and flavorful and enough for us to share and bring some home. We finished the evening with the chocolate lava cake which was superb. Beyond the food and the service, the atmosphere and ambiance conveyed a classic and classy theme. It was a very comfortable restaurant that met all of our expectations. Like most steakhouses, it is pricey (the filet was about $45 and ribeye about $52) so this won't be a routine stop for us, but we will certainly return knowing it will be a good experience and a great meal.

Tasteful environment and great food. On the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion. You don't come to KC for the seafood but it looked fresh. The lamb chops with blue cheese were terrific.

Excellent steak house in downtown Kansas City. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend getting the 16oz bone-in filet mignon, gnocchi and brussel sprouts. Finish off the meal with their signature Grand Marnier souffle and you got yourself a gastronomically pleasing evening!

Very good food and excellent service! This was my first visit, and although it is expensive, I'll be back on special occasions. The mac and cheese is out of this world, as is all of the other food we had - steak, chicken, aparagus, garlic mashed potatoes...no complaints!

We had Adam for our waiter. Ask for him! He is very knowledgable and has been there from the beginning. Had an amazing dinner, I just wish I would have saved room for dessert! The ambiance was very romantic and upscale. After we went for drinks at bar Louie to top the night off. The location is great for you to walk around and enjoy the evening after. Try the prime rib and grilled asparagus. Don't forget to look up- the lighting fixtures are artfully decorative for a steakhouse- great way to keep it updated. And did I mention Adam?? Exceptional service!

First time there, and I guarantee I'll go back!! Amazing bone in filet, and to die for lamb chops... A 5 star is a rarity for me, but this place deserves it!! Expensive, more so than normal, but well worth it. You get what u pay for. Don't miss this place.

I left Kansas City about five years ago and the 801 Chophouse remains my favorite restaurant in the area. I was fortunate to travel back for business recently and it was the perfect opportunity to enjoy a meal. When I walked in and asked to be seated the Hostess immediately asked if I wanted to see a menu first which caught me off guard. To this day I am not sure why she would ask if I wanted to see a menu after I asked to be seated. Either she thought I couldn't afford it or it was because the restaurant was empty and they wanted to go home. The Power and Light District has been known for "less than favorable customer service" but this was my first such experience at 801 so I stayed. I ordered the Lamb chops which were amazing, the garlic mashed potatoes were flavorful and not overly garlic, and the baked cream spinach which is some of the best spinach I have ever had. 801 Chophouse continues to impress, make sure to arrive way before closing or wear a three piece suit so they know you can afford it, my slacks, dress shirt and ¾ length wool coat did not impress.

Amazing service, amazing food. My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate his birthday and we were flooded by the quality of food and wine as well as the service provided by Robert, our waiter. He even comped a dessert for us to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday even though we weren't planning on having dessert. The restaurant had a great overall feel and was quiet. I have no doubt in my mind that we will return time and time again.

So, I don't know what to do with this one. I have dined at the Des Moines location a number of times and it was 5 Star all the time. My strip was ordered medium, Pittsburgh. It came out uncooked. Literally, the inside was raw and cold!!! The second one came back rare so I only ate half. I also didn't care for their version of loaded backed potato. No clue what was going on in the kitchen as the place was empty - on a Thursday night. Odd. The service was excellent. My entire bill was comped including my martini and I didn't even ask for the reduction. I assume it was an OFF night.

Not a bad steakhouse but I still prefer Capitol Grille. A little too loud for my taste for an intimate dinner however, it was nice for a big party or for business people. The price was equivalent that of a 5 star steakhouse and the service was good. My filet mignon was a little dry but other people in my party had the Prime Rib which they say we're remarkable and the best they've had. It looked about 22-24oz. The sides are a la carte which were good enough for 4 people to share with enough for seconds. I recommend trying the grilled asparagus and scallop potatoes. We will most likely return at a later date. Not bad overall.

My wife and I went to 801 Chophouse for the first time tonight to celebrate my birthday. If I'm being completely honest, the only reason we were able to go was because we had a $100 Groupon to use, so why not use it on my birthday, right? Anyway, we'd been wanting to eat here for quite some time because our friends swear that they serve some of the best steaks anywhere. But truthfully, it didn't really live up to my expectations. While the filet mignon, side dishes (Boursin mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese), cheesecake, and service were all outstanding, the atmosphere of the place just didn't do it for me. It felt very country club-ish - not really my vibe. I also don't feel that the food and drinks are worth the exorbitant price that 801 Chophouse wants to charge. Yes, it's top quality meat and the portions of the sides are huge, but seriously we can't get out of there under $200 for two people? I guess I just feel like there are other steakhouses here in Kansas City that are equally as good, much more affordable, and have a better atmosphere than 801 Chophouse.

Took a party of 11 colleagues for dinner, everything was excellent! We shared and tried several sides and all were good, however the asparagus was terrific! The cheesecake was light and delicious.
We travel a lot and are always taking clients out for steak dinners. This place was excellent. The meat is definitely a cut above. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience is comfortable elegance. We all agreed this was one of the best steakhouse experiences we've ever had. Will return upon our next visit to this great city!

Debated on dining at 801 Chophouse or Capitol Grille. Decided on 801 Chophouse and glad we did. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious! Wonderful salad, perfectly cooked steak and fabulous dessert! Also the atmosphere is much better at this restaurant then the other one. This place is my new favorite!!!

Prime rib was the best I've eaten;" smooth as butter". 16oz is the small size and it is large. Vegetables are fresh and family style. Delicious "el donte", crisp.
Love the 801 chain of restaurants. I've been to the Omaha, st.louis(clayton), and now kc location. I have to say all visits were above amazing. I had a filet cooked rare plus with bone marrow butter. It was cooked to perfection and that butter was so yummy. I also had a side of mushrooms that was great too. For dessert I had the creme brulee... I I can't believe this place only get 3 stars in kc.. don't miss out on this place because someone else claims it isnt a with it. You would be doing yourself a disservice not to give it a chance.

