Food was excellent, service was excellent, our server Jamie Vanasse was great, she knew all the foods. I had one of the specials the 2 sirloin tips - huge, each topped with a crab cake, brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes and a sauce to die for I just can't remember what it was béarnaise I think. It was pricy but worth every penny, there was enough there for 2 meals. Hubby had the ribs, garlic mash and Brussel sprouts and we both agree they were excellent. Would we go again, if we are in the area? Yes in a heartbeat. If we are you should go, you don't know what your missing.

Been to the Chop House a few times: PRO's: Nice menu for Bemidji area. Ideal bar set up w/ TV's. I haven't been disappointed w/ the food....last time out tried the Macadamia Walleye and it was outstanding! Crusted and lobster cream was icing on the cake. This dish was extremely good. Nice thick walleye cut too. CON's: Dining room w/ the open ceiling can be very loud. The male waiter staff/Manager on duty...wearing jeans and Abercrombie type shirts??? Seriously? Jeans is fine...but would it hurt to dress something so your customers know you work there? A nice Polo with a chop house logo would be ideal. I had the manager on duty approach our table, asking how was our meal...and I thought "Who the heck are you"? Four 1/2 Stars--for Bemidji. Nice Work.

Excellent variety of food & seafood & burgers & great quick attentive service. Priciest place in the area! But food is worth it!

What an enjoyable meal. Sushi was abundant and nicely done. The walleye cakes are superb and exemplify Minnesota. Macadamia walleye was wonderful. The blueberry rhubarb crisp topped the meal off with a bang. Great service and nice atmosphere too.

Round 2 - OMG macadamia walleye. Walleye cooked to perfection and a very light, unique flavor. Sushi is soo gooood! Walleye cake are a nice MN twist.

i have to admit- im a total food snob. I'm always critical and wary of eating out when i leave the "big city" to visit my parent's. yeah, i'll just come out and say it, this place is really. freakin. good. we had sushi as an appetizer and it was fresh and very well prepared. everything we ate was that way. our server was a total sweetie, and didn't roll her eyes when i asked her to find out where they get their seafood... (coastal seafood. good pick) yup- im THAT person. haha! they also make a really mean mojito! the prices were very reasonable for the quality that was given, and for all that food, no one picked their jaws off the floor when the bill came. im very impressed and will be back.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner for the second time and it was packed! Waited 15 minutes for a table which we thought the wait would have been at least double that time. We both are Ribeye steak lovers so of course we both ordered their Ribeye and although it was cooked Medium (we always order Rare to Medium-Rate) it still was bursting with great flavor! The Bacon Brussels were a perfect combination to the steak. I also recommend the Raspberry Basil Margarita! A must stop if your in the area!!!

I'm so glad Bemidji opened another restaurant. I personally thought this place was great! Lots of unique options and great happy hour specials. It's a very busy place so not a ton of privacy but the food was excellent! My favorites so far are the Big Bang rolls and the campfire s'mores. I will definitely come back. :)

I've been here a couple of times and I mostly like it. The service is always good. They have a good draft beer selection. The menu is unique - several things on there that you don't normally see on menus. And the food is generally pretty good. I do, however, think they are overpriced. For what you get, it just costs too much. We go during happy hour and really enjoy it - usually 2 for 1 beers and half price apps. But outside of happy hour I just don't see the food worth the high price.

We have been here 5 times already.. The food is very good. Shrimp tacos are a need to try, just great. The chopped steak is to die for.. So moist and tasty..The Brussel sprouts are the best I have ever had. Sushi is very, very good..Sushi is our main reason for going. But today, they had a couple of the sushi orders done wrong, even though they said they were right. In saying this whatever they were, they were very good. There was only one I did not like as much as all the others, and that was one that had been made wrong. Crunch & spice tuna roll, it was suppose to have cucumbers and crunchy flakes and it had neither one, it was very gummy. The lava roll went back to the kitchen and still was not the lava when it came back, they were making their california instead of their lava. Hey, your in luck though, if you dont know their sushi. The ribs are very good. Which takes us to the hamburgers the meat is so tasty but then there is the hard, dry buns. Not a fan,. The service today was an off day..apps came out last, had to ask for the sushi plates and we hardly saw the waitress so drink refills, forget it. This was the first time for this and I hope it will not be a habit because we really like coming here.

