The place was pretty busy on a Saturday night, but my girlfriend and I were seated fairly quickly. We both had the prime rib special. It was properly cooked and tasted great. I can't ask for much more. The prices were reasonable and the staff friendly. The restaurant is pretty dark inside and fairly outdated. It is a small town restaurant, so as long as you keep your expectations in line with that, then you won't be disappointed.

The shrimp here is incredible. Cooked and seasoned just right. Worth a drive. Just an average bar/rest but great food.

Simone's on the waterfront. Oh Simone, how you've let me down. I normally enjoy little dated restaurants in small towns but man was this disappointing. We really didn't aim to eat here. Apparently Herman is not the place to be on the Fourth of July weekend as everything closed early. So whilst strolling down the water front we saw this & unfortunately for us, let our bellies do the thinking. Let's get this over with as painless as possible. You charged me how much for SEVEN fries? Not acceptable by any means EVER. Out of everything we ordered I only recall eating shrimp & a mediocre salad. Overal the food is subpar. The only positive thing I can say about Simone's is that the staff was friendly & trying. Only positive

I try not to judge a restaurant solely on whether they offer real butter or not so my husband and I went ahead and gave this place a try. I should have stuck with my original inclination. We ordered the prime rib (MedRare) & the crispy catfish. The prime rib came out MedWell, at best, and had an odd flavor. I doubt this was made fresh today. The catfish had a distinct 'frozen' flavor and was slimy and mushy. It left a film in my mouth that would not go away for a while. The waitress clearly didn't get it as she kept offering to have them cook the fish a little longer. Not a pleasant experience.

When I read "waterfront" I thought we would be looking at water. It reminded me of one of those places on TV where someone comes in and redoes the place. The burger was good, the wine selection was subpar for Hermann, but there staff was friendly!

Of course they don't have the restaurant door open, you have to go through the bar entrance so your first experience is a horrid smoke smell. The service was poor, and be ready to have another choice for dinner if not two as they will be out of at least one thing you thought you might be getting. The place is not quite on the waterfront either, you drive by it on your way to this place. Be sure not to dress up too much, we went casual and were the best dressed in there.

I've been to enough small Missouri town down home eatin' places to recognize this place off the bat. There was an odd mix of ship wheels and posters of flowers on the wall to confuse anyone wondering what kind of food they should expect from this place. My bf and I both got the catfish and it was quite good. The prices seemed very good as well. His was $12 and mine was $10 and they both came with a potato and a salad. We tried a glass of wine each and it was decent for only $3.50 a glass. Being from KC, we're used to much higher prices. The place was packed, though, and there appeared to be only two servers on the floor. At one time a woman who appeared to be a manager came onto the floor and tried to help run food and buss tables. You could tell they were overwhelmed, though. For example, the table beside us asked the manager lady for ketchup. She said she'd be right back. She made another round of the dinning room, asked us (my bf and I) if we needed anything else and that our server would be by to check on us. I realized she had not brought the table next to us their ketchup. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I knew instinctively that they had been forgotten. After a few minutes, my bf handed them our ketchup bottle and they thanked him profusely. They had been waiting for 10 minutes to eat their fries...

Love the food here. It's one of our family's favorites. It isn't fancy but I you won't be disappointed.

The server was friendly but that is the only positive thing I can say about the place. I'm willing to look past the horribly dated decor but I do expect better food for the money. I had shrimp and my wife had the chicken. The meal was served with a salad drenched in dressing and a roll. One reviewer wrote that the shrimp were incredible. That was not my experience. The shrimp were clearly the precooked type from the grocery store and overdone to the point of being rubbery. I could have overlooked that if the sauce that they were served with didn't seem like it came from a jar. My wife had similar comments about the chicken. We both agreed after the dinner that we would have been better off going to Subway.

Food was not worth the price and the service was terrible. When I asked the waitress for her recommendations she told me to just get what I wanted.

My wife and I stopped in on a Sunday evening when the first snow hit. It was quiet in the bar but Simon and Nate treated us like royalty and stayed open longer than they probably wanted to to keep us having a good time with great conversation. Simon knows his music, too; musicians stop by because Simon is the genuine article and has played with the greats. Thanks guys for a great evening!

While visiting Hermann we stopped in Simon's for dinner. The food was very good. One of our group got the Crab Legs. The service size was huge and good tasting. In all, the food and service was very good.

My family and I had lunch here after spending the day in Hermann. It's not a a large area so I am not sure how it handles a crowd during the busy season. There were 3 or 4 other tables of families while we were there. The service was incredibly friendly and quick. The hamburgers are probably one of the BEST I have had. We will defiantly be back to try some of their other items. I was a little disappointed that they did not have a website to check out the menu ahead of time.

