We were here a year ago and ate at this restaurant. There was a huge gathering of people in town for an event and although they are attached to the Plaza hotel in the same building the two management teams didn't communicate. As a result the GM wasn't prepared and took 2 hours to serve our awful food that didn't look like the pictures in the menu (missing ingredients and when we compared to the menu picture the manager said "we don't do that here"...really?). Fast forward a year later, we've forgiven them and decided to give them another chance. Our server, Heather, was sweet as can be and a great server so this is not her fault. The food was AWFUL. The cheese curds were just fine but the coconut chicken fingers were very darkly burned and over cooked (could barely chew them) and the deep dish pizza that I was so looking forward to was also over baked and the crust, which should be soft and buttery, was cardboard...again, hard to chew. We were so hungry we didn't say a word (nothing they would've been able to do about it anyway, I'm convinced they can't cook) and gave our jaws a good workout. Oh, and there was only a few pieces of sausage on the entire large pizza and I promise I'm not wxaggestokt. We ended up having horrible sore stomach's that throbbed till about noon the next day. We won't make this mistake again the next time we are in town.

I would agree with most of the reviews I've seen here.... I can recommend this place only for late night, when everything is closed, there's absolutely nothing open you can find, the clock is ticking, and you'd really like some greasy food and a beer. Stick with a pizza and some local beer (they usually have a few on tap) and you'll be wine. I mean fine. (Good heavens, stay away from the wine!)

Poisonous. We were staying at the hotel, and pressed for time, so we tried it 3 times... 3 times too many. Always felt like ass after eating their "food." Beers were no better, poured by some gentleman who thought three fingers of foam was standard. I paid for a lot of beer that simply dissipated at the top of my glass. Never again.

Expensive restaurant for what you get. Waitstaff friendly and food is average. Hit happy hour if you want a deal on drinks.

Servers are friendly but service is always very slow. Kitchen seems to do it their way not the customer way. Twice I ordered eggs over hard and they came to me runny. Twice I've ordered steak medium rare and both times it was cooked well done. Great that this place has gluten free bread and pizza crust. Nice to be able to sit outside.
A few steps above fast food. This might be the only place in town to get pasta but it's sub-par in my opinion. Still an okay place to take a date but don;t rely on the restaurant's charm to sweep them off their feet ;) Better to just got o Culver's if you want fish.

It's a large place and we came mid afternoon when only 3 other tables were filled. We had a party of 5 but they crammed us into a 4 person table rather than giving us a larger table. It made no sense. We ordered burgers & fries and the kids had chicken fingers and Mac & cheese. Every person's food was cold. The Mac and cheese was literally cool to the touch. The fries were cold, the bacon on my burger was overcooked and rock solid. Unfortunately the food was very overpriced. 2 kids meals and 3 adult burgers with water to drink was $50. On a positive note, the people were nice. Even still, we won't be back.

This place has the worst management of any restaurant I have ever been too (Ms. Potter) . Her crappy smile and smug attitude only made matters worse when we tried to talk to her, she clearly did not care. It took over a half hour to produce a salad and some soup for my family. The entrees that came after an hour of waiting from this kitchen were nothing more than plates of slop, congealed, barely warm and did not look like the menu photo! I kid you not, stay away from this dump. The beer was good but not worth the 5-10 minute wait. Hard to get them to pay attention to you at the bar even when you wave money on the air. Bartenders are so focused on cleaning glasses and other tasks. Only in Winona could this place exist! I have been to a few Green Mills in Minneapolis which were great but this one is different, you can get better food and service at any truck stop.

We stopped at the Green Mill because it was attached to the Plaza Hotel in Winona so it was convenient for us. The Plaza is nice but the Green Mill was average. We walked into the restaurant via the hotel corridor. This dumped us into a reception area where a hostess was stationed but on the phone. We stood and waited for quite a while as she discussed something. Not wanting to hover while she was busy, we stood about 7 feet away from her and chatted. When she hung up the phone, we expected her to look at us and smile and say " may I help you", that did not happen. She started to write something down on a note pad and never made eye contact with us. A few uncomfortable moments went by and then the door opened and a young man walked it. She looked up and said "may I help you." My wife and I both thought we were in the Twilight Zone. Were we invisible? Had we died and become ghosts? WTF? As she walked to seat this person, I turned and walked into the bar area where I found three waiters giggling with the bartender. I interrupted and said, " can I get some service, something to drink and maybe some food, because the hostess isn't interested in helping us". The waiters looked at me a bit odd and then a young man said "absolutely, where would you like to sit and what can I get you?" After that the service was excellent. As for the food, we ordered a stuffed Chicago style pizza. The sauce was not very flavorful and the dough was not completely cooked and doughy. It is a nice sports bar, if you want a sports bar. Overall, I would try something else next time. Just ok.

