Nice historical spot, good Philly cheese steak sammich, curly fries and pickle fries. Cold beer and a full bar.

Good eats. My husband had the Royal w/cheese burger. Handmade patty cooked perfectly. I had the chicken Philly (no bread). Very tasty, seasoned well. Our server, Tiffany, was awesome. Will be back next time we're antiquing in Boonsville.

Not a good place for salads. I stopped in after a long ride on the Katy trail hoping to dive into a big plate of greens, but was sadly disappointed. I added chicken, bringing my total up to $13, but the amount of salad was far far less than I would have expected. For the size, I would have paid $7 with the chicken but nothing more. The flavor was there, but again, hardly anything to fill me up for an entree. That said, it seems the other food is great and if I'm ever in Boonville again I will for sure get something else. The poor salads are just not the high point at this restaurant :(

My family of seven stopped here for lunch and had a disappointing meal. The server was nice and help us construct a table for seven. We were one of 3 tables in the place and noticed on Wed they close at 2. They also do not offer entrees before 5 pm basically serving lunch only. When the server went to take our order we where told they were out of pork and turkey today, resulting in 3 less items on a small menu. We ordered water, placed the order and waited and waited. Did I mention that we were only one of 3 tables? The food was served on mid sized plates resulting in smaller portions. This is okay if you are not wanting to over eat. I felt the plate lacked a pickle. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the confit in the description. I am unsure what was confit because it was a plain grilled chicken breast with mushrooms and tangy cheese. Was the cheese confit or swiss? My young boys had the kids meal hamburgers served without any toppings and on a plain bun. We asked for cheese but the server did not not if it was included. I also asked for pickles and was told they do not serve pickles. I swear I should have just left when they said there was no pork or turkey. 75 bucks later I left with a car full of disappointed patrons.

Good food, nothing over the top. But straight forward and flavorful. Ice cold beer. Friendly staff

Went to the phoenix last night for a first date. It was really great! We both had chicken sandwiches and side salads. I loved having avacado on the sandwich (it comes that way) All the deco was really great and we had fun looking and talking about everything while we waited for our food. And they were aying our favorite music so it was just really fun for us :) will definitely be going back!

Visiting friends in Boonville last weekend and stopped in here for lunch. My French dip was delicious, very lean, and the fries were tasty too. We shared some appetizers as well, the pretzel cheese bread was especially a hit. Small place, locally owned and operated. Give it a try!

My mother and I were visiting family and we went as a group of 7. They were very accommodating. The owner was very nice, seemed to care about the town history and our experience. Owner is enthusiastic and will have great conversations with the customers. Everything we ordered was good. Small good selection of beer as well. We even saw an official real estate sign from my great grandfathers company on the wall. Pretty cool. Boonville needs a place like this!

Best burgers in town .. actually everything on the menu is tasty. Welcoming atmosphere, service is great and always a good time to be had. Highly recommend stopping in and giving the Phoenix a try.

We were riding the KATY Trail and decided to stop in for a beer and burger. I did not expect this to be such a gem! My burger was done perfectly, and the price was reasonable. Plus, the staff was friendly and hospitable to weary strangers. If you're riding the KATY, cross the bridge and give it a go.

This is by far the best burger I've ever had. The bread is great and made specifically for them. It's a great hole in the wall. Please eat here. Get the burger with aioli and bacon.

Good food and service. A comfortable, welcoming local hangout in an interesting original downtown near the Missouri River & the Katy Trail.

Overall, I would like to give this place 5 stars, but maybe with this review and a follow-up visit we can get there. The menu is mostly pub food, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Portion sizes were huge. I tried the burger, the pretzel bread for an appetizer, and my spouse had the turkey club. The atmosphere was a bit loud for such a small place, likely due to the loud-mouthed, inebriated person at the bar and the acoustics, which have always been a problem with previous restaurants that have went in here. But, the atmosphere was lively and probably a decent place to watch the game and grab a bite to eat. The food was decent and the burger was okay, definitely hand made, butter leaf lettuce, two extraordinarily small slices of tomato, a small dapple of onions and slice of Swiss cheese. It is served with the house sauce, something that I think might have been Chipotle mayonnaise. It came with a huge portion of curly fries. My spouse's sandwich, looked okay, despite the small complaint of being too dry. Since he hardly complains about anything, it must have been too dry..... My only complaint was the server. Who, I think was a very sweet girl, but definitely inexperienced. However, I don't think she was hired for her work experience. I specifically requested regular mayonnaise, because when I asked her about the special Phoenix sauce she didn't even know what it was and I asked her to make sure the burger was cooked well done. She looked at me with a puzzled look and said that the pretzel bread is usually well done. Thinking she must be joking, I explained that I would send the burger back if it had any pink at all in it. She still didn't get that I was ordering the burger to be cooked well-done. It is been my experience in Boonville that if you don't order your burger well done, it will definitely come back pink. I grew up in North Carolina where it is ILLEGAL to serve a burger that is pink. The NC Health Department is absolutely serious and will shut a restaurant down for serving anything but a well-done burger and while I realize that a lot of people here in the Mid-West eat their meat rare to medium, I am not one of those bloody rare people and feel that E. Coli is not something I want to check into at the local, God forbid, hospital which is akin to Voodoo Village in these parts..... Anyhoo, the burger came with the weird, spicy mayonnaise and I sent it back. While waiting for a new burger top and fresh lettuce, our waitress is sort of standing in the corner twirling her long brown, gorgeous locks. Now, I've been a server in a few restaurants and most places, long hair should always be pulled back and under NO circumstances should it be loose and the server should NEVER run her fingers through it---especially in front of customers. But, hey, this is Boonville people and somewhere along the river in this backwoods small town the local Health Department is probably in a shed or something, so eat here at your own risk..... But, this isn't the end of my sorrowfully sordid story. At the end of the meal, thinking the burger was a bit too fatty and a bit over-whelmed with the naïveté of the server, I asked for a to-go box. Well, she promptly picked the plate up and took it back to the server's station and puzzled over that for a second, before --- Dear God, picked up my burger with the same hands that she had fingered her hair with and placed it into the to-go box. So, there you go..... Now, to be fair, I will say that the owner was appropriately apologetic about the weird mayo situation. Unfortunately, I didn't want to call his attention to the beautifully naive server situation, as she did seem to try very hard to please us. Also, regrettably, I have to write this unfortunate review and will change it, IF and only if, on my next visit -- these issues are thoughtfully addressed. That being said, it is a new restaurant and servers in this small, riverside community are extremely hard to come by. So, eat here with the caveat of DO NOT let the take-out box leave your table......
