6smith has a wonderful outlook on what a restaurant should be. Their focus on sustainable and environmentally conscious providers shines through on the menu. All steaks are USDA certified prime, the savory natural flavor is unlike any other restaurant I have tried. Make sure to enjoy a few of the vegetables - Elote Corn, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus to name a few. The craft cocktails are another amazing contribution the menu, I suggest the 46 cinnamon stix with Makers Mark 46 infused in house with apple, vanilla bean and cinnamon sticks! The wine list has a fabulous selection of small production vintners along with a few more well known favorites. The staff is quite knowledgeable on all they provide and encourage questions and conversation. Last but not least, you can't beat the view from their rooftop patio. Definitely a place to keep on your radar.

Went with a couple over the summer and enjoyed a meal on the patio. Food offering was delicious with some standard favorites (surf and turf) and unique veggie updates to old classics. Our server was attentive and thoughtful. I liked the way the staff seemed very happy to be there and interacted pleasantly with the manager - hats off to the manager for being so professional and nice to his staff. It set a pleasant tone for anyone watching what the staff was doing. I thought the place was well run and had a nice overall atmosphere for a night out alone or with kids - friendly to either kind of party. Good drinks list, knowledgeable wait staff and out of the way lake views. Not so many "look at me" types this side of Wayzata.

My husband and I started with the Calamari. Our order was placed and literally one minute later we had calamari on our table. It was cold! Our calamari had not been freshly prepared. I brought this to our servers attention and she was extremely apologetic. She offered to bring us a new one, we declined and she decided to take the calamari off our bill. Our next course was the Heirloom Tomtato Salad. Both of our salads had slimy, black basil pieces. This basil should have been thrown away. We ordered the Braised Pork Shank to share. Flavor was amazing, however it was not hot. Our pork had been sitting while the rest of our groups food was prepared. This dish would have been top notch if we would have received it HOT. We also ordered bread to have with our entree. Our server let us know the bread was still frozen and needed to be warmed in the oven. She ensured me that it was worth the wait. When the bread arrived, the baguette was very warm, however the other bread was still frozen in the middle. I would think that your establishment would be making fresh bread daily? We only brought the calamari to our servers attention. I had guests at my table and the last thing I wanted to do is complain about our food in front of them.

We had a reservation for 6 at 7:30pm and they were packed. We got there 20 minutes early but didn't mind waiting since we got a seat at the bar. They weren't able to seat us until 7:40 because of how busy they were, which we didn't mind. But to make up for it, they gave us 3 free appetizers and they were phenomenal. Great food, great service. Will definitely go there again.

The atmosphere is sterile, cold, uninspiring and uninviting. The server did not get our order right and that was only the appetizer portions. The words that come to mind are pretentious and assuming, service with an attitude. The server figured that we were only there for happy hour, not realizing that we were ready to order a bottle of wine and entrees, after all, isn 't that what date night is? The burger was run-of- the-mill, less than average. The lettuce wraps had no taste, and how hard is it to make good mac and cheese? Glad the server forgot the kim chee reuben egg rolls because at that point we didn't want them anyways, we just wanted the check so we could leave. My husband's martini tasted like vermouth and was equally marginal. I would not recommend this to anyone. The only highlight was the prarie vodka on the rocks, which is a testament to prarie vodka, not 6 Smith.

As a mother of three, it is rare for myself and husband to get out and spend a special night together. We had heard such good things about 6Smith and to get a reservation ON the patio on such a beautiful night...well, you can imagine how excited we were to enjoy the evening just the two of us with good food, wine and each other. So here is how the actual evening went. Arrived for our 7:30 reservation and stood in a very long line. That part is fine. It only made our anticipation of enjoying the atmosphere and food that much more. We got to the stand and it seemed like chaos. Yes, we have your reservation but we have a chair shortage happening...so if you can please wait we'd appreciate it. Hmmmmm, Ok. Good enough. Gave us a chance to soak up the beautiful space and people watch. Got to witness the manager getting berated by another guest who had been sitting at the bar for 45 minutes waiting to be seated. So tensions seemed pretty high already. After about a 20 minute wait, we were finally seated. The girl who sat us was pleasant. We were seated on the patio on the far end. I had a view of the action, while my husband had a view of the serving station. Needless to say, if the serving station was in order, it might have been ok. But it was a mess. After about 15 minutes sitting there we were FINALLY greeted by our waitress, Molly. She was pleasant. Nice enough. We asked a few questions about cocktails. While she could answer what was good, Mojito, Margarita, she couldn't answer on any of the New School drinks. "Haven't had, I don't know." So we asked for a couple minutes to decide. A couple minutes turned into 20 minutes. She came back. We ordered the Wind Cries Mary and Passion Made Easy. 20 minutes later we get our first drinks. Received the Passion Made Easy and a Bloody Mary. NOT what we ordered. "Oh, I must have put that into the system wrong." 15 minutes later we get the RIGHT drink as ordered. I'll be back. At this point, our ice waters are gone. So my husband sees the carafs of water on the serving station, gets up and pours us refills. Seeing how things were going, we placed an order for 6 oysters on the half shell and a bottle of wine. Simple enough, right? Well, drinks finished and about 20 minutes later we get our oysters, no wine. Finished oysters. Wine came. Bottle ordered was effervescent and smelled of vinegar. Sent back. Then she offered a taste of the Newton that came 10 minutes later. At this point we then just opted for a GLASS of that wine for each of us. We then asked for specials, recommendations, thoughts on certain things. Her knowledge of the menu was low. And while being pleasant, it didn't feel like the kind of service you would expect from the prices that we were about to pay. So at this point, after an hour and a half, we have had 6 oysters, two drinks, one wrong drink and a refill of water that my husband procured. We then ordered the spare ribs and beets. And while the oysters were great, hard to mess up what mother nature prepares, the spare ribs were fine. Inconsistently cooked at best. Some tough and over cooked. Some moist. The beets were pretty, but under seasoned. No description from our server. Something like "we like to keep the skins on the retain flavor" or anything like that. My husband makes better beets than what we payed for. As annoyed as we were at this point, we decided to order ONE entree IMMEDIATELY as we could see how long it was taking to get drinks, oysters and appetizers to the table. The dinner came FAST. It took longer to get plates in front of us because we were sharing than it took to get the meal itself. Finally, plates in front of us. Scallops looked nicely cooked. Gnocchi, looked good. Tomato? Really. Maybe 2 little pieces and a shriveled up leaf of basil. So we dug in. Again, maybe our expectations were set too high. We know the chef is famous for what he does. His restaurant concepts are way up there. This food did not match expectations. When we needed to salt and pepper the Gnocchi, you know there is a problem. Then, one piece of Gnocchi left on the plate in front of us and Molly, our server, comes over and asks if we are going to finish it. And stands there. And stands there. And stands there until my husband stabs it with his fork and eats it. She then grabs all plates and runs. THE fastest part of our evening. And rude. Then the check comes. Nearly $200 because she left the first BOTTLE of wine on the check. My husband needed to find and call over Molly to say something. Just the perfect end to an already crazy dinner date night. And still, payed nearly $140 for a two and a half hour evening meant to be memorable for a whole host of other reasons...this night was certainly one to not forget. We couldn't wait to leave and find our way to a Culver's for ice cream.

Everything we had was amazing. Knowledgable staff and wonderful ambiance! Will be returning frequently!

