This place was surprisingly good in terms of food, which is the most important item for review. I got a pizza with pepperoni, jalapeños, and pineapple. The jalapeños and pineapple mix together well for a perfect dose if sweetness. I recommend getting the Old Word crust because they fold the crust over to make a pocket of cheesy gooiness. The cheese was so good! Even their Ultimate Lemonade was good! I'm not sure what was in it, but it tasted like a real lemonade that hit the spot. The service was a little slow for me. My waitress Marina seemed to think that a person eating alone did not deserve the same level of attention.

Disappointing experience, to say the least. First, my Husband and I stood at the host stand for a good 7 minutes before someone came to greet us. We almost, and should have, taken this as a sign to leave. Obviously they weren't set up to take good care of their guests. When we were finally sat, the server did greet us promptly, but he barely mumbled a "hello." Definitely not a stellar greeting, no pitch for drinks or even asking our occasion for dining (it was my birthday dinner, by the way). We ordered the stuffed jalapenos as an app, this was the only enjoyable part of the experience--they were quite good and I would order again. My burger was overcooked, the server did not return until my husband was basically done with his meal and I had finished my fries, I didn't feel like sending it back at this point. He asked if I wanted a box, which of course I declined. He brought the check promptly with out any suggestion of dessert, which since it was my birthday we would have gladly bought a dessert to share. Overall disappointing experience with no glimpse of a manager anywhere in the restaurant. The hubs and I dine out quite a bit and are used to an "average" experience. This surpassed to truly being an unenjoyable experience. We left mentioning to each other that we had no reason to return.

I will start this review off by saying we came here purely based on convenience. We were seated extremely fast but the host immediately went on break and didn't alert a server of our presence because we sat for 10 minutes before even being acknowledged by anyone. Multiple servers cruised by, laughing with each other but didn't bat an eye at us. Finally a server asked how long we had been sitting there and took our drink orders. After he left, a few servers walked buy with 3 full beers each and spilled a trail of cheap beer all the way passed our table. The smell of stale beer was cso bad that the table next to us complained. Instead of mopping up the beer, some lazy server threw down napkins and did the foot mop routine. Then they got the order wrong for a guy next to us. He's clearly stated "no onions, I'm allergic"....but it came with onions. My girlfriend and I were going to order entrees but quickly shifted to appetizers in order to minimize the risk.

This place had a complete remodel just a month or two ago form this review. Huge improvement. HUGE. Its clean, modern and nice. The pizza is really good. If you like calzones they are huge. One of my friends got one and it was like the size of a football. It would have been better if the dough wasnt so thick and filled with air. The service was decent, the new decor is a huge improvement. The food is standard to Green Mill. Nothing bad but more on the side of "nice" bar food. Im sure we will go back and try some more items.

Ever have food envy over a ten year old? I did while I watched her stuff her face with a macaroni and cheese pizza while I choked down an "thai" style salad. What's become of me... We were seated in a booth near the bar and then left to rot until a waitress from another section ran over and apologetically took our drink orders and put them in right away. Shortly thereafter, our ditz of a waitress showed up to take our food orders and then vanished, only to be seen to drop off our food and our bill. Needless to say, the service kind of sucked. I ordered coffee because spending any more than 20 minutes with a ten year old completely sucks every last drop of energy from me. The coffee here couldn't give a fly a buzz. It was hot and brown and that's about all that was reminiscent of actual coffee. I slammed three cups hoping to get some kind of high from it but the only thing that could keep me going was hoping she'd share some of her pizza. That didn't happen. I'm still holding a grudge. My salad was like any other asian inspired salad from a chain restaurant; Drenched in some kind of sesame dressing and they toss some peanut sauce in there so they can call it "Thai". It was boring and completely expected. This particular Green Mill is attached to a hotel which is located directly off of an I-94 exit, so naturally you get some interesting people stopping by. At least you'll get some eye candy, if nothing else. This Green Mill looks like it was recently renovated, and in the nature of being a chain, it looks exactly like every other restaurant you've ever been in. No points for creativity. I'd say, if you're reading this and are on the road looking for somewhere to stop... Keep going. There's much better a couple miles in pretty much any direction.

green mill still inconsistent. 1st time i order online my 17.99 8 oz sirloin is awesome and delivered fast to my hotel (less than a mile away). 2nd time i order online my 21.99 8 oz sirloin is like leather and takes 90 minutes to get to my hotel room. 3rd time i order online my 18.99 (i kid you not) 8oz sirloin is just ok and takes 60 minutes to be delivered to my hotel room. also even the onion rings were a little different all 3x's

Quality app garlic focaccia cheese bread. Diet coke was flat and tasted off so ordered regular coke. Deep dish pizza was great. Buffalo chicken wrap was nothing special very generic with ok fries. Service mediocre.