I REALLY want to like this place but after 2 visits in the last month I just don't. Our first visit was not that great and I emailed management simply to inform then of how the visit went. The service was great but the food wasn't. Trent emailed me back and offered me some gift cards which was a very nice gesture. We returned 2 weeks later with $165 credit in tow between the gift cards and a Groupon. Our again, Robert (our waiter) was excellent. The steaks were cooked properly this time but the scalloped potatoes were so salty that I couldn't eat them. My major complaint here really is how expensive things are for the quality of the food. Even with $165 in hand we still spent $120 of our own money. I unfortunately can just think of other steakhouses in town that I would rather spend my money at. If you choose to come here ask for Robert... he really is great!

I rarely find it worth paying lots of money for a steak, especially when I'm handy with the Weber and has access to premium cuts from the local butcher. This place is an exception, my friends. I traveled to many cities, trying steak houses here and there, but this makes the top of my list. The key of enjoying a good steak at a place like this, is to have your meat cook one step colder than you would normally do. The magic is, they use high quality meat so you can enjoy more flavor of a steak when eating it medium-rare or rare. The grill masters season, sear, and cook the meat just right the first time. The wait staff is very knowledgeable, and the wine list is long. If you're in KC for the first time, or taking that special someone out to somewhere nice for stay-cation dinner, don't pass this place up.
This is your basic steak house. Similar to all other high end steak restaurants.

We went here for our anniversary and the service and execution was impeccable. The appetizers were very good. We had the Crab Cake, which was very light and crispy. Not a lot of heavy bread or chunks or various vegetables, which I hate in a crab cake. The Lobster Corn Chowder was awesome! I cannot identify what it had in it that gave it such a different taste than your average chowder, but very tasty! My wife had the Shellfish Pan Roast for her main course. Scallops, tiny half of a lobster tail, shrimp, and half of a King Crag leg in a tasty wine sauce. My only complaint would have been the portion sizes but she left 2 shrimp so it was good for her. I chose the Delmonico, which is nothing more than a Cowboy (bone-in) Ribeye. It was cooked perfectly. As to the taste...for half of the price I can get a better one at Longhorn. (Hahaha...I just read someone else's review where the waiter said you have to request flavor on your steak! I wish I had read that before I went!) I wanted their off-menu bone-in NY Strip but I just could not make myself spend $65.00 on a steak. In hindsight, it might have been more memorable than the Delmonico. As for the sides...I'm glad the waiter warned us about the size of them. They are quite large and are meant to be shared. The Lobster Mashed Potatoes sound really good, but they are not. The lobster gets lost in the taste of the mashed potatoes and the sweet spice (nutmeg?) they put in them. Kinda gross after a few bites. The Mushroom Pan Roast was delectable! The Boursin cheese on the wild mushrooms is a taste I will try to duplicate in my own kitchen. Overall a good experience. For the money I would stick with the appetizers and the seafood at this place. Cheaper places achieve the same results with the beef.

All I can say is WOW! The decor, the service and the food was top notch. We shared the wedge salad, mussels, medallions and boursin mashed potatoes. We were delighted with each bite. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and go back again.

Filet Medallions: tender, flavorful, delicious meat, this was my entree there recently and it was worth every penny! A meat-lovers dream. Our party of 4 was seated in about 30 minutes on a recent Saturday night without a reservation. The hostess took our cell phone and called us when the table was ready. The server asked if we were going to the show at the Sprint center that night to be aware of any time limitations. This was great service! Of course this is easily one of the most expensive restaurants in the Power and Light district. The less expensive restaurant across the street had a wait of 1:45 for a table. Maybe that was why our wait wasn't as long... The sides are huge and meant to be served family style. We got hashbrowns and green beans, each one big enough for 4 people. I was very full but had to eat every single bite of those luscious filet medallions, we had no leftovers! I compare this to the Capitol Grille. The ambience isn't quite as luxe, the service wasn't nearly as attentive, but the steaks were definitely as good. I recommend this place for a special meal, especially if you are making an evening of it in the Power and Light district.

801 Chophouse Down in the Power and Light lies the 801 Chophouse. It may not seem like much seeing the building, but this restaurant is unsurpassed. The inside was extraordinary, and the room feels open. I could talk for hours about 801 Chophouse, but I don't have hours. When we got there our waiter quickly brought out some cuts of meats that were on the menu, to help us find the meat we most wanted, and dang did he know what he was doing! There were lean and marbled meats. My dad and I decided to get filet Mignon with Bearnaise (a sauce) which is made with eggs (for people allergic to eggs), and the sauce goes well with the meat. One thing to keep in mind the sides are big, so my dad and I picked each a side to share We picked Roasted Brussels Sprouts with toasted walnuts, garlic, orange zest and parsley. The other side was Scalloped Potatoes with truffle cream, Gruyere and Parmesan. The filet Mignon with the Bearnaise was luscious and spiced well. The meat itself was exquisite, nothing need to be added to the sauce. I would go there again and I hope you go there too, because I think you will enjoy it.

A very nice place - great service, good food. We had the filet and the Tuscan ribeye. Both were well prepared and nicely served. Salads were good. The potatoes and gnocchi and the brussel sprouts were delicious. We had sorbet and key lime pie for dessert. Drinks were nicely done. Even though the atmosphere, service and price were 5 star, the food wasn't any better than I've had a lesser places so I can only give 4 stars. You expect to pay for a nice meal like this - $100 per person so be ready.