Went there on date night hoping for the best. It was a Wednesday. The outdoor seating is great. Perfect setup. Bathrooms in the restaurant were only one stall so hint to go to the front entrance and use public bathroom. Bad setup on the 1 stall bathroom. We had crab guac which was just okay. Portions were small. I ordered ribeye medium rare and it came out over cook. It was still very good. Wife got filet and it was well done. They did get her a new filet which a manager brought to us but again overlooked when ordered medium. Even over cooked the meat was good. They did comp the filet, 1 drink and a desert for overcoming the steak. Drinks were great. I think they need a little time to get things right. We will try back in a few months. Finally, be careful of the crazy lady that rents next door. She is entertaining though. You will know what I am talking about if you see her. She may also try to sit at your table and eat your food. Too funny.

Yum! Great food, cool atmosphere. A winner and hopefully a long term fixture in the Boathouse.

In a word: Fabulous! We had a New Years Eve reservation and were seated promptly at our reservation time. The Calamari appetizer was the best I've had, the crispy coating was divine. Our waiter, Chad, was spectacular and very helpful. I ordered the Red Velvet Punch and it was delicious and perfectly mixed. I had the Flank Steak for dinner, it was a masterpiece in my mouth. My friends steak was a little under cooked and they threw it right back on the grill for her and returned it with some extra crispy onions and sauce. Great place! It's just as fun in the middle of winter as it is in summer!

This was extremely disappointing, considering all the buzz about this place. The place wasn't full and the food came out so slowly we could have had three meals at any normal restaurant, And then when the food finally did come it was just, and I mean just, mediocre. The Oysters Rockefeller was just OK. You could not taste the Pernod which makes an Oysters Rockefeller what it truly is and our French fries with two dips was just kind of thrown on the plate and had no garnish or no real thought behind it. You could tell the two dips had just been thrown in their cups probably hours before and were just also thrown on the dish. We had a vegetable salad and a Caesar salad and both were just again, mediocre. I've had a better Caesar at Applebee's. It had no taste what so ever and if I had been blindfolded I would nave known it was a Caesar salad. The Vegie salad was OK. But then to charge us $2 for bread that was also nothing special, well, that was just a rip off. We had the Fat Burger and it was OK at best. It was obvious it had been under the heat lamp for quite awhile since the pickles on the plate had been curled from the hear and the Cole slaw that came with it were again equal to McDonald's at best. And for $15!! The Chicken was good and so were the vegetables and the best of what we had. Still. for the price and the setting we were deeply disappointed. Plus the décor and walls and floors are so cold that I have no idea how this place will make it in the winter. I don't wish them ill will but this was just so, so average, or maybe even a bit below even that for a standard, that we can't recommend it for anyone. And by the way, we really wanted it to be good as we had friends from out of town and we had heard about the reputation of both the GM and the chef, but having been in the restaurant business myself for 30 years, this place is not yet ready for prime time.
(2)Kohler A.
Had to wait for a table. We sat at the bar. Cool atmosphere. The crab guacamole we ordered had the seed of the avocado it in. Not very appetizing. Otherwise we had the half chicken with gnocchi. It was good.
(3)Alissa A.
Food was great, service was friendly. Nice evening atmosphere. I ordered the salmon, a side of brussel sprouts and a duck appetizer. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out of the kitchen well timed.
(4)mike c.
Very disappointed in the food at this restaurant. Fish was cold and dry. New Your strip that was ordered was tough and difficult to chew. Skip this place if you can. Nice view of the lake and drink menu extensive
(3)Bart F.
For a brand new spot, they have their act together. Outstanding and friendly service. Good atmosphere and really good food. Does not have to be pricy. Lots of things to share.
(5)Erik B.
Very expensive for what it is. I had a giant paper clip on the table well I ate a 40 dollar steak. I guess it was to keep the table cloth down. How about some tape underneath or velcro so I don't have to dine over a binder clip. Great service though! Needs to have more mid priced sandwich options. The person I was with said the burger was not very good.

My husband and I came here on opening night and i am pleased to report that I think 6Smith is going to be a great addition to Wayzata. It's nice to have another restaurant we can boat to on a nice night. We sat out on the patio which was very spacious. The tables were far enough apart that you didn't feel like you were taking in everyone else's conversation and the view can't be beat. We checked out the rooftop bar after dinner and it seemed like it will be a great hang out once people get word of it. We had the lobster guacamole as an appetizer. Definitely fresh and tasty but a fairly small portion. Would get again. My husband had the wedge salad. Very large and very delicious. I had the heirloom tomato salad. I have never had anything like it. Very light and refreshing. Would recommend both. We both opted to try the beef. My husband got the ribeye and I got the filet. They only serve prime beef and you can definitely taste the difference. Wow, melts in your mouth. My husbands was cooked perfectly med-rare and mine was over cooked. I asked for medium and it came out well done. Our server and manager took care of this without hesitation. I was not disappointed though. This filet, even being well done, melted in my mouth and left me wanting more! They top the beef with some course salt which doesn't seem like a big deal but it really added a ton of flavor. We are pretty picky about our steak and could hardly wait to try this place. We were looking for a place to get a good steak without having to drive downtown and this place really nailed it. Kudos to Chad, our server. He was great, giving us lots of recommendations and taking good care of us from the moment we sat down. We will definitely be back!

Sadly, a big disappointment. First, where is the entrance? Oh, over to the left beyond a creepy padded door. The decor is kind of stark, and I think will come off as cold during winter months. We were seated for lunch at a booth which completely eliminated any view of the lake. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It arrived cold. It was tough and chewy and the Thai sauce tasted like jarred hoisin. Also many of the rings were unusually tiny and shriveled. Then our lunch orders arrived. The sea bass is served over quinoa with pear slices along the edge of the plate. The pears were good, the quinoa tasteless. The fish was a thin filet with the skin on and unappetizing gray "meat" along the center. There were no interesting flavors, or really any flavor at all. At $24 for lunch, completely unsatisfactory. My sister had the bricked chicken. It basically looked like a chunk of unadorned baked chicken. Nothing special and again, over priced. The bright spot was our waiter who was cheerful and attentive. My suggestion would be to provide some lower priced menu selections, and focus on creating at least one or two items with some robust flavoring. I don't like paying a lot for food that I can make better myself at home.

5 stars for style, concept and setup, 4 stars for menu and 3 stars for service. I am hoping I can update this for the better once the staff is better trained. It was busy and 6Smith is a newborn, so I was lenient with my expectations--but basic table service skills should be established before the restaurant opens to the public. That said, the drink list is well-curated and reasonably priced, and the menu shows potential. I would recommend sharing small plates rather than ordering entrees, but the steaks are perfectly prepared (served a la carte like at Burch). It's a great place to people (and boat) -watch. Definitely a promising place and a welcome change from other Lake Minnetonka fare!
(4)Frank V.
Great outdoor seating. Small wine list. Food was done very well, except calamari had too much soy sauce. Desert menu was kind of plain. Good tap selection at bar. Upstairs outdoor bar was pretty good too. I'd go back
(4)Rebecca O.
The food was okay. This restaurant is yet another overpriced location that does not need to excel in quality or good taste. One of the servers at a table was extremely arrogant. Asked for the wine menu and was told it was on the back of the menu. "The by the glass menu". He assumed that none of the 9 of us was capable of ordering a descent bottle. Unfortunately, there really wasn't a descent bottle to choose from. My only other comment is their friends must be writing their reviews because this restaurant is not worth a second taste.
(2)T A.
Really good food, great feel, nice servers -- had a really enjoyable meal here. The standout for sure was the tamarind-flavored short ribs, but I loved my tea-smoked sea bass, the shrimp and ribs appetizers, and my perfectly made Negroni. This is a REALLY handsome restaurant, by the way. It would be a great place for private dining, too, as you can rent a room that has window frontage overlooking the lake. I'll definitely go back. Oh, and the desserts were really good -- the plumb cake and the milk chocolate custard both delivered and then some.

