Seated quickly. Chips were hot, good salsa. Good blend of heat and flavor. Margaritas good and inexpensive. Food took about 30 minutes to come out, but came out hot. I had the shrimp chimichanga and my wife had a chulapa, chile relano (sp?) and a tamale. Good size portions, good food. Not a bad price. Would recommend.

I met my partner and his mother here for lunch. They like the food here. The server was prompt and polite. The food came out nice and hot and promptly. After that, it was mediocre. I had a tamal and a chile relleno with beans and rice. Meh...average. The chile relleno was a bit tough. Did someone skin the poblano? It seemed like part of it was tender and skinned and part of it was not. There were parts I had to "saw" through. The flavor was good. I ended up giving the tamal to my mother-in-law. I'm not going to say the food was bad because it was not. But, it was nothing to write home about either. My other two companions seem to like the food a lot.

Gosh this place is gross. The service is terrible and hardly any of the servers can speak English clearly. We had to ask for a child seat and when we did we got a huff and puff attitude from our server not to mention the fact that everyone else on the staff is rude as well. the ice tea every time we went tasted like dirty water or stale water . The dishes come out hot but the food is not that great. Its standard Tex Mex with runny beans. I ordered an enchilada and they use red sauce and the red sauce taste like ragu. I've had banquet enchiladas from the frozen section they taste better than these. In fact I'm wondering if this place doesn't use stouffers.

I can only review the independence mo location I ordered carry out well not great I ordered enchiladas with guacamole they enchiladas were small and tasted like I could have bought them in the freezer section of a supermarket and they tried to charge 2.99 for the guacamole they should really tell someone that I figured at the most a dollar for a small side

There are two Los Compas??? This was really good, and comparable to my reviews of the one in Raytown. So, check those out. I'm so used to the staff in Raytown, that I really cannot give an unbiased review for this one. It was good, the chile relleno had bite. Life is good! Only difference, no Margarita Monday!!! What? Food: Super Service: Cannot give honest assessment at this time Would I go back: If I'm nearer to that one when I'm having a Mexican attack!

Los Compas is my go-to Mexican joint. Monday through Thursday they have delightful $5.49 lunch specials. You get to choose from about 15 entrees including burritos, chimichangas, and fajitas; plus you get soda or tea. The chips and salsa are delicious. The salsa is flavorful and not too spicy, and the chips are consistently fresh. The food is great and I've never had a complaint. I love the chimichanga (you can get it with grilled steak for an upcharge and it's SO worth it), fajitas, nachos, and burritos. The food is pretty standard but it's properly made and consistently good. The servers are very friendly and prompt. For Mexican in Independence, I think Los Compas is your best bet.

This place is fairly typical for your local mexican restaurant. Food is fast and hot. No complaints on service, after going a few times they began to recognize me.

I love Los Compas! Delicious food all around. I especially love their queso dip. The wait staff is always friendly and the service is great. When my sister is in town this is the first place we go. I guess the best thing I can say is that I've been here dozens of times with all sorts of family and friends, and we all love the food.

This is a pretty good Mexican place. I would say it rates average across the board as far as food and service. I have tried many things on the menu and haven't found any I didn't like. I would recommend the Burrito Gringo or Shrimp Chimichanga. The drinks aren't bad but I have had better. Definitely try the cheese chip.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
