Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Large pizza as big as a checkerboard - no scrimping on ingredients. Could be a bit more spicy, but then you can always add your own peppercorns, right? All in all a GREAT pizza.

Very good pizza and if they make a mistake they readily fix it for you my family orders there all the time and we're never disappointed

I didn't know what to expect from them as the store front doesn't look like the place with the best Pizza but it was amazing. Their delivery is very quick and ingredients must be fresh because the Pizza was top notch. I order from them a few times a month and happy every time in order. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great classic pizza.

Nope Nope Nope Watched the cook blow a snot rocket out the back door of the kitchen and then go right back to touching the food without washing his hands. The interior of the store is dirty enough that I considered leaving without getting the food I had ordered for pick up.

Every Monday and Thursday night, without fail, I order from Checkerboard. I work second shift so eat my dinner whilest at work, and since I have to be at work during my beloved NFL football games, I figure we might as well grab a pie to "watch" the game on the computer. Don't let the prices fool you, the pizza is excellent. I prefer the thin crust, and as others have said, the square cut makes for a better pizza devouring experience! The $2.50 cheese bread is heavenly, too. I'm gonna be bummed once football season is over. Will probably shift my "Checkerboard Night" to Friday!

Was working late and ordered a pizza with a coworker. We ordered Sausage with extra sauce. They really loaded it up with extra sauce, which I really love. I hate when I order pizza and it has barely any sauce. The pizza arrived piping hot and the sauce hadn't had any time to settle. I also like fairly thin slice pizza that is cut in squares. The online coupon we used came to $11 for a large 1 topping pizza delivered.

We ordered two extra large pizzas from here yesterday. They had very good flavor and I felt there was a good value in what we received vs. what we paid. When I picked them up I found the place to be amazingly clean! Which I REALLY appreciate!!! I will definitely be a returning customer and would recommend this place for sure.

Great place for pizza I order from them a few times a month. Great lasagna and chicken Alfredo. If you are looking for a great pizza at a great price try out this little gem.

Had it delivered again today. 2.5 stars. The sauce and crust doesn't taste the same. It's a little bland and the crust is kind of sweet and flaky. The cheese is good. It's still not bad and definitely way better than the crap from Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Dominos or Little Caeser's. I think when I had it the first time, I was just insanely hungry at a Halloween party and my only choice was some nasty crockpot chicken soup with homemade noodles the thickness of an encyclopedia an in law made. Luckily, another passive agressive in law that didn't want soup either said it was my idea to order pizza and ordered some. Thanks, I guess... well I got pizza out of it until someone that didn't chip in started gobbling it when no one was looking. Good times...ha ha, not really, but makes for a funny story I hope.

We love this place...not to hard on the wallet and enough variety besides pizza for the one person who doesn't want pizza. No fear the pizza is the standout, flat crust in squares and they have always been willing to add or subtract sauce (an enternal source of disagreement in the family) yup greasy but in the way pizza should be. The pastas are good, my only complaint it that it in nigh unto impossible to get lasagna, it is on the menu but perennially sold out for us. Skip the donuts.

This is the go-to pizza joint in The Midway. The sauce has a nice tang and a great garlicky after-taste, the sausage has a great spice and the cheese is piled on. I love any pizza place that cuts squares and the delivery is aways quick. Whomever said Checkerboard is Red's stunt double nailed it, great call! Is it greasy? Absolutely! Pizza without grease is bland & boring and often called Domino's or Pizza Hut. I have a limited amount of space on my speed dial and one spot will always be reserved for Checkerboard.

We aren't hurting for pizza in the Midway (Luce, Eden, chains) but my go-to is Checkerboard. Cheap, simple Midwest (Minnesotan?) pizza cut into squares. It's style is like Red's Savoy's stunt double, plus they deliver until midnight. Nice sauce, good crust, and they really load the pepperoni and sausage on em. No frills, cheap and fast - made cheaper when you mention the online coupon from their website.

What's cheap, greasy, and available late at night? No, it isn't a 2 dollar hooker, it's Checkerboard pizza in Midway and it's freaking delicious. For a little over 10 dollars, you can get a giant pizza that is hot, fresh, and has the perfect amount of cheese and sauce with super tasty crust. It isn't the fancy pizza over at Pizza Luce and probably you wont be bringing this pizza home to mom, but when you're hungry and it's 10 pm and you've pretty much given up on your Weight Watchers diet (you'll start it up again tomorrow) this is the perfect pizza. I can never really understand the delivery drivers. They surely aren't the tattooed, pierced alternative kids delivering over at Pizza Luce, but they've got your hot pizza in their hands and you've got the cash in yours, so you'll make it work. One word of advice: do not try the donuts. Stick to the pizza. Don't do what I did and think, hmm, donuts? Why not? Because it's pretty much what you'd except from a pizza place making donuts, it isn't a good idea.

I absolutely love going to checkerboard. I think they have the best wings in town, the pizza is great and the price cannot be beat. Customer service is also great here, i've never had a problem with them and tell all my friends they have to go!!!
(5)Tammy L.
It's not pizza hut's stuffed crust, but it tasted better the day after than fresh!
(3)Adam D.
Love this place. They have a great thin crust pizza and the prices are really good. Place is clean, and the staff is always really friendly.

Super greasy, lot of toppings, big portions, great price... great pizza. I think they have a new credit card machine... it looks brand new and it has never broken when I've been there. Pick-up is the way to go here. Skip the bread sticks, if you need more food just get more pizza.

Checker Board is my kind of pizza place. Greasy, thin crust pizza--it's incredible, artery-clogging goodness in every bite. Do not order delivery, it won't come until tomorrow, OK maybe not tomorrow, but I am usually quoted 2 hours. Also, bring cash. they have a credit card machine, bit it is always "broken" when I order. What are you gonna do?
(5)Robb S.