Three of us for a business lunch. Yummy wonderful Tuna Sandwich. HOWEVER: Big disappointment with waiter calling us girls. "Are you girls ready to order?" "How's your lunch, girls"? Really? GIRLS? Are you kidding me? Won't be back.
(1)Maren T.
Super disappointed. The service was fine but they could definitely use more training and menu knowledge. I ordered a cocktail, the Railway Rider, he brought me a glass of wine. We ordered the Heirloom Tomato salad with dark opal basil, the tomatoes weren't Heirloom and there was no basil, and for $11, I want more than 3 slices of a regular tomato.. Fail. The double dip fries would have been good if they weren't cold. The long bone short rib was very underwhelming, no hint of the supposed tamarind braise. Dessert was good, but again, the server couldn't describe them. We asked about the Stone Fruit Crumble and he didn't know what the fruit was, and didn't know what kinds of ice cream came in the Eclair. Overall, we spent over $100, and left still hungry and very disappointed. I hope they can turn it around, get their menu descriptors right, and educate their staff.
(2)Randy K.
Lot's of wonderful food on the happy hour menu: calamari, short rib sliders, great french fries, spicy wings, and reasonably priced drinks. The real surprise (as in TERRIFIC!) was the shrimp "corn dog." The name does not do it justice. Tasty, large shrimp on a stick surrounded by a crispy tempera-like batter. We tried one, then got two more. Our server, Paulo, was friendly, efficient and very welcoming, as in "Try it; if you don't like it, I'll take it back." The only reason I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars, was the noise -- lots. Paulo had the music turned down for us, but since it was a very cool night, everyone was inside, instead of on the picturesque lakefront deck. It was difficult to hold a conversation.

Needs time I think. I trust the names behind this restaurant and believe it can be good. I went there for the first time tonight and was less than impressed. Let's start with the good. We got a great table right by the lake and even if we had eaten inside the atmosphere was good. We started with the beef cheeks nachos touted by our server as "one of the best things on the menu" and they did not live up to the hype. The beef cheeks were good - like really tender pot roast - but the rest of the dish was basically store bought corn chips with a heavy dose of very greasy cheddar cheese. The pickled onions and green sauce were the highlight of the dish but there was so little of both it was negligible. We saw other orders come out with fresh cilantro which ours was lacking so clearly consistency in the kitchen is still lacking. Overall a greasy, non memorable dish. We also split a large seasonal vegetable salad which was anything but large but flavor wise was the evening highlight. We ordered the chicken and burger for the entrees and both were sub-par. The chicken was overly salty brined and dry with a side of maybe 3 gnocchi and a bunch of overly salty and greasy carrots. The burger basically tasted like liquid smoke on a bun and was a disappointment. All in all a disappointing first experience that we hope is tied to newness. We will probably try it again mainly because of the view outside but we will wait a few months until hopefully they stabilize. The only other comment I have is on their outdoor music soundtrack. It's loud and distracting from the view and actually really bad music. It's like I'm 65+ years old and want some "hip dance music" and this was their interpretation of it. It was like bad techno meets Enya. So they need to work on that too. Again - we will give it another try most likely but in 2/3 mos when hopefully they've improved.

Sadly, I have to rate this place a two. Being in the hospitality industry for 10 years, the only reason this place got a second star is because of the beautiful view off the rooftop. We ordered a couple simple vodka/ mix cocktails, they tasted good. The bartender was accommodating we prefer oysters Rockefeller and he was able to get them on the rooftop. There was another menu for downstairs. Then we ordered the lobster roll. Being from Minnesota we know the true identity of the famous lobster roll it comes from a food truck serving at a bar in northeast. We were served a pitiful toasted hotdog bun, with the driest mix of chunky but fresh lobster. Nothing really that satisfied the idea of what we had hoped for. Order it with a house salad, nothing to write home about. The bartender did not come back to offer us another drink until we we're done eating. Overall the rooftop was a great view and were not in a hurry to return. Entrance was awkward and spend 3/4 of a hundred on 4 drinks an appetizer and still hungry.

I made a reservation at 6Smith last night hoping to celebrate my wife's birthday at a great new restaurant. While parking was a bit tough, the decor of the restaurant was very modern and urban feeling. Nice, though a bit out of place in Wayzata. We were seated promptly by a very friendly staffer and immediately brought water by another pleasant soul. I wish I could say the food was good, but we never got the opportunity to try anything. We sat for 20 minutes and no one ever stopped to talk with us or even acknowledge that we were waiting. The restaurant was about half full and at least 10 servers walked past us several times, but none would even make eye contact. After 20 minutes, we decided that they didn't want our business, so we got up and left. I stopped at the reception desk and explained our situation to the young lady managing reservations and told her that we were leaving. Her response was "Oh." It was a very disappointing experience and it's unlikely we'll waste our time there again. I hope they get it figured out before they go under.

Seafood Tower was Fresh and wonderful! Steak melted in my mouth and the bar offers a lot of great specialty drinks! Ended the evening roof top enjoying the view and weather. Loved the ambiance. Will return!

Went for the first time on 10/24. The waiter, Christian, was very good. He knew answers to our questions about the food and was good about filling our drinks. My husband and I shared a wedge salad . . . delicious! The avocado and bacon on it were fantastic. My husband really loved his steak (at $48, it had better be phenomenal). The brussels sprouts were also wonderful! They had this terrific balsamic drizzle on them that really made them stand out. I ordered the lobster gnocchi. While it was really delicious, I found that only 8 gnocchi pieces were far too few for a gnocchi dish. The lobster was plentiful enough, but the steamed spinach they piled on the top was way too much. It should have been called "Lobster spinach, with a tiny bit of gnocchi." We had a fantastic chocolate/caramel cake for dessert. Overall, delicious meal, if not a bit overpriced. They should offer more mid-price range entrees to turn it from "anniversary night out" to "any date night." We probably won't be back anytime soon due to the cost ($100!) for just the two of us. Cost prohibitive for frequent dining there.
(3)Vic L.
Very good for lunch today! Clam Chowder and BLAT were excellent! Can't wait to try Happy Hour!
(4)Micki C.
I continue to love this place. Service is friendly and so accommodating. Food delish, and now that the patio is open you simply can't beat dining al fresco with a view of the lake. We had the flat bread with riccota, honey and jam for an app today and it was awesome. We housed two plates in a matter of minutes. For lunch I had the tomato soup (so fresh) and chicken salad sandwich. Lunch size portions were hearty enough to be full when I left.
(4)Darcy W.
Go for the view, and stay for the caddy shack! I truly crave those yummy drinks! They have an excellent happy hour. This is one of the "new" places to go in Wayzata. It also has the price tag to go with it... However the prime rib sandwich is to die for! The tomato soup is fantastic, and my sister had a delicious salad. The service is top notch, and I truly appreciate an honest server! Our waiter shared his favorites and what was just "ok". He even brought samples of entrees to make sure we liked what we ordered. It is a cool place to go and I sure hope this place stays open! The prior places didn't last...
(4)Maxine C.
Great location along the lake with fabulous views! Staff was friendly and establishment was clean. Their signature appetizer, beef cheek nachos, was delicious. The flank steak entree was cooked perfectly. We also had the lobster guacamole and curry shrimp which could have used some more seasoning. We ordered the clam chowder with high expectations and it was a complete miss. It took a while to come out because they were out when we ordered and when it was served, it had a horrible burnt taste. We sent it back and our waiter took it off the bill. It sounded like the table behind us also experienced some mishaps with their food. They have a brownie dessert which is every chocolate fan's dream - rich and moist. The apple bread pudding is a great alternative for those not so into chocolate. I would definitely return just for the lake side dining. If they improved their food, they would definitely be a force to be reckoned with!

