We didn't stay at the B&B, just visited the tasting room. The sweet couple who own this lovely home were very friendly when we stopped in. We were taken through a very informative (and even instructional - which we welcomed) wine tasting and were quite impressed with each pour. We also had a great time petting and playing with the Irish Wolfhound pup. Yes, as one reviewer mentioned, the tasting is $5 and the wines are higher than most other Mo wines at $26 a bottle. That being said, White Rose is clearly crafting a high quality product that in my opinion is worth the price tag. I hear many people complain about the quality of some Mo wines and the flavored syrup that's common in the state, you won't find that here. The aroma, body and flavor of each wine at White Rose is carefully created (curated, even) by the winemaker. At $26 a bottle we only left with one but they ship for free so I'm planing to place a regular order.

The wines are superior. Having said that, the B&B owners are a bit eccentric. I didn't mind so much, if I wanted, "normal or mainstream," we could have stayed at a hotel. I could see how some people could find the home a bit, "creepy" but I found it a bit of an out of the ordinary stay. Kinda fun & engaging. We did a wine tasting, had a bottle that night as well as purchased a case to take home. If you purchase a case you get a small discount, for some reason the 13th bottle, the bottle we purchased there & drank did not get the discount. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or their pricing.

We just did the wine tasting and did not stay at the B&B. Upon arrival the outside of the house and lawn are extra ordinary! Inside the inn is dark and dusty, dog hair everywhere. There were two gentlemen doing the wine tasting when we arrived, so we decided to take a tour of the house. We couldn't take a seat anywhere due to the dog hair. The room at this inn were not clean, they were dark and just had the overall feel of creepy! At the tasting the woman (co owner) appeared to be already intoxicated. She stated her husband usually does the tastings but was on an errand. All she did was pour the wine and then read the label on the bottle. When her husband did arrive and took over the tasting, he did the same thing! It was uninformative and some of that wine was old and vinegary! Lucking this tasting was a Christmas gift and we didn't have to pay for it.

So, let it be said that the wines produced at the White Rose are high quality. That being said, the actual experience of visiting the location is less than welcoming. The home is Victorian and filled with family photos and mementos that provides a rather closed-in feel. The tastings are a non-refundable $5 and all bottles of wine are $26, quite high in my opinion, compared to other Missouri wines that are of the same quality but offered at lower prices. The owner and his wife are a bit stifling and the house, while historic, is quite creepy. I did not feel comfortable at the location and decided against staying the night after we did the tasting.

First off, don't go by your GPS to get there, do call them when you get close. This place is great, and we will be back. They have four rooms, but my mother, my child, and I decided to stay in the Vineyard Room-I think.... well the one in the attic, which is quite AWESOME. I am a first timer-on bed and breakfasts, and they were great hostess. We bought wine, saw the celler, and OMG, the food greatness... they have like a irish french toast cream burle(sp?) thing, with is greatness as well.....This house was sooo old, cool, and we just had fun looking around and asking questions. You will not regret it, it was fun and felt like family.