If you are hungry and it's 8:00 pm or later do not waste your time here! Not sure why I waste the gas and time to drive out to an establishment that thinks their hours of operation are optional. Two times in a row the kitchen has decided to close down early because they are slow, even though it states on their Web site that food is served (appetizers at least) until 10. So when I show up at 8:30 pm I would assume that appetizers are still an option but not at this Green Mill. This isn't the only two times it has happened to me and my family, but since it happened twice in a row I am now extremely frustrated and disappointed in Green Mill. The reason they are probably slow from 7-10 is because they are so inconsistent with their hours of operation. Bit of advice Green Mill, closing down the kitchen an hour early may be cost effective when its slow in the short run, but pissing off your local customer base will definitely harm you in the long run as we will find better more dependable establishments. For example, the first night you decided to close early my family went to Betty Jo's and had a blast! We showed up at 9:55 pm (they stop serving at 10 too) but they still served us appetizers! The second time you closed down early we went to Jeffersons at 9:00 pm and they gave us a full menu! We will no longer be recommending your establishment as we have found better, more reliable places.

Disappointing again. Out of first appetizer choice. Waited 20 min for lukewarm chicken nachos. Terrible service again. Not sure if they're understaffed or incompetent. I guess the bread was good.

This is the closest Green Mill to my house. It's about a 30 minute drive, but it is worth it. They have a great menu. Everything from steak to pizza. Oh man they have good pizza. If you order a pasta dish you get a mini-loaf of the best bread. If is super delicious. MMMM. They have a great lunch menu with smaller portions, and better prices. This is a very nicely decorated space, with mostly booths. I love booths!!! There bar is okay, but not the most experienced staff. Winona is a college town. I still come here once a month for the food.

The server was wonderful. But the first thing she did was warn us that there wasn't enough staff. Food was slow and a few items were missing. The tequila chili sauce was so spicy my tongue got numb. They were out of a lot of items and our Blue Moon came without an orange. I know they were flooded with people that night, but they said they KNEW about the local special event and called in 3 more cooks. I would have gone elsewhere on an event night and come here on a dead Tues night instead.

Mediocre at best. Saw my meal dying in the window for over ten minutes and figured to not be a nag after sending our drinks back. And the cooks need to not be so in appropriate when there's an open view to the dining area. Might not come back, but our waitress was a doll. Thank you Tana.

Stopped here after driving up and down trying to find a decent place to eat in Winona.Typical regular familiar food menu for the chain restaurant. Tried their Thai egg rolls...not bad sandwich was good. Our server was really nice and outgoing. We asked her for a good place to go hiking and she suggested a few and left. A moment later she came back with written directions for us which I thought was really nice. Very nice service experience.

Came here for breakfast after my husband and I checked out of the Plaza Hotel. We probably would have gone to McDonald's instead (and I wish we had), but we tried Green Mill because the hotel gave us a two-dollar gift certificate that we thought made sense to use. The first bad decision was choosing Green Mill for breakfast. The second bad decision was agreeing to the buffet. Waffles! French toast! Eggs! Sausage! Bacon! Cereal! Yogurt! Biscuits and gravy! Fresh fruit! Of course I wasn't going to pass up a 9.99 buffet with all of those options. What they didn't seem to understand is that quality is more important than quantity. 9.99 still isn't a good deal for a lot of food if all of the food tastes bad. The boxed cereal was okay; although, there was only one unlabeled pitcher of milk (with no top or lid) sitting next to the cereal. I figured by the taste of it that it was 2%, but I'm not sure. Then I couldn't find a spoon. So I had to ask the waitress for one. Seems like you should have spoons at the buffet counter if you're going to have cereal and yogurt... Then I tried the sausage: luke-warm and rubbery. Then I tried the hashbrown: luke-warm and chewy. Then I tried the french toast and the waffle sticks; guess what? Luke warm and chewy. I don't think I had more than one bite of anything (other than the cereal). The other funny bit was what my husband got when he ordered a glass of grapefruit juice. They brought out a glass of what looked like bubble-gum-pink lemonade. I'm sure it was some type of grapefruit "drink"; it just wasn't juice. I guess that's it. The service was fine. The food: awful. But I can only speak for breakfast. I'd recommend saving your money, passing on the hotel discount, and hitting up McDonald's or a local bakery instead.

This is probably the best restaurant in Winona, considering its competitors are McDonald's, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell. They have good appetizers (Southwest Egg Rolls, Coconut Chicken Tenders, Quesadillas) and the entrees are good, too. Delicious burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. Extensive menu-something for everyone. Very friendly service. Dine in weekdays or take out during the weekend when they are busy at nite. They also have a nice bar area, but just made the whole restaurant a non-smoking facility...

Nothing too great.. But I guess in a small town like Winona this is as good as it gets ... I went there only because it's right opposite to the hotel I stayed in.. Decent food.. Okay atmosphere.. Typical green mill I guess

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
