This locally owned pizzeria is nestled in downtown Willmar. I ordered the noon special: a mini-pizza with the salad bar and a drink included. I also chose the thick crust option for the pizza. The salad bar was basic, but the ingredients were fresh. The pizza, however, left a lot to be desired. The crust was pre-made, and I can't believe someone had the gall to call it "thick." It was most certainly on the thin side and was crisp, not chewy. The flavor was more like a stale cracker than pizza dough. To top it off (literally, ha ha), the cheese, if you could call it that, lacked any flavor at all, and looked like congealed Elmer's glue. It wasn't nicely browned at all, just kind of gooped on for effect. I recall there being some sauce, but it was quite unmemorable since it lacked robust, fresh flavor. I've had better pizzas in the airport. The only thing that saved them from a one star rating is the fact that the service was very friendly. Well, that and the fact that I feel really bad that the town of Willmar clearly lacks a good pizza joint. One star for food; one star for pity.

I haven't had their pizza in over 28+ years. Not that it was bad, it was just all the Big Name pizza places started popping up in town, then moved out of town. I ordered a pizza Thurs. night to be delivered at lunch on Friday. It came on time and was just as good as I remembered it to be! Too bad they don't open back up until 5. I get off work at 4:30 and don't really want to hang around Willmar til then to order a pizza to take home.

The taco pizza is the best in the great city of WIllmar. The squares are also superior to the pizza offered at other pizza places in town.

Maybe I don't get it. I have heard very good things about Jake's. but my experience left something to be desired. FOOD - The pizza was SUPER salty, and not in a good way. The cheese tasted like it was low quality. The crust was crispy, but too thin to be called New York style. SERVICE - The service was not as good as the food (yikes). The waitress was apathetic to say the least. She did not know the menu and was not overly friendly. DECOR - Not good, but who cares....its a pizza joint. To be honest, the take-and-bake pizza at Papa Murphy's is much better and far cheaper.

Good pizza, poor location! I really don't see the draw to this place.... The only good time to go is for the lunch meal, then the service is good, but if you go in the evening the place is run by high school kids and are just watching the clock and could care less if the place makes money.....

Boxed heaven - check! This is great pizza and worth going in there. The seating is pretty snug but vast in the small appearing building. We ordered to pick up - took 15 mins and it was ready for us by the time we made it in to pick it up. It was great pizza (I love me thin crust) and it was delicious. We have half and half (pepperoni/ sausage, pepper, mushroom, olive) and very delicious! Price wise a medium was about $18 if my memory serves me right, so don't try to compete with the deals of the mainstream pizza guys... but treat yourself to this pizza.

This place is located in downtown Willmar and a family run pizza place. Jakes has good lunch specials and can accommodate large groups upstairs on the second floor of the restaurant. However, over time the service gone up and down depending upon who is working. The older servers are nice while the younger ones around the high school or college age group can be rude from time to time. The pizza is ok but is real greasy from the cheese. Overall what brings Jakes score down is the service and quality of the food.