It's nice to have restaurants in the area that aren't chains and offer a menu that is more authentic and chop house does that. It's a bit pricey but it's par for the course. Overall I was satisfied with my meal but do have a few comments. I had salmon cakes and while they tasted good it was mostly breading and rice fillers with a little salmon. My lemonchilo martini was good and beer was priced right. The ambiance is so so. I like the big u shaped bar in the center but It's too open and noisy otherwise. My overall impression is good and will return but they've got to do something about their water. It's HORRIBLE !! When they're charging what they do I expect that my water should taste good and not like my grandmas well water. I can't believe a place of this caliber even serves such bad tasting wAter. An RO unit is an easy fix. Look forward to my next visit because there were a lot of selections on the menu that I want to try.

This was the 2nd time we have eaten here. New place where the old 71 bar used to be. 1st, the place is loud! The set up is not intimate or private. The tables and chairs are shoved in there. The place is very dark, with low lightening and dark furnishings. I think they could lighten it up quite a bit!! Love the open kitchen, and bar area. They don't have specials. Never. Not a fan of that? why? Our servers ea time never offered us different options, ie salads,or apps. Our drinks eat time took at LEAST 15 mins to arrive. Service was slow the first time, and better the 2nd. I had the sirloin the first time and it was to DIE for. hubby had the rib eye, also great. 2nd time I had the macadamia crusted walleye, but it really wasn't a crust? it was more a sauce? it was great though. hubby had the cabernet steak, and he said it was ok. About like a pot roast. I ordered a house salad both times, and I HATE the bowls!! it's sloped, and everything goes to the bottom, when you try to mix it up it falls out of the lower front of the bowl. Please get new salad bowls!!! The open bathroom doors by the entrance??!! TACKY!!! put a door on them!! yikes. Overall the building was planned very poorly, the overall set up. Prices are also overpriced!! Right now I think people are loving the new place, and good food. But I wonder if the pricing will drive people off in the long run?

Ate at this restaurant in a recent trip to Bemidji and felt like they were doing everything right. From some of the other reviews, it seems they had problems with noise and inconsistency in their food quality. I didn't notice issues with the noise, but it wasn't extremely busy when we were there. As for the food, it seems every part of every dish is made in-house, right down to the ranch dressing and ketchup. Everything I ate was delicious, and I sampled 4 appetizers, 2 soups, and the chicken sandwich (grilled in duck fat!!!) They were all inventive dishes done well. Servers were friendly and efficient. Go from 3-6pm for 2-for-1 drinks and half price apps.

We have been here many times and generally are very happy to have a new restaurant with a diverse menu more like a fine dining restaurant in the cities. The noise and layout are unfortunate, but they now allow reservations and the booths are less noisey - unless someone is really loud at the bar. Our biggest issue was that my husband's's rib eyes would always come way too well done (ordered medium rare), but after sending a couple back and talking to the owner (very nice), he has had great steaks since. Last Friday night I had one of the best salmon preparations ever (their special) and he had the best steak yet. Our servers have always been attentive and friendly. Do wish they'd change the wine glasses - but that's not a big deal.

Small selection of dinner items but great food and amazing sushi! Service is alright but in a brand new place you can't expect perfection over night

man at table to our right had a red center in pork chop and sent it back, while his wife had fork cutting tender brisket. Man at table to our left called manager over to praise the chef and everything about the place. My wife had mediocre shrimp linguini and I had the worst cut of meat ever. Gristle and fat with hardly any chewable meat in my brisket. So, the food is inconsistent. The wait staff and manger could not be nicer. Clean, well lit and noisy from the bar area across the room divider. Better than average overall for a Bemidji restaurant. I hope/think the management will straighten out the inconsistent food quality, but the noise level I think is there to stay. The tables were not that close together. I've seen worse.