I had a tremendous experience at 801. I live in Oregon but work in Nebraska. I have been saving my calories for a Midwest steak for months and this was the place. Sat at the bar, had a cocktail, the single cut of prime rib with blue cheese, hash browns and brussel sprouts. The bartender recommended an excellent wine and I finished with a very solid port. The prime rib was excellent, precisely prepared to order. The sides were voluminous but tasty. The staff was extraordinarily knowledgeable and helpful. Above all else, the atmosphere was perfectly suited for my Midwest steak experience. The downside? 35 minute wait for a seat at the bar and I dropped $150 for one person

Food was AMAZING! Lots of tables separated by walls and curtains that would make this place an excellent choice for a private party. We had the oyster sampler which was excellent, but the server was unable to identify which oysters were which. We each had an excellent steak meal and the broccoli and potato side were very tasty and satisfying. The server was trying really hard, but was not able to answer many of the questions we had (which oyster was which, the difference in the cuts of meats, etc.). Although I appreciate his efforts, at this price level and quality of food for a steakhouse, I'd expect my server to be at the same level as what he was serving.

Went here the other night for a great birthday dinner. They had special little touches like confetti on the table and menus printed with "Happy Birthday" across the top. We started with a couple of great cocktails. I particularly enjoyed my 801 Special!. We shared an appetizer of bone marrow, which was creamy beefy deliciousness. Hubby had corn and lobster chowder, while my aunt and I shared a classic wedge salad. A great bottle of cabernet, prime rib, filet mignon, scalloped potatoes and green beans later we were three full happy campers with a shopping bag full of delicious leftovers. Meat couldn't have been more tender or expertly prepared. The service was fantastic. While at $400 for three people this isn't by any means a weekly indulgence, for a special dinner with special people and the food to go with it, it was worth it. If the price scares you off, keep in mind we spent $125 on wine and probably $40 on cocktails. We also just wanted to taste different things and could have gotten out the door for much less had we been so inclined.

I went to 801 for a work event so we had a limited menu to choose from. I started with the Lobster Corn Chowder which was really yummy, and I'm not a seafood lover. Next I had the filet and we had au gratin potatoes and green beans. The steak was perfectly cooked and so tender you could really cut it with a fork. The potatoes were just so - so, really not that great, as a matter of fact they were a little under-done. The green beans were delicious! Dessert was a chocolate cake which I wasn't a huge fan of. I would have given it four stars for the quality of meat but I looked at the menu and for that is really just an outrageous amount of money for a steak. J. Alexander's is just as good with better potatoes and much less expensive.

I think this is more 4 $'s. Knowledgeable wait staff. High service level. Explained the menu very well, including samples of the various cuts and how their selection was superior. Good ambiance. And decent spacing on the tables. Busy, but at my table of 5, we were able to carry on a good conversation. Food was very good. Steak cooked perfectly. Good flavor, but also not over the top. Enough marbeling for flavor, but no gristle. Was a bit pricey. Steaks were $40+. Not outrageous for a good steak place, but it's not inexpensive.

First time here and food was very good. I had the jumbo scallops and steamed asparagus. Both cooked perfectly. The best was dessert with the banana cream pie - YUM!

Went here a year ago for a holiday work party. I got the Kansas City strip and just felt that it was a little on the tough side and lacked some seasoning. My husband felt the same way about his steak. I have to say I was disappointed. I liked the wine list here and thought the dessert was good. I just feel that for the money there are better steak houses in the area.
(2)

This steak house serves up some good steaks and has some great service to go with it. It has a classy atmosphere and a large wine list. The steaks were a bit on the pricey side, but other than that, the place was worth the visit. It seems like your regular run of the mill nice steakhouse, which is why I gave it 3 stars. Consistent service, but nothing to knock your socks off.

Downtown in the power and light district. Very nice location, very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I ate here with my family, a party of 12 and ate in a private dining room which was an excellent experience. It's an attractive restaurant. The food. I had the large KC Strip, seared Sesame Tuna appetizer, and fried zuchinni. I also sampled every side on the menu, the lobster corn dogs, and the chop house salad. The chop house salad was a small and uninteresting medley of diced vegetables on a plate with little dressing. The seared tuna was good, but I got 4 slices. The steak was fair to good. Tender but not real flavorful. For these prices it should be distinct like a fingerprint. It is not on par with Plaza III or the Chop House in Chicago(unaffiliated with this one). Service was average. We had to remind him of several things like bread with our appetizers. If you are a steak restaurant, it all comes down to the steak. This one was average. I had a great time with my family, but not a unique steak experience.

Everything was just sub par. I ordered the Delmonico, medium. It looked to be cooked perfectly but it was like they drained all the juices from and around the steak. If you looked, there wasn't one drop of juices running around on the plate. The plate was white as could be with a piece of meat on it. I don't think they follow the 90 second rule. The Steak seemed like it had been off the grill and under a lamp for a while. For sides we ordered potatoes au gratin, green beans and grilled asparagus. Ever high-end steakhouse I go to I order the same cut of meat and at least potatoes au gratin to gauge which place I'll like better. The potatoes au gratin were over cooked and some what bland. It had a very basic flavor. Something you find at Golden Corral. Over all I would say that I would have walked away some what satisfied had the price been 50% lower. If you're looking for a nice meal at a high price you are better off finding a Flemings Steakhouse, Ruth's Chris or some non chain place.

Let me preface this by saying I am not reviewing the food or the service, just the space. I was here for the massive Pinnacle Imports wine tasting on 4/11. They took over the entire restaurant, 40 tables with around 400 different wines. I'm only reviewing the decor. This seemed more like an event space than a restaurant. Big open rooms, lots of light, brightly lit with little ambience. I was walking around here wondering how people would eat dinner here and not feel like they were at a wedding reception. There are several rooms on the main floor and then another space upstairs which I assume would be for private events. I'll have to get back and review the food and possibly the atmosphere again. My first impressions were that they had a very cool bar, but not much else stood out besides how massive this place is.