Just what this weary traveler ordered! In town for business, and staying at the attached hotel. I normally despise hotel bars, but when a local resident (and my boss) recommended this place for drinks and dinner - well the food was great. I'm glad I took the short walk down the hall.

Wow, new owners, new staff and they're still empty despite having pretty good food. This particular Green Mill hasn't been a major meeting place for a while but the locals seemed to like it (until recent years). Despite having a good kitchen whose dinners were quite well done including the pizzas, they seem to seldom have a busy night. I don't think it's the locals chasing people away by sullying the atmosphere, it's actually a nice space but noticeably lacking of local clientele. The times I was there I noticed on several occasions interesting comments by other patrons. Things like "good food, too bad the chef aren't able to deliver the food too" and "wow, I hope they (the wait staff) gets paid well because they aren't getting a tip from me." I was actually asked once by another bar customer if their pour looked the same as others around the bar. I looked around and strangely it wasn't, and neither was mine. So after that experience I started taking notice of their service. While they do have a couple of people who are noticeably well experienced in the service industry and must get great tips for their attention to detail and having a very engaging personalities, that is sadly not the norm at this particular Green Mill. At the bar it's seems like it could be apathy because of the lack of business unless they are serving patrons who they know. I'm definitely not going to frequent this Green Mill although I may order a pizza for delivery if I'm in the area. But if the food is good and the location is good and the prices are reasonable, what's left to explain the lack of customers than lack of service? It's not the economy because there are other restaurants in the area that seem perpetually busy with customers willing to spend their money for good food and a good time. Other Green Mills seem to be pretty active.

The best thing that I can say about the Green Mill in Maplewood is they've upgraded the interior immensely. It's now brightly lit and beautiful. The waitrons were also helpful, not pushy and very smiley. My gripe is the prices. I had an order of chicken wings. Nothing else, just the wings. They were $9.99! My wife had the walleye dinner. It was a maybe 6 oz fillet with a salad, fries and broccoli. It was $17.99! My kids each had burgers. They were $9.99!! These weren't 1/2lb burgers, they were standard 5oz burgers. Being in the restaurant business, I've got a constant knowledge base of food cost. That said, I won't be paying for their interior design upgrades ever again. They food quality was fine, nothing special, yet nothing done poorly either. Green Mill had better get in line with pricing. People are eating out less and should expect some degree of value when going out.

My husband and I went out for dinner here last weekend and service was horrible! They have a bad habit of seating Afro America's in the back of the place but once you address them on it they'll move you closer. The down side to that is, they seated us next to the bar this night. We watch the servers walk passed us 6-8 times and never once even said would you like a glass of water or we'll be right with you. The staff here refused to ask the beyond intoxicated lady to lower her voice nor did they cut her off. She was loud enough to hear within the entire restaurant. After waiting more then 20 mins., we walked out. I agree with the person who wrote Denny's never taste so good being we received fast friendly service. And yes the meal was just as good. I'll order take out if and when I return. What good is the food if you don't have great service!

Not good. When we first moved to St. Paul some 20 plus years back, we were regulars at the Green Mill on Grand - loved their pizza. When we moved to the 'burbs we were happy to see a Green Mill follow us, but it was never the same as the one on Grand so we stopped going. We tried it again tonight and were reminded why we stopped. I had the Walleye with mango/jerk salsa and my wife had the Tequila/lime chicken pasta and I could barely distinguish between the two. There is some seasoning they use that makes everything taste the same. The service was mediocre at best. My wife's entree was brought out before mine by someone other than our waitress who asked me "and what are you waiting for?" Additionally, the prices are high for the quality of food, and the place was incredibly noisy. Never again.

I have had only good experiences everything I've ordered was impressive. The two bad things i can say is that when there have new hires they can use a Lil bit more training and get larger to go cups. Over all ill be back.

Haven't had GM in years. Decided to have it delivered. Big mistake. We ordered a simple pizza and cheese breed - both were room temperature, at best, by the time we received the food. Friendly driver - but for the high price, I'd expect the food to be at least warm. Preferably hot.

