You're a fool not to join the whiskey club. Second Tuesday of every month 8s a new one to test. After you make the club the rewards are special. Ask Paulie if you show up today as she's been fully trained by yours truely.

I'm not giving only one star because probably a lot of the service issues were due to inexperienced server (hopefully he was) and a very busy, understaffed holiday day with beautiful weather. The service was very slow, waiter had no idea what the Soup du Jour was that day, was very slow, waited 20 minutes to tell us that what two of us ordered was all gone. Other customers complained about timing and cold food. Our food was mostly just ok. My appetizer and soup of the day (I took a chance on unknown soup) were actually better than the wraps and sandwiches the other 4 people in our party got. Mediocre food and poor service that hopefully is better when not so busy.

Meh. Came here on Father's Day with my Pops, and he got a free beer! I thought that was a nice touch. Menu is standard sandwiches and what not. The taste is average. My beer (and my dad's) came in warm glasses. I don't want to sound like a prick, but come on, frosted glasses really make a difference. Service was friendly. The views are great.

Interesting how the reviews are mostly negative here. My experience was very good. First time here. We walk up to hostess stand and ask for table, she informs us the kitchen is backed up and food taking up to 45 min. Seemed like an odd greeting. I noticed the 2 people in front of us left when told how long food was taking. Patio is nice, right on the river. They had live entertainment. Two guys doing Beatles, Neil Young covers. They were fine...vocals not the greatest but that's the crutch of most free live entertainment. We enjoyed them though. Started off with wings and a Bloody Mary. Bloody was fantastic with a slice of jalapeño bacon. I had a steak salad and hubs had cobb salad. Both were excellent. Our server Lilly was one of the best servers I've had in a long time. She was super friendly, funny and very knowledgable about the menu and hotel. To top it off our food only took 15 minutes. Management needs to talk to servers because while trying to be honest, they are losing customers.

We have been there in the past and it was OK (3 stars), but last time was our last time. We got there early to get a good spot for the musicians. It wasn't very crowded. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to notice us, another 15 before she got around to taking our food order, and 40 minutes to get our food. We ordered burgers, not a big deal. In that time, another couple was seated, fed and left, and two others that arrived after we did got their food and were eating. I found the waitress and told her we are both diabetic and she said she would bring us something which of course never materialized. Eventually, a cook brought out our plates which were missing things like pickles, chips. Never again.

I am surprised to see 1-star reviews of Charlie's. I went there on Memorial Day and a had a great time with friends and family. Of all the options available in the area, we picked Charlie's because the Irish have the same colors on their flag as us Indians do. I'm kidding, that's not why we chose Charlie's. It was closer to where we parked our car and wanted to grab a drink (Jameson) and some appetizers before our "long drive" back to St. Paul. The place inside is huge and retains the original architecture (very old). We wanted to sit on the patio but it was a typical summer day in Minnesota with 50F weather and light winds of 15 mph. I ordered a Manhattan with Jameson and the friends ordered the Jameson with ginger ale, half and half (Guiness and Harp) and Irish toddy. The onion rings, french fries and sweet potato fries were a delicious. The garlic penne pasta was slightly bland but was tasty. There was free pop corn from the machine at the bar. The portions were huge and the prices were easy on the wallet. Our waitress, Liz, was very friendly and checked on us many times throughout.

Went on a business dinner here to eat in the restaurant connected to Charlie's Pub and the food was just ok and the service was TERRIBLE! NEVER will I go back to dine here. I am sure it's fine for drinks outside, but do not dine inside. Service was so slow and the waitress would try to run from our table when she went by. Three plus hours later we finally were done with dinner. Just ridiculous.

My wife an I have stopped here a few times. Never have we been impressed. We stopped today for happy hour. Min of 5 different servers were just standing around when lots of things needed to be cleaned. 2 bartenders were not wearing the same shirts as the rest of the staff. For the area this place is very grimmie. They need to raise there stands a lot.

In Stillwater, the quality of food and service seems to be in inverse proportion to the distance from the St. Croix River. Charlie's is very close to the river.

Wish I would have read the reviews before eating here. It's $90 I could have just tossed out the window. Labor Day Sunday, one server working the patio. When we arrived, it wasn't busy, but a number of people trickled in after us. They all got their food before us. The service was so slow it took forever to take our order, the side salad I ordered came out wrong, French fries cold, had to ask for our sodas with the meal. Horrible food. Walk across to DQ, I guarantee it will be better. Never again.

My wife and I dined here on a Saturday afternoon. There were six other diners in the Pub. We all ordered a salad and a soup or meat pie. After our order was taken it took a very long time for the food to be delivered and then it was both the salad and the entree. The food was just passable, nothing to make up for the long wait. The waitress was cordial but not attentive at all. Next visit to Stillwater we will skip the establishment.

My wife and I had a Living Social Coupon for $40 so we decided to trek across Minneapolis about 20 miles and arrived at the quaint little inn and restaurant Charlie's Pub. Our waitress had a cute southern accent and I ordered a Harp to start us off, my wife got a Diet Coke. The menu was plentiful After a few minutes of perusing the menu, I decided on the seafood linguine, and my wife got the Cobb salad. We both ordered the half orders, so I had to order a few more beers to use up all the money. The seafood noodle dish was fantastic! Lots of mussels and calamari and shrimp and scallops. The noodles were perfect and the sauce was a light white wine based deal. Good stuff. I got the Caesar salad with it and the Parmesan crust that came with it was awesome, and I think the Caesar dressing is homemade. I say this because it wasn't emulsified, but very yummy. I tried the ranch from my wife's salad as well and it was awesome too. My Caesar salad was pretty big and nice and fresh, I liked the fresh ground Parmesan on it as well. I would have like a few croutons though, but that is being picky. Overall, a nice place that I wouldn't go to without a coupon, but nice service and lots of TVs if you want sports.

Let me start off by saying my love for Charlie's Pub is definitely because of their Bloody Marys. Anytime my friends and I are in the Stillwater area we have to stop by Charlie's for a drink (or two!). They infuse their vodka with a delicious mix of jalapenos, banana peppers, bacon, onion, garlic, etc. and let it sit for a certain period of time before they use it as part of their bloody mary mix. Definitely a must-try if you love bloody marys. Unfortunately, I can't give too much feedback on the food. My friend ordered the wallaye sandwich once and it was definitely good, but I'm usually just there for drinks.

We went on a Groupon deal for the Sunday buffet and it wasn't worth the half-price we paid. There was very little food left in the buffet and it was all cold. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and the hash brown potatoes were inedible. You are better off at a Perkins than here.

I reviewed the Water Street Inn previously, but felt the need to extol the pub independently of the sleeping-over experience. They have such a quaint Victorian decor, and in the summer you can sit out on the patio and watch the boats go by under the Stillwater lift bridge. They also have a Jameson Club. As a fan of The Local in Mpls (number one Jameson Acct. in the world), I have to say these people do things with Irish whiskey that I would never even consider. Go on a hot July or August afternoon, order a St. Croix Tea - Jameson, Amaretto, and Iced Tea. As a northerner, I never really understood the Mint Julep. Now I think I get it, and this is our answer to it. Enjoy it out back with a straw hat on, and see if you can remember the lyrics to "Old Man River."

Nasty hamburgers and other food. Service equally bad. Shots are under-poured.

Came for the brunch buffet, the food was fresh, the om let bar was great, and our drinks, bottomless mimosas, were never empty, despite the fact that Nathan, our server, was busy.