I HATE TO SAY IT. I hate to admit that I went to a non-local, non-KC steakhouse and had the BEST STEAK I HAVE HAD, EVER. I guess, it's almost OK since this chain is from Des Moines, a Midwestern city, and neighbor. I'm feel bad for you Jennifer, too bad your dinner wasn't better...maybe it was just a result of the restaurant's growing pains? I came on Sunday night...you should too. They have a prix-fixe menu where you can get a salad, a filet (6 or 8 oz...I forgot which), potatoes, asparagus, and a desert all for $30. NOW THAT IS A DEAL!! On a regular night, you would just get the steak and nothing else for about $32. Anyway, the steak cut like butter, and tasted like heaven. I donno how they do it, but they make the best steaks I have ever had. Don't miss the Sunday dunner deal!! Oh and the decor was pretty nice, but they could have served me this steak on the ground of the old surface parking lot that used to be there and I would still have given the place 5 stars!

We have been to 801 twice now and really love the quality of the food. We had a bone in ribeye, mushrooms with Boursin and red potatoes with gorgonzola cheese. Everything was so good. The steak was one of the best I've had in KC, but of course you just can't beat a Prime grade of steak! Would totally recommend 801 Chophouse, but don't forget your dollars as it will take quite a few of them since it is a la carte!

You know what I want when I'm traveling for work? Vegetables. And no I'm not joking. I get so sick of all the rich, heavy, calorie laden food. But this place - let me order a giant plate of broccoli. It was heaven.

The best part of my dinner was the Boursin Mashed Potatoes. THIS IS A MUST SIDE for anyone going here! Everything else was average. The menu could have been waaayyyyy more creative. Lobster corn dogs? Really? I had creamed corn (ok, tasted frozen), cocktail shrimp (just like Costco) and fried zucchini (tastes better at a dive bar). The filet was excellent - cooked to perfection. Plus the boursin mashed was outragously delicious. The service was SSSLLLLLOOOOWWWWW!!! Never in my life have I ever had a 3 HOUR DINNER! Yup! We were not in a hurry, but it was painful to sit for so long.

Just got back from a business dinner here and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Hands down the best food I've had since being here in KC. Holy hell, I want to go back so bad and it's 3:30am....is that bad?!?!? Great service, decent drinks, AMAZING staff. Go here, go here, go here...YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN!

My wife and I just got back from an enjoyable night that started with dinner at 801 Chop House. I wasn't sure that the experience was going to be great since a Groupon offer was just out there this last week. The place was completely full at 7pm, but our service was pretty good. Our waiter was a tad bit full of himself, but the service was still good. I say this b/c when we ordered a glass of wine rather than a bottle, he seemed to make a judgment on us. We started dinner with a wedge salad and a caesar salad, then my wife had the filet medallions and I had the veal chop. We split the lobster mashed potatoes and then capped off dinner with the souffle. Everything was fantastic; however, the filet medallions are overwhelmed with a very strong steak sauce. If you want to enjoy the taste of the meat by itself, stay away from this dish. Overall, we would most closely compare this dining experience to that we have had at Plaza III. I would have a difficult time choosing between the two honestly.

This restaurant in P&L is a great place to have a large group gather for a meal or drinks... but one will likely spend at least $50/person (based on the lowest ticket at our table) esp. if liquor is involved with the meal. A number of people in our group including me and my husband stuck to the appetizers and salads as the mains were a bit too pricey for us. If you like grapefruit, you must try the Troon Martini = grapefruit juice and Ruby Red Absolut. We split the Caesar salad to start- yummy, but I want to see more anchovies on the salad if I return. My husband loved the bone marrow appetizer - he wants me to try and make some at home... and I would not mind having it again as it was delicious (three couples at our table ordered this app). I selected the Ahi Tuna Appetizer... nothing too special... just a slightly seared raw tuna with a sesame crust, but enough to have as a main. Oh, we also sampled some of our friends' scallops (done perfectly) with grilled artichoke, Calamari (substantial portion with good sauce), and chocolate cake (very chocolately)... all seemed to be good options. We finished with the Grand Marnier Souffle. Be warned, you may want to order this when you receive your main unless you plan to chill for a while after you main as this take about 35 minutes for them to make. I recommend the raspberry compote with the souffle (served also with chocolate sauce and vanilla bean sauce) out of the three provided sauces as it highlights the tartness of the orange in the Grand Marnier. Will we return - maybe if another group event occurs there or a craving hits for the bone marrow... maybe if they have a good prix fixe option/deal one day (Sundays?) when we happen to go, we will actually try their mains... I do think my sister and her husband would really enjoy it though and may recommend it to them next time their in town.

I went to 801 the other night for a business dinner. The positives: Beautiful decor, very friendly service. The a-ok: my filet was slightly overdone (the waiter did ask if it was cooked properly and I declined to return) but was a delicious steak. The less than positives: the uninspired salads and side dishes. The garbage salad was ok and the sides (hash browns, creamed corn and spinach) was just ok also. The negative: the PRICES! I didn't expect to see NYC prices in Kansas City. Bottom line, if you have a business dinner, great place to go.

