Always great for breakfast. I have made Joseph's part of my regular rotation. Try the French Toast with the Ham steak. Very few restaurants serve the big old slab of Ham anymore. Way to go, Transfats and cholesterol be dammed!! I want my food to taste good

Service was good, food is bland and over priced for what you get. My son ordered grilled cheese and we had to return it, it was 2 pieces of thin old white bread with what looked like one slice of velveta cheese microwaved. Lumberjack burger was ok. Very plain old style cafe. Pies are fresh and good.

Joseph's Family Restaurant is a Stillwater eatery that locals adore. Best known for pie, senior specials and standard American comfort food. -Price: $7-$10 (on average & depends on time of day) -Parking: Surface lot with ample parking available -Ambiance: Perkins meets your grandparents suburban home designed in the mid 80's -What To Order: Breakfast Food, Soup, Appetizers & Pie -What NOT to Order: Ribs & any foods considered "exotic" for the Minnesota palate i.e; Asian, Southern & Latin inspire dishes Service: Friendly & a slightly slow -Typical Crowd: Seniors & Families -Miscellaneous: Check the restaurants Facebook page for daily specials and Sign up for the Birthday Club = FREE PIE!!! Summary: Joseph's is a place I stick to for pie and a place that your grandparents will love based on menu items & price. Don't go out of your way to dine here unless your trying to see how many freebies you can get on your birthday.

The BEST French toast ever!!!! Perfectly sweet and cinnamon-y. I also love the homey atmosphere and friendly people. If you're not in the mood for brunch food, the pies are also amazing! My favorite is the rhubarb one with sugar cookie crust. Joseph's will always be a restaurant near and dear to my heart.

This was officially my last visit, The server was young and sincere so I could not be upset with her, nor wanted to complain but the fact that we came in off an advertisement in the local paper for $7.99 hamburgers and Kids Eat Free I got pretty upset when we went to pay the owner says "you cant have more that one special" Are you kidding me??? You cheep ass! He gave me that look like I should know better. Needless to say, the free slice of pie coupon I received for doing this initial check-in on yelp when I got there, YEA, couldn't use that one either! Got home to look at the ad again to see if I was reading something wrong and there was no small print no exclusions, Just burgers for $7.99 and Kids Eat Free Mon and Tues. Like I said, the server was sweet and tried hard, but since I'm on a rant I will continue to say that our waters were empty, we did not have enough napkins, not enough check backs, fries were cold, burgers were well chard, and we ordered apple pie ala-mode warm, and the pie was ice cold and the ice cream was runny, So my blood was boiling a bit before I went to the register, but did not want to ruin a good persons day by complaining to her. Last Time! Good Bye

I love this place! They have great pies so it's definitely recommended to order a slice or whole pie. The macadamia cream pie is to die for. They have great weekly specials and you can find coupons from time to time which brings us in. They are known for their burgers also.

This was our first visit...but DEFINITELY not our last! Since it was so gorgeous yesterday, The Man and I decided to ride the motorcycle out to Stillwater. He voted for BWW, I voted him down. I didn't feel like wading through a chain menu. So we turned to Yelp and saw Joseph's. Bingo. We were greeted politely and shown to a table right away. The Man muttered nervously "I feel so young!" The average age of the current patrons was about...70. Noise level was definitely not going to be a problem! Our server, Kathy, was very friendly, reeled off an entire list of specials not on the menu, and grabbed out waters pronto. She knew everything there was to know about the food, answered our questions and made some recommendations. I ordered the Mandarin Orange salad, The Man ordered a Spicy Chicken Sandwich that was not on the menu, but came highly recommended per Kathy. My salad was GINORMOUS and pretty dang tasty. Came with a sort of soft pretzel breadstick. The Man thouroughly enjoyed his Spicy Chicken (which was actually pretty mild according to him, but tasty nonetheless.) The highlight of the meal though, was the Strawberry Pie. OMG, that pie! I will be making return trips (and many!!) just for some more of that pie! Whole and half strawberries covered in a light glaze, in a delicious and flaky crust, topped with perfectly sweetened real whipped cream. I'm probably going to have dreams involving that pie. The other highlight was our server- Kathy. She knew her stuff, was on top of waters and clearing dishes, and super friendly. When she found out it was our first visit, she jumped right in and steered us toward some uber delicious food! As I was getting onto the bike, she even came trotting out into the parking lot to hand me my sunglasses that I had left in the booth! When we go back, we'll definitely ask to sit in Kathy's section!

Ordered the coconut chicken salad. LOTS of lettuce, half a hard boiled egg, one slice of cucumber and 5 tiny pieces of chicken. Very disappointed. Don't bother.

We single handedly dragged down the average age of the clientele in this joint by about 25 years just by walking in the door. But if I've learned anything about my elders, it's that they're very particular and they're really stingy, so the fact that this place was crawling with blue-haired ladies and doddering old men only made me feel self-conscious for about four seconds because I too am both particular AND stingy. I also knit, so I'm well on my way to becoming a blue-haired old lady. Joseph's is shabby but comfortable. The price tag was reasonable. And when I ordered my eggs over-medium, they actually came to the table over-medium. Not over-easy. Not fried and rubbery. They were real, honest-to-goodness cooked over-medium eggs and I was in heaven. But it was the hash browns that were the real star of the meal. Most restaurants struggle with their hash brown preparation, but not Joseph's! These hash browns were crispy on the outside (but not burnt) and warm and chewy in the middle (but not raw) and I can think of a lot of places that could take some lessons from Joseph on how to accomplish the seemingly impossible feat of creating the perfect plate of greezy hash browns.

