Best barbecue that I have had in alone time. Great western atmosphere. Love the fireplace and tables. Brisket and pulled pork. They were both excellent. I put the meat on the Texas toast. Amazing. Barbecue sauce is good but very sweet. I asked the waitress if they had anything else and she brought out the spicy barbecue sauce; it was much better. Asked for a couple extra pieces of Texas toast to finish off of meat. Outstanding.

To find a non-chain option along I-70 between KC and Columbia, you have to get off the beaten path a bit. I recently had to be in Boonville by 10 a.m. and was looking for a good breakfast option. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to find the perfect place. They have the standard diner selection of egg/meat breakfasts, omelets and sweet breakfasts. We both opted for an omelet, which happened to be that day's special, so it came with hash browns. We probably could have split the omelet and still been stuffed. The food was delicious, the coffee was good and the service was just right. Topsy's is easy to find - just go straight south after you get off at the exit, and look for it on the east side of the street. It's clean, delicious, and worth the few extra blocks to escape from the fast food/truck stop glut.

Food was good, not great. Could tell this was local diner, as french fries and burgers appeared to be of the frozen variety. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The tomatoes were not ripe, but it is early in the season. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I guess all in all it was a good lunch :). Bathrooms could be updated, but....

Yummy home-cooked food!! Great prices!! Staff is friendly. My children love stopping by to see Jackie (owner). Perfect little restaurant to have in our town!!!

We like the fresh homemade taste of mom & pop places. Topsy's didn't disappoint. Actually they were even better than expected. Fresh vinegar coleslaw, broccoli salad, tasty meatloaf, amazingly juicy yet crispy fried chicken, rolls and the coconut cake were our favorites. They've been in business for over 100 years. The history of the place is evident in the decor. It's a clean, charming place with sincerely pleasant staff. Check it out!

Great little mom and pop cafe. Great home made food for reasonable price. Sure beats crappy chain restaurant. Love their biscuits and gravy!! Waitress was very pleasant.

right off of 70 , just 100yds down Main Street on the left. Clean, friendly staff, everything made fresh and you can sit at the counter and see your food being cooked. A nice change from truck stop fare. inexpensive. Good menu, great coffee. Clean bathroom. Been several times during cross country adventures. Would recommend to friends and colleagues.

I have to agree with Thane, I would definitely recommend this above a truck stop. Prices and food were good, I would go back. I had the hash (as did my parents), which was Good. If I go back I would go for the omelets, as I'm not a huge breakfast potato person. The place is nice and homey, the marble rye bread appears it might be homemade, which would be amazing if so!!!