We visit Kansas City of a bi-weekly to monthly basis. My friends and business associates pick a different nice steakhouse to visit on a regular basis. My trip on Saturday just makes me incredibly sad from start to finish. We were seated right at our reservation time and proceeded to wait 5 minutes just to get water and drink orders. After a very long explanation on their menu (which wasn't that tough) we were then given 15 minutes to just make our order. I ordered the 12oz Kansas City Strip my wife ordered the 8oz filet. My associate ordered the same 8oz and his wife ordered the pork chops. A good hour and 15 minutes later our food was delivered. To start the presentation was pretty sad. My wife's steak was just dead dry like it was sitting for a while. It looked opposite of my associates steak which was the same cut and same temp. It was easy to tell what happened when you touched it and it was stone cold. I don't mean "not hot" I mean sitting 15 minutes under a lamp pathetic cold. My friends was cooked better but for a $40 filet it was thin and just unappealing. We notified the waitress who offered to "warm" it up. Meanwhile I looked at my steak which was medium and not medium rare. Well parts were medium and other parts were medium well as it was such a bad and uneven cut of meat it couldn't be cooked properly. Again a $40 steak was not even an inch thick. Basically a $5.99 per pound special at any discount grocery store cut. It was seasoned lightly which would have worked if it was a cut worth the money. The pork chops were impressive looking, a very large cut on the bone but was more medium rare then my steak. The only positive of the night was the mac and cheese and mash potatoes which were much better than the steaks yet were still dry. The entire meal just seemed like everything got cooked at different times and put under a lamp to die in the window. Then my favorite part was the manager wheels out the warmed up steak for my wife and just sits it on the table and leaves. No, I'm so sorry will you please cut into it and see if it's ok. No can we do anything for you, just a good eat and get out. $200+ later we walked out the door just laughing at the mess. It was just sad, after hearing a 5 minute speech from the waitress how they only select the top 2% of the meat in the country I'm really worried about the other 98%. McCormick and Schmicks, P3, Capital Grill, Ruth Chris, or Hereford House are all MUCH MUCH better and well worth the money. Not to mention many of them are cheaper in price.

I was at 801 Chop House about a month ago and my wife and I had a great meal. My strip steak was great, as good as any I have had in town. Went again last night and was very disappointed. I had the strip again and it was tough with an off flavor. Another person at the table had one and it looked the same as mine. Tough and smaller than the advertised 16 ounces. Desserts were pretty good but for the money charged a top end steakhouse can't afford a bad night. Won't be back, there are too many other places to go.
This place is fancy and pricey so I took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu twice. Everything was cooked perfectly both times-steak, asparagus, potatoes, and probably one of the most delicious caesar salads I have ever tasted. The waiter also talked me into getting a root beer float for dessert- it was soo good I ate every bit of it including the cookies and chocolates on there for garnishes (is that rude? oh well...). There were some small issues with the service both times- the first time one of the waiters was pushing the service cart full of steak dinners over to a table, and he couldn't get passed two chairs. Luckily, the service cart doubles as a ram rod- he just kept ramming into the chairs until he made it through. He didn't lose any steaks in the process, and it was more funny than anything else but I guess I expect more from such a fancy place. The next time I went my dinner guest ordered a salad and it went something like this: Guest: Can I get the salad with no ancho- Waiter: THEY ARE JUST ON TOP ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO JUST.....ok....no anchovies. Guest: umm... Anyway, relatively small issues, everything was timely and delicious, I definitely recommend it.

This place is great. There is great food, good variety, great service, and right on the Power and Light district and the Sprint Center. We have gone a number of times and have not ever been disappointed.

Man I keep seeking out good beef in KC but I just keep coming up short. part of the reason for the rating is that upon seating us, we waited at least 35 minutes before a waiter even bothered to come over and take our drink order. of course he said it was because no one told us we were seated. this was a biz dinner, EARLY, at 5:00. we were the only ones there, literally. Still waited that long for water, and real drinks. but onto the main topic of discussion which is the beef. got the cajun ribeye, 16oz i believe. not a fan. let me just say when I grill a steak at home it's always cajun style with my seasoning. it's my favorite. this steak was so full of grizzle (fo shizzle) that I couldnt' tell what the good pieces were vs. the bad. I mean, I've eaten my weight in ribeyes and usually I don't have to concentrate that much but this cut was terrible. for prime it was sub par. temperature, sure was fine. but the quality of the meat was subpar. crab cake was OK. had better. had worse. the calamari? SKIP IT unless you like the "steak" portion of the calamari. personally i'm a fan of the traditional rings and tentaciles. I can't even spell that right at the present moment. this presentation was calamari sliced lengthwise, and thick, and fried. not my cup of tea. in the grand scheme of things I'd definitely skip this place. next stop, hereford (again with the spelling?) house. hopefully greener pastures there.

What a great place. Our server was excellent, and the prime rib was one of the best I have ever eaten. Also the Creme Brulee was one of the better I have eaten in a restaurant in some time. So, if you are in the Kansas City area (Power & Light district) stop by for an awesome steak, great ambience, and a nice dessert.

What a fantastic place! We went for a celebratory dinner and will go again as many times as we can. Our server, Lou, was expert, friendly and professional. The food was exquisite. The Porterhouse rendered me speechless - no small feat. I ordered the lobster but after tasting my husband's steak, I was disappointed. Not because the lobster was anything but perfect, but the steak was fantastic. It was melt in your mouth, make your eyes roll back in your head good. Yeah, do this one....

Just A-OK. I expected more from this place, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a steak of course, medium rare and it was overcooked. The baked potato wasn't cooked enough. Ugh! The service was ok as well, our server was a bit annoying though.

Very expensive and not superior to the other primary steak houses, such as Ruth's Chris or Paul Flemming. Couldn't believe prices on wine - 3x retail. The Lobster Mac&Cheese highly rated, not worth the hype. Wouldn't visit again. Was hoping for a KC "local" experience. Nah!

