World's best donuts. The glazed are huge and melt in your mouth. I love, love, love this place.

Oh my goodness, only three words count here = MAPLE!!! LONG!!! JOHNS!!! (Or is that actually two words - "longjohns"?) In any case, just eat these fat babies and I promise you'll be in HEAVEN! Bloedow's makes the best in the world...

Pronounced Play-Doh but with a B. I probably say it wrong in my southern accent. However, after picking up a box of Bloedow donuts and a bag of Kwik Trip milk, I'm always happy that I crossed the Mason-Dixon line. Great place and a must visit for bakery delights if you are in Winona. To help out, right now, the filled Donut Schedule is (our favorite is the Bavarian): Monday - Bavarian Cream Tuesday - Lemon or Whip Cream Wednesday - Apple Thursday - Bavarian Cream Friday - Lemon or Whip Cream Saturday - Bavarian Cream or Blueberry

This bakery is the best; hands down. I don't know of any other bakery that's more well-known for their excellent pastries at very reasonable prices. Our favorites are the Danishes, the bacon maple long johns, and any of their sweet rolls. You really can't go wrong with anything you get. A true Winona institution.

Best maple long John you will ever have. Staff is great. Long is usually long, but there is a good reason for it and it is well with the wait.

Best donuts anywhere, love their maple long johns. I've been to some great donut shops around the US and Canada, but there is nowhere that comes remotely close to Bloedows. Get there early for the freshest and best selection. These are legit donuts and won't stay good for long. Also, not good to ship unfortunately; tried to ship these to Boise once. Didn't work out.

Can I just say, full disclosure, that I hate chocolate, and I hate cake-type textures of foods. This means I'm just not really a dessert person. I don't like pies, cakes, donuts, and anything involving chocolate. So I went into this "must try" bakery expecting to not like anything. WRONG. whatever sweet magic they make their donuts with, I'm obsessed. I'm sure I'll never like any donuts anywhere else ever again. It was like fluffy, and moist, whereas I always think of donuts as being cake-y and dry... The white icing was INSANELY good, and I immediately regretted not ordering more when I left. the line was hella long, out the door, which I'm not crazy about and it seems like they have limited hours and it's not always open. BONUS: You can't beat these prices and that white icing. So much yum.

Amazing. Good prices. The best donuts anywhere hands down. Glazed and apple fritters are the best.

I had heard about this place for years from my wife who used to live in Winona...they were very busy on a Saturday morning but I have had better baked goods in the Twin Cities...

It's pronounced "BLAY-doh." I'm sentimentally attached because my dad worked here in the 1970's and I've been enjoying this independent bakery's treats my whole life. Today I visited for the first time in maybe 10 or 15 years, since I live in Oregon now. The interior is delightfully and decidedly unmodern. There's a large yellow built-in buffet/bar with a large mirror, pressed-tin ceiling tiles. and green brown and yellow printed wallpaper that would have been appropriate for Carol Brady's kitchen. And yet, this just adds to the charm. You're greeted by large display cases full of goodies: doughnuts, cookies, bars, brownies. I had a 7-Layer bar and a coconut macaroon cookie. SO GOOD! The young lady behind the counter smiled patiently as my dad and I discussed "Grandpa Bloedow", who's faded portrait hangs high on one wall. I got the feeling she's had old employees come reminisce before. If you find yourself in Winona, don't miss Bloedow's. Did I mention the cinnamon rolls the size of a dinner plate??

I have lived all over the US and lived in 3 foriegn countries, and can say that nothing comes close to Bloedow's donuts. The maple long john is the standard by which all other donuts should be measured, though I wouldn't turn down the raised sugar donut. It breaks my heart that I have to travel to my small-town hometown of Winona Minnesota for such a treat, but I would, and have, gladly crossed oceans for just a taste. Keep it up Bloedows!

Best bakery in the Midwest!! I promise you won't be disappointed! Try the maple long johns or some of their sugar cookies!

I've been living in Winona for more than a decade, and try as I might, I just can't quit Bloedows. Having gone gluten free several years ago, and really re-commiting to that recently, I just can't say no to a beautiful, light, decadent maple long john (now with more bacon!) from this delightful local bakery. There is a local rumor that they put Krispy Kreme out of business in the area; we are a proud town that is ruthlessly loyal to our local bakery mainstay. Phenomenal. I'm going to miss it.

