My family ate here on Thursday. Very clean dining room and pleasant, attentive staff. I had the garlic butter catfish, which was the best I've ever had. I would recommend to anyone. Excellent experience. Very reasonable prices. I was impressed also when I read the sign on the door. Because of the price of beef when they last purchased, they LOWERed the prices of their steak dinners. I've never seen that before.

Nice building. Owners are very friendly. Only been once and got the chicken parmigiana. Probably the best I've had in a long time. I will offer a word of advice however~make a reservation. Not kidding. Fortunately, after reading an article in the Carthage Press online, and seeing that reservations were accepted, I urged my wife to do so. We saw a number of patrons show up and be turned away at the door for not having a reservation, even though I could see no signage that indicated a reservation was mandatory. The sign on the outside says "take out", so one would naturally assume walking in would be okay. Had we driven from Webb City out to Diamond and been turned away, we would not have returned for future visits, despite the fact that the owner was very nice to the people she turned away. I've lived in SW MO for a little over 10 years now, so I've grown accustomed to the fact that even if I wanted to make a reservation, that almost no restaurants here will do it--to their own detriment when I show up with a large party and they are understaffed to handle it. I like places that take reservations. I was used to that prior to moving here. However, knowing my fellow SW MO citizens as I do now... I'm hoping that they haven't turned away too much business at the door. It is hard to keep a small restaurant in business in this area... and turning folks away after generating some good buzz in the local media might just be a death sentence.

I've only been here once, but the food was great! The owners moved to Diamond from New York and brought their great taste for food with them. It is a great place to sit down and talk and enjoy some time with friends and family. Everything is made to order with things like penne ala vodka and pasta alfredo to catfish with Cajun spices and spaghetti red. We recently moved to Diamond so I'm sure we will be back.

We stopped by this absolute gem of a locally owned café on our way home from visiting the nearby George Washington Carver National Park and museum. We had no idea WHAT A TREAT we were in for! It is impeccably clean, you felt genuinely welcome, prices were very reasonable, and the food was incredible. It was obvious to all in our party that the owners and staff have a real passion for creating both food and an atmosphere that is second to none. Two of us had the grilled pork chops which were done to perfection & truly delicious, and one of us had the garlic butter catfish, which she said was so good and unlike any she had had elsewhere, because it was so fresh and tasted like it was homemade. The mac n' cheese was homemade, too.You could tell it had real cheese...mmm...mmmm.....mmmm....so good. And if you like peanut butter...the "Carver Bar" homemade dessert is an absolute "gotta do this" kind of treat. Served warm, the three of us shared it --the perfect finale to our great unexpected find in a local café. It is so refreshing to encounter a business where excellence is the standard. Can't say enough good things! We will definitely be back!

The next time you want a great meal, reconsider choosing one of the high-priced, crowded eateries and chains on Range Line in Joplin, and drive the extra 20 minutes to my little hometown of Diamond. The Diamond Café is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and only for dinner. It's a little place with a small staff, so please make reservations. As for the food, it's one of those places you can pick anything on the menu and can't go wrong. Half of the entrees are traditional fare, half are Italian selections; prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Beverage prices are low; the wine list is sparse but you'll pay $3 a glass. Desserts are made by the restaurant and are wonderful - face it, you won't have room left after the meal, but order them to take home. I'm delighted to have found the Diamond Café - be good to yourself and give them a try.

Okay, so I tried the catfish (lemon butter as they do make a Cajun one as well, but with acid reflux it's not smart to order something spicy even though I love spicy food), and I must say it was amazing! I was a die hard vegetarian until trying the steak (one bite), and then ordering the catfish last week, and again tonight. Catfish is a difficult fish to make taste perfect, but they do it there. I can only imagine what the chef could do with a piece of salmon (as salmon to me is the HARDEST fish to make taste good), but the catfish is amazing! A person gets two HUGE fillets of catfish, and when we went up to pay I saw a lady being served her catfish and I must say I wanted to run over and grab the two fillets and run out the door. I've not eaten any meat until I tried a bite of the steak a couple weeks ago, and now the catfish. I'm a die hard vegetarian, but not when going to the Diamond Café now (they do have vegetarian and vegan options if one asks). They also make a clam sauce for pasta (either red or white) and I was going to order that tonight, but I had to get the catfish again! I should have ordered both, but I couldn't even finish my entire meal and brought it home (like I did last weekend), and I must say the catfish is good cold as well, but when it come fresh off their grill it is just amazing. I was moaning and didn't realize it until one of my dinner companions mentioned it. Food does not make me moan...except there because their food is SOOOO good!