I've been here twice in the past week (whoops, I love food...), so I'll just blend this into one review. The first time I went, we all got happy hour appetizers after 9pm. We ordered the calamari w/thai sauce, double dip french fries, panko breaded mac and cheese, prime rib lettuce wraps and lobster sliders. These were DELICIOUS. Breaking them down: the calamari was super tasty with the thai sauce and lightly breaded, the double dip french fries were amazingly crunchy (they fry them twice), panko breaded mac and cheese is just as good as it sounds and mixed with a bunch of different gooey cheese, and the prime rib lettuce wraps were good too, but they had a strong horseradish sauce. I'm not a huge horseradish fan, but if you are, I'm sure you'd love it! It wasn't bad, though. The second time we went, we ordered entrees: The lobster roll, Venison & Kobe Juicy Lucy and the Reuben. I ordered the Lobster Roll and it was really good! The bun was buttery (However, it could have been toasted a tiny bit more), but the lobster was great! I ordered it with the sweet potato fries instead, and I HIGHLY recommend this. These were the crunchiest, tastiest sweet potato fries EVER. Seriously, yum. The other two people I was with liked their entrees as well! The atmosphere is beautiful! There is some construction going on in the inside area, but not distracting. We checked out the rooftop deck and it is gorgeous. They were always closing it down early when we went because of the weather, but I hope it's a hit this summer because it's the perfect atmosphere and view! I can't wait to spend more time up there once the weather gets warmer! Also, the patio is super pretty as well - it's right on the lake with a great view! I know my family and I will be coming back here many times this summer! Also, the service is always great every time we've been here. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating.

I cannot express how wonderful 6Smith is. I went to lunch with my mother and her 82 year old friend today. Our server, Nick, made our afternoon an absolutely memorable occasion. We all had the Lobster Roll, and we also all had to try different desserts. Everything was amazing. From the two gracious hostesses, beautiful view, great food, and our incredible server... it was a lovely afternoon. Time with my mother is limited, and this kindness was something I will never forget.

Pull into something called the Boat Works Building on Wayzata Bay and experience a state-of-the-art-looking center with windowed walls, bricky curves, and other accents that make you want to compare it to the Opera House in Sydney except the Opera House in Sydney is 100 times bigger and looks nothing like this. Perhaps it looks like the Opera House entrance? I don't know, something something Sydney. Moving on. It's within this prim, proper building, this something something Sydney on this idyllic little street stretch with white spotless Benzes and mindful street-crossers, that you can buckle up to the Twin Cities' gut-busting new tradition: Fat Pants Friday. If you've got eight bucks and a free Friday, they've got two half-pound pork patties, a yolk mine, two fried bananas, countless bacon strips, and caramelized onions waiting for you between a pair of PB-lined Texas toast slices. They don't mess around at 6Smith, even when they're messing around. They start messing with your mind the second you walk in the door. To one side is a wine shelf that climbs to the heavens; mounted onto another is a metal cow head. The wall facing Wayzata Bay is entirely windowed, and the ceiling patterns perfectly square. The gray shirts of the staffers have all got black ties tucked in between their second and third buttons. You can tell the staff apart, though. The woman who took care of my wife and I had perfectly-spaced blue streaks in her perfectly brown hair, a nose stud, and midnight-shade nails. The tender when I sat at the bar wore hockey hair slicked back, and a tattoo peered out from under his left sleeve. Uniform, schmuniform: from what I could tell, there isn't a boring-looking one on the payroll. I was introduced to my new Friday ritual by what they called The Kingslayer: It went toast, onions, pork patty, bacon, cheese, pork patty, bacon, cheese, toast, peanut butter, bananas, toast. A pickled pepper thing was staked into the top, and a spear of asparagus was served on the side. I made a banana taco out of the top slice, chopped off and ate a quarter out of the bottom floor, and tapped. Like most such monstrosities, this isn't so much an examination of flavor depth as it is a culinary battering ram. You're paying for glances and visceral aches, and it's worth every penny. There's other food, too, of course. At happy hour, their panko-crusted mac-n-cheese is a steal at $4 -- a creamy, cheesy, gooey, resplendent steal. On the other end of the value spectrum is A Fat Burger. Though delicious, at $14, it left my wife wishing she'd have just gotten the $6 happy hour burger. The beer prices, while not intimidating at regular, don't drop much at happy hour. The selection is good. Anyone can find a drink here. Look into the dining room as you leave and you'll see a poster of a suit-and-tied ruffian. He wears a demanding scowl, but his message is EAT MEAT. DRINK NEAT. It's your last reminder that you just ate at a different place. It doesn't matter what we do in the daytime and how big our checks are. We all want the same things after the office on Friday, and 6Smith defies its community's expectations and serves it in a way anyone can enjoy.

We all really enjoyed this place!! Our waiter, Big Daddy, made our experience! He was funny and knew the menu well. We had ideas in mind for what to order, but he guided us in the right direction. We started with the beef cheek nachos and lobster guacamole nachos. Both were delicious, but we all liked the beef cheek nachos more. I got the scallops and the flavors all meshed so well together. Another person with us ordered the sea bass which was healthy and tasty. Although I was partial to the scallops I ordered, everyone at the table agreed the filet mignon was the best. The baked potato was huge and really, really good. It was smothered in cheese, bacon and butter. We all did wish they gave bread and butter to begin, but with the two appetizers we ordered we were fine. The location was gorgeous on the lake and the weather couldn't have been better to dine outside tonight. A solid five stars!

I will return! Inventive menu, beyond the steaks. We had several of the appetizers and I was blissful...and stuffed. Friendly service from the hostess to the wait staff. Our server, Robert, was friendly, and attentive. Posting photos of some our favorites tonight.

LOVE this place! We had a fabulous table outside downstairs. You can also get a table outside upstairs for a livelier atmosphere but amazing views. Enjoyed Brussels sprouts as our appetizer and shared the sea bass - perfect portions to SHARE! Leave room for specialty desserts & cocktails. Make reservations because it's hopping! Best part was the upstairs view. Can't be beat! Music on Friday nights upstairs - DJ. Pricey place so be prepared! Variety of people there from old to young & singles & couples. Will return!

Chicken sandwich was phenomenal. Wings were very good and staff was friendly. I would definitely go back.

Came here for the Sunday brunch with a group of friends. We wanted to sit on the deck upstairs but were told there was a wait. There was no one up there, but ok, so we got a table inside. Inside, you cannot order off the menu during brunch hours, you have to do the buffet. The buffet was $29.99 which includes a glass of prosecco. Normally, I am a fan of brunch buffets, but this one was poorly maintained and lacking the quality most buffets in the area have. We had to ask for cocktail sauce for the shimp, the salmon was gone, the lobster deviled eggs were gone, there was no lean meat options, no carving station, no omlette bar. I was actually pretty disappointed. They had 2 types of scrambled eggs, cheesy hash browns, french toast, some really tough red meat that was some type of steak, but I think the cow walked here from Canada., mac and cheese, bacon and sausage, and corned beef hash and I think that is pretty much it. There wasn't much for a fruit selection, no vegetable.... I don't know, I am used to seeing chicken or a lunch type meat at brunch buffets as well as omelette bars or a serviced carving station, especially at this price, there was not. I also don't like prosecco so I ordered a drink instead but you cannot substitute them. So my brunch was $40 for scrambled eggs and cheesy hash browns. The Lobster deviled eggs finally did show up as we were walking out. They were out for about an hour... I actually don't think I would come back here to eat, I may sit on the patio and have a drink because the view is great, but the food and service will probably have me going somewhere else anyway.

