A couple weeks ago we stayed at this B&B. Really interesting decor from all over Asia. The common spaces are filled to the brim with paintings, sculptures, crafts, tapestries. The owner has done lots of traveling and sells trinkets like necklaces and purses she brought back with her. The outdoor spaces are really beautiful, with lots to look at: gazebos, koi ponds, porch seating, etc. The owner seems very nice, and made a great breakfast for us. She said she was up at 430am to make it! Coffee and tea are available early. She rings the gong before breakfast is served. Breakfast for us was juice, muffins, baked grapefruit, homemade cinnamon crumble with homemade ice cream, chicken sausage with an egg on top of quinoa, and it was all delicious! Our room (Chang Mai) was very nice, with a spacious bed, balcony, separate bathroom, whirlpool tub (stocked with bath salts and soaps) small fridge, radio/CD player. The owner also has a cheese plate and bottle of wine ready for you when you arrive! Overall I was very impressed and would definitely return. The only thing that we noticed was perhaps different than some other places we have stayed is the lack of a tv in the room. Totally a minor detail, I know, since we have Stillwater to explore while there and a tv is a bit unnecessary. We just don't have cable so a little tv watching on vacation is like our guilty pleasure. :)

This b&b took us on a whim because they had one room available at 9:00 pm on a Saturday night. Mike, was who greeted us with a bottle of wine, crackers, cheese and grapes upon arrival. We stayed in the Rangoon room with a queen bed, jacuzzi tub and neat little bathroom. Bed was very firm, but surprisingly comfy! Temperature was great. Not too hot or too cold. Just right. We slept with just a sheet all night. The room was quite and clean. We have already made arrangements to stay again next month. We live 2 hours away and would come back in a heartbeat!

We had never done the B&B thing before, and I'm so glad that our first experience was here. It's a beautiful Victorian with lovely decor and grounds. We stayed in the Rangoon room, which is smaller than the others, but very nice. (Though not recommended for tall people - the bed is 2" shorter than a standard queen. The BF slept diagonally.) They provide wine, fruit, cheese and home-baked crackers on arrival, in addition to the mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. I believe each room has a whirlpool tub. We slept through breakfast, but the fruit and scones that Rita kept out for us were excellent, and she's just a delightful woman to talk with. We were sorry that we were only there for one night - it was hard to leave.

My husband and I chose The Elephant Walk for our wedding night destination. The experience can only be described as magical. This is not the traditional Victorian, flowery, china teacup bed & breakfast, which is a huge reason why we chose it. (We're not really Victorian, flowery kinds of people.) The house is decorated with artifacts from all over the world, specifically the Far East. The proprietor spent years in diplomatic service around the world, and the whole place is filled with the atmosphere of the places she visited. There are fun things to talk about in every corner. We stayed in the largest suite, called the Cadiz Garden Suite. It's enormous, with a gorgeous four-poster bed and canopy, huge private rooftop garden, whirlpool tub, fireplace, and sitting area. It was exactly the retreat we needed after the whirlwind of our wedding! We were greeted with a basket of fruit, pistachios, homemade crackers, some lovely cheeses, and a bottle of wine. There were board games available for our use, which delighted us, as we absolutely love to play games. In the morning after a soak in the whirlpool tub, we played Yahtzee, while sipping tea that had been delivered to our door. Breakfast was a fun experience! The owner of the place had some wonderful stories for us, and a few of the other guests were repeat customers. I can see why this place attracts a following, honestly. The meal was four courses, and we were absolutely stuffed when we left! We can't afford to make The Elephant Walk a regular event in our lives, but we've often talked of saving up a little cash to go back. It was an unparalleled experience, which is exactly what you want for your wedding night.