I took my family here for dinner tonight and saw that the place looked kind of busy from the outside. I asked the person who seated us if it was an off night for service and if so, I was fine bringing my family back another time. I should have stuck with my gut instinct. Upon being seated and waiting over 15 minutes, we get water brought to the table. We were told that our waitress was occupied and would be with us shortly. Eventually a waiter came over and took our order and then the wait began anew. I should have left after that wait but I am a glutton for punishment so we persevered. I saw that the table next to us which was seated before us did not even get their order taken until they were there for over 40 minutes, I considered us lucky. After placing our order, it took 17 minutes to get our soup and salad and then another 17 minutes to get our food. What we got tasted fine while it lasted however when it came time for the check, that was an entirely new waiting game. After waiting for about 15 minutes for our waitress to pick up our check, I took it up to the front where the hostess was seating customers. I was advised that she could not take care of my check and offered to get someone to get it. About 5 minutes later, someone finally made it over to my table to get the check. Our waitress came by after our check was finally picked up and asked if there was anything she could do for us to which I looked at her with bewildered amusement and asked if she was serious. I guess she didn't realize that waiting 20 plus minutes to pay your bill was not acceptable. The bartender observed the interaction and apologized for the lousy service we got and offered a gift card but I declined. Accepting that gift card would have sentenced my family and I to come back and that ain't happening!

As we wait for our lunch, my colleague says his water "tastes like soap". I wonder if the glasses are not being washed thoroughly?

Green Mill makes good food. Their pizza always hits the spot for me, and I have a special place in my stomach for their wings. That said, this Green Mill is like no other you have been to, so don't let this one ruin your Green Mill impression. The inside of this location is a little dingy, sitting at the bar, you'll want to bring a nose plug, as it smells like backed up sewers. If you order a tap beer here, make sure you're not getting the first one of the day. The tap beer here often tastes stale and old. I've had a few bad experiences with food coming out right, or out at all, but the good food experiences far outweigh the bad. In a nutshell, be leary of the beer, and atmosphere, but the food is normally fine.

I went there about 10:20 and only the bar menu was available. It was dead in there and the spinach dip sucked. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries though and would highly recommend them.

Love their deep dish pizza with the roasted tomatoes on top... I really like it. Take your Tums though. All that acid.

Ok, this may not be my absolute favorite italian/wing place around but its probably in my top 3 of favorite places to get wings at and maybe top 10 favorite places to get good pasta dishes from, so it definetly satisfies my taste buds eating here. Me and my wife have eaten at this location multiple times and have always had good service, its always comfy here if you get a booth and nice decor. To that person who said you got a better meal across the freeway at Dennys your off your rocker, I have family that works their and even they don't like their food, Dennys is bland, Green Mill is good, and this place does not do the Rosa Parks thing like you said and move everyone to the back of the restaraunt who is black, I am so sick of black people assuming everything a white person does can be constreud as something racist.did it occur to you that different waitors have different sections of the restaraunt and your assigned waitors turn was up to have another customer in their section?thats how waitors get to get tipped fairly is by having equal numbers in their section so get over your racial wawawa and stop your crying.

This may have been the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had in my entire life. I don't even know where to begin. I was staying at the hotel that is connected to it and I was hoping to grab some lunch there with my daughter before heading out to take her shopping at Woodbury Lakes. The service was not good at all as we sat and waited forever to order food and waited forever to get it. I worked the restaurant business so I understand it's not always easy, but there was no one else in there at the time. Once we finally got our food I was blown away that they honestly served my daughter a completely frozen corn dog. The thing had ice crystals yet. My burger was crap, drier than ever like it had been sitting out for hours. I would never serve someone the food that my daughter and I were served that day. If I could give them zero stars I would. One is being way too kind for the horrendous service and food we had to bare through. And to top it all off they wouldn't even discount me a single penny. Never go to this restaurant if you can help it.

Great service from the waitresses and bartenders I've ran into so far. All the appetizers are great. Their deep dish pizza is awesome, although it takes a while to cook (about 25 mins, no complaint here as the quality of it is superb once it's brought over to your table). The only other food I've eaten here are the pasta dishes and they are always delicious! Compliments to the chef at this location as the food thus far has never disappointed me. Just a great place with great service and excellent food. Applebees, Dennys, and Perkins all fail in comparison to this Green Mill restaurant.

They sometimes have all-you-can-eat buffets on weekends. To say they cheap out on everything for these buffets is being generous. The food at a place like Old Country Buffet is much higher quality. But the real kicker is that Green Mill is not set up for a buffet and they leave things sitting out so that the pizza is dried out, the waffles are stale, and so on. Some food is barely hot. Our bill for two for the buffet was $50 all told. Just two soft drinks and a crappy buffet. Also, I got door poisoning there. Two days of living in my bathroom. I won't be going back. This is clearly a restaurant that cuts costs at the expense of food safety and decent quality. (That's FOOD poisoning, lol. See, I'm still not over it.)

I ordered delivery and the food was very delicious. The delivery was fast and the price is pretty reasonable. I will definitely order from them again.