I went to 6 Smith on a busy evening in early July on the same night as Oake On The Water was happening. The place was a mad house but in a really fun THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE way. Our party was sort of big- 12-14 people and was a mix requiring several checks for the party. Our server, Bridgette, was fantastic. She told us all about the specialty cocktails and went into deep menu ingredient detail for one of our group who is a bit particular. Our drinks and food came out very quickly and everyone liked what they had ordered. I had a Dark & Stormy - best I have had anywhere. Go for the beet and sweet potato fries to share! Patrons were definitely dressed to be seen. My only recommendation is to remodel the opening by the host station and get rid of the panel of glass that is marked with a sign that says "glass." I can only imagine what led up to the installation of that sign and wish I had been there to watch. ;)

Finally made it to this restaurant with my husband for a date night. The decor was a modern industrial feel very nice. We were greeted immediately upon entering and given a table. They have a great cocktail menu as well as wine. My husband and I both ordered cocktails to start and they were excellent!! For dinner we started with the beef cheek nachos! Amazing! Do not pass these up! My husband had he rib eye and I the fat burger both were excellent! It is a bit pricy so know that going in also I would've given it 5 stars except our service was a little slow. It was friendly service but it started to get really slow throughout he night.

I loved the amazing rooftop view, the new school specialty cocktails, and the asparagus with egg small plate since they were unique. We also had a really good waitress who made great recommendations on the food and cocktails. I got here around 5:00 on Friday and got a decent spot on the rooftop and about an hour later it was packed the rest of the night. It's probably because they only have happy hour inside downstairs until 6:00. They don't do happy hour on their rooftop patio which didn't really surprise me since most places don't. The cons were that the lobster roll was measly and way over priced for the quality. It didn't come with that much lobster or fries which was disappointing. The lobster roll at Stella's in Uptown was better! The oysters Rockefeller had a good taste but some tiny shells got mixed into one of them so I had to take them out of my mouth piece by piece. The chef must have been kind of careless since this hasn't happened with oysters I've had at Blue Point Oyster across the street. This place also only has one stall for the women's bathroom! If a place has an extensive specialty cocktail menu then they should have more bathroom stalls. I would come back for their happy hour someday and for the roof top view since I can't think of any other rooftop bar around here that has a nice view of the lake.

6Smith is a true gem in the Lake Minnetonka area. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and very different from what you get at Fletcher's or Maynard's, meaning they lack the attitude. The food is amazing and consistent. Their deck is a new favorite for us.
(5)Ryan P.
Beautiful place, great location. However the service was poor, the staff was rude, and the food was overpriced. We had a terrible experience. It's too bad, because it's such a gorgeous facility. There are plenty of other wonder restaurants nearby that are much more deserving of a visit.

6 Smith officially opened (to the public) today and I am mighty grateful to be one of the first to try this place out. This restaurant combines old and new world craftsmanship in its architecture (think industrial chic like the restaurants in the North Loop or Coup D'Etat in Uptown), the food (there's a little something for everyone: small plates, salads, steaks, seafood), the drinks (with classics and 6 Smith unique libations on their "Old and New School" cocktail menu), all this paired with the beauty of Lake Minnetonka as 6 Smith's picture perfect backdrop. This place takes reservations (patio is mostly first come first serve). The service was impeccable (shout out Marcus!), our server was incredibly knowledgeable and did his homework by trying the entire menu (or at least be able to navigate the entire menu), he even gave us a tour of the restaurant and gave the context of how everything was chosen and was attentive to our questions/needs. I ordered the seasonal cobbler (blackberry) for a drink. It had similar qualities to a blackberry mojito. It was delicious. For food, we ordered (upon Marcus' recommendations) the beet and sweet potato fries (dusted with corn starch adding the perfect texture to these tasty bites), char grilled fresh corn (warm, creamy, sweet corn goodness), and the beef cheek nachos (slow cooked beef cheek on top of perfectly thin and salted chips, with fini cheddar, grilled jalapenos, and roasted poblano peppers). I was thoroughly impressed with all the details and execution of this restaurant all the way down to it's kids menu (everything under $7). Thank you for not dumbing it down! Our little guy inhaled the potato gnocchi! Congrats to the Stanleys and JP Samuelson on a job well done. We needed something like this in Wazyata and I am excited to be a regular. From my initial impression, you nailed your mission: ...TO US, EVERYTHING MATTERS. EVERY MOMENT, EVERY DISH, EVERY GLASS, EVERY PERSON. After one visit (we already have reservations for this weekend!), 6 Smith is my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. They are rivaling J.T. by bringing sexy back ! P.S. They are still building their kitchen for their rooftop burger and lobster shack, they will be offering a different food menu in the coming weeks.
(5)Jack G.
Yeah...this place sucks. The first time I went they were out of their bison burger so I got the chicken with gnocci. The gnocci was literally the worst Ive ever had...a truly half assed attempt at handmade gnocci. The chicken itself was meh, overpriced. The second time I went they were out of the bison burger...again...so I said fuck it and went to Jade Fountain. I hear the place has a good nightlife or whatever but I went for the food and was very disappointed. I won't be back.

Hands down the best restaurant experience we have had in Wayzata! I met my brother and nephew for Fat Pants Friday and had the pleasure of meeting the chef who creates the specialty burger each week! He came out multiple times to chat with our table and really made for a nice experience! The burger my nephew and brother both had for lunch was crazy huge and creative with donuts for the buns and bacon galore! I went a little on the simple side and had grilled cheese and chili -- amazing! The chili had a little kick, but the flavor overall was delicious and rich! Perfect with grilled cheese! Overall an amazing experience and we can't wait to go back again!
(5)Chris W.
Looking at the menu, the beet salad looked appealing. After receiving the to go box it looked like a half assed pinch of arugula and about only 3 poorly flavored beets. For the overwhelming of $12 this is a terrible value and will never eat again, and will tell others to not even bother with this place.

Spring in Minnesota means it is time to capitalize on the above freezing temperatures. A lakeside patio seemed like a perfect place for lunch on a spring day, so we made our way to Lake Minnetonka. I went with two others around one for a late lunch on a Sunday. The host showed us to a table inside, because I guess the patio wasn't open yet? That was okay, though. We could still have a lunch by the lake. Then the host said "the brunch is pretty good. And it's buffet style, so you can help yourself". And he walked away. That left us wondering if we would be able to order from the lunch menu, as we had planned. Someone (not a waiter) came over after several minutes to fill our water glasses and we inquired whether we could order food. "No, only brunch right now". Okay. We were having second thoughts about driving all the way out here. Finally our waiter ambled over. "Can I get you guys anything to drink?" He asked. We explained that we had scoped out the menu online and had planned on order sandwiches or something of the sort. "The kitchen isn't open until two". That made me wonder who was preparing the brunch? " but you can order from our happy hour menu and get fries or oysters or the like". At this point it was probably about 1:30 so we weren't sure. We went to look at the brunch buffet to decide if it was worth 27$. The two vegetarians agreed that we'd rather wait, but the omnivore of the group opted for the brunch. Two of us ordered fries and a drink while the other began in on the buffet. A lot of the food looked dry. Most of the dishes had meat added. The pastries looked like a generic mix from a grocery store, purchased the day before. The only "fruit" was the dried fruit mixed in with the soggy granola that was on top of the yogurt parfaits that had obviously been sitting out in room temperature for several hours. At one point "the Bruncher" ( AKA the friend who brunches) tried to eat a piece of beef/steak that was so dry and rubbery that, after several minutes of trying to chew it, she actually had to spit it into a napkin (and as much as that sounds gross, that reflects on the steak, not my friend) The fries came around 1:50. We quickly polished them off, even though they were cold and limp. The "double dip"s were both fairly bland, and one was so watery that it tasted like dipping fries in skim milk. It really made me appreciate ketchup, and I am normally not a fan of ketchup. Our waiter brought us lunch menus around 2:00, and we already knew what we wanted to order but he didn't come back until 2:15. Eventually (long after our brunching fellow had finished eating) our Portabella Sandwiches came and we ate them quickly, mostly so we could leave. Honestly I have very little to say about the food because by the time it had arrived I had already decided that I wouldn't want to come back. Except two things: the bun is not a pretzel bun, and the spiced pickles are disgusting. In other news: their bathrooms are single stalled but there are crude cartoon depictions of characters with prominent sexual characteristics (penises or breasts) on the signs, instead of words. I guess they needed to add an immature and cissexist touch to their subpar restaurant.

