Deavers used to be my old stomping ground when I worked up in the area so I was eager for my husband to try it when we were up in the area recently. We were seated immediately and in front of the tv showcasing hockey games. Our drink orders were immediately taken and we quickly ordered our food. Chicken sandwich with waffle fries for me; burger with waffle fries for my husband. Both were delicious, the fries were very crispy and hot. Both meals were devoured. If we're ever in the area again, be certain I will trek back here!

The Reuben sandwich was very delicious, nice and sweet. The sauerkraut was nice, it did not overpower the meat. The onion rings are very sweet and delicious, not to overcooked, tender. I love the steak fries, not to firm and they are not overcooked. The chef here enjoys making the food dishes. On top of the good eats' the service was excellent.

It seems like some changes have been made recently that have made me feel much better about coming to Deaver's. First of all there are more energetic and busy looking servers on duty than I've ever seen before. (I should say that I've only been here for weekday lunches - when the bartender usually handled most tables.) Sitting in the bar area, I could easily hear how they are communicating with the bartender (new) and that's got to help! The bartender took care of me exactly as he should have - I never felt like I was waiting for a chance to grab his attention. When he was busy once (there was a Cards game on, after all), a server noticed my beverage was low and asked if I'd like another. Well, of course I did, and she let him know about 8 seconds later. Nice! I like their burgers pretty well. I actually prefer them cooked medium, but everywhere I go they (beef in general) seem undercooked these days so I frequently order med well. The one I got this time was well done (which should have, and did have, some juiciness-like quality.) I forgive them since the bacon was perfectly cooked, the cheddar was melted, and the "garden" was really fresh. What tasty fries they have! They start with a huge potato and slice it in half-to-whole inch wide strips and must fry them hot because each one comes out perfect: crispy on the outside and pillowy-soft inside. The draft beer used to be kind of warm and I haven't tried it in several visits (maybe next time) but the bottled varieties seem colder than on previous visits. Also there were no obviously over-served patrons at the bar, which makes me much more comfortable bringing my wife back!

They have the best burgers in town! I've been patronizing Deaver's for several years now and I have never had poor service there. The staff is amazing. The other food items are pretty good and they have decent appetizers and plate lunch specials. The beer selection offers some variety, and they have my husband's favorite Urban Chestnut IPA. We love this neighborhood gem.

If you're in the mood for a rude waitress and fish as hard as a baseball, be sure to go here and order the fish tacos. The stale waffle fries were just a bonus.

Delicious burgers & pizza! I went here twice for a meeting and both times we had great service and delicious food! I ordered the personal pizza the first time and it was very good. The second time I went I ordered a delicious mushroom swiss burger. Nice wait staff and nice restaurant! I can't wait to go again.

Deavers does have pretty good food, I like their chicken wings and my sister says their burgers are good, but I've been there a few times now and the service has been bad. We either get a waitress who whizzes by to throw our food down and barely acknowledge us or we get seated and wait for twenty minutes and nobody comes at all...and they were not even busy. I can get wings like their's at several places so I won't bother going there anymore, it's just not worth it.

Waiter was inattentive. Service was extremely slow. We received our order incorrect. Everyone at the table agreed the food was bland. Won't return.

My wife and I have been here a couple dozen times or more over the years. Good sports bar, really decent bar food. Beer is always cold. Good place to hang out and watch the game. They do have an outside patio and the parking is ample. I've had burgers, pizzas, quesadillas, mini tacos and a number of other items and have never had any issues. Service is good and the wait staff is always friendly. I do like they are recycle conscience and use local produce in their dishes when available. They were also Voted Best Neighborhood Bar in North County by the River Front Times and "#1 Bar & Grill in North County"

Best hamburger in town - they will actually cook it the way you want! Chef turns out good side of fresh vegetables (not overcooked) so you are not stuck with fries. I am very partial to the salmon BLT. I guess that is why I want to skip the fries. New Edison bulbs in the booths are awful. We finally unscrewed ours so we could look across the table without being blinded.

I used to work for a company close by that Deaver's catered to and have been hooked now for 9 years! The chicken wings and mini tacos are great choices for appetizers and you can't go wrong with the cod for a main course. Also the staff is very friendly and the environment is great for kids.

Really friendly place. We got great service in the secluded courtyard. Try the yummy Pork Shank or the Reuben our server recommended. In town for just one night from Chicago, we wanted to dine outdoors. Found Deaver's on Yelp by searching "alfresco." House wine $4. And our Cubbies beat the Cards!

I usually take pictures of my food; however, I was entirely too hungry! I ordered my "Stan-The-Man" sandwich with waffle fries for carry-out. The sports bar thing is really not my thing; nevertheless, the environment was cool. It looked clean and the staff was nice. The sandwich was awesome and so were the fries. I'd give'em a 3.5 because the fries were under room temperature. I don't know if I'm asking for too much, but it would be nice to get a call saying, "Hey, your food's done!" I've never had that before so this may be wishful thinking. Anyway, I've lived in this area for a year and a half and just now discovered this spot--don't make that mistake. Try it!

Was at Deaver's yesterday for my 10 year olds softball party in which we were all VERY kind to your staff even though everything took quite awhile with one server and 50+ people eating. Apparently your manager didn't like "our kind" at your establishment. I can promise you that I will never step foot in your establishment again and I will be sure to tell everyone in my network how hateful and ignorant your staff is. Get a CLUE! It's 2014! If your employees are homophobic I suggest tossing THEM out because ignorance is not seen as a good business practice! P.S. I am straight as an arrow. But will fight for equal rights any chance I get.

I went to this restaurant expecting big things. I love burgers and the reviews on them are very good. I left extremely disappointed. First of all, the service was extremely lacking. We had been seated for 15 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order. It was over 45 minutes later when we finally saw our food. Drink refills were almost non-existent. When the food finally came out, things did not improve. The server who brought our food to us, one of multiple servers we saw, put our plates down and then took off like a bat out of hell. We sat there for a few minutes hoping to flag down someone who could bring us a bottle of ketchup for our fries. My wife ended up going up to the bar and grabbing one herself. I ordered my burger medium-well. It was burnt and very dry. My plate had no lettuce, onions or pickles on it, even though I had requested them. My wife's plate did (she had also requested them), so that was odd. Overall, I was quite unhappy with this place. We will not be back. I can get a better burger, cheaper and with better service, at Hardee's.

We have overlooked Deaver's for such a long time, it makes me a little sad. Recently, a co-worker suggested Deaver's for a work lunch and we got to sample a little of everything on the menu. It made me excited to try the restaurant. We were very pleased with our dinners, and I can't wait for a Cards game to come back. I imagine with all of the tv's going it would be an excellent place for that.

Burger was cooked exactly medium as I requested. Was served with onion, tomato, lettuce, mayo as offered Fries were delicious. Hot and crispy on the outside. Service was excellent with a very friendly and responsive waitress. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