Best doughnuts in the history of doughnuts. The maple long john with a coconut glaze is my personal favorite. Anytime I see someone with one who isn't sharing, I automatically hate them. I would take a week old donut from here, rather than a fresh one from Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, Kwik Trip, or any other poser store. Once you've had the best, you can forget all the rest.

These are the best doughnuts you will have in your lifetime. Most of the local Kwik Trip gas stations also sell them if you aren't near the bakery itself. Seriously though, nothing compares. If you're in the area you have to try them!

We were driving back from Sturgis and my wife mentioned this place in Winona. The next morning we drove back from La Crosse just to take some back to home with us. Those were probably the best damn doughnuts and pastries that I have had in a very long time. Please do us a favor and open one of your shop in the Chicago area. I'm 18 miles from the WI border and that would be even better. E. Grant Lake Villa IL

Sweets are my passion and calling, and I'm a snob. I've lived all over the country and Bloedow's are the BEST yeast donuts I've ever had. Light and fluffy, almost a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It takes a lifetime of skill and a great recipe to pull that off! Most of the time my philosophy about sweets is: the bottoms are just a delivery mechanism for the frosting, but in this case, the frosting (especially the Maple frosting on their famous long john) is literally the icing on the already fantastic cake. If you are anywhere near Winona, it's totally worth the trip in. But go early, or call ahead and ask them to save you a few. Note: they also have cake donuts, but they are not transcendent like the raised donuts!

I have NEVER had a better long john! Every time I go to Winona I make sure to stop at Bloedows :-)

Hands down the best bakery in the midwest. No other option but to go to Bloedow's for your morning fix. Excellent choice is a variety of doughnuts/pastries/muffins. I love you!

Anytime I see a shop claiming to have the world's best doughnuts, I try them, just to see if they can stand up to this place. So far, nothing has even come close to Bloedow's. Nothing. The pastry itself is spectacular, but it's their light yet rich frosting that really sets this bakery apart. The signature dish is the maple long-john; it must be tasted to be believed. The prices here are absurdly low. If this were shop were located in a bigger city, it could easily charge many times the pittance they ask for their wonderful fare. If you have tried Bloedow's and found better doughnuts elsewhere, please let me know. Until I learn otherwise, I think Bloedow Bakery is the best in the world.

I rarely see a shop with only 5 star reviews so I thought I would check it out! I don't mean to ruin a streak but this place needs an honest and humble review. It's a bakery. They sell donuts and bread and such. They do exactly what they are supposed to do and that deserves a 3 star review. It says "A-OK", which is exactly what it is. There was a large variety of sweets but none of them had labels. When I asked to hear about the types the woman who worked there seemed very irritated with me for asking. I bought three donuts to share with a friend and they were fine. Sorry, but again: Just your average bakery.

Amazing bakery! Long running, friendly, and cheap. Maple long-johns are to die for. Whenever I go to visit Winona, I always stop here. Must bring cash.

Awesome bakery, great doughnuts. Bloedow's is one of the gems of Winona. if you're new to the area or here on business, definitely go check it out.

Bloedow's was established in 1924 and hasn't changed much in the 84 years since. This is not a bad thing as they have always had the best baked goods around. Fresh baked bread, buns, cookies, donuts, long johns, and bars fill the cases of this little home-town bakery. Everything to fill your sweet tooth. Personal favorites include the maple long johns and the apple bars (an inch of creamy white frosting over a savory layer of apple filling and crust). The only con is their limited bread selection. I'm hoping some day that they'll add a nice foccacia. If you can't get to their main location on Laird Street, the Kwik Trip on Huff offers Bloedow donuts in their bakery section. An old fashioned bakery that has lasted 84 years because of good quality, good price and great taste.

A vintage small town bakery. I've heard a rumor that they refuse to bake any more than they did back in the old days despite the high demand. That said, get there early to insure the best selection. I recommend the blueberry filled bismarks.

Bloedow's knows donuts. This bakery has a well-established reputation for quality donuts. You really can't go wrong here - so many tasty donuts to choose from. Though many people (understandably) keep it simple, and stick with the Maple Long John's. SO GOOD!
