Big Fan of Dog Shops! Had the Reuben and Carolina Slaw Dog. Both were top notch.

OK....Now I have tried the Maxwell Street Polish and the Reuben dog. Nothing special about either of them other than the price, about $5.50 each. And though the place is called SPEED Dog, there is nothing quick about their service. The decor is cute, but the dining room is a rather on the small side. They also seem to have a bit of an inventory issue. The two times we have been there they were out of at least one item that we wanted. The first item was ice cream to make a chocolate shake. The second time was the pumpernickel buns for the Reuben dogs, we opted for the regular white buns instead.

If you love Vienna Beef Combos you'll love Sammy's. If you love NASCAR and Vienna Beef Combos, you've found a new home. Sammy's serves up about a dozen different types of hotdog combos, from the traditional Chicago-style to odd pairings such as the Hawaiian Hotdog served with Teriyaki Sauce, a slice of roasted pineapple on a Minnesota bun, and the Reuben Dog...which is just what it sounds like, a Reuben in a hot dog bun...with a hotdog. I found the Chicago-style dog to be very tasty, juicy, and not overly done. The toppings were generous, and fresh...and the only down point was when my bun started to disintegrate on the last few bites of dog. Served with a pairing of your average everyday fries and a fountain drink or a choice of Jarritos for the same price (7 bucks)...it was a good value and very filling. The decor is NASCAR, all the way down to the ceiling fans that look like speedometers. I could see little kids getting a kick out of the shiny chrome tables and the pictures of racing cars everywhere. Half of the parking lot was filled with white 4 x 4 pickup trucks as well...equals semi-hick to me. The location is off the beaten track, on the road out of Shakopee, and probably not going to appeal to people other than the lunch crowd, or locals. If you're in town to gamble at the race track, or go to Valley Fair, it would be worth it to make a stop into this place for one of their dogs. They also serve up some mean Fried Cheese Curds. Other menu items included Wings, which I may try one time in the future on another lunch visit. I'll make another "pit-stop" at Sammy's Speed Dog in the near future.

I had the Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Melt with mayonnaise instead of mustard. They toast the buns here which make them very good!!!!

As the Canterbury hot dog eating champ, I can asure you that this place is awesome! I've had Pink's and Nathan's and all the others, and this place is by far teh best. The bacon cheddar dog with fried onions is world class. Cheese curds beat out the state fair! Prices can't be beat! Plenty of TVs to watch the game while you eat. As you leave shakopee toward the 101 bridge, keep going west on 1st ave. for 2 blocks. It's right across from the big factory. i hope they get a food truck and go to the Canterbury lot, Prior Lake rotary fest., and all the other places this summer. If people only knew how great this place was.

This place just reopened a few months ago, and it is fantastic. I got the bacon wrapped hot dog and it was the best I've ever had. Cheese curds are also pretty tasty. Fun atmosphere and great service!

Good hotdogs and dry rub wings. My husband loves this place. Its not health food of course but all the food is home made and good for a casual meal.

Very nice surprise on the inside. Place doesn't look like much from the street, but super clean and nice racing decor inside. I had the Sonoran and it was good. Bun was like a lobster roll bun. Seasoned fries were excellent.

Finally stopped in and glad we did! Very clean inside and fun car/racing decor. The service was great and food came fast and hot. The cheese curds were delicious and the fried pickles weren't bad either. Tried two different dogs and both were so yummy

I don't know why Sammy's isn't packed! The food was awesome and didn't break the bank. This was one of the best hot dog experiences of my life (I had the bacon wrapped cheddar dog...see picture)! Jose, the new manager was friendly and knew what he was doing. If you are rolling through Shakopee and need a bite to eat you should check it out... I will be back for sure... It's just a mile and a half off of 169-easy to find and get to-up Co Rd 69.

In the neighborhood and Yelped up Samy's for a hungry post soccer group of 9. Good choice!! Low profile from the outside. Friendly and clean inside. Dogs to gyros to ribs--everyone left happy and planning to return.

If you don't try the wings, you are missing out. They are LARGE, juicy inside, and the skin is crispy with a nice spicy dry rub. The hotdog was good too. Good service and good food. If only I could transport this place back to the east coast.

Stopped at this place last year. Generally not a fan of hotdogs, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Had a chicago dog, wasn't impressed. Was going by today and stopped again. Got a KC dog, WOW, really good. Super Messy and just great. Hot dog with pulled pork, bbq sauce and slaw. Original, is get it again. It's a locally owned place. I'm a fan of that.

I was skeptical since there are no cars here at lunch and it looks kind of cheesy from the outside. Wow, not what i expected. Friendly service at the counter. Clean dining room, clean bathrooms, and the food my friends and i ordered was great! This is certainly a hidden gem in Shakopee.

I found out about this place last week from the Yelp newsletter, and decided my hubby and I had to go. I can't believe I've lived super close to such great food for so long without hearing about it. Everything was fantastic, and the owner is a super great guy. I personally don't care for hot dogs generally, but the Speedway Coney was fabulous. The meat sauce was insanely good, and that bun is the best ever. My husband loved his chili cheese dog, and wanted to go back immediately lol. We each got the seasoned fries, neither of us needed ketchup, very good. The best part though was by far the massive chicken wings. Believe me, the name doesn't lie. These are HUGE. And they definitely don't need sauce. That spice rub is perfect, and those wings are juicy and high quality meat. On top of all this fabulous food, this place is cheap! You really can't go wrong, and we can't wait to go back to try everything! Sorry vegetarians/vegans, this place is not friendly.

Found this place on yelp and I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the Decour with a hot rods mustangs and so on. So I ordered a really good hotdog and some wings. The hotdog was excellent and I don't say that about too many hotdogs the wings were excellent and different than I've had it many other restaurants much larger. Take a look at the photos and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'll be back and I'll be bringing my friends I suggest this place for lunch or if you're cruising around town.

From the outside, you might think that you made a horrible mistake stopping here. It's off the beaten path and not always busy. But do yourself a favor and stop here once. My wife and I went on a Friday night at about 620 because we knew that they were only open until 7. It was our first time visiting so we ordered up a few menu items to test out. Im glad we did. The dogs were outstanding. I did not see that coming. Perhaps it's the buns they use that set them apart. They use these soft toasted buns that are not like anything I have eaten. I think they might be a variety of the Hawaiian buns that you can get at the grocery stores. Or maybe they get them from the bakery down the road. Doesn't matter, they are excellent. My wife tried the spicy gyro and let me try it. It was very good. It wasn't particularly spicy but I imagine that is a matter of taste. You have to try it once and I don't think you will regret it.