Maybe it was just an "at the wrong place/wrong time thing" but I did not feel welcomed or cared for. We sat at the bar on the rooftop and the view was the best part. The bartender was eating her hummus dip and veg she brought to work with her and complained about the heat and lack of cool breeze. The two regulars sitting next to us got up and moved the first chance they got and then gave us glaring looks. If all that wasn't bad enough the food was nothing to write home about and portions small.

The crowd on a Thursday was a bit more mature than I expected compared to last time I was here. Cov seems to be attracting the younger mix of well offs. The service and the food was excellent as in previous visits. The bacon appetizer with bourbon shot you drench the pig with yourself was amazing as always. Lobster quac, solid. Curry chicken, staple. Pork shank, good, but not amazing. Everyone left stuffed, happy and smiling. They make a GREAT Paloma!
(5)Kari E.
Ate a brunch buffet here one day during a winter event they were having. I don't know if they typically do a brunch buffet or not. Anyway, it was pretty good for the price. My only complaint was they could have used something "fresh" like a fruit salad to cut through all the heavy bacon, sausage, french toast, etc. The space is gorgeous and the waiters were ALL H-O-T in their leather aprons. Yum. I'd go back just for that.
(3)Robin G.
bad service not great food
(2)Heather S.
I have been here for dinner and brunch -- both were fantastic! The dinner menu is excellent and the brunch buffet was the best I have ever had. This is a true foodie spot with a cool atmosphere, a great addition to the lake. Anybody on here that says the food isn't good should stick to Applebee's where they belong. Ohhhh and they have a huge space that you can reserve for groups/events at no additional cost - that never happens.
(5)Meg T.
Try their bacon, avacado, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It is worth going just for that sandwich. Every thing I have ordered has been delicious, fresh, and enjoyable. Nice wines, good service. Views look out on Lake Minnetonka. Lucky Wayzata to have this restaurant.
(5)Alissa B.
Not happy with overall experience and didn't love their happy hour. Thought they were trying too hard too move people through the restaurant.

Only giving it a 3 for now. Love the rooftop bar area, hate the chairs... Bartenders and servers are friendly and attentive. I've eaten here 3 times. Tuna burger was huge, pretty good, but not a 10. The dry rub wings are very good, but $10 for 5 is pricey. And, I can't even recall what I had the other visit. Overall, the food is 3 stars. It is a funky dark bar on the main floor. With windows overlooking the patio, with the marina in the background. It has the 'industrial vibe' that all bars have now... that is already getting old. The clientele doesn't seem to go the the extremes like CoV... but it's still Wayzata (ie: has the meat market, look at me vibe). Consider it free entertainment ;))
(3)Laurie O.
Went with high expectations. The menu looked amazing. And the owner has a great reputation in the industry. Was certainly disappointed. We ordered a bunch of apps to share. Pretty hard to mess up shrimp cocktail, the shrimp were way over cooked, and several hadn't had the vein properly removed. No one wants to see that much less eat it. The lobster guacamole, hmmmm. The lobster was delicious but the guacamole itself was bland and lacking salt and acid. The Caesar salad would have been excellent had it not been drowning in dressing. Though the food was disappointing the lakeside view and excellent service will bring me back to try entrees
(2)Inti M.
This was my first time here. My sister and her boyfriend were with me and we really loved it. Parking is vast, seating options are varied, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon. Even though everyone was super busy, our server Fernando at the bar was exceptionally good at getting our drinks. When we went to sit outside, Fernando was very helpful and gave us good tips of what to order before our waitress came. Once she did, we knew what to get. I'd say I would order the lobster gnocchi any day!! It was delicious!
(5)Jenette M.
I've been here 3-4 times and typically just on the deck. I'm not a fan of the tin stools and sterile environment. If you had this beautiful spot overlooking the lake why wouldn't you have a cozy lounge type setting? The service is mediocre and it's tough to get attention if it's busy. I've had the beefy cheek nachos and I thought they were outstanding!!! The place needs more warmth to the decor in my opinion.
(3)Angela A.
Very disappointed with food quality and atmosphere. Food was badly prepared (overcooked fish, tomatoes with stems, rice was dry and crusty). Place was noisy and packed. I don't recommend this place on food quality or atmosphere bases. Way overpriced for the portion size and quality of food.
(1)Shawn A.
Went to 6Smith with a party of 9 - yes 9. They were very accommodating and the service was excellent! For appetizers we had Duck Wontons, popcorn rock shrimp, and 6Smith wings. All were good, the wontons and wings were a particular favorite. Main course was a filet with asparagus - the egg was a nice touch - and roasted corn. All were excellent. I can't wait to go back, and the patio will be outstanding in the spring and summer.
(4)Jori L.
I've been here several times for lunch, happy hour and dinner. The food really is great, much better than nearby overpriced restaurants, and I would say 6smith is a bit more reasonable for what you get. The owner was very open and quick to correct initial quirks or complaints (that new restaurants always have). The COCKTAILS are what make this stand out - their super solid cocktail list offers both classic and "new school" drinks, with modern twists. Worth it. The atmosphere here took a minute to warm up to but now I like it - can be casual or fancy or whatever you want it to be really. Doesn't feel stuffy at all. And the staff are great!!! So nice and helpful!! Soooo much better than nearby alternatives.
(5)T K.
Very nice place. Good food service and atmosphere. We really liked the view sitting outside.

On Saturday evening, May 30, 2015, our daughter and new son-in-law held their wedding dinner and reception at 6smith restaurant. There were 20 family members who had an early dinner and around 85 friends and family members who were present for the reception from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. Beginning with dinner, the food was outstanding. There was a wide range of items on the menu and everyone thought the food was amazing. My wife had the salmon salad and I had their burger and fries. The salmon salad and burger was outstanding. The salmon and burger were tasty and cooked to perfection. The appetizers at the reception consisted of mini beef sliders, crab sliders, blackened fried shrimp, fried duck wontons, chicken wings, deviled eggs with crab and several salads. All the appetizers were tasty and plentiful. The reception was held in a separate dining area which was partitioned from the rest of the restaurant. Excellent privacy. The lake view from the deck was spectacular!! The restaurant wait staff were awesome and they made sure the appetizer platters were full. We would like to thank Sam, the bartender and the head waitress (can't recall her name) who provided outstanding service. These two individuals know how to treat their customers the right way. We can't say enough good things about the great service they provided. The entire wait team also deserves kudos for the great job they did. Dave and Rose from California

While a bit apprehensive given the mixed reviews, my wife and I ventured in. It exceeded expectations on every front. The server was engaging, knowledgeable and attentive. The ambience modern and warm with a terrific view of Lake Minnetonka. The menu was diverse and not overwhelming. Good mix of price points too. The balsamic rib appetizer had a smoky and spicy dry rub that paired well with our bourbon based cocktails. We split the salmon entree and the heirloom tomato salad. The salmon was served on a bed of potato purée, corn and red peppers combined with smoked paprika. The salad was deliciously and creatively mixed with peaches and ricotta. Even the cappuccino at the end was perfectly crafted. Glad we ventured in; it's a new favorite. P.S. - When we complimented the management, they readily acknowledged that their opening was not smooth and resulted in lackluster initial reviews. However, it was evident that they worked out the kinks on our visit tonight.