I'm out of town, wandered the streets downtown. I was looking for a good K.C. barbecue place within walking distance, but no luck. So I was in the mood for meat, and the place was totally uncrowded on a Thursday evening at 8:30 PM. Yes, the prices are high, but similar to a Ruth Chris' or other "chop" houses. Ordered a "Kansas City" strip, similar to a New York strip, creamed spinach *au gratin" and onion rings (half order). Things started off really well with your typical steak house bread. Humongous 2 half loaves. Warm and healthy amount of sourdough quality. Simply perfect. After a bit of wait, it all showed up. The steak was good, well marbled, but not the most tender I've had. After a while, I had wish there was some steak sauce, which is a slight indictment against the steak, but it was still OK... but at $34, I wish it was more spectacular. The spinach, though nicely dresssed with a healthy crust of cheese (something similar to gruyere), was not an overly generous amount for the $7 or so price. Onion rings were very plentiful, even as a half order. So all in all, if you're craving a rather formal and stylish traditional experience this is a good place. Not quite a truly revelatory meat experience, but decent.

The food gets 5 Stars, but unfortunately our waiter brings the overall score down. My wife had the prefixed meal described by Sean O. below. A filet, potatoes, asparagus, Salad, and a desert. Her steak was AMAZING along with everything else that she had. I had the 14oz Tuscan Ribeye and it was Fantastic. We had Oyster Rockefeller as our appetizer and it took about 40 minutes to get out to the table but tasted fantastic. Our waiter latter told us that the first batch got burnt and the chef would not let them leave the kitchen so at least there is some Quality Control here. Our waiter was nice and knowledgeable, but was just SLOW!!! We would wait at least 30 minutes between courses and about 15 to pay... It just took way to long..... THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC

Really over-priced for the experience! Mediocre food. The ribeye I had was grisly. The italian sauce was so over-powering with vinegar, I couldn't taste any steak only vinegar. My wife's salmon was done perfectly! What's up with that go to a restaurant called the steak and chop house and get good salmon, and lousy steak? My wife's wedge salad with Maytag blue cheese was good but at $6.95 was again way over-priced. My Cesar salad was only average. Service was below average. Our waiter was very concerned with the two 4-tops and the 6 that he was waiting on. Our deuce wasn't on his radar screen at all. We'll try it again, but there are so many other GREAT steak houses in Kansas City, that why would we waste money on just mediocre. They said it was going to be a "celebration" restaurant when 801 first opened. Celebrate somewhere else I guess.

When it comes to steak in KC, you're better off at a litany of other choices - 801 wouldn't be in my top 20. We had a last minute reservation, and from the second we walked in, we were treated as second class citizens. The hostess was friendly, but it stopped there. Our waiter didn't say one word to us beyond what was necessary to take our orders, and in fact, when we told him we didn't want any alcohol, he smirked and left before we could even order iced tea. We were never shown/told of any specials or specialties, never offered dessert, and never had anyone check on the status of our meal, which was subpar. The steaks were overly seasoned and overly cooked (we both ordered medium rare and got medium well), but by the time we got them i didnt want to spend any more time in that place. The decor is cool, and the place has potential, but I will not be returning, which is a shame since i live only a few blocks away. Next time I want steak, its Plaza III or Capital Grille.

I purchased a $100 Groupon for $60, knowing full well that we would spend much more than that. We went on the Friday night of July 4th weekend, and it wasn't busy AT ALL. I was kinda shocked to see a restaurant in P&L wasn't busy on the weekend, but I'm assuming the prices might keep people away. This is a restaurant that would probably do better on the Plaza, and I'm assuming they sell Groupons for their P&L location in an attempt to improve business. All of our food was excellent: sauteed jumbo shrimp, filet mignon, salmon, fresh asparagus, macaroni & cheese, and garlic mashed potatoes. The bone marrow butter was AMAZING, as was the key lime pie for dessert. The service was excellent, and almost too attentive since they weren't busy at the time we were there. I wanted to give them five stars, but they were out of a few of the specialty cocktails on their menu. The waitress came back twice to tell us that they couldn't make the drinks we had ordered. She was kind enough to recommend different drinks, but I would expect a restaurant of that caliber to have the ingredients necessary to make their marquee cocktails, or a bartender who knows how to make adequate substitutions. Other than that, it was an excellent dining experience. Our tab was more than $200, but that seems pretty average for two people at a high-end restaurant after drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

I have been several times and it was on point every time. The Sunday pre-fix menu is a great bargain!! We have gone for special occasions, pre-fix dinner and just split a steak and a side up at the bar. We have been treated wonderfully no matter the size of our group or the price of our tab. I have in fact emailed and requested the same server before and my request was accommodated. I have brought my own bottle of wine and had it treated with respect and care and I have been served outstanding cocktails and wine by the glass on my visits. I have used coupons/birthday discounts without feeling embarrassed or silly, so in general the staff and management are above par! The food is why we keep coming back. I would put 801 up over Hereford House, Ruth Chris or any other steak house in the area. I come from a family of beef farmers so I consider myself a beef snob. I have had the best steak of my life in this place. I have nibbled at everyone else steaks and never been disappointed. The sides are amazing I can not pick a favorite, I just can not. I have ventured off the steak menu and ordered the seafood pan roast and it was spectacular!!!! The atmosphere is exceptional the bar is Amazing!!! I can not say enough good things about this place. I wish I could go more often!!!

Made a quick trip into KC and picked the Chop House from the good ratings. Have been to the one in Des Moines and really liked it. Started out with the Lobster Corn Chowder soup. Rich but very tasty. Chop House salad was well above average and like the little touches like the poached egg. The crab cake appetizer was the only subpar part of the meal. WAY too much filling and WAY to little crab. Main course was the filet with a side of asparagus. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. We would have come back again in spite of the crab cake, but we just mentioned it to our waiter Kelly and he insisted on taking it off the bill. Great service and very professional. Will come again.