Real dive bar. We only hung out in the bar side. They had cheap beer and just a few food selections. Empty at 5:00-6:00 on a Friday night (in Feb).

We had a group of nine stop in last Saturday evening after a day of enjoying the area. They didn't act like they wanted to seat us. There were four people working the front, and none of them seemed very energetic. The customers seemed to be a problem for them. However, we had heard it was a good place so we waited to be seated. It then took a while for our order to be taken. While we were waiting on our food, a couple who came in right behind us, but were still waiting on their order to be taken, got up and left. About ten minutes later, a table of four who were also waiting for their order to be taken got up and left. When our food came, two of us at one table ordered baked potatoes and one at the other table. They were all three cold. We sent ours back and asked for "hot" baked potatoes. The rest of the food was alright. We just could not get over such poor service and bad attitudes toward everyone.

Had a group of 15-16 walk in with no reservation and we were seated immediately in a little room off the main dining area. Our server was very friendly and kept a smile on her face the whole time even after learning we all wanted separate checks. Not a whole lot on the menu for a veg but I really wouldn't expect there to be. The service was exceptional, though.

My bf and I went here on this past Saturday evening for dinner. We had a very similar experience as AG. We were standing by the To Be Seated sign for a good 15 minutes -- the cashier/manager didnt even acknowledge our existence. My bf eventually went to one of the waitresses and told her we needed a table and she told him she would take care of us in a sec. The sec turned into another 10 minutes or so and there were another group of 4 behind us and they went to seat themselves and we followed. The restaurant was not even packed or anything -- tons of empty tables. Finally, the cashier/manager came to us and asked if we seated ourselves and we said we did and he brought us 2 menus. He did apologize for the wait but didnt do anything for it though. You would think he would comp us for a drink or an appetizer. Very poor management skill. The food was decent -- in taste and money-wise. I had the prime rib (medium) and it came with 2 sides -- salad and baked potato. My bf ordered the trout and it was okay for my taste -- I think it was a bit too fishy and they didnt give him any lemon. They can definitely update some of the decors and hardware. The plastic flowers in a vase on the table was dirty and old and the plastic table cloth was sticky which definitely added a sour note to the dining experience. Service -- 1 star Food -- 3 stars

My group of 8 really wanted to eat here. We came in a little later than dinner time - they weren't extremely busy. We stood by the "server will seat you" sign for at least 15 minutes. One person came by and acknowledged us - said she'd seat us soon. We waited 5 more minutes before leaving and eating somewhere else. Lost out on our business due to poor service.

I stopped by here for a late mid afternoon lunch, so my experience there was not typical of the way most people eat there. There was a very small group of people inside and even then, it seemed to take way too long to have the server greet us and take our order. Not being sure what to order, I had a steak burger, thinking the burger is the foundation for any road house/bar food experience. It was not very good, way too overcooked and not particularly tasty. My lunch companions ordered a more health salad choice and they were not impressed with their salads either. Not a terrible place, but I think there are better choices in Herman.

People watching at its finest here. Can't comment on the food; we went on a Saturday night for a bachelorette party. Simon's turns into a smoky (I thought this was illegal in restaurants) rock bar after dinner. Doormen were charging a $3 cover charge, but when we started to leave and walk across the street, they let our party enter for free. The band was kind of ridiculous. Scary shirtless Megadeth wannabe drummer looked like he was living his dream. Music was so loud you couldn't talk. Might have been okay if it was good. Ordered a Bud Select in a bottle because I was worried ordering anything in a glass would not be clean. This place had the widest variety of people in one bar I've ever seen. Locals, drunk college boys, older women wearing way too little clothing, men in suits, rockers covered in tattoos, bachelorette parties and everything in between. We left and went to the Barrel Bar on the corner-it had a jukebox, tables, friendly bartender. Ahh-much better!

We were looking for a place close to the center of town that had a fun atmosphere and decent food. We took a chance on Simon's, and were very disappointed. First of all, the dining room was dirty- the floors, the tables, the condiments. We were tired and hungry, though, so we persevered despite this. But the food pretty much matched the interior. The fish sandwich was undercooked and should have been sent back. The green beans were covered with an off-tasting grease. On the positive side, the pork tenderloin sandwich was good. The final insult was the mediocre food was overpriced. I doubt if we will go here again.

I was disappointed the way everyone talked about this place I thought it would be great... But it wasn't anything special they have a limited menu and the food is just ok...