Minnesotans need to yelp more. The last review for this place was 9/2/14? Seriously? We went here last week. We, meaning my husband, 4yo, and 2yo. First of all, I like the kids menu. It had a few things that are not standard for a kids menu. So that was a welcomed change. My kids loved the food so that was also a good sign. I had the lobster roll and I liked that I could choose a salad over fries as my side for no extra charge. The lobster roll was good. I could tell that the meat was previously frozen, but it's MN so beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Stil the flavor was good. Not too mayo-ey. I would go back because it's close to home and kid-friendly to boot. The view is gorgeous and food is pretty good! Nice job 6Smith.
(3)tami g.
We had dinner here last night, Labor Day. After reading mixed reviews I was cautious , but wanted to give 6Smith a chance. I was really impressed! We sat outside on the first floor for dinner. Our waiter was excellent, and so was the service. We started with oysters on the half shell, presentation was perfect, oysters tasted fresh, slurp, slurp! We ordered the vegetable salad for the two of us to share, we both loved it. I ordered the prime filet cooked medium, it was a prefect medium and sliced like butter and was full of flavor. My husband had the beef cheek nachos and thought they were among the best nachos he's had. The view was fantastic, all together a very nice night!
(4)Mary T.
Beef cheek nachos are amazing!! Chef is friendly and very creative. I love the atmosphere and the location can't be beat.
(4)Blake A.
Only giving 4 stars at this point as I haven't been there for a full meal yet, just drinks and apps. Very impressed so far. My wife and I boated over and while docks weren't available at the time, the dock staff were courteous and apologetic and directed us to two sets of public docks nearby. As of last weekend the docks are now finished and there appears to be ample dockage even for large boats. We were able to easily find two seats at the rooftop bar and thoroughly enjoyed the view both of the lake and the other people there. Wayzata see and be seen people watching at it's BEST! Ray, our bartender was fabulous and definitely knew what he was doing with the drinks - I'm a bit particular about my old-school drinks and so was he...this prompted a few minute conversation about Kazuo Uyeda's "Cocktail Making" book...let's just say he knew his stuff, was quick to make sure we were taken care of and very pleasant. Roof bar has a fine selection of typical and interesting beers on tap and serves a solid menu. We were comped a plate of beef cheek nachos which were probably some of the better nachos I've had. Housemade chips, the right amount of cheese, peppers, onions, and the braised beef was very good. I'd highly recommend at least a cocktail and apps on the rooftop. We had a pleasant experience and are planning to go back this weekend.

Went to have a drink after dinner with friends, laughing having fun on 3rd of July. At 10:30 they said they would not serve our group! Our first time visiting 6 Smith which does not favor friends having a good time! Never would go back...offensive service!"
(1)Mike B.
Service was less than attentive. No server knew which dish went to which person in the bar. Tried watching the Twins game and they kept changing it to th 4th channel covering golf. This place won't last, go elsewhere. Even JPs menu can't save this wreck.
(2)Nadir K.
Great location, decore, and food. Had the ribeye. All steaks are usda prime, something they are proud of. The steak wasn't the best, but deffinately good. I'd like to try the seafood as well, so I hope to go back. Steak was in the 7 out of 10 range. Parking is difficult and limited. Very expensive, but what do you expect for Wayzata Bay?! Service was fairly slow, but I was in a large group and the place was busy, so not sure if that's a one time thing...
(3)Rachel R.
High hopes for 6 smith but somewhat disappointing dinner. We sat outside and our table rocked back and forth. We wanted to remedy the situation but server was so busy we couldn't catch his attention. Cons: -Took the waiter a long time to greet us and get drink orders. -Wait staff on the deck are sloppily dressed in ill fitting thin t shirts and dirty white shorts/pants. For such a fine restaurant surprised to see such sloppy uniforms. -calamari but it was undercooked and doughy. - My husbands filet was very good but very very raw. He ordered it cooked medium. - Eclair sundae for dessert consisted of 3 completely melted scoops of ice cream between two eclairs. -served entree during appetizer course. Food came out too fast but servers were very slow. - diet coke served in lowball glass and only refilled once. -wish there was an option for regular hamburger. Only thing that looked like hamburger on menu was venison. yuck. - wish there was a salmon entree -entrance was bizarre. small grey door hidden in the side of the lobby. really strange. Pro: -scuna bay salmon/avocado appetizer, delicious -Lobster roll had lots of good lobster but drowning in sauce. Roll itself was very good. - My husbands filet was very good but very very raw - Both the calamari and the filet were taken off the check. We will probably try it one more time. But fear it will die the same death as north coast.

I'm just happy to get a new restaurant in Wayzata. They are still working out their routine (it took almost an hour to get our entrees) but much of the food we tried was very good. Roasted corn elote. Kernels nicely toasted and caramelized on the edges. Cut off the cob so you don't have to get gooey mayo and cheese all over your face. Tomato mozzarella salad. Ripe, juicy tomatoes and nice tangy balsamic. Polenta cake. Somewhat crisp on the outside, soft and silky inside. Served on bed of greens. It was fine. Kids salmon with "vegetables". Really impressed. Perfectly crispy edges. Was expecting boring veggie accompaniment like steamed broccoli, but instead they got beautifully roasted carrots and onions. The french fries were crisp and substantial. Wish I could order for myself. [UPDATE- we came back and ordered this again, but the second time the salmon was very small and the veggies didn't come out until the end of the meal. So, who knows?] Lobster cake. Good. Not much lobster and not too memorable. But served with some lovely micro greens. Scallops. Hm. This one was way off. Gigantic cold peeled tomato served on top of now room temp scallops. Wish I had taken a picture of it. Made no sense at all.
(3)Nick S.
good service, even better food!
(5)Kimberly K.
Awesome ambiance w/ rooftop looking out onto the lake. Every seating area has great views. super friendly & attentive staff. Lots of meat & seafood options. Great tap beer choices. Smoked asparagus was yummy! Clientele feels upscale but you're fine dressing casually. Highly recommend this very welcomed new addition to wayzata!

Enjoyed a nice dinner at 6Smith last week. Restaurant was pretty quiet at dinner time mid week in January. Service was wonderful. Food was delicious. Prices being a bit high will keep this on our special occasion restaurant list.
(4)Damon S.
Food was good. Drinks are great. But our server Katie was awesome!! Such a great personality!! Will come back just for her.
(4)Lori V.
Last week we were here with a party of 14 and the service and food was great. Tonight we came in for some lobster rolls - let me just say the food is very good here but the service was horrible tonight. The lobster rolls came out and we asked where our soup and wine might be hiding. oooops... So the chowder came out, which was delicious. The waitress insisted on taking away my husband's lobster roll while he had soup (I hung on to mine ). Once we were done with soup, we had to ask for the heirloom tomato salad (another great dish). It finally shows up, my husband finishes it, I'm done with my lobster roll and now we're wondering where his lobster roll is. Not sure if this was a kitchen issue or waitress issue (I suspect the latter). I'm still giving this place 4 stars because the manager, Kim, apologized and comp'd our meal (which was not necessary). All the other tables around us seemed to be getting their food with no problems. Hoping we just hit a bad service spot.
(4)Jessica S.
This was our second time here. Food was good as it had been the first time, we shared a bunch of small plates. What was irritating was that we had made a reservation for 2 for 645. We showed up at 640 and checked in, at which time we were told we would have to wait 10 more minutes. The high school aged hostess clearly was overwhelmed by the dinner rush and seemed frazzled. After waiting 20 min with no promise of a table, one of the other ?hosts approached us and asked if we'd been helped. Turns out the high school hostess had been seating all the 7 pm reservations before us, despite the fact that we'd been standing right next to the hostess booth. The other host was very apologetic and seated us, but not before my cohort pointed this out to the negligent hostess. She was unapologetic and brushed us aside. Bottom line, food is good but the front of the house sucks.