When is great service and good food not enough? I want to love this place. Our server is top notch every time we are here. Food is really good but not great. I mean really good so where is the problem? The drink service and pricing. My wife and I drink scotch so we don't need a fancy bartender to create a fun mixed drink. We need a good pour at a reasonable price. The scotch glasses are smaller then many of our favorite restaurants and the pricing for the same scotch choice is high. Here is the killer! We drink our scotch on the rocks and they charge (yes they charge) for ice. Two dollars per glass of scotch! We were shocked! Now some where on the menu it might say "in our small drink glasses which we charge a lot to start with, well we also charge for ice", however I never saw it and we were never told about it. 801 Chop House you have to be kidding me! No more personal business and no more corporate business from us. I think this is just crazy!

over priced for quality delivered combined with poor service. steak delivered to table that was room temp so the food must have been sitting some place before brought to table. wait staff changed during the 2 hrs of dinner and the exchange of conversation between them was without respect to each other. lots of opportunity for this place to improve when charging NYC/LA prices.

More like a 4 1/2. Came for drinks one night and dinner/drinks the next night with a big group. The bartenders were great and turned us on to some great bourbons and ryes that we hadn't heard of. We ordered oysters, lobster corn dogs, KC strip, asparagus, mac n'cheese, scallops, a filet, and the salmon. Everything was seasoned well, cooked nicely, and served hot. Really enjoyed this place. We just asked them to make a big table in the bar and they did. Nice ambiance, classy, clean, and a solid menu. Will go back.

Located in a nice, vibrant part of KC, 801 is one of my favorite steakhouses. However after dressing up nicely for dinner I realized it is not as fancy of a location as the STL one. Excellent service! Wasn't a big fan of the fried calamari...it was cut into big, thick chunks. Loved the filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, and the corn.
(4)
Larry D.
Great time for Dinner. Lobster corndogs are the best, don't miss them. Calamari is best I ever had. Ribeye was little bit under cooked asked for med rare but still very good. Waitress was short and sweet but fiesty with the 4 men at the table. We loved the banter back and forth. A couple behind us got engaged behind it was crazy.

Very tasty. Nothing too unique, it's a typical upscale steak house. Great service, very good food. Check it out.

Way over priced. The steak was OK which is bad to say about a steak house. The toppings for the steak (I had black truffle butter and my wife had bleu cheese) were overpowering. My wife's KC Strip ($80) was actually tough. My $90 steak was good from what I could tell through the topping. Boursin mashed potatoes were great, but not good enough to justify a $325 bill for two people. KC has great steak houses for half the price. I'd say go to two of them instead of going once to Chop House.

(5)Ced L.
(5)Kathy M.
We ate dinner after a show at the Kaufmann and really enjoyed the fixed menu they offer on Sunday nights. The food was very good, the service was very good and we were able to bring our own wine which was really nice. Justin did a great job taking care of us. Definitely worth a visit!
(5)Marian S.
(5)Cindy R.

First class service and food. Outstanding way to end the week. Great service from Trey! You can't go wrong here.

(4)Sheila C.
Very good food and excellent service! This was my first visit, and although it is expensive, I'll be back on special occasions. The mac and cheese is out of this world, as is all of the other food we had - steak, chicken, aparagus, garlic mashed potatoes...no complaints!
(5)Liz M.
(5)Tom T.

Everytime any meal.!You can't go wrong! I make it so I do have leftovers to take home.

The food was outstanding and the service was as well. It is definitely a place that I would go back to enjoy a meal.

Tremendous food with even better service!!! Very classy atmosphere. Great place for a special occasion with loved ones! Filet Medallions were perfectly tender and very flavorful! Will be back soon
(5)Suzanne S.
Took a party of 11 colleagues for dinner, everything was excellent! We shared and tried several sides and all were good, however the asparagus was terrific! The cheesecake was light and delicious.

We've eaten at Chophouse numerous times and each time we would give it 5 stars. The shrimp cocktail, pancetta wrapped scallops, crab cakes and carpaccio have all been delish on our various visits. Love the Chophouse salad (minus the egg). It is enough to share and and not be too full when the entrée comes. Because the filet is always mouthwatering that is what I always have. The cognac/mushroom sauce is delicious. My husband has had various beef selections, as well as seafood. We've had more than half of their sides and they are all yummy. I can only comment on one dessert which we didn't order but were given (to go) because we were full after celebrating our anniversary -- it was awesome. They have a nice wine service and we've had excellent service each time. It has become our new favorite steakhouse.
(5)JimMelbelle S.
(5)Lisa S.
(5)Louisa S.
Prime rib was the best I've eaten;" smooth as butter". 16oz is the small size and it is large. Vegetables are fresh and family style. Delicious "el donte", crisp.

A group of us went here during Restaurant Week and was blown away by the food. Of course though, if it weren't for restaurant week, you'd also be blown away by the cost. We had a very nice server Camille whose personality and smile just made our night; making us feel very welcome. Off the Restaurant Week menu they got the Filet Mignon and Crème Brulee. The filet was so tender and was seasoned perfect. Crème Brulee was also amazing. I ended up going off the regular menu and ordered an 801 Wedge salad, Filet Medallions, and a chocolate lava cake. 801 wedge salad was very good and crisp with just the right amount of dressing unlike most places that drench it. The Fillet Medallions were outstanding...so tender and was complemented perfectly with the lobster, mushrooms, and madeira-veal sauce. Lastly the lava cake was a fairly typically lava cake that wasn't too rich and the cake part being fresh, as if it just came out the oven. I only wish I got the soufflé for dessert. Remember though that the soufflé will take some time (about 20 min) to prepare so try to plan in advance and let the server know when you're ordering that you'd like a soufflé for dessert. Ambience was terrific as you'd expect from the most prestigious steakhouses, but just slightly more relaxed. The only downside...the cost. My meal alone was $66 without gratuity, but even living on a tight budget as a college student, I'll make sure I save up to have the pleasure to dine here again.