The food was decent and what you would expect. The quantity of food was very slim for the price especially with this being a family restaurant. I had more toast on my plate than the main ingredients of eggs and corned beef hash. I had the daily weekday special to keep cost down. On the normal menu a plain cheese omelette starts at 8.99. .50 an ingredient after that. The server was very nice and kind and genuinely concerned when I mentioned that the prices seemed high to me. The slice of apple pie I had was definitely homemade and good.

Great service, amazing pie. My husband and I have bought pie here for carry-out, and have eaten here once for brunch. Id say their breakfast food is what you'd expect, nothing too overly fancy, but standard and delicious in a greasy-spoon kind of way. Their Belgian waffles are top notch in my opinion!

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. What a wide variety of ages and groups - everything from families with highchairs to a group of older gentlemen at the counter whom I believe are probably there most Saturdays. Hubs had the smoked pork chops and eggs. He ordered the eggs basted and was taken back when the waitress asked - soft, medium or hard basted...most servers don't seem to know that basted is a way to do eggs. I had the ham and cheese roll, which is similar to an omelet with lots of smokey, diced ham along with a side of delicious hash browns. We had our own coffee pot on the table, so refills we extremely prompt and the server checked several times to make sure that our pot still had coffee. PS - they were filling the pie case and they all looked wonderful making me wish we were there later to have a piece.

Why go to a chain like Perkins when you can hit something locally owned? I only go here for breakfast (just like I only go to Perkins for breakfast) and the food is always good, middle American stuff. Eggs done right. Decent pancakes. Crunchy-on-the-outside hash browns. So-so coffee. I can add to my review after this weekend. Went to two gatherings where hostesses in a time crunch served pies purchased from Joseph's--and the pies were delicious! One served a caramel chocolate pie.The caramel really tasted buttery and caramel-y, and the chocolate wasn't just brown colored whipped stuff. The other served a creamy rhubarb pie with a cookie crust. It was tangy and flavorful with a great fresh rhubarb taste. So many restaurants serve pies that taste all the same, bland and sugary, or topped with non-dairy whipped topping, yecch! Not Joseph's! I am a pie snob and I was really impressed with how distinctive, fresh and flavorful their pies were. Homemade crust, too, not one of those frozen pressed jobs in the foil pan.

Today I enjoyed the great company of my Mom and she treated me to Lunch to boot! Thanks Mom! So we've been coming to Joseph's forever. Yes, I mean FOREVER! Todays' lunch destination was my choice and I was looking forward to the comfort of Josephs and the friendly staff - which was all there. My Mom recommended that I have the Chicken Salad and fruit. Perfect selection given that I LOVE chicken salad. I enjoyed the original Joseph recipe (been made for 30 years). It was delicious, however, for a mere quarter cup of chicken salad and some fruit I thought ten bucks was really pushing it - - I felt a bit cheated, given that my Mom who yes is perfect and always correct and truthful stated prior to ordering was a very large portion....MOM what, where's the rest of my chicken salad......? Anyway, I do appreciate how nice our waitress was, but please next time more of your delicious chicken salad please...

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Stillwater! I've been going here since I was a little girl. When I go there for breakfast I can never decide if I want the Belgian Waffle with the always deliciously fresh strawberries (when in season) and whipped cream, or pancakes with the same topping, or my all-time favorite french toast! Yum yum! Usually since I'm only in town for a few days every few months, I end up going almost every morning for breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) or at least for brunch! The selections for lunch and dinner are a bit more limited for me as I'm a vegetarian. They do have a pretty OK veggie burger (Boca) which is best with fried onions on top with fries. I'm glad to have at least one vegetarian option for my meal...because salads just don't count as a whole meal. Another brunch/lunch/snack/dinner...and admittedly, sometimes breakfast, must are the cheese curds - so awesome! Sometimes they have delicious cupcakes but some guy named Matthew buys them all up whenever he goes in (his girlfriend loves them apparently), so they're usually out for anyone else to try. Of course you can never go wrong with any flavor of their vast selection of award-winning cheesecakes! Service is always a joy when Maria, Meghan, or Sharon are waiting on you! I'm sure there are other great servers there but they're my favorites! Ask if you can be seated in their section next time you go on... and be sure to leave HUGE tips!

I've heard talk about this place for quite some time and my wife and I finally stopped in the other night. It was very good. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was cozy in a small town dinner kind of way. The "10% off coupon for checking in on yelp" had never been heard of by our waiter or any of the staff. They honored it anyway though.

Hubby and I stopped by on a Saturday to get some breakfast. Nice ambiance. A lot of families and older folks:) Our breakfast was good, we both ordered a skillet. Menu was very simliar to a Perkins or Embers - offering a little bit of everything. Staff was friendly:) Would stop again if I was in the area.

There are many restaurants to choose from in Stillwater. However, Joseph's has much better food and service than many of them. I picked a chicken salad wrap with a fruit cup for lunch. Then I finished it off with a piece of caramel chocolate surprise pie. The pie deserves an award! I am a true foodie and am not a pie eater (normally) so this really shows how great is was!