Great addition to Lake Minnetonka waterfront dining. You cannot beat the lake views from both the roof top and patio. The drink menu is impressive. I love the old school vs. new school drinks (spoiler alert, the new school drinks are just fruitier.) This place is worth a visit just for the views and the drinks. I went with a large group of foodies and ordered several apps and different entrees, and several drinks. Everything was delicious. The prices are not cheap, but by no means is it overpriced for the location either.

Went to 6 Smith on Friday with my sister and her husband. For being a new and upscale restaurant, it It was a pretty bad customer experience from the beginning. The entrance smelled like rotten water/sewage, as did the upstairs staircase. We had a bit of a wait for dinner, so we went up to the bar to get the lobster/guac. We asked for veggies to dip instead of chips and the bartender told us he didn't have that type of food in the upstairs kitchen. We then moved on the patio for dinner which was really pretty. Our waitress didn't know her wines and when we asked for recommendations, she had no idea and told us she never had them. We ended up skipping ordering our entree and just got a salad and left. We also never received napkins, even though we asked the bus boy...and had to ask for our silverware.

Beautiful Sunday evening--we were lucky enough to snag a seat on the patio. We started with a cocktail, and got the "bacon and bourbon" appetizer. I believe it was really pork belly, but bottom line it was delicious, and we ate every last bite. I got the fat burger, my husband got the pork shank. Both were perfection, along with our Brussels sprouts and asparagus side dishes. I got the sweet potato and beet French fries; I don't know how they do it, but those are some delicious fries! Due to a slight mixup in the order which did not bother us in the least, they brought a slice of mud pie on the house. They are not "phoning in" that pie--I am sure the caramel and fudge sauces poured on it are house made and it was a wonderful end to a wonderful meal. I will add that portions are generous (esp. the pie!) so we will get to enjoy our leftovers. Service was professional, attentive and friendly. Oh, and I appreciate that they take reservations! Highly recommended! One more bonus: after dinner it is nice to walk along the lake!

Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Amazing decor. Amazing staff. Amazing owners. Done and done, I'm a customer for life. The polenta dish is incredibly delicious! I would eat the mushroom burger everyday if I could. I love that they have so many vegetarian friendly options, which is hard to find in Minnesota. Don't even get me started on the desserts! I recommend ordering one of each for the table. They'll all be gone in 5 minutes or less. Customer for life, yes indeed!

I went there for lunch and ordered the tuna burger (asked for rare) and the Dreme drink. I appreciate the effort they are trying to put in to make a good menu, but when the burger came out, the tuna burger patty was giving off a rotting smell. That means, either the quality of the fish they were using was really really bad or their method to store fish was inadequate. Pickled ginger was just namesake on the side. The fries were really really awesome, they might have been of the double fried type, I think. The Dreme drink was way too acerbic and acidic, but it was not too sugary so that was nice. The wait staff was absolutely awesome. 5 stars to them. I would go back there again but I am hoping that they resolve any minor kinks in their food by taking feedback from reviews like these and improving iteratively over time.

I have been to 6Smith a number of times now and always had a great experience. A couple memorable comments. A good friend planned a surprise birthday party and they reserved a private dining space. The service, food, drinks and entire experience made it one of the best birthdays of my life. Second, I just made it a priority to try the "Fat Pants Friday" special for a 4,000 calorie burger that had 3 beef patties, hot dogs, roasted jalapenos, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, bacon and held together with glazed donuts. (Note: Every week is a different special) I also think they have a great bar program. If you like Moscow Mules they have a good one. Looking around I know they have some nice private dining spaces. The 2nd floor outdoor space that looks out over Lake Minnetonka is great. A great addition to the Wayzata area.

I had a wonderful, impromptu lunch 6Smith today. This was not my first time at 6Smith and it won't be my last. Most guests were out on the patio, but I chose to stay cool inside at the bar. Rochelle (bartender) was fun and knows how properly to pour a good Sawtooth. That was a new beer for me, and I loved it! The calamari was very tasty, and I was really pleased by the reuben with kimchee, which Rochelle had recommended. The kimchee was sweet, neither too spicy nor sour, so the flavors really worked well together! The fries were surprisingly good as well. They came with mayonnaise infused with truffle oil. I'd prefer just a hint of the truffle, and so as an alternative Steve (manager) offered Béarnaise sauce instead. Perfect! Whenever I want to spoil myself gastronomically and know that the service will be on point, 6Smith is one of my top choices in the West Metro. I'll be back!

My wife and I had drinks and sandwiches with french fries on the roof top. The view was great, our waitress was great and so were the sandwiches, unfortunately both our french fries servings were disappointing: they were burned and so broken up that the longest piece was shorter than 1/2 inch. The waitress replaced then but it didn't do much for our meal experience.

Had a wonderful dinner last night celebrating with colleagues from out of town. While we couldn't secure a table near the water, our table was in the back and quiet and ended up being ideal for our gathering. Our server couldn't have been better. Excellent suggestions, on top of everything, always there when we needed her but never when we didn't. When we mentioned that three of us don't drink she made perfect recommendations for the mocktails rather than the typical look of disappointment. That is huge for us! Everyone enjoyed their beverages. We shared a bunch of appetizers, the bacon, beef cheek nachos and oysters were fantastic. The entrees were also great. The steaks were solid, the brick chicken was perfectly moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Even though we were mostly full, our server recommended we share the mud pie. Each of us had 3-4 bites and it was an excellent way to top off the dinner. Great experience- we'll be back and bring more friends!

First time here - restaurant week menu was fantastic! $10 for 2 course lunch that was more than enough food. Had the black shrimp which was tasty;)

Trendy , a drink list that screams mixology, on the lake and with beautiful people-how can you go wrong? After a very awkward start, our experience got better...the alcohol probably didn't hurt. The oysters were fresh and delicious. I would recommend the scallops for an entree-perfectly cooked and seasoned, which is tough to pull off. For you boozers and fellow gin drinkers, the Fountain of Youth is a good choice. The short rib long bone was good, but was about 5-6 big bites of meat, which at $39 is a tough sell. For a better, meatier version that will knock your socks off, go to Butcher and the Boar. For far as the awkardness goes, let's just say that we started with one server and quickly were assigned/asked for another. 6 Smith has a big name behind it so expectations are high. They are clearly working out the kinks as we had to have a signature drink remade and a menu item, the churassco skirt steak, had apparently already been removed by the chef. Any new restaurant opening is always challenging, fraught with changes so I would go back and give it another go once management, bar and service staff have some more battle scars.

North Shore has a new gem on the lake, both inside and out. Amazing atmosphere and menu, plus great staff. Multiple levels, amazing views, and a legitimate steak kingpin. We visited with a lot of the staff and were impressed with the level of research that was done on the menu and specifically their steak. We went for lunch and sampled several small plates . Lobster Guacamole, Beef Cheek Nachos, Sweet Beet Fries, Lobster Spring Rolls-all delicious and flavorful. I had the tuna burger which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. My don had the steak sandwich and he is lucky he has been working out as I wanted to fight him for it the second it came to the table. Lots of great good here but the steak is incredible. The steak sandwich is huge. It comes on a delicious roll and has these candy like caramelized onions on it that complete the trifecta of ingredients. We checked out the upper deck patio and was amazed by the view and cocktail potential. Main level patio feels like you are in Florida, and interior seating very favorable. I'm going back in two days for lunch, sampling some brews and getting that steak sandwich.