Decided to try out the chophouse when my girlfriend and I were in KC last weekend. I was hungry for steak and figured I couldn't go wrong with a joint that serves prime steaks. Let me preface this by saying I have been in the restaurant business for the last ten years, six cooking and four as a bartender and server. Anyways, I felt compelled to review this place after how terrible our experience was. We sit at the bar and a pretty brunette bartender probably in her late twenties greets us. Unfortunately she was extremely cold, to the point where at certain moments it became extremely awkward. We had a few drinks, they were ok. I'm really forgiving of servers as I know the territory but this girl was either really burnt out or just a total snag. Anyways for the food I ordered the ribeye medium rare, girlfriend got a scallop and cous cous special. My steak wasn't even Rare, way undercooked. It still had decent flavor. Scallops were great, asparagus and the sauce were good but the cous cous was complete soggy mush. We got a wild mushroom with boursin cheese side. Flavor of the mushrooms was pretty good as boursin cheese is good on almost anything. But the mushrooms weren't very moist and were clearly cooked in advance and reheated or kept in a warmer which is just plain lazy. Mushrooms take seconds to sauté. Overall it was very disappointing due to the sub par service and less than impressive food. I was hoping that this place would be much better than it was since they also have a location in Omaha.
(2)T D.
Best food ever....in my life, including NYC. Amazing service. My daughter and I shared a pre-concert meal: KC strip (morel butter), green beans, asparagus, baked potato, lobster tail, Chop House iceberg wedge, key lime pie, creme brûlée, and doble espresso. You can't do better. I can't wait to go back with the whole family. Tip: portions are huge. You can easily share sides among 3 to 4 guests.
(5)Kymberlie V.
(4)Laurie B.
(2)Jimmy N.
(5)Tim W.
Came in on a Sunday and took advantage of their Prixe Fixe for $33. A salad, entree and dessert. Started with a Calimari appetizer. Very good large strips of Calimari accompanied by shoe string zucchini fries. We got here early so we were waited on quickly and professionally. The Caesar salads were good, bread good. We both had a 6oz fillet accompanied by mashed potatoes and asparagus. Very delicious and tender. Ended with a creme brûlée. Atmosphere very nice and comfortable. The portion was just right. Left happy and not miserable.
(4)Aman S.
This is your basic steak house. Similar to all other high end steak restaurants.
(3)Shawn B.
(4)Susie M.
All I can say is WOW! The decor, the service and the food was top notch. We shared the wedge salad, mussels, medallions and boursin mashed potatoes. We were delighted with each bite. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and go back again.
(5)Yvette C.

(5)Garen M.
(4)Ben R.
(4)Lauren V.

(5)Laurel S.
(3)Bryan M.
(5)Brenda D.
First time here and food was very good. I had the jumbo scallops and steamed asparagus. Both cooked perfectly. The best was dessert with the banana cream pie - YUM!
(4)Jennifer C.
(2)Ryan C.
(3)Shawn H.
(3)Tony S.
(2)Dev V.
(3)Brigid M.
Nice restaurant near Power & Light. Friendly and attentive staff always makes me feel welcome. The calamari was incredible and unique. Great specials on Sundays.
(4)Robert B.
Food, service - good, not great! For the price, you can do much better.
(2)Sean O.
(5)Melinda H.
(5)Dennis N.
The food is good. Location is great. The service is OK. The lobster mashed potatoes is recommended. I felt I had better with the amount of $$$ I spent.
(3)richard s.
great place.. had private room and server was awesome.. very good at knowing the menu and how things are prepared.
(4)Sarah L.
You know what I want when I'm traveling for work? Vegetables. And no I'm not joking. I get so sick of all the rich, heavy, calorie laden food. But this place - let me order a giant plate of broccoli. It was heaven.
(5)Jasmine T.
(3)Josh A.
(5)Sphengali G.
Can't go wrong! Great food! Crab cake and peppercorn was to die for!!

You walk in the door and you are confronted with a glass wall made up entirely of wine bottles. Go to the right and you are in a large bar area which also features curtained off private booths. Go to the left and you wind around to the dining room. Go even further back and you will hit the large private dining room and restroom area. The decor is typical "steak house," except it feels a little more polished because it is new. The extra tall open ceilings give the rooms a fresh feel. We went on a Saturday night. Even though we had a reservation, we seemed to have flustered the two hostesses who ran back and fourth, whispered for 5 minutes and seated a party of 8 who came in after me. We were finally seated, but not in any of the empty booths, at a table by a drafty window. So much for a reservation. Our server was great, you could tell that he had a lot of previous experience. We started with the tuna tartar, which was pretty good, possibly a little heavy on the avocado. It came with some sort of candied sesame cracker, which was inedible. We split a caesar, which had great flavor. We both got the filet and split a side of green beans. The green beans sautéed with onions and bacon. They were perfectly cooked and flavored. Unfortunately, not as good news on the steak. I definitely could tell the quality of the steak was amazing. The problem was it was completely unseasoned. Salt and pepper is culinary 101, so I was a little mystified. I am used to quality steak restaurants searing the steak with sea salt and pepper, sometimes topping it with butter. When I mentioned the lack seasoning, the waiter actually said it was because they wanted the flavor of the steak to come through. He said next time ask for extra flavor. First of all, you have to request flavor? Second, I don't want "extra" flavor, just flavor. My dining companion was even more disappointed with his steak and attempted to salvage it with the salt shaker. I would rather drop $150 at Capital Grill and at least feel satisfied. (I wore Michael Kors boots)

Great food!!!! I've been to great restaurants and if you like filet, this place delivers. Great service although it was very quiet when I went. First time in KC.

Service is phenomenal, food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed, clean and comfortable. Pricey but, definitely worth every penny.

The best upscale steakhouse in Kansas City!
(5)Joe D.

(4)Larry D.
(5)Mark L.
Very tasty. Nothing too unique, it's a typical upscale steak house. Great service, very good food. Check it out.
(4)Curtis C.
